00:00 When people think of the very best Royal Rumble moments in history, they may think of the
00:04 returns of John Cena in Edge, or Paul London's flip-bump in '05, or the tear in Ric Flair's
00:09 eye, but many of the greatest moments to ever take place in the countdown-rundown showdown
00:13 have been the funnies.
00:15 Lots of WWE comedy spots fall flat on their beak, mostly because Vince McMahon has the
00:19 worst sense of humor known to man, but thankfully comedy writing is very, very, very easy with
00:24 zero stress involved whatsoever, or at least that's what Sullivan tells me.
00:28 Go watch Grubby Little Mitts.
00:29 For clarity, this is going to be a list of pre-planned comedy spots rather than spontaneous
00:33 moments of hilarity like Rusev becoming TV champion in 2016, Brock's dancing and overall
00:39 presence in 2020, Johnny Knoxville getting his brains bashed in by AJ Styles in 2022,
00:44 or Vince McMahon selling his knees to Saudi Arabia.
00:46 I'm Tempest, hailing from PartsFunknown, and these are the 15 greatest Royal Rumble
00:50 comedy spots ever.
00:51 And before we get on with our list, make sure of course that you're subscribed to PartsFunknown
00:54 so you don't miss any of the Royal Rumble content that has been filling up the recommendations
00:59 of all of our fine subscribers this month.
01:01 You can hit that subscribe button and enable notifications and you won't miss a single
01:04 one or else I'm going to throw you out of the ring.
01:06 Honorable mention, Titus.
01:07 Yeah, I know what I just said, but come on now, look at him trip.
01:10 Who's to say this wasn't an elaborate spot pulled off to perfection by Titus, one of
01:15 WWE's most finesse performers?
01:17 Look at him trip.
01:19 15.
01:20 The Warlord.
01:21 For 20 long years, the Warlord held the record for the shortest time spent in the Royal Rumble
01:26 match.
01:27 He takes a few steps, beats his chest, out he goes, his legacy defined forever, holding
01:31 one of the worst Rumble records.
01:33 The original Rumble comedy spot, and probably how most Ruthless Aggression era children
01:37 were introduced to the Warlord, because where would we be without the By The Numbers video?
01:42 14.
01:43 The Bushwhacker Walk.
01:44 You won't find many Bushwhacker fans here at PFK Labs, maybe just Dave Bradshaw, they
01:48 licked his head once, but the moment in the 1991 Royal Rumble match where Bushwhacker
01:52 Luke walks to the ring like he's trying to air dry his soaking wet arms, is walked across
01:56 the ring by Earthquake, is deposited on the outside, and returns to the back all in one
02:00 motion is a job well done.
02:02 It's pro-wrestling ridiculousness to a T. Also, Bushwhacker Luke has more 5 star matches
02:07 than Kurt Angle.
02:08 Don't know why I felt compelled to share that fact, I just felt chaotic today.
02:11 13.
02:12 Scaredy Too Hotty.
02:13 Scotty Too Hotty is a wrestler blessed with an extremely expressive face.
02:17 It's the eyes, Chico, they never lie.
02:19 Usually, Scotty's eyes would be screaming excitement about doing everyone's favorite
02:24 1920's funk dance, but in the 2001 Royal Rumble, those eyes told a very different story.
02:29 If you were to draw number 26 in the Rumble, you'd probably like those odds.
02:33 But when you're Scotty Too Hotty and the only people waiting to greet you are Kane
02:36 and The Undertaker, well then you get this slow, terrified entrance as Scotty slowly
02:41 accepts his fate while still dancing.
02:44 The look, the dance, superb.
02:46 12.
02:47 Help?
02:48 Hell no.
02:49 Kane and Daniel Bryan had tremendous comedic chemistry together during their run as a team,
02:52 and at the 2013 Royal Rumble, they had another of their best frenemies moments.
02:56 Bryan dumps Kane out of the ring because he was always the little bastard of the duo,
03:00 but immediately afterwards, Bryan himself was ejected from the ring, landing in the
03:04 waiting arms of his recently betrayed partner.
03:06 They stare longingly into each other's eyes as the crowd becomes a frenzy, Bryan demands
03:10 to be put back in the ring, and for a moment it looked like Kane would comply, only to
03:14 drop Bryan, resulting in this perfect reaction shot.
03:17 Daniel Bryan, still one of the funniest wrestlers of all time.
03:20 You hear him talk about bears?
03:22 F*cking crazy.
03:23 11.
03:24 Vicky Guerrero is excused
03:26 You know who people really hated in 2008?
03:28 Vicky Guerrero.
03:29 You know what people really hated hearing in 2008?
03:32 Vicky Guerrero screeching "Excuse me!"
03:34 In 2018, for the first ever Women's Royal Rumble, the one that was 50% surprises, all
03:39 of the women involved decided that they just weren't going to tolerate Vicky's fury,
03:43 and all ganged up to eliminate her in the safest way possible.
03:46 There aren't a lot of expertly planned spots in the first Women's Royal Rumble, but this
03:49 was certainly one of them, giving the crowd the biggest laugh of the match.
03:53 What a way to come in and get paid.
03:55 Walk out, scream, walk back, check please.
03:58 What a genius.
03:59 10.
04:00 Announcers pretending
04:01 And now here we have a moment so funny they had to do it twice.
04:04 WWE's commentary has not been its strong suit for a long time.
04:07 Other commentary highlights from Rumble's past have included Matt Stryker alerting us
04:10 all that Booker T's return was a "mark out" moment, "I'm marking out, bro,"
04:14 and "Well, they'll never be able to get the big show over the top, bro."
04:19 While we often spend time wishing we could forget what the commentators say, this is
04:22 an example of the commentators wishing we could forget what we saw.
04:25 In 1997, Jerry Lawler entered the Rumble from the commentary position, only to be promptly
04:29 eliminated by Bret Hart, landing on his face and returning to the desk pretending the whole
04:34 way that nothing had happened.
04:35 While 15 years later, JBL did precisely the same thing in 2012, with both men practicing
04:39 the philosophy of "If you pretend it didn't happen, maybe everyone will just forget."
04:44 9.
04:45 CM Punk saves the Royal Rumble
04:46 CM Punk's run as the Straight Edge Savior on SmackDown was superb, but the most fun
04:50 times we got were when Punk would interrupt a match's scheduled proceedings to provide
04:54 a sermon to try and save the filthy masses watching, and in this case, wrestling him.
04:58 Punk enters third and eliminates Evan Bourne and Dolph Ziggler, grabbing a microphone and
05:02 being his Charles Manson Punk self.
05:04 Then Zack Ryder made his entrance, only for Punk to tell him that he could be saved before
05:08 bopping him on the head.
05:09 The whole sermon was a ton of fun, but Zack Ryder getting bopped on the head like a field
05:13 mouse was peak slapstick comedy in a great Rumble.
05:16 8.
05:17 Otis saves Mandy
05:18 If anything is going to save you in a Royal Rumble match, it might as well be true love.
05:22 It is still wild to believe that the best storyline going into WrestleMania 36 was the
05:26 Otis-Mandy-Dolph love triangle.
05:28 Along the way, that Shakespearean romance took a number of turns, with one such moment
05:32 coming in the 2020 Royal Rumble.
05:34 The Women's Rumble, that is.
05:35 Mandy was booted off the apron and appeared for all the world that she'd been eliminated,
05:39 only for the camera to reveal that Otis had slid out from under the ring to use his wide
05:43 base to save Mandy from hitting the floor.
05:46 Otis is an entertaining fellow, and even though I'm sure he could manage it if put to the
05:49 real test, he couldn't save Mandy and Sonya from elimination shortly thereafter.
05:54 Maybe it wasn't meant to be at all.
05:55 We did just kinda never hear about them again after a while.
05:59 7.
06:00 Ambrose and Ellsworth
06:01 For just a bump, this is far from funny.
06:03 But as a payoff to a months-long story, yeah, this is pretty great.
06:06 Dean Ambrose had taken Smackdown's homeless turtle, James Ellsworth, under his wing in
06:10 2016, helping Ellsworth to get a few cheap wins over AJ Styles, only for Ellsworth to
06:14 turn on Dean because Ellsworth actually thought that he could actually beat AJ Clean.
06:19 He didn't, and by the time the Royal Rumble came, it was time for Dean to get some payback.
06:24 Ellsworth enters to face Braun Strowman, the man that squashed him in the first place,
06:27 making his chinless face go viral, and then Ambrose entered behind him as Ellsworth had
06:31 yet to enter the ring.
06:33 Dean said "let's go in on three" and proceeded to watch Ellsworth be fed to a grizzly bear.
06:36 A grizzly bear not content with just tearing him to shreds, but chokeslamming him over
06:41 the top rope to the floor.
06:42 That's a murder.
06:43 He's dead.
06:44 He's killed him.
06:45 Hehe.
06:46 6.
06:47 Billie Kay for hire After the ill-advised breakup of the IIconics,
06:50 Billie Kay tried to offer her services to anyone who would listen to her.
06:53 One such time, perhaps also ill-advised considering the stakes involved Billie, was during the
06:57 2021 Royal Rumble match.
07:00 Rather than entering the ring, Billie Kay, another very entertaining individual, elected
07:03 to instead hand out resumes to all the entrants as they passed her.
07:06 None of them took her up on it, but maybe Mickie James saved one and gave it to Impact
07:10 later that year.
07:11 I don't know if he'll mean, I didn't like that.
07:13 Don't fire people during a pandemic, y'all.
07:16 5.
07:17 There's a light breeze coming through Triple H's return for the 2002 Royal Rumble
07:20 match was pretty legendary.
07:22 His Madison Square Garden return on Raw remains the best denim on denim look in WWE history,
07:26 but when he walked to the ring to stand face to face with former frenemy Steve Austin,
07:30 it didn't feel like things could get any better.
07:32 Then we got one of the best comedy spots in Rumble history.
07:35 Rather than following Triple H with someone like a Kurt Angle, The Hurricane made his
07:39 Royal Rumble debut, sizing up the game and the rattlesnake, and trying to chokeslam both
07:43 of them at the same time.
07:45 He totally succeeded, totally won, and totally beat Chris Jericho at WrestleMania.
07:49 But also in this timeline, Trips and Steve no-sell being goozled, and immediately eliminate
07:54 the tropical storm like it was a light breeze.
07:56 4.
07:57 Where's the briefcase?!
07:59 Adam Blampied's favorite wrestler R-Truth has been hit and miss as a comedian in WWE.
08:03 I know Adam won't like to hear that his favorite wrestler R-Truth has had misses, but it is
08:06 true.
08:07 Adam's favorite wrestler R-Truth had one of his best moments in the Royal Rumble match
08:11 in 2016.
08:12 Having never recovered from being mentally shattered by losing to John Morrison in 2011,
08:17 Adam's favorite wrestler R-Truth pulled a ladder from under the ring, climbed it, looked
08:21 up and loudly asked, "Where's the briefcase?!"
08:24 I also get Money in the Bank and the Royal Rumble confused.
08:26 The matches are very similar.
08:28 3.
08:29 Poor Heath Slater No one likes a sore loser, especially when
08:32 it's Baron Corbin.
08:33 Corbin did not take well to being eliminated within minutes of the start of the 2018 Royal
08:37 Rumble and took that frustration out on poor Heath Slater, making his entrance just trying
08:41 to earn a way to WrestleMania to feed all 19,000 of his kids.
08:44 I wrote 19.
08:45 I don't know why I said 19,000.
08:46 But hey, maybe by now.
08:47 All the heels give Heath a boot or something on their way to the ring.
08:50 Big E helps Heath carb load for the match.
08:52 What a lovely man he is.
08:53 The spot lasted like a third of the match and then finally, Sheamus took the initiative
08:57 to get Heath into the match properly, only for the spot to be paid off perfectly, with
09:02 Heath eliminating the White Warrior in seconds.
09:05 On his birthday!
09:06 2.
09:07 Santino wasn't ready For 20 long years, the Warlord held the record
09:11 for the shortest time spent in a Royal Rumble match.
09:15 That was until 2009.
09:17 Santino Morella has a pretty interesting track record in Royal Rumble matches.
09:20 2008 he goes face to face with Taker and HBK before posing and eating a superkick.
09:24 2011 he almost won the thing.
09:26 2012 he had a sock puppet duel with Mick Foley that was long listed for this one.
09:30 He is awful in the 2020 Women's Rumble.
09:32 And then there is this.
09:33 This perfection.
09:34 From the precision required to actually be eliminated in just one second, to the impeccable
09:39 camera work capturing Santino's face immediately after, to the classic "I wasn't ready!"
09:43 This is one of the best Royal Rumble moments, full stop.
09:46 However, if you want pure comedy, who better to look to than a true comedian?
09:51 1.
09:52 Drew Carey The 2001 Royal Rumble is a perfect piece of
09:55 Attitude Era Wrestling.
09:56 This match from start to finish is a joy, and it has a number of great comedic moments
10:00 peppered throughout, including one we've already mentioned, but nothing compares to
10:03 the payoff of the night's show-long angle, Drew Carey competing in the Royal Rumble match.
10:08 Both of the hardies find themselves eliminated from the match as Drew Carey makes his entrance,
10:11 and you can isolate any bit of this.
10:13 Drew's reaction to seeing Kane, Drew hopping the top rope to escape, but watching Drew
10:18 Carey try to pay off the biggest and reddest of monsters in the middle of the ring in a
10:23 Royal Rumble match is a Royal Rumble funny that has yet to be topped.
10:26 And that's our list.
10:27 Make sure of course that you like this video, subscribe and enable notifications to always
10:30 on for all of the Royal Rumble content we've got coming your way, and make sure of course
10:34 that you watch the 10 best championship matches from the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
10:37 And until next time, I'm JamesBl0nde… see ya out there gamers!
10:44 (upbeat music)
