00:20 After the mass at Immaculate Conception Parish in Batac City, President
00:26 Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr. offered flowers at his father's monument in celebration
00:31 of his 106th birthday.
00:33 For the peace and order that he fought and stood for, the
00:36 development that he inspired our own citizens to build, and the dreams that he
00:41 left in the hearts of many, he remains a true Filipino and Ilocano icon whose
00:48 exceptional mind matched the nation-loving spirit that he possessed
00:52 and that he demonstrated. So as we remember and pay tribute to his memory,
00:58 let this gathering serve as a testament to the unwavering pursuit of
01:03 unity that he so passionately espoused for our people.
01:07 But according to the president, no need for extravagance or lavishness to honor his father on his
01:12 birthday. Putting into practice the legacy left by the former president is
01:17 more than enough.
01:18 Let us act in our own small and unique ways to support government, to support
01:24 our people and all the initiatives and programs and continue to instill in
01:30 every Filipino the sense of ownership and accountability in building our great nation.
01:36 The Philippines is ours to love and the path to a new Philippines, a more
01:42 equitable, sustainable, and resilient one is ours to make.

01:53 featuring his image and slogan, "Bagong Pilipinas."
01:56 According to MMSU and Phil Rice, this is a sign of their support to the program of the current
02:01 administration, especially in achieving food security and reinvigorating the
02:06 agricultural sector in the country.
02:08 Your presence today is especially inspiring as it signifies the kind of
02:16 collaboration needed from various sectors.
02:21 President Marcos Jr. pointed out the importance of technology in the agricultural sector and the huge
02:26 difference it will bring to production and supply of agricultural products.
02:30 There's a necessary work to be done for us to be able to, as I say, take the new
02:36 technology from the laboratory to the rice field. And that is where we now come
02:44 in. And when I say we, I say we in terms of the Department of Agriculture.
02:50 That is what the DA will do now.
02:53 It will get the best technology, especially now.
02:57 The new technologies have become so important because of climate change.
03:02 A lot is changing, a lot needs to be changed, needs to be studied, so that we can make sure
03:10 that we have a stable source of supply and that that supply is affordable to ordinary Filipinos.
