00:03 So if you're looking at, why did Notre Dame go after James Flanagan?
00:07 It had everything to do with the fact that of his fit in the class,
00:10 which I'll get into, and his talent, which I'll get into.
00:12 But they had to convince him of that and make sure that he understood that,
00:16 that hey, we're not recruiting you because who your dad was.
00:18 Yes, that's cool, that's a great story, but
00:20 we're recruiting you because you're really talented.
00:23 Notre Dame's staff made it very clear to him, look,
00:25 we're trying to win championships here and we're not gonna do that.
00:28 By just recruiting a bunch of legacy players, players of legacies and
00:32 hoping that their kids will be as good as they were.
00:36 No, they're recruiting those kids cuz they think those players are very talented.
00:40 That's why they recruited Bryce Young, it's why they're recruiting James Flanagan.
00:44 And so obviously, this is a guy that they had to convince of that, and
00:46 Jared Parker did a great job of this.
00:48 I mean, you talk to James and those around him, and they'll tell you Jared Parker was
00:53 very influential and instrumental in making this happen.
00:57 And like we said, he took a lot of visits.
01:00 He had been close to maybe committing to Notre Dame a couple times, but
01:03 he really wanted to take his time.
01:04 He really wanted to be sure, almost committed in the spring.
01:08 I believe it was during the Blue Gold game, but wanted to hold off cuz he really
01:12 wanted to make sure that he was making the decision for the right reasons.
01:16 And of course, Notre Dame was able to really close the deal on him
01:20 during his last most recent visit, which came during the USC game.
01:23 So it was shortly after the USC game that James gave Coach Freeman a call and
01:28 let him know that Notre Dame is where he wants to be.
