00:00 Hi guys and welcome to DriveSpark, I'm Prameet and today what we are driving is the MG Hector,
00:10 the new 2023 MG Hector and this what we are driving the particular variant is the Savvy
00:16 Pro variant that is the petrol CVT variant and so this was basically going to be a mileage
00:21 test review but we are going to keep that on part two for the mileage and let's quickly
00:27 give you a brief look at the car from the exterior, interior and the engine brief.
00:36 So starting off with the front end, so the very first thing you notice is a lot of chrome
00:40 that has been present on the car.
00:42 The front grill is big now compared to the previous generation Hector and it is a single
00:48 piece with a lot of chrome inserts, there are chrome inserts on the side as well where
00:51 the DRLs are.
00:52 So you have the DRLs on top, the headlight unit is present on the bumper and the headlight
00:57 unit has both the protectors for the high and the low beam added and also has a cornering
01:01 light that acts as fog lights if you wanted and the entire cluster is good, the placement
01:07 is nice but I feel on the high beam the throw should have been a little better because I
01:12 mean there is visibility but sometimes we feel that the high beam is not that powerful
01:17 enough so I mean yeah overall when you're driving on the city there is no problem at
01:22 all but on the highway you might find the slight disappointment as far as the high
01:27 beam is concerned, low beam is excellent.
01:29 Well there is also a front parking camera, you can see right below the logo, now that
01:34 is for the 360 degree camera feature that this car has and rest moving on to the sides,
01:39 so you have these 18-inch alloy wheels that run 215/55 R18 tyres, tyre profile is good,
01:46 the tyre actually remains the same, the alloy wheel design, the five-spoke dual-tone alloy
01:50 wheel design, it remains the same as the previous generation one.
01:53 Now on the side also you get a little bit of body cladding and where the doors are you
01:58 get a chrome insert, you also get chrome insert around the window trims as well but you can
02:04 see on the side chrome inserts you have the Morris garages written over there, it's embedded
02:09 on where the rear door is and body lines and creases are present all over on the side,
02:16 starts at the headlight, ends at the taillight and splits in between, so it's a mix and
02:20 match combination, the car looks good, you have a panoramic sunroof as you can see from
02:24 here as well but since this is the dual-tone version, so you have the lower half that is
02:29 present in white and the top half is present in black and you also get a shark fin antenna.
02:34 Now moving to the rear section, so the rear section you can see you get the taillight
02:38 design, now the taillight design is actually pretty nice, it's sleek and it has got a connected
02:43 taillight now that looks nice at night and you have the big MG logo, again you have a
02:48 camera, now I forgot to mention one more thing that the ORVMs over here are present in gloss
02:53 black and it also has a camera present underneath it, obviously that's a part of the 360-degree
02:59 camera feature that I mentioned earlier, apart from that, at the rear you can see you get
03:05 some amount of chrome on the bumper and obviously there is a smart sensing for the boot, so
03:11 if the key is with you and you go stand next to the boot for I think three to four seconds,
03:16 the boot will open automatically, if you don't want the boot to open because it happens sometimes
03:19 you're standing behind the car and the boot suddenly opens, so you can just hold the boot
03:23 and the boot will close back again.
03:24 When talking about the boot, well the boot has around 587 litres of boot space that's
03:29 close to around 590, that's more than enough of boot space for five people with plenty
03:35 of luggage can come inside, rest if you still want more luggage, there's a 60/40 split,
03:40 you can split the seat, you can fold it down and you can have more space for your luggage.
03:44 Well overall this sums up the exterior and last but not least it's got 192 mm of ground
03:50 clearance that actually makes, I mean it's a pretty decent amount of ground clearance
03:55 for an SUV and it will not bottom out on various speed breakers or speed humps or whatever,
04:00 so you don't need to worry about that.
04:02 Now let's move on to the inside.
04:04 So on the inside a couple of things that you notice is first of all you notice that this
04:12 big 14-inch screen that is over here, infotainment screen, obviously a ton of information can
04:18 be accessed through this, other than that there is soft touch material all over this
04:23 car from the dashboard to the door handles to the door pads, everything is present in
04:27 soft touch material in leather, the steering wheel is wrapped in leather, you have a complete
04:31 black dashboard with these kind of beige seats, looks nice.
04:37 Overall so this 14-inch screen gives you again a lot of information here, wireless Apple
04:41 CarPlay, Android Auto, the second screen that is present on the car is this instrument cluster,
04:46 so this instrument cluster again it's a full digital unit, you get a lot of information
04:49 about this, I mean car and other details from this unit.
04:53 There's one information that is missing and that is that the new Hector does not get a
04:59 mileage efficiency meter, so you cannot check the mileage on this, how much is it giving,
05:05 some may claims around 12.5 something like that, a mixed mileage of highway and the city,
05:12 but we will tell you about that in the next video when we do a full mileage test on this
05:16 car, well overall I can just tell you one thing that this car within the city gives
05:20 a mileage figure of around single digit, that's between 8 to 9 and on the highway you will
05:24 get somewhere between 11 to 12, but we will have to check that out and so moving on, so
05:30 the steering wheel is again, it's a flat bottom steering wheel, it's wrapped in leather, you
05:33 got the steering one that controls very neatly integrated, half of them control the screen
05:38 over here and half of it controls the cluster over here and the steering wheel can also
05:42 be adjusted for tilt and telescope, so you can adjust it according to your need, that's
05:47 a really good thing because the driver can find the right driving position immediately,
05:51 other than that it's got a good turning radius, yeah it's a big car, but it's got a pretty
05:57 decent amount of turning radius, you do not need to take a three-point turn all the time,
06:00 so yeah moving on to the seats, now the seats have ventilated, these are ventilated seats
06:05 and these are cool seats, they do not have a heated option, so again ventilated seats,
06:10 the driver's side and the passenger side both are electronically operated, but the driver's
06:14 side gets a height adjuster, while the passenger side does not get a height adjuster.
06:17 Now talking about the rear seats, so the rear seats as you can see it has three individual
06:21 headrests, so three people can sit comfortably and you also have a centre armrest where it
06:26 has two bottle holders and you can obviously put it down if there are four people travelling
06:31 and you can use the centre armrest as an armrest obviously and you also have rear AC vents
06:38 that actually help cool down the cabin really well and talking of the AC, it's got a single
06:41 zone climate control, but the AC is actually excellent at 26-27 degrees also, it can cool
06:47 down the cabin on a hot day like this and ventilated seats obviously are a boon on top
06:51 of that.
06:52 Now let's talk about the specifications of this car, so the engine specifications we're
07:01 going to talk particularly about this one, so this is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol
07:06 engine that pumps out 141bhp of power and 250nm of peak torque and it is mated to a
07:12 CVT gearbox, now it's a six-step CVT gearbox and yeah, it's a pretty decent setup I would
07:18 say, power figures are okay, I mean it has got that initial, I mean it is slightly linear
07:25 on the initial acceleration, but it's got a good mid-range and a good top-end if you
07:29 see, if I floor it, right now it is on D mode and if I put it on S mode, you can see it
07:39 becomes way more aggressive, so mode-wise there are, you have your Eco mode that's on
07:44 a button, you have your normal drive mode that is D and when you put on S, so the gearbox
07:49 goes into S mode and that is what helps it to move quicker on the speed part, so you
07:55 are at triple-digit speeds within no time and overall guys, the suspension setup is
08:01 really nice, it actually absorbs all the bumps and potholes that the city or the highway
08:07 has to offer, well it's a big car, you will have body roll, it's got decent amount of
08:11 ground clearance as well, but it's a comfortable car overall, the steering wheel is also nice,
08:16 it's responsive, it does not have a lag and it is pretty light, it does not weigh up,
08:21 but it is somewhere in between, that's really nice, overall at low speeds also it's the
08:26 same and high speeds also is the same, so I would say, I mean you will have a pretty
08:31 decent silent ride and these levels are good, as you can see you cannot hear anything, if
08:35 I just open the window right now, I mean yeah, there are no cars right now, but yeah, there
08:41 is a lot of wind noise, but the engine noise is good, so it just cuts you out from the
08:45 outside world, rest guys, this only, this is the only disadvantage that this car has
08:50 about the mileage, so we will be doing a different video about the mileage efficiency of this
08:53 car, well I'll just tell you the approximate mileage figures on the city, you will be getting
09:00 somewhere between say 8 to 9, that's single digit and on the highways where you will see
09:05 somewhere between 11 to 12, the claimed mileage figure is around 12.3 or 12.5 that the company
09:10 claims for the petrol version, well if you need a little more mileage, then you can also
09:14 opt for the diesel version and we will be doing a mileage test on the diesel one as
