00:15In times of calamity, every passing hour is important to save lives,

00:21especially during typhoons that cause flooding and landslides that the country experiences every year.

00:29KAUG9 has an app that develops hope to help the local government and the public make a quick decision in the event of a typhoon.

00:38Using the app, wherever you are, you can receive localized information about the typhoon,

00:44such as its location, which is different from the current release of hope that only has a point of reference.

00:50And at the same time, there will be hazard assessments in your location.

00:54How dangerous is it for you if a typhoon comes?

01:00If it's near you or if the typhoon is more intense,

01:06what are the hazards that you can experience?

01:12Is your location home?

01:14Can you have a landslide?

01:18And not only that, we will also give you the location of the evacuation center so that you know where you are going.

01:26Along with this, there are other important critical infrastructures such as hospitals and recommendations on what to do.

01:34The information you need from Pagasa, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, or DALG,

01:39is only in one app that can help you make a quick decision, such as rescue.

01:44We expect that once this project is implemented,

01:48people will be able to use it to make their own decisions so that they can be saved.

01:57And this will also help our decision makers.

02:00This is just one of more than 70 projects approved and funded by the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology,

02:07Research and Development, and the Department of Science and Technology,

02:10according to DUSD Fisher Director Enrico Paringit.

02:13The more than P935 million in funding for this project is higher than in previous years.

02:18Aside from disaster risk reduction management, this is also applied in various sectors,

02:22such as food, processing, ICT and electronics, energy, technology transfer, and many more.

02:28Paringit added that many people here are concerned about the use of artificial intelligence.

02:33We are seeing the emergence of AI tools from a purely technology standpoint to an application and tool standpoint.

02:46We will use it in all fields, in all sectors,

02:50so that we can improve our products, services, and needs in the future.

02:57The projects approved are from higher educational institutions, start-up companies,

03:02attached agencies of DUSD, and private organizations.
