00:00 Hi and welcome back to another episode of Screenbabel Weekend Watch. I'm Stephen,
00:04 National Wales Digital Trends writer and I'll be talking you through the
00:08 upcoming films and TV shows coming to TV, cinemas and streaming this weekend and
00:13 beyond. So first up this week as discussed in the main podcast, again go
00:18 back and listen to that if you haven't, I will be saying it every week because the
00:21 main podcast is even better than Weekend Watch, but The Crown comes out on
00:26 Netflix on Thursday the 16th. The first four episodes of the final season which
00:32 feature predominantly Elizabeth DeBecke and fantastically playing Princess
00:38 Diana. Yeah, very great season, that's out on Thursday. So kicking things off on
00:43 Friday the 17th of November we have a fairly big movie, The Hunger Games - The
00:48 Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This comes to cinemas exclusively, it is a
00:54 prequel to the Hunger Games movies that made Jennifer Lawrence a household name.
01:01 It's based on the prequel novel by Suzanne Collins and it takes place during
01:06 the 10th annual Hunger Games, so it's set 60 odd years before the events of the
01:11 the original trilogy. So yes, a prequel to the original films and it follows a
01:16 younger Coriolanus Snow, the villain from the the other movies, as he mentors
01:23 and develops feelings for a tribute from District 12. It stars Rachel Zegler who
01:30 has raised controversy through her role as Snow White in an upcoming
01:35 Disney live-action adaptation, as well as Viola Davis and Tom Blyth who will be
01:41 playing Coriolanus Snow. So yes, that's exclusively in cinemas this Friday. Then
01:48 on TV we have the Big Brother live finale on ITV1. There's currently eight
01:54 contestants left in the Big Brother house that will be whittled down no doubt
01:58 before the finale, which will air live from 9 p.m. Then again on Friday, as
02:04 Benji discussed in the main podcast, definitely worth a listen if you've not
02:08 already, Monarch Legacy of Monsters comes to Apple TV. This is a 10 episode series
02:15 starring Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt Russell. Kurt Russell best known for The
02:20 Thing, so maybe there'll be some some sort of references in there, some sort of
02:24 creature feature. This is set after the battle between Godzilla and the
02:29 Titans, which reveals to the world that these massive monsters are real. It
02:35 follows Kurt Russell's character and his son as they search to uncover
02:42 the buried secrets of these monsters that are hidden across the world. So two
02:49 episodes come out on Friday on Apple TV and then the remaining eight episodes
02:54 will be released weekly on Fridays. Then again on Friday evening we have
02:59 Children in Need, the three-hour fundraising show which will feature a
03:05 number of various celebrity specials and comic takes on well-known
03:12 shows. It airs from 7 till 10 p.m. on BBC One. I'll be raising money obviously for
03:18 Children in Need. On Saturday we have the Strictly Come Dancing's back, as to be
03:24 expected, but this time it's the Blackpool special, so a highlight of
03:29 every series for Strictly fans. This place is set this time, obviously
03:33 filmed in Blackpool, probably the biggest event to come to Blackpool since last
03:40 year when Strictly Come Dancing was there once again. It airs on BBC One at 6.40 p.m.
03:47 And then it's been a big week for reality TV and we'll be capping things
03:51 off on Sunday evening with the launch of I'm a Celebrity on ITV1, just shows that
03:57 as another one door closes with Big Brother coming to an end, I'm a Celebrity
04:02 launches and TV writers literally can't catch a break. So we have Nigel Farage
04:07 joining the camp which is staggering but he was offered 1.5 million reportedly so
04:15 who's going to turn that down? Also Britney Spears' sister Jamie Lynn, among
04:20 other stars including Marvin Humes and various others. It's probably one of the
04:25 biggest lineups there's ever been for the show and Ant & Dec will of course be
04:30 on hand to present live from Australia and there'll be plenty of Bush Tucker
04:35 trials incoming. So yes the live launch show or part live I should say, it will
04:42 air 9 p.m. on ITV1 and then be available on ITVX thereafter and I'm a Celebrity
04:49 who most nights on ITV as well. Well thanks for listening to another
04:55 Weekend Watch, I'll be back next weekend with more Screenbabel recommendations.
05:00 Thank you.
