00:00 Good morning and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04 So after an unsettled day for most of us on Thursday, it looks like a bit of a change
00:07 is on the way as we head towards the weekend. This cold front across the south of the UK
00:12 clears its way south and eastwards, allowing high pressure to develop, but northerly winds
00:16 across much of the UK as we head towards the weekend, so something a little bit colder
00:20 is on the way.
00:22 Back to the here and now though, and a little bit of cloud around for many of us this morning.
00:26 Some outbreaks of patchy rain and drizzle across parts of Wales and south-west England,
00:30 but for many of us it will be a much drier and brighter start to the day. Plenty of sunshine
00:34 developing as we head through this afternoon, a few isolated showers along eastern coast,
00:38 these perhaps turning wintry across parts of Scotland through this afternoon, but for
00:42 many of us it will be a dry day. Temperatures down a touch compared to what we saw yesterday
00:46 as well, generally the mid to high single figures, but with that northerly wind, particularly
00:51 across the north and the east, it will be feeling much closer to freezing.
00:55 Much milder across the very far south under that cloud and rain, but generally cooler
00:59 than what we saw on Thursday.
01:02 As we go through Friday evening, those clear skies will allow temperatures to drop off
01:06 quite quickly overnight, so a widespread frost developing as we go into the start of the
01:10 weekend. Temperatures down around freezing, particularly across Northern Ireland, parts
01:14 of Scotland, into Wales and south-west England as well, where we haven't seen much of a frost
01:18 so far this season. We could see temperatures as low as -5 or -6, but generally towns and
01:24 cities will be holding up around zero. Just a touch milder as well across those eastern
01:28 coasts with a slightly stronger breeze as well to start on Saturday.
01:32 So for many of us, Saturday will start very chilly, but very bright. Plenty of sunshine
01:37 around as we go through Saturday morning, leaving a very crisp autumnal day, plenty
01:41 of blue skies around. Still a few showers skirting along those eastern coasts, but these
01:46 most likely falling as rain, and winds will gradually start to ease as we go through the
01:50 day on Saturday, so that perhaps just taking a touch off those temperatures, although not
01:54 much above those mid to high single figures again. A bit of hazy sunshine as well developing
01:59 from the west as we go through Saturday afternoon, and that leads to the hints of something more
02:03 unsettled on the way as we head through Sunday. But you can find out more about that on our
02:07 social media channels, and don't forget to find out more on our YouTube as well. Bye
02:11 bye.
