Notre Dame Offensive Line Must Be More Consistent
Transcript
00:00 Number one, O-line consistency.
00:08 This has probably been the most frustrating part that I have seen from this Notre Dame
00:12 offense in the last month.
00:16 How a unit that played as well as it did against Ohio State can look as bad as it did against
00:21 Duke and Louisville is beyond me.
00:24 One game, they were okay against USC, and then pass pro, which had been a mess against
00:32 Duke and especially Louisville, where Sam Hartman was just constantly getting pressured
00:38 over and over and over.
00:40 I remember doing the preview saying, "This could be the equalizer right here."
00:45 Notre Dame's got all these advantages against a not very good USC defense, but man, USC
00:50 ranks sixth nationally in tackles for loss per game.
00:52 They rank second nationally in sacks per game.
00:54 They've got all these highly ranked guys that everybody loves and talks about.
00:58 This could be the neutralizer, right?
01:00 And especially against an offensive line that's just been giving up pressure and pressure
01:03 and pressure and all those type of things the last two weeks, and USC just got ... They
01:07 just dominated USC in pass pro, dominated them.
01:10 No sacks, one tackle for loss, according to pro football focus, only five hurries the
01:15 entire game, and just handled their business.
01:19 And you're like, "How is this the same unit from the two weeks before?"
01:21 Now props to Coach Parker or Coach Rudolph to get that unit to play better against USC,
01:26 and that's great, but it just feeds into the lack of consistency, and that's kind of been
01:31 an issue the last couple years.
