00:05 >> Coach Dejounte had another big fourth quarter overtime here.
00:09 He's had some big ones during the stretch, his fourth game on stretch.
00:12 Can you just talk about what he's been doing well?
00:15 >> Yeah, before I talk about what he did on the offensive end,
00:19 having to chase Steph Curry around the whole night.
00:27 We were able to give him a little more help after it got hot, but
00:31 that takes a toll.
00:32 And so for him to be able to do what he did late,
00:37 when he attacks the rim,
00:42 he's able to get to spots and rise up.
00:48 I think with his length and his release, it's really difficult to guard.
00:53 And those spurts too have been really timely,
00:58 whether it's the game winners, or as you mentioned it, when it's late.
01:02 They started to hit on Trey, and
01:06 that's where it's difficult to guard DJ in space.
01:11 And we try to provide him as much court as possible where he can
01:16 beat you off the dribble.
01:18 He's been shooting the ball well all year from three, but
01:22 we know how effective he can be at the rim and also in the mid range.
01:27 They talk about a guy being able to score at all three levels, and
01:31 that's what he can do.
01:33 >> And as for Trey, it seems like he relishes these kinds of moments,
01:36 the back and forth with him and Steph Curry, just coming down clutch in the end.
01:39 Can you talk about what you see from him and his competitiveness in those moments?
01:43 >> Yeah, he took another big charge.
01:47 I talk about that, I know, but I think those are significant plays.
01:50 And his ability to get to the rim and keep you on your heels,
01:57 and then he's been really confident from the three.
02:00 So between those two guys,
02:04 we become a difficult team to guard when they both have it going.
02:07 >> Coach, you have two starting quality pigs with Anjeka and Clint.
02:13 When they're both successful, like they were in the paint tonight,
02:16 what goes into the decision making, deciding who closes?
02:20 >> Yeah, that's always difficult,
02:24 the way the rotations are starting to Clint.
02:28 Usually, O's play a significant stretch of minutes,
02:33 coming in early in the first or the third, and then playing for a long stretch.
02:41 So as you know, we finished above them, and
02:46 there's games where I thought they were both terrific.
02:50 So it becomes really, really difficult.
02:53 I think O had so much life tonight, and
02:58 Golden State was small, and we were cross matching, and he was guarding the wing.
03:03 But more than that, it's hard to talk about one without talking about the other.
03:09 But I thought Anjeka's rebounding late in the game.
03:14 He was crashing the offensive glass, but
03:16 on the defensive glass, it seemed like he just gobbled them up.
03:19 And earlier in the game, I thought some of those long rebounds,
03:23 they were able to get.
03:24 If they get those, a lot of times it ends up in a three.
03:27 So him being able to secure those rebounds, and
03:30 it seemed like when he didn't get it, JJ got it.
03:33 So it was giving them only one shot is a huge part of playing them.
03:37 >> Coach, just to piggyback off of that, I believe it was 58 points in the paint last
03:41 night, 72 points in the paint tonight, going against two teams back to back who
03:47 like to shoot the three a lot.
03:49 Just your dominance in the paint, that's a two, but they're shooting threes.
03:54 But just to kind of maintain and
03:56 force that dominance in the paint, you have to be happy with the back to back games.
03:59 >> Yeah, and shooting the three actually helps you get in the paint,
04:04 because you're able to create spacing.
04:07 And we talked about Trey and DJ getting by.
04:11 JJ's able to do that as well.
04:13 And I thought he did a really good job tonight being under control when he got
04:17 in there, made some passes out, finished some,
04:20 made some passes to the rim, threw a couple lobs.
04:24 So it was something we talked about, we talked about at timeouts.
04:27 Just felt like if we could get in there, good things would happen, and
04:31 we were able to do that.
04:32 >> Coach, John McCunnegan has been on a crazy scoring stretch.
04:36 The past seven games, he's scored above 20 points.
04:39 Gives a lot of trouble when we match him and go to state.
04:41 That's the type of archetype we typically struggle against.
04:43 So what do you think worked particularly well tonight,
04:45 going under just 16 points?
04:47 >> I think guys that were on him, we had a few different matchups on,
04:54 but primarily JJ, Hunt, Garden, some two.
04:59 And I thought we did a better job of not giving ground and keeping our feet.
05:04 When we were there, he was driving the ball so effectively, and he's so strong.
05:11 He's able to create space.
05:12 I thought our guys did a better job of just leveling off and not giving ground.
05:16 And we also kept our feet a number of times when we shot faking.
05:21 In these steps around, we didn't stand up, and we didn't go for those fakes.
05:25 And that was a big part of it as well.
05:27 >> Night two of a back to back is often times when you couldn't see your team get
05:32 heavy legs, but for you guys to go into that overtime period,
05:35 go on that 11-0 run to start it, and then finish this one out strong.
05:39 What did you see from your team, just from that endurance perspective?
05:42 >> Well, they were running back to back too, so maybe we were both moving slow.
05:46 I don't know.
05:47 I thought both teams really competed.
05:49 And I think sometimes that's why you don't accept the fatigue component,
05:56 because I think there was a lot of adrenaline out there tonight as well.
05:59 You'll probably feel a little bit tomorrow.
06:00 >> Three games, three big wins against Western Conference foes.
06:08 What's the energy in the locker room as you're continuously making a push to get
06:12 to 500 and over 500 games?
06:14 >> Well, we're making a push to continue to play well.
06:18 I think that's, when you play well, you've got a better chance to win.
06:23 And we've had some guys individually that have had high level games for us as well.
06:28 I think our effort defensively, it's hard to say that when Steph Curry does what he
06:33 did, but those weren't easy baskets.
06:37 It's difficult to contain him when you're fighting through two, three screens.
06:42 And some of those shots were contested from behind,
06:47 some of them contested with our bigs.
06:51 And then you start standing up and he drives by.
06:54 But I thought collectively, our defense, there was a focus, and especially late.
07:00 You can kind of feel our guys come together defensively late.
07:06 >> Coach, I know it's one game at a time, but you win one, you win two,
07:09 you win three, suddenly you got a streak.
07:11 >> A streak is a streak.
07:13 >> Yeah, well, of course it's a streak.
07:14 >> Of course it's a streak.
07:14 >> Yeah.
07:16 >> Well, you tell me, what's a streak, how you feeling?
07:18 >> I don't believe in streaks.
07:21 I believe in playing well.
07:23 And if we can have a streak, I don't know where that number is,
07:28 but I like to win and our guys do too.
07:31 So if we keep doing some of the things we're doing,
07:33 Hopefully, we can win a few more.
07:36 - Thanks coach.
