00:00:30 College basketball is back.

00:00:34 Unfortunately, they all kind of stink.

00:00:37 Hopefully we get some good ones today.

00:00:39 It's about 4 p.m. Central, 5 p.m. Pacific.

00:00:43 So the games are about to really get underway.

00:00:46 I think USC Kansas State is the big one

00:00:51 that they're playing in Vegas.

00:00:53 I think that's like the most interesting game,

00:00:57 which is kind of saying a lot.

00:00:59 I don't know why it's not a better slate.

00:01:08 but he is obviously a huge Wisconsin fan,

00:01:12 college basketball fan.

00:01:13 And he's the reason I work here.

00:01:15 So we're opening up our new office today in full.

00:01:19 We've been doing shows out of this studio for a while,

00:01:21 but the whole office is now open and fully functional.

00:01:25 And it's a fun day, both in the Barstool universe,

00:01:28 but also in the college basketball universe.

00:01:30 I thought Big Cat has to come on the show.

00:01:32 We have to just talk about basically everything.

00:01:34 So that's what we did today.

00:01:36 We talked college basketball starting.

00:01:37 We talked about his vision for the new office,

00:01:41 all sorts of other stuff.

00:01:42 It was a ton of fun.

00:01:43 We love having him on the show.

00:01:44 He was, TJ, correct me if I'm wrong,

00:01:46 him and PFT were, what was it, episode zero?

00:01:48 - Episode zero, yes.

00:01:49 - So he was not technically the first guest.

00:01:51 'Cause that episode, how does that work in lore?

00:01:58 So I guess that wasn't it.

00:01:59 - It didn't count.

00:02:28 We just now officially unveiled the new office.

00:02:33 - What's the emotion?

00:02:35 Anything reflective?

00:02:38 - I'm gonna choke up.

00:02:40 This is like your Rod Tidwell interview.

00:02:42 No, it's incredible.

00:02:45 It's everything I envisioned, but even better.

00:02:50 And it obviously has been a vision for,

00:02:52 like I think most people know the story of Barstool,

00:02:56 but like this wasn't something

00:02:58 I specifically was envisioning.

00:03:00 I think as Barstool, we were envisioning this.

00:03:02 We almost did this when we moved to New York.

00:03:05 We tried to find a space like this.

00:03:07 It was, turns out New York's very hard to find real estate

00:03:10 with this type of size.

00:03:12 But I remember we looked at a place in Long Island City

00:03:14 and we're like, well, we'll never get guests to come here.

00:03:16 And we gotta be in the mix.

00:03:18 So I think Dave had this vision for a very long time.

00:03:21 I've had this vision since I probably watched

00:03:23 the first episode of "Robin Big"

00:03:25 and "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory."

00:03:28 So yeah, when people were like,

00:03:30 oh, this is just a rip off of "Robin Big"

00:03:32 or "Dude Perfect" or "Pat McAfee."

00:03:34 It's like, well, yeah, it's-

00:03:35 - Yes, exactly.

00:03:36 - We all have seen like how sick it would be

00:03:39 to work in a warehouse where you can just do fun shit

00:03:42 with your friends all the time.

00:03:43 So yeah, guilty as charged, but I'm like,

00:03:46 I had this thought and it's a crazy thought

00:03:49 and I'm not going to retire anytime soon,

00:03:52 but this is the last office I'll ever work in,

00:03:54 which is crazy. - Oh shit.

00:03:56 - It's a fact.

00:03:57 Like I'm never gonna go anywhere else.

00:04:00 I'm never gonna go, which-

00:04:02 - I don't like that.

00:04:04 - Our mutual friend hates when I do this on air,

00:04:08 when I just negotiate against myself.

00:04:10 And I'm like, I'll never leave Marstools.

00:04:12 Stop fucking saying that out loud.

00:04:13 But yeah, I'll never, like this is my last office.

00:04:19 I'll die in this office.

00:04:28 And I was like, this is kind of morbid thing to say,

00:04:36 but it's probably the truth, right?

00:04:38 'Cause like, I'm not gonna move again.

00:05:13 and we're gonna get to college basketball, obviously sports.

00:05:15 They just come in waves and it's like every new season,

00:05:19 it's like, all right, I gotta, like, I love it.

00:05:22 But like trying to be like,

00:05:24 get myself up to speed on everything, it's not,

00:05:27 it's getting harder as I get a little older.

00:05:29 - One of the nice things about being older

00:05:30 is if your team does suck, it's not as,

00:05:32 it doesn't feel like it's as long of a suck.

00:05:36 - Right.

00:05:37 - I mean, the Bears have sucked for a while,

00:05:37 but you know what, but like every season,

00:05:39 like the Bears next first game

00:05:43 will come faster than you think.

00:05:44 - Yeah.

00:05:45 - And when you're like younger, you're like,

00:05:46 oh my God, dude, that's still fucking 11 months away.

00:05:49 - Yeah.

00:05:50 - You gotta sit, but now you're like, oh shit,

00:05:51 I have a football season.

00:05:52 - It'll be fine.

00:05:53 - Yeah.

00:05:53 - Yeah, and I like enjoy the off season more.

00:05:54 I did have, I take my son to school every morning

00:05:58 and every Monday he asked me, did the Bears win?

00:06:01 And today, after he has asked me every single week

00:06:04 and I've had to give him seven no's and only two yeses,

00:06:08 I explained to him the principle of tanking.

00:06:11 I was like, we did not win, but we did.

00:06:14 And he was like, what?

00:06:15 It was like, so they won?

00:06:17 I was like, no, but yes.

00:06:20 And it was only like, it's like a five minute drive.

00:06:22 So we didn't get it all the way.

00:06:24 We're gonna hammer that home later tonight.

00:06:26 - You gotta be careful.

00:06:27 You're sending the wrong message.

00:06:29 That's sometimes in life, if you fail so badly,

00:06:31 it's actually a good thing.

00:06:32 - Well, he gets all excited because his teacher is,

00:06:36 I know a Bears fan, so I tell him when they win,

00:06:38 I'm like, go tell your teacher.

00:06:40 - Oh yeah.

00:06:40 - The Bears won, but I didn't want,

00:06:42 like, and when I say they lost,

00:06:44 he's like, I don't want to tell him that.

00:06:45 So today I was trying to get him like,

00:06:46 hey, look, go tell him we kind of still won.

00:06:50 Yeah, yeah.

00:06:51 - Tell him Caleb Williams looked really good.

00:06:53 - But yeah, this is the last office and it's great.

00:06:55 It's everything I dreamed of.

00:06:57 It's really like, I've always thought at our core,

00:07:01 barstool, yeah, like we can sometimes say

00:07:04 some smart things about sports.

00:07:06 We can be funny, but like at its core,

00:07:09 what barstool should always be is a collection of people

00:07:13 that the audience wants to be friends with.

00:07:15 - Yeah, yeah, there needs to be like that underlying,

00:07:18 everyone watching is a little bit jealous of us.

00:07:21 - Yeah, but--

00:07:21 - But we're not like rubbing your face in it.

00:07:23 - Right.

00:07:23 - But like we are having a good--

00:07:24 - 'Cause we're so bad, well not you,

00:07:25 but like we're so, the rest of the office

00:07:27 is so bad at sports.

00:07:28 - Yeah.

00:07:28 - They get to, there's a little bit of jealousy,

00:07:30 but then there's also like, ha ha, these guys suck.

00:07:32 - These guys suck, yeah.

00:07:33 - Right.

00:07:34 - Yeah.

00:07:35 - Right.

00:07:35 - Yeah, and yeah, we still even,

00:07:37 yeah, we all make ourselves look like fucking idiots,

00:07:39 whether it's playing sports or otherwise.

00:07:40 - It's the beauty of this.

00:07:41 - Yeah.

00:07:42 - You learn that, I learned that like when we did

00:07:44 the barstool combine back in like 2013.

00:07:47 - Yeah.

00:07:47 - And people just shredded us for that video.

00:07:50 And it's like, yeah, they like to laugh.

00:07:52 It's why golf videos go crazy.

00:07:54 - Yeah.

00:07:55 - 'Cause they like to see bad golfers be bad at golf.

00:07:56 So we are set up to continue that for a very long time

00:08:01 and make some incredible content.

00:08:03 And I think the audience is gonna love it.

00:08:05 And I think it's like, it's just,

00:08:07 everything's kind of falling into place.

00:08:09 It's great, I'm a knock on wood,

00:08:10 but everything is falling into place that like,

00:08:12 I have all the people that I like doing content around,

00:08:16 like the space is awesome.

00:08:17 And it just feels like the sky's the limit.

00:08:19 - Yeah, I told you like last week that I had a moment

00:08:24 where I was like, oh shit,

00:08:25 the office isn't even really open yet.

00:08:27 And I've already, I really have just like immensely enjoyed

00:08:30 my time working here.

00:08:31 - Yeah.

00:08:32 - And it's been like the weirdest onboarding,

00:08:34 I wouldn't say like ever, but it was like a very strange

00:08:36 onboarding for me 'cause like as I'm talking to you

00:08:38 and Erica and Dave about coming here,

00:08:40 the vision was always this.

00:08:42 And so for me to like sign the contract and I'm in,

00:08:45 I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna go work at Barstool,

00:08:46 we're gonna build the sweet new office in Chicago

00:08:49 and all that.

00:08:50 And then I look up and like, I'm staying in a tiny ass hotel

00:08:52 in Manhattan or like I'm back in LA or whatever.

00:08:55 I'm like, damn, what the, but I still,

00:08:58 I still like throughout the first however many months,

00:09:00 like I loved it.

00:09:01 And then I had that moment like last week where I was like,

00:09:03 that's right, we haven't even really,

00:09:05 like all of this is just like, this didn't even count.

00:09:08 This was like practice.

00:09:09 This was like the lead up to like the real thing.

00:09:10 - To the real thing, yeah.

00:09:11 - And now we're here.

00:09:13 - You had it the hardest too out of anyone because I,

00:09:15 there was, the last four months have been weird

00:09:18 and I'm very, very aware of the audience.

00:09:20 And I care a lot about like putting out a good product

00:09:23 every single day to the people.

00:09:25 Maybe not saying factually correct things all the time

00:09:27 because that's hard to do.

00:09:29 But I do care about putting out a very good product

00:09:32 that I'm proud of to the audience.

00:09:34 And the last four months have been,

00:09:35 it's been challenging because we've been moving,

00:09:38 transitioning, weird spaces, doing Zoom interviews,

00:09:41 doing Zoom PMTs, like all this stuff.

00:09:45 And then I thought about it.

00:09:46 I was like, well, Mark has had it way harder

00:09:48 because he started a new job,

00:09:51 doesn't like knows a bunch of us,

00:09:53 but doesn't know all of us.

00:09:54 And you had to have your audience be like,

00:09:57 he left Fox for this?

00:09:59 - Yeah.

00:10:00 - And then you have those like four, five, six months

00:10:02 where everyone's like, what a bad career decision.

00:10:05 And you had to eat all that shit.

00:10:06 It's like, I tell people all the time, trust the process.

00:10:09 You were there when I said that on the Yak,

00:10:12 like when we first got here, I was like, guys,

00:10:13 I know it's gonna be weird.

00:10:14 I know it's gonna suck for a little bit.

00:10:16 Just trust that I always am thinking

00:10:18 about the audience first.

00:10:20 And it's hard for some people to do that.

00:10:22 And there's, I'm sure people in your audience

00:10:24 who were like, this fucking sucks.

00:10:26 But now you get the payoff.

00:10:28 For everyone who's loyal, you get the payoff.

00:10:29 - Right, yeah.

00:10:30 Launching, I do not recommend launching a solo show

00:10:33 at a new company that you do remotely to anybody.

00:10:37 If you've never done a solo show before, how's that?

00:10:39 - Do you know what it is?

00:10:40 You actually, one of the luckiest things that happened

00:10:43 to PMT, which was not by design, was we started,

00:10:46 pardon my take, March 1st, 2016.

00:10:50 So we started, pardon my take,

00:10:53 in the depths of football off season.

00:10:56 So we had to basically like find a way

00:10:58 to find our footing, find what the show was gonna be

00:11:02 in the toughest time of the year to make content.

00:11:05 And we were so much better off for it

00:11:07 'cause when football happened, we're like, oh fuck.

00:11:09 Like this show. - This is easy.

00:11:11 - This is easy, we could do this.

00:11:12 So I feel like you had a similar situation

00:11:14 where it's like you started on expert mode,

00:11:17 now everything's gonna get easy.

00:11:18 - Yeah, dude, when, yeah, you're doing middle of summer

00:11:22 shows and TJ's in New York and I'm in LA.

00:11:25 And yeah, I booked a guest, but he had to cancel

00:11:29 and I'm just going solo.

00:11:31 - And also, people would be like, oh, well Titus,

00:11:35 what is he, he went to Barcelona to do a solo show?

00:11:37 It's like, no, dude, you've been planning that show

00:11:40 with Brandon, Mostly Sports, for a very long time.

00:11:43 I was always planning on getting you integrated

00:11:44 in the YAC, but people can't conceptualize that

00:11:47 and they're just knee jerk, like what an idiot,

00:11:49 why did he do that?

00:11:51 So I'm happy you're here.

00:11:53 I remember we had a two hour phone call last summer.

00:11:56 I felt like Cal in the living room being like,

00:12:00 here's what we got, we got a bunch of guys

00:12:04 going to the league, we got a spot for you,

00:12:07 we got minutes for you.

00:12:08 - If I'm being completely honest, I always trusted you.

00:12:10 I did not trust the other pieces, per se,

00:12:13 which isn't to say I thought it was gonna be fucked up,

00:12:16 it was just like, I don't really know.

00:12:17 - Yeah, you were in flux.

00:12:18 - I don't know who, yeah, I don't know

00:12:20 whether I should trust the bar stool machine

00:12:23 to actually build this office,

00:12:25 if it's actually gonna look like what I, you know.

00:12:26 - Oh, I had doubts too, so that's a very fair thing.

00:12:29 There was times where I was like, wouldn't--

00:12:29 - Well, you just got the shirt, man,

00:12:30 I was like, all right, well, fuck it, I trust Dan, so.

00:12:33 - I was probably projecting a lot on that phone call.

00:12:35 I was like, dude, don't worry, don't worry,

00:12:37 like as I'm just sitting there worrying

00:12:38 about every little thing.

00:12:40 - All right, well, off season is over.

00:12:43 College basketball has started.

00:12:44 I wanted to celebrate the start by having you on.

00:12:47 First of all, 'cause you are probably, I mean,

00:12:51 I don't know, people would take offense to this

00:12:53 that work here, but like, I honestly think

00:12:55 you might be the second biggest college basketball fan

00:12:56 at this company.

00:12:57 - In this Chicago office, you know, Rico and Riggs

00:13:00 are very big college basketball fans.

00:13:00 - That's true, Riggs, Riggs, Riggs, yeah.

00:13:02 - I would definitely put them ahead of me,

00:13:04 but yeah, in this bar stool Chicago office,

00:13:06 yeah, I mean, I love college ball.

00:13:07 - Yeah, so the season starts today,

00:13:10 and I guess like my first thing I wanna talk about

00:13:12 is like why this sport can't have a,

00:13:16 like what happened to the tip-off marathon?

00:13:18 Why is it always like a wet fart to a start of a season?

00:13:22 - It's crazy.

00:13:23 Why, what happened to the 24 hours?

00:13:26 What happened to the midnight madness?

00:13:27 Like, was it called midnight madness?

00:13:29 - Yeah, yeah, midnight madness.

00:13:30 - Yeah, midnight madness, where they would just be like,

00:13:31 all right, here's a game in Hawaii,

00:13:33 here's a game in California, here's a fucking random team

00:13:37 in upstate New York that's gonna play at 6 a.m.

00:13:39 - Yeah. - Like why not that?

00:13:41 - Yeah, they did away with, the midnight madness

00:13:43 used to be practice starts on this day,

00:13:45 so it was like a Friday, or like a Saturday morning

00:13:49 a practice would start, so on Friday,

00:13:51 once o'clock at midnight into,

00:13:52 it's now technically Saturday. - All the fans come out.

00:13:54 - Then you can start practicing,

00:13:56 but they did away with that whole thing,

00:13:57 and they were like, yeah, start practice

00:13:58 whatever time you want, whatever day you want.

00:14:00 Like, it's based on when your first game is,

00:14:02 but yeah, so like, there's no like one singular day

00:14:06 where we're all watching the practices

00:14:07 and the midnight madness, and oh my God,

00:14:09 Cal got Drake to come to Lexington again.

00:14:11 - Yeah. - How many years in a row

00:14:12 is that? - It's crazy.

00:14:13 - There's none of that, there's no opening day, really.

00:14:16 It is today, but it's also like, you open up your app,

00:14:19 you're scrolling through, and you're like,

00:14:20 the best game is probably USC Kansas State tonight,

00:14:24 and it's, I think at nine, Central, I think it's 10 Eastern.

00:14:27 - What they should do is they should just replay

00:14:30 like the Final Four every year.

00:14:32 - I have no idea, yeah. - On the first day.

00:14:33 Like, be like, all right, we're gonna play,

00:14:35 like, obviously this year would be a little different

00:14:37 because it was a weird Final Four,

00:14:39 but be like, UConn Miami are tipping,

00:14:41 FAU San Diego State's tipping,

00:14:43 Tuesday we'll play the winner.

00:14:44 And it's like, everyone's like, hey.

00:14:45 - All four of those teams are good,

00:14:46 so that wouldn't be that crazy.

00:14:47 - And just get us back into it, like, but I agree,

00:14:49 there's, they definitely are missing the moment,

00:14:52 and maybe it's coaches scared of catching a loss

00:14:56 first thing. - I think it's too,

00:14:58 that football has just swallowed everything alive

00:15:01 in this country. - Yeah.

00:15:02 - Everybody just has been conditioned

00:15:05 to not compete with football, so Monday night,

00:15:08 you don't really wanna do anything big.

00:15:11 is a tough time to start. - Max short.

00:15:14 but also, I didn't even think about this,

00:15:16 but someone pointed out not too long ago

00:15:22 - I guess, like, every first-- - What the fuck?

00:15:24 - Every first November there's an election.

00:15:25 - Are you serious? - Every first Tuesday

00:15:27 in November there's an election.

00:15:28 - I don't vote, so people are gonna get mad at that,

00:15:33 to fill out forms.

00:15:35 That's literally the only reason.

00:15:40 - I think my wife might vote for me,

00:15:56 you don't wanna do Sunday and compete against the NFL,

00:15:57 so basically, I think what happens is the powers that be

00:16:01 just talk to themselves in circles,

00:16:02 and then they shrug their shoulders and they're like,

00:16:04 fuck, I don't know what day to start, just kinda--

00:16:06 - It's so stupid. - So there's no starting gun,

00:16:08 it's just kinda like, yeah, just kinda go out there

00:16:09 and figure it out on your own,

00:16:10 and there's no big moment that's like,

00:16:12 we have this triple header lined up

00:16:14 for the first night of college.

00:16:15 - And started it like noon.

00:16:17 - Yeah. - You know?

00:16:18 - Yeah. - Started at noon,

00:16:19 let us watch all these games,

00:16:21 'cause college basketball fans,

00:16:22 and I guess there is kind of the opening

00:16:25 of college basketball season is kinda feast week,

00:16:28 which is my favorite week of the entire year.

00:16:31 There's nothing better than feast week,

00:16:33 but yeah, you're right, we're missing that big punch

00:16:37 that gets people bought back in.

00:16:39 - Yeah, Champions Classic will be better this year

00:16:42 than it is. - Oh, yeah,

00:16:43 are you gonna go? - I'm going, yeah.

00:16:44 - I'm going as well, yeah. - But it's next week.

00:16:45 - Yeah. - I don't, yeah,

00:16:47 I do think that those coaches just got scared

00:16:49 of opening the season with that game.

00:16:51 They're just like, we don't wanna make that

00:16:52 our first game of the year, but that's what makes--

00:16:53 - But it's so stupid, no one's gonna remember that game.

00:16:55 - We play a thousand games in the season.

00:16:56 - Yeah, and no one remembers that game

00:16:58 when they look at the bracketology.

00:16:59 I guess they will, 'cause they'll be like,

00:17:01 oh, quad one win, but who cares?

00:17:03 - We should have an understanding that,

00:17:05 I wish, the games have to count,

00:17:08 but there's gotta be a way that, yeah,

00:17:10 incentivize everybody. - You should get a half,

00:17:11 you should get a quad two win for losing a quad one game.

00:17:16 - Wins count, but the losses don't.

00:17:18 - No, if you lose a quad one game,

00:17:22 it counts as a quad two win. - A quad two win.

00:17:24 - That's what it should count as.

00:17:25 - Yeah, and incentivize everybody to play a tougher schedule.

00:17:30 So what to you as a fan,

00:17:33 but also maybe you're not in it 24/7,

00:17:36 what to you, entering the season,

00:17:38 is the story of college basketball?

00:17:39 What's the first thing that comes to mind?

00:17:40 - Okay, well, there's a couple things.

00:17:43 The first is, I think that my due cade is all the way back.

00:17:49 - Really? - Yeah.

00:17:51 - Wow. - 'Cause I think I'm gonna hate

00:17:53 Kyle Filipowski so much, 'cause he's one of those guys

00:17:56 that's been around, was this his third year?

00:17:58 - This is only his second. - Second year.

01:10:23 but I think we might just do that throughout the whole season

01:10:27 because doing a Tuesday, Thursday cadence

01:10:32 is too much of a break in between the Thursday show

01:10:34 and the Tuesday show.

01:10:35 There's like way too much that's going to be going on

01:10:37 in the college basketball world.

01:10:38 So I forgot to announce it.

01:10:39 I should have said this at the top,

01:10:41 but moving forward, we are going to,

01:10:44 yeah, starting this week,

01:10:45 we are going to shift from a Tuesday, Thursday cadence

01:10:48 to a Tuesday, Friday cadence.

01:10:50 So that way, the Tuesday show isn't like,

01:10:53 you know, if there's like an awesome game

01:10:55 on Thursday night or like Friday,

01:10:57 or there's a game on Friday,

01:10:59 and then the next Tuesday rolls around,

01:11:00 and I'm talking about that,

01:11:01 the whole world has forgotten about that game.

01:11:03 So I want a little more,

01:11:05 I want a little more consistency

01:11:07 with like being able to talk about game.

01:11:09 I don't want that big of a break

01:11:10 in between a Thursday and a Tuesday show.

01:11:11 So we're going to push Thursday shows to Friday now,

01:11:15 starting this week, because,

01:11:16 and you know,

01:11:18 Barstool Invitational's on Wednesday anyway.

01:11:20 So I want to make sure we talk plenty about that,

01:11:24 record on Thursday morning,

01:11:25 and have plenty to talk about there.

01:11:27 So anyway, I just wanted to say that.

01:11:29 We will be back on Friday, not Thursday.

01:11:31 When the show does not show up on Thursday,

01:11:34 I know everyone's still going to be tweeting at me

01:11:35 and reaching out and say, "What happened?
