00:00 Hi and welcome to another episode of Screenbabel Weekend Watch. I'm your host Stephen Ross,
00:05 National Wales Digital Trends Writer and I'll be giving you the top tips for what to watch
00:09 this weekend and beyond. So for Thursday the 31st, as I was speaking about on the main
00:17 podcast Classic Movies the Story of, lands on Sky Arts at 8pm with a deconstruction of
00:23 Orson Welles' The Third Man. It'll be airing at the same time weekly with different films
00:29 as the subject. We have The Graduate, Ran, Brighton Rock, Terminator 2, among others.
00:36 Definitely worth a watch and you can listen to my full analysis of the show on the main podcast.
00:42 Then on Friday the 1st of September we have an Amazon Prime Original Series, The Wheel of Time,
00:49 returns for Season 2. This is based on the fantasy series by Robert Jordan, the 14-book epic.
00:59 The second season will be mostly adapted from Book 2 in the series and sees Rosamund Pike return as
01:07 well. The first three episodes will land on the 1st of September and then it's episodes
01:12 airing and being released weekly as eight episodes in total. Also on Friday we have Warrior Season 3,
01:21 the Asian-American series on Sky. It already aired on HBO Max but is now coming to the UK via Sky.
01:31 It follows the Tong Wars in the 1870s in San Francisco and in Season 3 we follow the aftermath
01:41 of the race riots that took place in the second season and we see Mai Ling use her connections
01:48 in the government to consolidate power while the supporting characters find new ways to survive
01:54 in the violent world in the West. There's 10 episodes in the series, they'll be coming to
02:00 Sky Max at 9pm on Fridays weekly. Then on Sunday Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing Season 6.
02:09 This is a very popular BBC series with the comedians Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse.
02:16 The sixth series will see them visit the UK's oldest pub and go camping on the shores of a
02:24 carp lake among other adventures. There are six episodes in the series, they air on BBC2 at 9pm
02:33 on Sundays and will be available to watch on iPlayer after they've first aired.
02:38 Then something a bit more serious, on Monday the 4th of September we have Ukraine Holocaust
02:45 Ground Zero on Channel 4. This is a documentary about the Nazi Holocaust during the Second World
02:50 War following the German invasion of Ukraine. One of the biggest atrocities within the Holocaust,
02:58 one of the biggest single events, was the shooting of around 34,000 Jews in Ukraine
03:03 at Bivin Yar near Kiev during the Second World War. This is explored among other atrocities in
03:12 Ukraine to the Jewish population with survivors of the Holocaust and historians participating in
03:18 the documentary as well. It's a special one-off and it will air at 10pm on Monday the 4th on
03:23 Channel 4 and then will be available to watch on Channel 4 online after it's first aired.
03:28 And then lastly for this week we have The Little Mermaid, the live-action Disney film,
03:36 and live-action remake I should say, coming to Disney+ following its cinematic release.
03:41 Despite various controversies surrounding the film it managed to gross about £560 million
03:45 at the box office, so fairly comfortable success, and it's now coming to Disney+ too.
03:51 So it stars Halle Berry as the titular mermaid who gains her legs, Melissa McCarthy as Esla,
04:00 and Javier Bardem as King Triton. Well that's all from me, thanks for listening,
04:05 and I'll be back next week with more weekend watch recommendations. Thanks very much.
