00:03 >> Troy, just instant reaction, what do you take away from tonight's game and
00:08 how do you guys bounce back from second straight big loss?
00:13 >> Yeah, we gotta find a way.
00:15 I mean, I've been down before, and found a way to fight back.
00:21 And that's just what it is.
00:22 I mean, we're in just a difficult situation right now.
00:27 We just gotta figure it out.
00:28 We'll get through it.
00:29 And I ain't got no worry about it.
00:34 >> Quinn was mentioning that you guys got a lot of good looks tonight.
00:36 The ball just wasn't going in.
00:38 Psychologically, when you don't see that happening,
00:40 how do you guys try to either bounce back or find a way to push through it?
00:46 >> Yeah, I mean, that can be tough.
00:47 It can be deflating whenever you get the looks that you want.
00:51 And we're getting good shots and they just weren't going in.
00:54 And it's deflating.
00:56 But I think the first half, we were still playing pretty good defense.
01:00 But also at the same time, when you're missing shots and
01:03 shots that you're, I mean, used to hitting or supposed to be making.
01:07 It gives them good looks on the other end too,
01:10 especially if they get a rebound and we're attacking the glass.
01:12 And we're down in numbers or I go in, I should have lay up and
01:17 I'm on the ground there, they have numbers.
01:18 So sometimes when the ball don't go in, it gives them momentum offensively.
01:23 And they knocked down some shots tonight.
01:25 And that's what can lead to it, we don't get shots.
01:29 >> Trey, the first quarter you took a deep three near the logo and
01:32 then you missed it and then you made it.
01:35 And then you shook your head like you should have made that,
01:38 the one before that as well.
01:39 What's your mental process or what do you tell your teammates,
01:42 especially just keeping that confidence to keep shooting?
01:45 >> I mean, I'm constantly preaching to my teammates to keep shooting.
01:49 Even when Sadik will miss a couple early and we want him to keep shooting.
01:53 We want Bogey to keep shooting.
01:54 We want Jalen to shoot when he's open.
01:57 And I mean, everybody keeps shooting.
01:59 So it's no different when I'm shooting, they're telling me to keep shooting.
02:04 And I thought the first one should have went in and
02:09 a couple of my shots have been going in and out.
02:11 And this is just part of it and
02:13 it'll be a time where they go back in and it'll be rolling again.
02:19 So yeah, everybody just kind of preaches to each other to kind of keep shooting.
02:22 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:28 >> Try defensively, one or two things you feel like if we can take care of these
02:32 things, a lot of other things will solve themselves.
02:35 >> I don't know if it's just one or two things.
02:39 I think it's multiple things.
02:42 I mean, we gotta continue to, I mean, be in the right spots, but
02:47 also gotta communicate where, I mean, if we're switching certain things,
02:51 we gotta continue to, it's not just one or two things.
02:55 I think also turning the ball over live can hurt.
03:00 And I mean, they got a lot of transition points as far as just us giving them
03:03 the ball and turning it over.
03:04 And sometimes, I mean, we just can't do that.
03:08 Stuff like that, I mean, stuff like that we can fix.
03:13 >> For you, you mentioned communicating better.
03:15 I'm just kind of curious what, in kind of those tough moments,
03:19 it's psychologically hard to communicate even more?
03:23 >> Yeah, I mean, it's tough to communicate, especially out on the floor.
03:27 I mean, new concepts, guys are, I mean,
03:30 it's not like guys aren't trying to do certain things.
03:34 It's just guys are still like, don't know where they need to be, but
03:38 we gotta talk through it.
03:39 And if we don't know where we need to be, then just continue to talk to each other
03:43 and learn from each other.
03:45 And I mean, nothing great happens overnight, so this is a process.
03:50 And although our record is ass right now, we can be a lot better and
03:56 we'll be a lot better.
03:56 I mean, this is a process, so I'm not worried.
04:01 >> You guys are obviously capable of putting together big offensive runs.
04:07 It just never happened in the second half.
04:09 Were you waiting for it to happen?
04:11 And why couldn't it come tonight?
04:15 >> Man, if I knew the answers, we would have turned it around.
04:20 We didn't have a quarter over 30 tonight.
04:23 That's not like us, not scoring over 100.
04:25 It's not like us.
04:26 And I mean, it's tough saying it's just one of those nights, but
04:31 it's one of those nights we played last night and
04:33 played against a fast team that runs a lot.
04:35 And I guarantee they knew that and wanted to push the pace and be physical and
04:42 just push it right back to us and it worked to their advantage tonight.
04:45 And you never want to be on the losing end of a game like this tonight, but
04:50 it's part of it and that's what we gotta learn.
04:53 And eventually we can't have these types of games.
04:56 >> Coach mentioned that you all played a lot of games recently and
05:02 without practice.
05:03 Would that help with the communication?
05:05 >> Yeah, of course.
05:06 I mean, it's hard cuz people don't necessarily know.
05:11 I mean, Quinn is such a cerebral coach, a cerebral person.
05:16 He needs time, he needs people in there that are gonna listen.
05:21 And I mean, just give the effort that he says and
05:26 it's a lot, it's a lot, but it can work, it can really work.
05:31 And it just takes time and it's gonna take us some time.
05:35 And the guys believe in them.
05:38 And like you said, practice helps and we have back to back.
05:42 It's hard to get into practice and
05:44 even after that it's hard to get into practice cuz you play a couple days later.
05:48 So I know it kind of frustrates him cuz he can't put it in his imprint and
05:53 still in our heads as much as he wants to.
05:55 But and we're a young team, so you're gonna have mishaps and
06:00 certain things because it is complicated, but it will work.
06:05 I really believe that.
06:05 So we just gotta continue to get better and trust this process and
06:09 understand it's gonna start raining eventually.
06:12 >> Yeah, last one.
06:15 >> You mentioned playing the way that he wants to and running cups and so forth.
06:22 Before the game, you were talking about transition defense and
06:24 like how if you're getting back, even if you're behind the ball,
06:28 it's kind of tempting, I think, to jog and
06:32 think like the play's gonna be made ahead of me, but you need to get back.
06:36 Because maybe you need to get the rebound over.
06:38 Is that one of those, you mentioned, I asked you before,
06:40 what are some things that could be fixed with the defense?
06:43 Is that one of the things with everybody getting back,
06:46 busting it to get back on defense after a transition situation?
06:50 >> Yeah, of course, but like I said, it's not just one thing.
06:53 I think transition is definitely part of this, something we can be better at.
06:56 Like I mentioned, turnovers, live ball turnovers hurt us.
06:59 When you're giving them the ball and everybody,
07:01 we usually turn it over on the top of the key.
07:05 They already usually have numbers, so it's already tough.
07:08 But that's definitely a part of our mentality.
07:11 Quinn has definitely been telling us that we gotta be better in transition.
07:15 And I think we did a pretty good job early on, and
07:19 they just kept pushing and kept running.
07:20 So that's pretty much it, but
07:22 it's not just one thing that we can point out on defense.
07:24 It's a lot of things we can be better at.
07:25 >> Thank you.
