Dog obsessed with mom always keeps an eye on her

00:00 We lovingly call him an idiot because he's just so silly.
00:04 I'm Ellie and this is Georgia's story for GeoBeats.
00:07 He has to be within a few feet.
00:10 Every morning when I drink my coffee,
00:11 he's either on my lap or right next to me.
00:13 And then he follows me around all day.
00:15 He'll step on my laptop all the time like a cat
00:18 when I'm trying to do homework,
00:19 'cause he wants to try and get as close to me
00:20 as he possibly can.
00:22 If both my husband and I are home,
00:24 he doesn't want to be too far away from dad either.
00:26 So he'll pick a spot in the middle.
00:28 He sleeps a good portion of the day on the couch
00:31 or with my patients 'cause I do massage therapy.
00:33 He sleeps for the whole hour.
00:34 He doesn't move until I move him.
00:36 He does that all day long.
00:41 He just loves cuddling with people.
00:43 The vast majority of my patients ask for him to come up.
00:46 It's like having a 70 pound weighted blanket on you
00:49 that's also breathing and has a heartbeat
00:51 and this great energy.
00:52 It's added a really unique and healing component
00:55 to what I do.
00:56 I call him Mr. Personality.
00:58 He has so many different facial expressions
01:01 and has a lot of weird idiosyncrasies.
01:03 He loves baths and swimming and playing in the sprinklers,
01:12 but he hates the rain.
01:13 So I have to try and coax him out.
01:15 He has to do like loops around our kitchen island
01:18 before he can eat his food.
01:19 He gets the Zoomies like clockwork at seven every night.
01:22 I equate it to like watching a toddler as an adult.
01:25 You watch them experience life with all of this zest and joy
01:28 and it makes you realize that there's a lot of magic
01:31 in the little things.
01:32 And I feel that way when I watch George
01:33 because he's just so full of excitement and love of life
01:37 that it makes me stop and appreciate those little things
01:39 that as a working adult, you normally just glance over.
01:42 From a distance, he looks very regal and strong
01:45 and intimidating and maybe guard dog like.
01:48 As soon as you interact with him,
01:49 you realize he's the furthest thing from a vicious dog
01:52 and that he's just a big pile of mush really
01:54 that loves everybody.
01:55 I don't really know how to put it into words
01:57 since he can't talk,
01:58 but I feel like I understand what he needs most of the time
02:01 and I feel like he definitely knows what I need
02:03 without me having to say it.
02:05 He's really empathic.
02:06 He knows when I'm down.
02:08 If I'm having a hard day, he doesn't usually leave my side.
02:11 He's just right there.
02:12 Lets me hug him and whatever I need.
02:14 He's definitely my best friend.
02:21 It brings a whole new meaning
02:22 to the term man's best friend to me.
02:24 I've had animals all growing up,
02:28 but never have I bonded with a dog
02:30 like I've bonded with George.
02:32 So I love having him around all the time.
02:34 I'm just so grateful for animals in general
02:36 and so grateful that George is my dog.
