00:00 Another spell of wet and windy weather is on the way.
00:03 Not as strong the winds as compared to Storm Isher,
00:07 but nevertheless, there is the potential for further disruption.
00:11 This was Storm Isher clearing away from northern Scotland
00:15 during the first part of Monday morning.
00:17 Plenty of isobars on the chart, but behind me lurking,
00:20 there is another weather system, a bigger system.
00:24 This has been named Storm Jocelyn by MetErin,
00:27 but it is also going to bring the UK some very strong winds
00:30 during the course of Tuesday evening and overnight.
00:33 Ahead of it, we've got a whole rash of showers
00:35 packing in through the rest of Monday
00:36 across northern Scotland, a bit of snow on the hills,
00:39 some hail and thunder as possible,
00:40 but most of these showers are of rain,
00:42 and they are zipping through because,
00:43 although the winds have eased because Storm Isher has cleared,
00:46 it is still a pretty blustery Monday out there.
00:49 Showers packing across Northern Ireland, Northern England,
00:52 parts of Wales, much of the Midlands and Eastern England,
00:54 and Northeast Scotland will stay dry, fine,
00:57 and sunny, and even where we've got the showers,
00:58 it won't be raining all day.
01:00 They will, as I say, be zipping through on that brisk wind,
01:02 which is bringing a cooler feel, as well,
01:04 temperatures in most places in the high single digits.
01:07 It'll be a chillier night as well.
01:10 Further showers to come this evening across northern
01:12 and western Scotland especially, but they should tend to ease,
01:15 and the winds will also ease a little further
01:18 through the night as well, which will allow just a hint of blue
01:21 on the chart there, some pockets of frost possible,
01:23 particularly in parts of Scotland.
01:24 For most, temperatures will hold up at, what,
01:27 three or four degrees in most towns and cities.
01:30 Further west, however, you'll notice a change on the way.
01:33 More rain coming in here.
01:34 The yellow colours, the heavier bursts of rain,
01:37 which will spread across Northern Ireland,
01:39 probably before dawn, into parts of Wales
01:41 and southwest England as well, and then that rain continues
01:44 to track its way eastwards.
01:45 So maybe a bright start in the east, but that won't last.
01:48 It'll soon cloud over.
01:49 Rain spreads across most areas by lunchtime.
01:51 The heaviest rain over the hills of Wales, northwest England
01:55 and western Scotland.
01:56 The rain could cause some issues as it builds up
01:59 after the wet spell recently.
02:01 And yes, the winds will also continue to strengthen.
02:04 There will be some drier slots, particularly
02:06 in the afternoon across the south,
02:08 but most areas staying pretty cloudy.
02:10 Now, it will actually be quite mild.
02:11 This storm system will bring mild air with it, 12, 13 degrees,
02:15 but obviously it'll feel colder than that
02:17 with the wind and the rain.
02:19 Now, the rain will spread to all areas.
02:21 The winds will continue to strengthen.
02:23 The strongest winds likely through Tuesday evening
02:25 and overnight across northern parts of the UK in particular,
02:29 but even across parts of Wales and further south into England.
02:32 The potential for some disruption,
02:34 amber warning for parts of western Scotland,
02:37 broader yellow warnings in place.
02:39 Those gusts of wind, as I say, likely to reach 50, 60 miles
02:42 an hour, maybe a bit more in western parts of Scotland.
02:44 And because we've just had Storm Isha,
02:47 there's a greater chance of disruption, a greater chance
02:51 that branches have been weakened,
02:53 even some structural damage more likely because we've just
02:56 had Storm Isha as well.
02:58 But the winds in themselves could also
03:00 cause some problems, so further disruption to transport
03:03 is expected.
03:03 This is Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning
03:06 as Storm Jocelyn heads to the north.
03:09 But the isobars really tightly packed
03:11 there across the northern half of the UK
03:13 in particular through Tuesday night and into Wednesday,
03:16 we start to see a bit of a bump in the isobars, a bit of a ridge
03:19 moving in.
03:20 So by Wednesday afternoon, Storm Jocelyn
03:23 will be disappearing.
03:24 And then the rest of the week, while low pressure and weather
03:27 fronts continue to track in across particularly
03:29 the northern half of the UK, whereas further south,
03:31 high pressure does try and build in,
03:32 which will at least calm the weather down
03:34 across the southern half of the UK
03:36 through the second half of the week.
03:38 Plenty going on.
