00:00 Hi and welcome back to another episode of Screen Babble Weekend Watch. I'm Stephen, a senior
00:05 journalist and National World's Digital Trends writer. I'll be talking you through what to watch
00:10 this weekend and beyond on TV and streaming and at the cinemas. So to start on Friday the 15th of
00:17 December we have season two of Reacher, the spin-off series of the films that starred Tom
00:23 Cruise. This time we see Jack Reacher, a veteran police investigator played by Alan Richson,
00:31 as he receives a coded message that members of his former army unit are being mysteriously and
00:38 brutally killed off one by one. He's pulled from his drifter lifestyle to investigate these new
00:44 murders and three episodes of this crime drama series have landed on Friday on Amazon Prime
00:53 Video with five more episodes in the second season airing weekly on Fridays. Then something a little
01:00 bit different and a little more festive, Christmas in the Cotswolds. This is a one-off Channel 5
01:06 documentary special about people who make the Cotswolds all Christmassy in time for the festive
01:12 season. Locations include the Broadway's Christmas Market, Bedford Festive Flora, the Slott's Manor
01:20 House and Cotswold Reindeer Herd. These are all featured in the one-off documentary which airs at
01:26 9pm on Friday. Then in cinemas is creature feature Godzilla Minus One. This is a Japanese
01:36 version of the film going back to its roots. Cinema's biggest metaphor returns. The film is
01:43 set in post-war Japan at the time when the country was still occupied by US troops and
01:51 at this period a new crisis emerges in the form of the giant monster Godzilla, monster and almost
01:59 malevolent God, who comes to the fore with the power of the atomic bomb coursing through his
02:06 veins. It's kind of the Godzilla film that the 2014 Godzilla wishes it was according to the
02:13 most recent reviews that are coming in. So that's hitting cinemas on Friday and one to catch. Once
02:21 in cinemas and now on Netflix is Chicken Run Donovan Nugget, a sequel to the 2000 album film,
02:28 reports of a lack of clay supplies have been seriously overreported. The studio says it's
02:35 good to go for many more films going forward. The Chicken Run sequel stars Tandy Newton as Ginger
02:41 and Zachary Levi as Rocky, replacing Mel Gibson and Julia Swale. So Wyler from the first film,
02:47 Bella Ramsey, Imelda Staunton and David Bradley also star. So the film follows Ginger and Rocky
02:55 having escaped from Tweedy's farm as seen in the first film and now living on a peaceful island
03:01 sanctuary, but they find a new threat back on the mainland and must break back in. Okay, now also on
03:09 Friday we have the final season of Archer, that's season 14. The episode was previously released in
03:15 the UK but all nine episodes will now land on Netflix in one go. The series sees Archer and the
03:23 agency working with Lana now at the helm as she aims to make money whilst also making the world a
03:32 better place, but quickly finds out that running a spy agency isn't as easy as she expected.
03:37 It features much more of the spy flick satire and workplace shenanigans that made the first 13
03:46 seasons so popular and there seems to be no drop-off in quality going forward. This is the final
03:52 season and then on Saturday what many Strictly fans are waiting for, the grand final that ends at
04:00 7pm on BBC One and the remaining couples will perform their final routines in the hopes of being
04:06 crowned Strictly champion. We'll also see a performance by Cher and the full cast of 2023
04:15 will return once more for a final epic routine before the winner is crowned. Then on Sunday
04:22 we have the Royal Variety Performance 2023. This was pre-recorded so it's not available to watch
04:28 live but will air at 8pm. It's hosted by Bradley Walsh, host of The Chase and recent star of Doctor
04:35 Who. It will feature Cher as the headline star but also performances by McFly, Rick Astley,
04:43 Pullover Fifth and a special Disney 100th anniversary performance. This year the show
04:49 was attended by Kate Milton and Prince William. Well that's all from me, thanks very much for
04:56 listening and join me again next week for more Screenbable weekend watch recommendations.
05:01 Thank you very much.
