00:21 but doesn't exactly fit the mold

00:22 for a classic small town Southern accent.

00:25 However, there is a reasonable explanation

00:27 as to why Lainey sounds the way she does.

00:29 Lainey is from a small town

00:30 in Northern Louisiana called Baskin.

00:32 Anyone who's ever visited the town

00:34 or who's from there knows that just about everyone in Baskin

00:36 sounds very similar to Lainey.

00:38 Though she doesn't live in Baskin anymore,

00:40 she keeps in regular contact

00:41 with her family and friends there,

00:43 which explains why her accent hasn't changed.

00:45 In a 2022 interview with the Associated Press,

00:48 Lainey discussed the rumors.

00:49 She said, "I've had a lot of folks,

00:51 not necessarily in the industry, but just in general,

00:54 comment on social media and stuff

00:56 and say there's no way that she really talks like that."

01:20 During a recent appearance on the Bobby Bones Show,

01:22 she discussed her feelings toward the matter again.

01:24 That's why I don't look at the comments anymore

01:26 'cause when they start talking about my accent,

01:28 I start feeling like they're talking about my family

01:31 and I'm ready to fight, she said.

01:32 "I love her accent.

01:33 She is so real and ignore them, Lainey.

01:36 I have a strong Southern accent.

01:38 Also, I think people are jealous,"

01:40 fans wrote in support of Lainey.

01:41 Wilson also said on the podcast

01:43 that it'd be hard to keep up with a fake accent all the time

01:46 and she hopes that in 30 years

01:47 when her accent sounds the same,

01:49 people will stop asking her whether it's real or not.

01:51 According to Yahoo, Lainey is from Baskin, Louisiana,

01:54 where everyone supposedly has the exact same twang

01:57 as she does.

01:58 Yes, some may note that Wilson

01:59 is not a regular in Baskin anymore.
