00:00 In the Indian motorcycle market, we've seen a bunch of brands, not just Indian brands
00:09 but brands from across the world, US, Japan, Germany, all over Europe, you name it, the
00:15 Indian market has it.
00:16 However, Swedish brands are unheard of.
00:19 Yes, we did hear it in 2020, but it wasn't a big hit due to COVID.
00:23 Now Husqvarna has launched their updated model of one of their previous versions.
00:29 Welcome to Drivespark, I'm Vedant Johari and this is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.
00:35 Let's take a look at what comes redesigned in this motorcycle and let's see what you
00:40 think of this beautiful, beautiful motorcycle.
00:43 Starting off with the front end of this beautiful motorcycle, as we can see, we have this massive
00:58 circular headlight and this comes in the traditional Husqvarna style with a split style lamp and
01:04 a badging in the centre showcasing the Husqvarna logo.
01:07 As you can see, we really can't see a DRL over here, but it's integrated at the top
01:11 with this really nice going all around, which really enhances the whole aesthetic and the
01:16 whole silhouette of this motorcycle.
01:18 On the sides, we have these sleek, beautiful indicators and we have a very nice front mudguard
01:25 as we've seen in some of the KTM models with a Husqvarna badging over there.
01:30 Now, coming to the front forks, it's a USD fork, Enduro spec, so the front fork is connected
01:34 to 17-inch tyres and the tyres that we have are Pirelli Scorpions.
01:38 These are dual sport tyres and the size is a 110/70R17.
01:43 Also, at the bottom of the fork, as we can see, we have a fork guard.
01:47 Now this is for when you go for your off-road excursions to avoid your fork from getting
01:51 any damages.
01:53 So, the front disc that we have is a 320mm disc and it's connected to Vibre calipers.
02:00 So moving on from the front end, just above the headlight, we have this small windscreen
02:05 that again, enhances the whole look of this motorcycle.
02:08 So now coming to the side design of the motorcycle, something that attracts your eye first is
02:21 this beautiful 401 badging that we have with this neon yellow strip that really brings
02:28 out the whole look of that 401 badging.
02:31 Now, the tank that we have has a very minimalistic design, nothing too fancy going on and a very
02:37 sleek design with a slightly flared out front.
02:41 Now the flared out front is again to provide better grip for your legs.
02:45 Now when I'm actually riding the motorcycle, when I'm in the GoPro view, I'll be telling
02:48 you how comfortable it is to actually place your legs on the tank.
02:52 So moving on from that, we have a crash guard over here and right in the front, we have
02:58 another Husqvarna badging and this also acts as a protector for your radiator.
03:02 So the main frame of this is shared with the KTM 390 Duke, the 2024 version, but the subframe
03:10 that we have is redesigned.
03:12 As you can see, we have the exposed chassis over here and we have the single offset monoshock
03:17 for the rear and this can be adjusted and not just the rear suspension, the front suspension
03:22 can also be adjusted.
03:24 For the front suspension, we have levers located right next to the handlebar to actually adjust
03:29 it.
03:30 Now this is for compression and rebound.
03:32 So moving on from the suspension, more towards the rear, as we can see, we have a swingarm
03:39 that is also shared with the KTM 390 Duke and this gives the Svartpilen 401 the same
03:46 wheelbase as the 390.
03:48 So moving on to our rear tyre, again, it's a Pirelli Scorpion dual sport tyre and the
03:53 tyre size that we have at the back is a 150/60/R17.
03:57 Now to stop the rear wheel, we have a 240mm disc, again connected to bi-brake calipers.
04:02 So now both the brakes that we have come with dual channel ABS, again, for your added safety
04:08 and to stop the bike in a much easier way.
04:11 Now coming to your proper rear view of this motorcycle, firstly, the grab rail that we
04:16 have is very, very uniquely designed.
04:20 It's something we don't see on a lot of motorcycles nowadays and the brake light that we have
04:24 is also really, really beautiful.
04:27 It has a sort of rectangular finish, but it's also angled, so it doesn't give you that plain
04:32 old simple rear brake light that we see.
04:35 So the rear brake light that we have, when you press it, has a very, very nice finish
04:40 on it, again, adding to the whole aesthetic purpose of this beautiful motorcycle.
04:45 Now the rear indicators that we have are shared with the front indicators, again, with a sleek
04:49 finish.
04:50 So on the left side of the motorcycle, we also have a sari guard and we have the swat
04:55 pill in bhajang.
04:56 We also have the swat pill in bhajang right over here.
04:58 So the seat that we have is a split style seat, but however, the rear seat that we have
05:02 is not raised, it's not above the main seat, it's all at the same level.
05:07 So when you look at it from afar, it honestly looks like a single piece seat.
05:11 And at the front, the seat almost completely joins in with the tank for your, again, off-road
05:18 excursions when you want to take it off-road and when you want to load some weight into
05:21 the front.
05:22 So coming to the tank, we have the Husqvarna bhajang on the tank cap and for the rear passenger,
05:27 when they want to grab onto something, they have something to hold on on the tank.
05:31 Instead of just placing the hands here and hoping for the best, they have something to
05:34 actually hold on to, giving them that extra grip.
05:37 Also, if you plan on taking some extra luggage on the motorcycle, you have some place to
05:41 keep it in the front to avoid damaging the body or causing any scratches on the paint.
05:46 So the fuel tank that we have has a 13.5-litre capacity and this has been increased from
05:50 the previous version by almost four whole litres.
05:53 Coming to the handlebar, the switch feel and the instrument cluster.
05:56 So when I talk about the rider's triangle, I'll talk about it when I'm actually sitting
06:00 on the motorcycle, but the handlebars have really good grip, it provides ample amount
06:05 of grip, it's not too uncomfortable, it's not too rough, even if you ride without gloves
06:09 and you also have this small cut on your levers for where you want to place your fingers while
06:15 pressing either of them.
06:16 Now the switch feel of this is absolutely premium.
06:20 You don't feel it rattling, you don't feel any lag, it's all in hands reach and it all
06:26 feels really good.
06:28 Coming to our instrument cluster, firstly when you open it up, when you switch on your
06:31 instrument cluster, it gives you the very, very basic, the very minimalistic Husqvarna
06:36 logo and then once it actually comes to life, you have all sorts of readings on it, your
06:41 speedometer, your revs, the gear you're on, ABS, traction control, your riding mode, then
06:50 your traction control setting, which traction control setting you're on, your engine temperature
06:54 and your fuel.
06:55 Also, it shows you your distance to MT.
06:58 Now we also have different views on the cluster that we'll show you in a small clip.
07:02 For me personally, the very minimalistic view is what I prefer.
07:06 Now the minimalistic view goes with the whole motorcycle if you ask me, as the Husqvarna
07:10 doesn't have too many fancy lines on it, it doesn't have anything standing out, but what
07:15 makes it stand out is the very, very simple, but elegant design of this.
07:21 Now coming to the rider's triangle and the seat comfort of the motorcycle.
07:25 So sitting on it, I am 6 foot 1 and as you can see, I can place my legs very comfortably,
07:32 I'm not struggling at all.
07:34 So even for a shorter rider, someone who's probably 5'4", 5'5" or 5'6", they will also
07:39 have a very, very, very easy time on the motorcycle.
07:43 Now the seat comfort is pretty good.
07:46 I wouldn't say it's the best, but I wouldn't say it's the worst either.
07:50 It does feel a little firm, but it's not something that can get uncomfortable.
07:54 Now I haven't ridden the motorcycle for a long period of time, but in the short time
07:58 that I've ridden it, I really haven't felt any pain or strain.
08:01 So coming to the rider's triangle, so as you can see, if my leg in the position I normally
08:06 ride in, I feel good.
08:09 So as you can see, I'm not in a very aggressive position, like how the KTM 390 Duke is, nor
08:15 am I very relaxed like how a cruiser or an adventure motorcycle is.
08:19 I'm in a slightly sporty sitting position, but also, I feel relaxed.
08:23 I don't feel like I'm straining myself.
08:25 Now even in your seating position, the side view mirrors that we have are perfectly placed.
08:30 It's not too out of place, it's not too small, nor is it too big.
08:35 You have ample amount of vision through your side view mirrors.
08:39 So now coming to the performance of this motorcycle.
08:43 So looking at the whole side profile of the Husqvarna, the ground clearance that we have
08:52 is 177mm and the seat height of this is pretty good at 820mm.
09:00 Now that's not too high for a complete adventure spec motorcycle, nor is it low like a proper
09:05 sports oriented motorcycle.
09:07 It has a little bit of both.
09:09 Giving again, enhancing the whole dual sport aspect of this, the whole, take it through
09:13 whichever terrain you want and you'll be comfortable.
09:16 So now coming to the engine, coming to what makes the Swarthpil Info-01 run.
09:22 So the powertrain that we have on the Swarthpil Info-01 is shared with the KTM 390 Duke.
09:28 It has a 390cc engine, liquid cooled and a DOHC setup, producing 45.4bhp and 39Nm of
09:36 torque, both at peak RPM.
09:39 This engine, while I'm riding it, I'll tell you how the power delivery is, I'll tell you
09:43 how it actually feels.
09:45 And along with the engine, it comes paired with a slipper clutch and a quick shifter.
09:51 Now that enhances the whole sportiness aspect of this and also the stability for when you're
09:58 heart breaking as the clutch will do the slipping for you and you will not have to do it manually.
10:03 Coming to the exhaust of this, as you can see, it's an underbelly exhaust, just like
10:08 the new 390 Duke and the first gen Duke.
10:11 Now this exhaust comes with a guard over here and this is to cover all the rusting that
10:16 happens over time.
10:18 Now, as you know, if you've owned a motorcycle over a long period of time, you do see the
10:24 exhaust getting a little rusted and it doesn't really look good to the eye.
10:29 So that's why Husqvarna has incorporated this guard over here and in the front to avoid
10:35 showing the rusting.
10:36 So now I've told you all about the specifications of the engine, but to see how it actually
10:40 performs, this is my opinion.
10:43 So let's go to the GoPro view.
10:44 So coming to how tractable this engine is, so let's start it on like second gear or fourth
10:57 gear for that matter and as you can see, it's just pulling with ease, no struggle.
11:03 Yeah, there was a little strain initially, but I mean, starting on fourth gear from zero,
11:08 that is wonderful.
11:09 So in terms of your suspension setup, your ride feel, everything, it's super comfortable.
11:15 Seat is tremendously comfortable.
11:17 Seating position also, you really don't have to think twice.
11:20 You don't have to worry about being too uncomfortable on the motorcycle.
11:25 So like see, it's beautiful, like the thing this bike is capable of doing is unbelievable
11:36 and you just take it on any dirt path you want without thinking twice and it'll just
11:42 take it with ease.
11:43 So I mean, overall, those are the riding impressions of this and yeah, so let's whack it open one
11:49 last time.
11:50 So I mean, as you can see, the Duke 390 is known for its power and even this just puts
11:58 the power down.
12:00 It just goes for it and I love that.
12:03 So that is really good about this motorcycle and it's a blast to ride.
12:08 However, I do feel the traction control does come in the way of us riding.
12:21 It does come in the way of what we want to do sometimes, like if you want to get the
12:25 back to step out, it does.
12:26 That was how this bike performs.
12:28 Overall, a lot, a lot of fun, thrilling to say the least.
12:33 The place we have on the tank to flare, where it flares out, perfect for your legs and even
12:39 if you come in front with the extended seat, it just gives you that extra play for whatever
12:45 you want to do.
12:46 Now suspension, beautifully calibrated, not uncomfortable, even over bumps, even over like
12:52 that off-road section we took it on, I did not feel uncomfortable at all.
12:56 Even the rear suspension just took it.
12:58 The dual purpose tyres worked amazing, the Pirelli Scorpions were wonderful.
13:02 Yes, not fully off-road so it did get a little slippery on certain points but otherwise it
13:08 just did whatever you wanted to do.
13:10 You want to take it on a slippery section and slide it but not get out of control, it
13:15 would do that.
13:16 You want to corner hard on a hard road, on a paved road, it would do that.
13:20 So all in all, I'd say it was crazy fun to ride this motorcycle, really gives you the
13:27 whole rawness, that, the whole grunt of the engine, you really feel that grunt of the
13:34 engine and when you whack open the throttle, that is something you have to experience yourself.
13:40 So now, stay tuned for the price, I'm going to tell you the price in the next clip and
13:46 I hope you enjoy the riding impressions and do make sure you check out this motorcycle
13:50 if you're looking for something that's fun, capable and durable.
13:55 So yeah, that's about it.
13:57 The suspension of this is on the stiffer side but it's nothing that gets too uncomfortable,
14:03 it's still really really comfortable I'd say and like even taking like over this bumpy
14:10 section right, there's nothing and even when you whack it open, it's really fun to ride.
14:19 There's no discomfort at all there, like see we just got into something really hard but
14:24 it's not like the bike didn't take it, it's not like I felt uncomfortable and even if
14:27 we go up this dirt patch right, so like, so as you can see, standing up and riding is
14:37 also fairly decent on this, there's not much discomfort and the bike just does what you
14:44 want it to do, so that's really good.
14:47 As you can see, you can explore the unexplored on this motorcycle with these dual purpose
14:53 tyres so that's really really good on this.
14:56 So see as you can see, like even pushing it on the dirt, it's not like the bike is
15:16 getting uncomfortable to ride, you can get the back to step out when you want it to.
15:22 So like on off road sections, it's really good, suspension setup is good, as I said
15:29 we have the front, a USD fork as the Enduro, the Enduro spec forks and it's beautiful,
15:36 it's taking what you throw at it, it doesn't crib if you take it and even on soft sand
15:41 like this, yeah it does get a little slippery but I mean, it's not full off road tyres,
15:48 they are at the end of it, dual purpose tyres so, you can't expect everything out of them,
15:56 but you certainly can expect a lot out of it.
16:00 So I mean see, you take it to such places like this and you're like, wow!
16:11 So now you've seen the riding impressions of the Svartpil and Fornauto 1-2 and priced
16:16 at Rs 2.92 lakhs ex-showroom, you get what you want on this motorcycle, right from heated
16:21 grips to increased ground clearance to an elongated seat to a beautifully performing
16:25 engine, you get everything.
