00:00:00 All right, everyone, welcome back into another live edition of the Patriots Beat podcast
00:00:05 here on the CLNS Media Network.
00:00:07 It is Brian Hines back with Alex Barth today.
00:00:10 His voice has returned, so he is back to talk some football.
00:00:14 A lot's happened since we've last talked to you, Barth, here.
00:00:18 Yes, I picked quite the week to not be able to do any shows.
00:00:22 To lose your voice, I know, because this coaching search is still going on here, and we have
00:00:28 a long, extensive list of offensive coordinator candidates.
00:00:32 Looks like we're pretty close to confirming a defensive coordinator candidate, and we
00:00:38 have some action on special teams.
00:00:40 So let's start with the coaching staff, and then a lot of this show is going to be previewing
00:00:44 the Senior Bowl that kicks off tomorrow and goes throughout this week.
00:00:48 We'll finally get some draft talk and talk about some of these prospects, but we will
00:00:52 begin with the coaching staff.
00:00:54 Because this offensive coordinator search is exhaustive, and it's long, and it's 11
00:01:00 coordinators and candidates deep now.
00:01:02 Obviously some of those guys have signed.
00:01:04 Zach Robinson went to Atlanta over the weekend, Dan Pitcher, Shane Waldron.
00:01:08 But they're going through all these names.
00:01:11 It's a lot of guys from this Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, and it's a lot of
00:01:16 guys who are tight ends coaches, which you see a lot, because they have their say in
00:01:21 the passing game and the running game.
00:01:23 Like Nick Kaley, who's coming in.
00:01:25 He's in town right now, actually, I think, for an in-person second interview.
00:01:28 So a lot of names and a lot of similarities between these candidates at their brain and
00:01:33 then.
00:01:34 Yeah, they clearly have a type, right?
00:01:36 They're looking for a younger guy.
00:01:38 They're okay if they haven't called plays before, and they want somebody with an experience
00:01:41 in that West Coast offense.
00:01:44 Maybe it does end up being Nick Kaley after all this, but they're certainly doing their
00:01:47 due diligence.
00:01:48 I just want to remind everybody too, that often these interviews double as both coordinator
00:01:53 interviews and excuse me, positional coach interviews.
00:01:57 So you look at a guy, you mentioned all the tight ends coaches they've interviewed, or
00:02:02 is this maybe a guy that's going to come in on Nick Kaley staff on whoever's staff in,
00:02:07 in a positional role?
00:02:08 I just want to pull up the list here because you can't keep it off the top of the head.
00:02:11 It's so way too many names, expansive, right?
00:02:14 It's a, we're up to, are we still at 11?
00:02:17 Yes.
00:02:18 I forgot to check after I just got home.
00:02:19 Um, all right, so we're still at 11 here.
00:02:22 The majority of them.
00:02:23 Yeah.
00:02:24 Are you know, ties to the Niners ties to the, the Rams or guys with, you know, second degree
00:02:31 ties like Gerard Johnson is working in Houston, but he worked under Bobby Slowick who was
00:02:36 with the Niners, right?
00:02:37 Somebody like that.
00:02:38 There's a couple outliers.
00:02:40 Scott Turner's an interesting one.
00:02:42 The son of North Turner who is, was with the Raiders and he's kind of bounced around.
00:02:47 Uh, Tanner, uh, angst runs another one.
00:02:50 He's with Detroit, which runs a very different offense.
00:02:53 That is much more of a, uh, it's not quite the Patriots offense that the old Josh McDaniels
00:02:59 offense, but there's much more elements of that in it than there, than there is elements
00:03:04 of that West coast Shanahan thing.
00:03:06 So they're looking around, they're looking around, but I think we know what they want.
00:03:11 I'm not worried by the overwhelming number of interviews.
00:03:15 You know, two weeks ago, people were upset.
00:03:16 Well, even if you knew you were going to hire Gerard Mayo, why didn't you talk to anybody
00:03:19 else?
00:03:20 Why not just see, why not just ask, see what's out there.
00:03:22 So, you know, nothing's good enough apparently at this point, but, um, they'll get the higher.
00:03:27 Somebody's going to take the job.
00:03:28 I think Nick Haley is if worst case scenario right now, it feels like they ended up with
00:03:32 Nick Haley and that's not a bad worst case scenario, especially when you consider what
00:03:36 the scene has looked like at the offensive coordinator position in the last couple of
00:03:41 years.
00:03:42 So I, me personally, uh, I, I mentioned angst trend.
00:03:45 I really like him.
00:03:46 I think he's an interesting candidate.
00:03:47 I think Clint Kubiak, the 49ers pass game coordinator is an interesting candidate.
00:03:51 I've talked, talked quite a bit.
00:03:53 I really liked Gerard Johnson, but now it looks like maybe Bobby Slowick's not going
00:03:57 to end up a head coach in which case, uh, we'll, we'll see what happens there, but maybe
00:04:03 Johnson stays on his staff, waits it out so he can see Johnson as the OC and in Houston
00:04:10 and get to work with CJ Stroud.
00:04:12 But yeah, there's, there's a lot of options.
00:04:15 I, they seem to be trending in the right direction one day and they haven't interviewed.
00:04:19 And I guess this might just be a formality at this point is Josh McDaniels too.
00:04:23 So it doesn't seem like they're going totally to fall, fall back on that.
00:04:26 The one thing I'd say on that topic, and I know I'm going in a million directions right
00:04:29 now, again, I haven't done a show in a week is I like Nick Kaley cause he has the experience
00:04:35 in LA and it's not a ton, but it's something.
00:04:39 And he may be able to, you're not going to get the full McVay experience.
00:04:43 You don't get that without McVay.
00:04:44 You can hire whoever you want.
00:04:45 You could hire Zach Robinson.
00:04:46 You're not going to get that without McVay.
00:04:48 He may be able to marry some of those McVay concepts into the Patriots traditional offense.
00:04:54 But if they're going to bring Nick Kaley back just to have him run Josh McDaniels offense,
00:05:02 we'll then just bring back Josh McDaniels at that point, bring back the guy whose offense
00:05:08 it is.
00:05:09 Don't do it secondhand.
00:05:10 We talked about this a lot with the positional coaches at the end of the season, Brian, that
00:05:14 it felt like they were putting coaches in boxes instead of saying, we hired you because
00:05:18 we feel like we trust your system and your instincts and your football knowledge.
00:05:23 They were having, they were kind of saying to coaches, we brought you in here to run
00:05:27 this.
00:05:28 We brought you in here because we think we don't want you to run your system.
00:05:31 We think you can run this system.
00:05:34 If the Josh McDaniels offense is what it is, then get Josh McDaniels.
00:05:36 It's his system.
00:05:37 If you want to try to go West coast, then yeah, Nick Kaley makes a ton of sense.
00:05:41 Don't bring in Nick Kaley to run Josh McDaniels offense.
00:05:43 I know a lot of people don't want Josh McDaniels.
00:05:46 I don't think he's as bad as a lot of people would seem.
00:05:48 I wouldn't hate them taking a step towards that West coast offense.
00:05:52 But if, if the Josh McDaniels offense is the, is the choice, then it should be Josh McDaniels.
00:05:57 That should not be somebody mimicking him.
00:05:59 Yup.
00:06:00 I agree with you there.
00:06:01 I just, I don't really see the path to Josh here just because it would go against, like
00:06:05 you have 11 interviews and one kind of offense, and then you're just going to like pivot to
00:06:11 Josh and run this other offense.
00:06:13 It's just kind of weird.
00:06:14 And Jason brings up-
00:06:15 Well, maybe nobody sold them.
00:06:16 Maybe they've been in interviews and they're like, we saw it and heard what we want to
00:06:19 hear.
00:06:20 And then, you know, Jason brings up point like coaching still matters.
00:06:23 Do you think just bringing in a veteran coach could help an inexperienced staff?
00:06:26 That's where maybe Josh would come in as this advisor, especially if it's someone like Nick
00:06:31 Kaley or Scott Turner, because he worked with Josh in Vegas last year, kind of running that
00:06:38 similar offense.
00:06:39 But I mean, if you're going like full McVay, like, I don't know if you want to have Josh
00:06:43 in there as like a senior advisor, because it's kind of a different offense, but maybe
00:06:47 just working with the quarterbacks would be helpful for him there.
00:06:51 I still think having some sort of experienced head coach on the staff, you know, I was kind
00:06:55 of hoping it would be as the offensive coordinator, maybe got like Frank Reich.
00:06:58 I still think having some sort of advisor, football advisor, like real football advisor
00:07:02 would make a ton of sense.
00:07:03 I look at Mike Vrabel.
00:07:04 He should be back in the conversation and Seattle makes a ton of sense for him and he
00:07:10 makes a ton of sense for Seattle and maybe that's where he ends up.
00:07:12 He's not going to Washington.
00:07:14 I think that they're going to announce Ben Johnson any minute now.
00:07:19 If Vrabel doesn't go to Seattle, I think they need to figure out some way, shape or form
00:07:22 to get him in the building and allow him to be a resource for Gerard Mayo.
00:07:27 Yep.
00:07:28 Yeah.
00:07:29 We talked a lot about that, like a football operations guy who can just come in and kind
00:07:34 of oversee everything.
00:07:35 That would be a really good fit for Mayo there.
00:07:38 Just, I mean, going through some of the names, because there were so many, we didn't even
00:07:42 hit on all of them.
00:07:43 There are Thomas Brown, who was another guy who was kind of born and raised in Sean McVay,
00:07:49 coached running backs, tight ends.
00:07:50 He was the Panthers offensive coordinator last year.
00:07:55 Brian Flurry, who's worked with Shanahan the last four or five years.
00:07:59 He's been the tight ends coach there.
00:08:00 Luke Getzey, he was probably the one that came in that I was like, I'm not a huge fan
00:08:06 of Luke Getzey.
00:08:07 Yeah.
00:08:08 He didn't go great with Chicago and Justin Fields the last two years and he was let go
00:08:12 and then yeah, Clint Kubiak and Scott Turner were the two this morning that came in.
00:08:19 So it's a lot of names.
00:08:21 We're 11 names deep here and maybe you think it's going to come to a close this week, maybe
00:08:27 later in this week as they start to get into these second in-person interviews, but just
00:08:33 a lot of names going on here.
00:08:34 Yeah.
00:08:35 I think by the end of the week we'll probably know.
00:08:39 At that point, I see some people talking about what's taking so long, what's taking so
00:08:42 long they're behind.
00:08:44 They're fine.
00:08:45 They're fine right now.
00:08:46 You know, anybody who thinks that these candidates aren't paying attention to the guys in the
00:08:51 draft and aren't paying it like they're, they know they're going to end up with the job,
00:08:55 right?
00:08:56 There's frankly, they're not staying prepared at this point.
00:08:57 It's not the guy I hire.
00:08:59 After this week is when I'd be like, okay, you know, this is going on a little bit unless,
00:09:04 unless they're waiting for one of those Niners guys, I guess, and maybe it's just not announced,
00:09:08 but if they don't have it by the end of the week and it's not a nine, it doesn't ultimately
00:09:15 end up being a Niners hire or whatever.
00:09:17 Now, I'll also wait two weeks to get somebody from that 49ers offense.
00:09:21 I have no problem with that.
00:09:22 So you had a guy like Clint Kubiak, but I don't think that it's, they're not like that
00:09:28 delayed yet.
00:09:29 It's, it's really not a problem.
00:09:31 Yep.
00:09:32 Gritty there.
00:09:33 One thing that does look like it's, it's not confirmed officially yet, but it's pretty
00:09:39 much right there.
00:09:40 99% is the defensive coordinator spot, which is going to DeMarcus Covington.
00:09:46 Obviously it was, I think a top of all of our lists at the end of the year when we knew
00:09:50 it was going to be Mayo.
00:09:52 He's a young coach.
00:09:54 He's a fast riser.
00:09:55 He's taken DC interviews last year.
00:09:56 He's worked at the shrine bowl defensive coordinator, got a lot of praise for his, you know, work
00:10:01 down there on and off the field, even like in the classroom, leading these guys and just
00:10:05 keeping that continuity and that defense that again, it was good last year and having a
00:10:10 guy that's familiar with Gerard Mayo is big to keep around.
00:10:14 So we all kind of thought that was a no brainer to, if he was willing to stay and it looks
00:10:18 like he is and that defensive coordinator spot is for him.
00:10:21 Yeah.
00:10:22 Good hire.
00:10:23 Now we see who else they interviewed ends up on the staff.
00:10:25 Michael Hodges to me makes a ton of sense as the linebackers coach.
00:10:28 And then what happens with Steve?
00:10:29 You know, they reportedly extended an offer for Steve Belichick to come back.
00:10:33 It doesn't sound like Bill Belichick is going to be coaching anywhere.
00:10:35 Does Steve come back as some sort of advisor or something to watch?
00:10:39 Yep.
00:10:40 And like Christian Parker is they interviewed him.
00:10:43 He's another guy to watch in that secondary, maybe a secondary coach.
00:10:47 I hope they're able to keep Mike Pellegrino around cause he's done a great job with those
00:10:55 corners and, but you know, we'll see with him.
00:10:58 And then Steve and Brian are the kind of big one.
00:11:01 But would you assume that Covington, even if Steve comes back Covington will be the
00:11:07 play caller for that defense?
00:11:09 Oh yeah.
00:11:10 Yeah.
00:11:11 Yep.
00:11:12 So that one looks like it's going to be confirmed here.
00:11:15 That one, that one made a lot of sense to just keep him around and promote from within.
00:11:18 And then as you said, Hodges and Parker could be good fits just as positional coaches on
00:11:24 that staff.
00:11:25 And we had some special teams movement too, and the coaching staff, cause they lost Joe
00:11:30 Houston who was, you know, one of the assistants the last few years, he went to Florida.
00:11:36 I don't think they gave him an official title, but you know, he bounces out of here.
00:11:39 They lose another coach.
00:11:40 Well, they didn't have Florida didn't have a special teams coach last year at all.
00:11:43 I'm wondering how that worked, but I would guess he's going to be a special teams coordinator,
00:11:49 some sort of equivalent.
00:11:50 So losing another coach there.
00:11:52 And I think Andrew Callahan had it that, uh, can a cord coach last year in a contract year.
00:11:58 So his contract is reportedly up to, so, you know, we expected some movement on special
00:12:05 teams too, cause they were interviewing these guys for coordinator jobs.
00:12:08 Jeremy Springer flew in this past weekend, probably with Nick Kaley to interview cause
00:12:13 Marquise Williams declined the job.
00:12:15 He's staying with Atlanta.
00:12:17 So I mean, you'd expected some movement on that side of the football, especially cause
00:12:21 the performance last few years haven't been great, but, uh, it looks like one coach is
00:12:25 out and you know, a court, if he doesn't have a contract, it's kind of tough to see that
00:12:30 one being, you know, re-opt or resign there.
00:12:33 Yeah.
00:12:34 Yeah.
00:12:35 It's good.
00:12:36 I think it's going to be a whole new group.
00:12:38 I agree with you there, but, uh, I think we hit all the, all the names.
00:12:43 There's a lot to keep track of, but any other, you know, coaching news or anything else that
00:12:48 caught your attention from that search?
00:12:51 I'll just pull this up.
00:12:52 This, this comment, and there was a comment before it about, uh, the scheme, you know,
00:12:57 not having an offensive scheme without a coach and it says the, the Patriots have a famously
00:13:01 small scouting staff.
00:13:02 Now they're even shorter, which isn't true.
00:13:05 And the shrine bowl is this week and the senior bowls this week.
00:13:08 How's it not a problem?
00:13:09 Uh, so I, look, it's a fair question.
00:13:12 I would say one again, like we just talked about, look at who you're, they're talking
00:13:17 to.
00:13:18 They're talking to all McVay Shanahan guys.
00:13:21 I think they have an idea of the general scheme and maybe there's little nuances here or there,
00:13:25 but you're not doing that kind of scouting at this point.
00:13:28 The other thing is when you're at the senior bowl of the shrine bowl, you're not scouting
00:13:34 individual.
00:13:36 You are scouting individual players, but you're looking at the whole group.
00:13:41 Like you're there to figure out who has a good work ethic, who has a good motor, which
00:13:45 like you're scouting, you scout every player.
00:13:48 You talk to every player.
00:13:50 If you're doing it right, you scout every play.
00:13:52 You talk to every player.
00:13:54 The scheme part doesn't come in here.
00:13:56 The scheme part comes in after the, after, uh, the senior bowl, the shrine bowl, after
00:14:02 the combine, when you start narrowing down your board, when you start cutting down to
00:14:07 your board, to the guys you have draftable grades on, uh, the scout should be operating
00:14:11 as is right.
00:14:13 When you evaluate a guy, how do you, I know this sounds stupid.
00:14:18 How do you know if a guy fits your scheme or not without evaluating, you're evaluating
00:14:23 everybody.
00:14:24 It's like, I don't know if your math teachers ever did this growing up, Brian, but I remember
00:14:26 I had a math teacher who like every once in a while on a test would be like, okay, like
00:14:32 we would do like those, the, the, uh, whatever it was like the time test, it was like 20
00:14:36 math problems.
00:14:37 You had to get like a minute or something.
00:14:38 Oh, like the boxes.
00:14:39 Yeah.
00:14:40 And it would be like, all right, you only have to answer the ones that ended in even
00:14:45 where the answer is an even number, which in my stupid little elementary school mind,
00:14:48 I'm like, great.
00:14:49 I only have to answer all the questions.
00:14:51 How do you find out if they had an even number or not?
00:14:53 You got to solve it.
00:14:54 So at this point, you're scouting everybody.
00:14:58 They should be scouting everybody.
00:14:59 They should be evaluating everybody and whether or not there are fit is part of the evaluation.
00:15:05 But the reality is when you watch a guy, you know, okay, this guy's a better fit for Shanahan
00:15:10 than he is for this, or he's a better fit for this than he is for this.
00:15:14 And then when the coach comes in and he talks to the scouts, he says, all right, well, who
00:15:17 did you like for this kind of role?
00:15:19 And the scouts, hopefully having watched everybody say, these are the guys.
00:15:23 So I would not, it's again, it's a fair question.
00:15:27 I would not worry about them not having an offensive coordinator right now.
00:15:32 Again, if we get to the combine and they don't have an offense coordinator issue, we'll have
00:15:38 pulled the fire alarm.
00:15:39 Well beyond that, by the super bowls, like the absolute latest cutoff, I'll start being
00:15:44 a little worried at the beginning of the week next week.
00:15:46 If they don't have somebody, I'll be deep down hoping it's because they're hiring somebody
00:15:49 from the Niners.
00:15:50 If the super bowl lands and they don't make a hire, that is when we truly panic and say
00:15:53 they don't know what they're doing.
00:15:55 And I'll add this to personnel dictate scheme.
00:15:59 So especially where they're at on the offensive side of the ball, you just need talent.
00:16:05 Get your talent, get your cornerstone players and you build the offense around that.
00:16:09 So they need to be there looking for who is good for lack of a better term, who's good.
00:16:17 And probably not for the third pick.
00:16:19 None of those guys are there.
00:16:20 May Daniels Harrison all, but four 34 or 35 or no, it's 34 or 68.
00:16:28 If they want to move around the board for guys, end of the first round, maybe trade
00:16:30 back up.
00:16:31 They're just looking for who's in that range and who do they like?
00:16:34 Who's a good player there.
00:16:37 The offensive coordinator is not going to be drafting the players for them.
00:16:40 Yep.
00:16:41 Great.
00:16:42 And there are a lot of good players down there at the senior bowl in that, that range.
00:16:46 So that's good transition to start to talk about some of those guys.
00:16:50 But before we do that, let's take a very quick break and we will hear from our friends over
00:16:55 at FanDuel.

00:17:37 All right.
00:17:39 So Alex, I guess your Twitter feed today was full of hand length and arm length and all
00:17:44 these measurements.
00:17:45 It was, it was a year baby.
00:17:47 We're so bad because, because the senior bowl, you know, they started releasing all these
00:17:51 measurements.
00:17:52 They have the guys down there.
00:17:54 Practices start tomorrow.
00:17:55 I believe it's Tuesday through Thursday practices.
00:17:57 And then the game is Saturday, which you can watch on NFL Network.
00:18:03 But you mentioned it like not these top guys who are going to see at, you know, three overall,
00:18:09 none of the top three quarterbacks are there.
00:18:11 Marvin Harrison, Joe Alt, those guys aren't there, but there's a lot of good offensive
00:18:16 tackles.
00:18:17 There's a lot of good wide receivers that will be right in that second to third range
00:18:20 for the Patriots.
00:18:21 But there are a couple of quarterbacks who could be in that range at 34 if they go elsewhere
00:18:26 in the first round and it's Michael Penix and Bo Nix.
00:18:30 Those are the two big guys.
00:18:32 Maybe one of them, you know, a good week here could push them into the first round.
00:18:36 I know Dane Brugler from the athletic was saying like Bo Nix could generate some top
00:18:40 10 hype with a good week down there at mobile, which I agree.
00:18:45 I don't really see that, but those are like the two big fishes at the quarterback spot.
00:18:50 So what do you, we've talked about them a lot throughout the year.
00:18:54 So what do you kind of want to see from them, you know, throughout this week at the senior
00:18:57 bowl?
00:18:58 Yeah, I think with Penix, the hand size, that was a good start because he's a little on
00:19:03 the shorter side.
00:19:04 So, you know, you wonder hand size arm length.
00:19:06 You checked all those boxes, good shape there.
00:19:09 You just want to see a good, solid performance.
00:19:10 He can't answer the questions about pressure, which are going to be one of the biggest play
00:19:13 style questions for him after that national championship game.
00:19:17 But just seeing how he looks during the ball, I think is, is, you know, he can kind of help
00:19:22 remind people just how talented he is with his arm after that bad performance against
00:19:26 Michigan.
00:19:27 And it's also a big week for him.
00:19:28 Cause he's going to talk to teams and they're gonna ask him about his knees and they're
00:19:30 gonna ask him about his shoulders.
00:19:32 And I don't think you can do medical workups, but you can, you know, ask questions about
00:19:36 it.
00:19:37 Certainly.
00:19:38 So I think checking with teams in that sense, uh, it's a big week for him for Bo Nix.
00:19:44 It's it's tough.
00:19:45 Cause he has 61 college starts under his belt.
00:19:47 That's a record.
00:19:48 Like I, you should more or less know who Bo Nix is at this point.
00:19:52 He's also played into very different offensive systems.
00:19:54 So you've seen him in some different ways.
00:19:56 I'd like to see him throw the ball down the field consistently, especially to the middle
00:20:00 of the field.
00:20:01 He didn't do a ton of that at Oregon.
00:20:03 But I feel like for him, he'll interview.
00:20:05 Well, you know, he's, he's a smart kid.
00:20:07 I think he really understands his story.
00:20:12 And I think he's made the most of the career that he's had, which is not gone the way it
00:20:16 was expected to.
00:20:18 There's a great piece.
00:20:19 I'll go on YouTube after the show and look up, uh, Marty Smith from ESPN did a great
00:20:22 piece on Bo Nix and going from Oregon where his dad played and was a hero to, to kind
00:20:27 of bottoming out there, going to Oregon.
00:20:30 Um, I say going to work, going to Auburn where his dad played.
00:20:34 Um, his dad was here.
00:20:36 They're bottomed out at Auburn, went to Oregon, obviously had success.
00:20:39 Um, he's going to interview.
00:20:40 Well, he's going to play up his story that, you know, he's resilient and all that.
00:20:43 So I don't want to say it's a layup week for Bo Nix.
00:20:47 You know, he's still got to go out there and perform.
00:20:48 He can't put up a stinker, but I think we all more or less know who Bo Nix is at this
00:20:52 point.
00:20:53 And it's just going to be teams kind of checking in with him and seeing if the guy he's put
00:20:57 out there outwardly is, is who he really is.
00:20:59 Yep.
00:21:00 That is the one thing though, like pushing the ball, like vertically down the field and
00:21:04 those practices, if he gets a chance to kind of do that, because I mean, we've talked about
00:21:09 like the average depth of target at Oregon was like six yards.
00:21:13 It was like 93rd out of like 95 eligible quarterbacks or something.
00:21:18 And saying like that, like that's his, that was his kind of game that those short passes.
00:21:21 But I would also say like, if that's what you, you're not, you're not drafting Bo Nix
00:21:27 being drafted and turn them into a deep ball thrower.
00:21:30 Like, you know what you want, you know, what you're getting in Bo Nix, you know what you
00:21:33 want a team, honestly, the 49ers grabbing him at the end of the first round, if they're
00:21:38 worried about purty or they don't want to pay him, makes all the sense in the world.
00:21:42 You would be excellent in that offense.
00:21:44 Um, but yeah, you know, if he starts chucking the ball down the field and, and, you know,
00:21:49 show some really good, consistent accuracy down the field, then okay.
00:21:53 You know, maybe he, he bumps up a little bit.
00:21:55 I don't think he's getting into the top 10.
00:21:57 Does he maybe sneak into the top half of the first round top 16?
00:21:59 Yeah, that's probably about his ceiling.
00:22:02 There's going to be a group of teams.
00:22:03 I think it's like seven to 12 where all, but one of those teams are like obvious quarterback
00:22:07 teams.
00:22:08 Uh, maybe he sneaks up in there.
00:22:10 Uh, but yeah, I, I, I don't relatively speaking again, he, he can't just, Oh lay and pass
00:22:17 on this week and show up and do nothing.
00:22:19 But, uh, uh, relatively speaking, this is not a massive week for Bo Nix.
00:22:24 Like he's pretty solidified, I think in his draft stock.
00:22:28 Yup.
00:22:29 Yup.
00:22:30 I don't mind Bo Nix.
00:22:31 He's got some nice things working for him, but it's still, I think they should shoot
00:22:35 higher and just the Auburn stuff still terrifies me.
00:22:39 Like I feel like you might just get back to the league and revert back to Auburn Bo Nix,
00:22:43 which, which is just a scary kind of thought.
00:22:46 He's fine, but I'm okay.
00:22:48 Yeah, I'm okay.
00:22:49 Letting some other team figure out Bo Nix.
00:22:51 If Bo Nix ends up great and the Patriots pass on Bo Nix and he ends up being good.
00:22:55 I can live with that.
00:22:57 I can live with that.
00:22:58 They're just not a spot for him right now.
00:22:59 It doesn't make sense.
00:23:00 Yup.
00:23:01 But, uh, some other quarterbacks down there, yes.
00:23:04 Some middle round guys, we'll get to your guy in a second, but, uh, some of the two
00:23:09 like middle round guys, maybe day two, Michael Pratt from Tulane and Spencer Rattler from
00:23:14 South Carolina.
00:23:16 You intrigued by any of those guys?
00:23:18 No, you know, Rattler was like a projected top NFL pick back in his early Oklahoma days.
00:23:25 Obviously hasn't gone great for him, but you know, he's got a lot of arm talent and then,
00:23:29 you know, Michael Pratt is more of that kind of a traditional passer, like accurate over
00:23:34 the middle of the field.
00:23:36 It's got a little athleticism, but nothing that's really going to blow you away.
00:23:39 So are any of those guys kind of intriguing you if maybe for a day to pick there?
00:23:43 I mean, Michael Pratt to me is Bailey's Abbey.
00:23:47 He's a, you know, low end starter, high end backup, accurate, quick passer can move around
00:23:55 a little bit, but he's not overly athletic.
00:23:58 He's not going to be able to drive the ball down the field.
00:24:00 He doesn't have that upper echelon arm strength.
00:24:02 Um, very similar play, you know, small school to multi-year starter.
00:24:06 Like I think they're very similar players.
00:24:08 If they're going to move on for Mac and Zappy and they want to do the RG three Kirk cousins
00:24:12 thing, bringing in Michael Pratt to back up a guy like Drake may make sense.
00:24:17 I don't know that I'm drafting Michael Pratt as the next guy, but good, interesting backup.
00:24:23 Uh, Spencer Rattler is a fascinating project to me.
00:24:28 He is, he was one of these guys coming out of high school that was like next.
00:24:33 He was the number one quarterback in his class.
00:24:35 Number two recruit overall five star 99 rating on 24 seven.
00:24:39 Uh, he was the elite 11 MVP his year.
00:24:42 He's in that QB documentary on Netflix.
00:24:45 But so he was supposed to be Caleb Williams.
00:24:48 Like he went to Oklahoma.
00:24:50 He was the, you know, he, he was okay his first year, but then going into 22, he was
00:24:57 supposed to take, or going into 21, sorry, he was supposed to take over the starting
00:25:01 job.
00:25:02 He was the preseason Heisman favorite loses the job halfway through the year to Caleb
00:25:06 Williams.
00:25:07 So he's similar kind of player, all of it.
00:25:09 So washes out at Oklahoma transfer to South Carolina had a rough year in 22 bounced back
00:25:16 this year.
00:25:18 He's never lived up to the hype that, you know, he had, I mean, he was supposed to be
00:25:23 a guy that was going to be a first overall pick and it was going to be a general rational
00:25:27 prospect franchise quarterback.
00:25:28 He obviously never got there.
00:25:30 The talent is there.
00:25:31 He is still very reckless and there are legitimate character concerns with him.
00:25:36 And it's an interesting thing where we know more about him as a person because he's been
00:25:41 featured in some of these documentaries.
00:25:42 You go back, you watch that Netflix doc documentary.
00:25:45 He does not come across well.
00:25:46 He does not come across as a good leader or good teammate.
00:25:48 Now I don't want to punch down at the kid for what he did when he was 18.
00:25:52 That was four years ago.
00:25:53 And I certainly think he's learned, but that's going to be something he gets asked a lot
00:25:57 about.
00:25:58 So ton of natural talent.
00:26:01 And I think, you know, I wouldn't be surprised if a team looks at him and says, yeah, we
00:26:06 can tap into what, uh, uh, why am I blanking on his name?
00:26:11 Uh, the coach, Oklahoma, USC.
00:26:14 Oh, um, now I'm blanking on his name.
00:26:18 Wow.
00:26:19 This is embarrassing.
00:26:20 I know.
00:26:21 All I can think of is Bob.
00:26:24 I know.
00:26:25 All I can think of is Cliff Kingsbury, uh, Lincoln Riley.
00:26:28 Jesus.
00:26:29 There you go.
00:26:30 That was a bad one.
00:26:31 Yeah.
00:26:32 Sorry for that.
00:26:33 And I can see a team looking and saying, we can tap into what Lincoln Riley couldn't.
00:26:36 We can kind of, you know, keep this upwards trajectory that he was on at South Carolina.
00:26:40 We can keep that going.
00:26:43 If you're the Patriots, it's a tough sell.
00:26:47 It's a tough sell.
00:26:48 Or, you know, how is he going to handle being a backup?
00:26:51 You put him behind Mack Jones.
00:26:52 Um, that's more a team that has a year to kind of see where he's at.
00:26:58 But you know, if they took him in like the fifth round and said, we're just going to
00:27:02 kind of see what's there.
00:27:04 It would make sense to me again.
00:27:06 I think you need, we've talked about people have talked about, all right, you get a guy
00:27:10 on day two and then a bridge guy, right?
00:27:13 You get JJ McCarthy and a bridge guy.
00:27:15 It's not really a bridge guy with Rattler because the idea is say you go JJ McCarthy
00:27:21 and like, uh, Jacoby, uh, Berset, right.
00:27:26 McCarthy's still your franchise quarterback.
00:27:28 He's still taking over.
00:27:29 The plan is to hand him the keys and you're drafting him with the idea that he will be
00:27:32 ready at some point.
00:27:34 That's not to deal with Rattler.
00:27:36 He's more of a lottery ticket.
00:27:38 He's more of a project.
00:27:39 He's just kind of, he doesn't necessarily solve JJ McCarthy.
00:27:43 You draft him with the idea that your quarterback problems are solved longterm.
00:27:46 They're just not solved as shorter term as they would be with a guy like Drake, Mayor
00:27:49 Jaden Daniels, or even Michael Penix or Bonix.
00:27:53 You don't guarantee you solve anything with Spencer Rattler.
00:27:57 So you need another plan there.
00:28:00 They could still bring them in and see what he's doing, but I wouldn't say that if it's
00:28:05 him, Mack Jones, Bailey's happy.
00:28:07 They still don't have a longterm answer at quarterback.
00:28:09 You don't want to bank on them.
00:28:10 Right.
00:28:11 So maybe Rattler becomes something, but you don't go into the season feeling great.
00:28:16 It's like, all right, this guy's here.
00:28:17 It's interesting.
00:28:18 I guess we'll watch them, but you don't feel great about the longterm direction at the
00:28:23 position.
00:28:24 Yeah.
00:28:25 You're drafting him then because the traits are like the arm talent is off the charts
00:28:28 and he can move around a little bit.
00:28:30 You're drafting them and hoping those traits develop into a starting quarterback at some
00:28:35 point down the line.
00:28:36 But it's not like a Drake May or Caleb Williams were like, this is our guy or even JJ McCarthy.
00:28:40 But yeah, really good arm talent.
00:28:43 It's just the decision making some of the aggressiveness with that arm talent.
00:28:46 I think he had like 20 interceptions over the last two years.
00:28:49 So and so watching like the decision making on the field this week and then how he interviews
00:28:54 will be big with some of those maybe character concerns as well.
00:28:59 But maybe the most fun quarterback down there at Mobile.
00:29:01 Yeah.
00:29:02 I think there's three.
00:29:03 I think there's three early to mid day three guys.
00:29:05 I think you're short selling my guy, but go ahead.
00:29:08 Okay.
00:29:09 I think he could be a early day three pick, but bazooka Joe, Joe Milton down there in
00:29:15 Tennessee just has a rocket of an arm.
00:29:18 We need like a, you know how the NHL does like the hardest shot.
00:29:22 Yeah.
00:29:23 Slap shot.
00:29:24 We need like a just hardest pass at the combine just to see how fast Joe Milton can throw
00:29:28 a football.
00:29:29 But he's got a rocket, but you know, accuracy issues, some tempo when he doesn't need to
00:29:35 throw it a hundred miles an hour, but maybe still does throw it a hundred miles an hour.
00:29:40 But he's got a monster arm on him.
00:29:43 And it's not just that he can throw it hard.
00:29:46 There's video of him throwing the ball yards from his knees.
00:29:48 Like it's and it's funny.
00:29:50 You read the scouting reports about him and I tend to agree.
00:29:54 There's nothing he's doing mechanically.
00:29:56 His mechanics aren't good.
00:29:58 They're not good.
00:29:59 They're not like he shouldn't be throwing the ball this far.
00:30:02 It doesn't make sense.
00:30:03 It can't be explained.
00:30:05 I'm sure he'll be asked about it, but he just kind of does it.
00:30:08 You watch.
00:30:09 It seems the way he decides how far he throws the ball isn't by changing literally how hard
00:30:14 he throws it.
00:30:15 He changes his mechanics.
00:30:16 So it's not, all right, I need to go 80%.
00:30:19 I need to go 60% with the arm.
00:30:20 It's all right.
00:30:21 I'm going to fade away a little bit on this one to take a little bit off, but it works.
00:30:25 It's weird.
00:30:26 Like that shouldn't work, but it works.
00:30:28 He and then honestly, he's kind of same way as a runner.
00:30:32 He's not great on designed runs.
00:30:34 Like he's not great on read options.
00:30:36 He doesn't really get going when you do the design quarterback runs, but when he talks
00:30:40 and scrambles, he's a tank, nobody can tackle him.
00:30:45 There's a play against Virginia from this year where he's simultaneously stiff farming,
00:30:50 one defender, like successfully stiff arms, one defender will trucking another.
00:30:54 He's six, five, two 35.
00:30:56 He's pure chaos.
00:30:57 He's pure recklessness.
00:30:58 He's the most entertaining player in this draft.
00:31:00 Entertaining does not mean good.
00:31:01 It's different thing.
00:31:03 I am fascinated by Joe Milton.
00:31:05 I am beyond fascinated by Joe.
00:31:07 I have no idea what the NFL is going to make of him, but I do really think some teams are
00:31:11 going to love him because they're going to see six, five, two 35 can create with his
00:31:16 legs can throw the ball 80 yards, not an exaggeration can throw the ball 80 yards like in pads.
00:31:22 And they're going to say, yeah, we'll put it together.
00:31:25 He's there's Jermarcus Russell and Josh Allen, and he's going to be one or the other.
00:31:31 I don't know that there's any in between with him, right?
00:31:34 He's it's it's probably more likely one than the other, but he is, he's fascinating.
00:31:40 And to talk about the, the Kirk cousins thing, if you draft a guy like Jane Daniels or Drake
00:31:47 man skill set wise, not talent wise, but skill set wise, he is somewhere in between Drake
00:31:52 may and Jane Daniels is a little bit of both.
00:31:55 So you could pair him with either guy.
00:31:58 And I think he could run to the best he can run it, run either offense.
00:32:03 And you could essentially have him as a package player where he's going to throw hail Marys
00:32:07 and you're, you're throwing hail Marys from the minus 40.
00:32:10 If you have Joe Milton, like that end of half.
00:32:13 Yeah.
00:32:14 He can throw hail Marys.
00:32:16 We'll never have to ask why didn't you throw a hail Mary at the end of the half again,
00:32:19 or we'll be asking it a lot more.
00:32:21 You have Joe Milton.
00:32:22 Why didn't you throw a hail Mary?
00:32:23 He can be your hail Mary quarterback.
00:32:25 He'd be a pretty good push push quarterback just with his size and his lower body strength.
00:32:30 He can run a little bit.
00:32:31 You'll put him in some packages where I, again, I said, he's not great at read option stuff.
00:32:35 Maybe you coach him on that.
00:32:38 And then you also have him as a developmental quarterback, like taste him Hill.
00:32:40 If he wasn't playing tight end, basically like you could use him in that way.
00:32:46 I don't know that it's ultimately the team that drafts him.
00:32:48 Well, I would, but he's just, he's a really fascinating and look, he might go out this
00:32:53 weekend suck.
00:32:55 There's a very real chance that that happens, but it's not necessarily about that because
00:33:01 you'd put on the tape.
00:33:03 There's some unbelievable throws.
00:33:04 There's some throws you watch where you laugh your ass off how great they are.
00:33:07 And then there's some throws you watch where you're like, you laugh your ass off.
00:33:09 You have no idea what the hell he was trying to do.
00:33:12 There's a play.
00:33:13 I got to find the video of it where like, he's trying to hit a guy on a crosser in the
00:33:15 back of the end zone in the red zone.
00:33:17 And he drills the third row, but there's another throw where he puts the ball flick of his
00:33:22 wrist 75 yards on a dime to a streaking receiver.
00:33:26 So I don't know what's going to happen with him.
00:33:28 I really don't.
00:33:29 He's very hard to project, but he's going to be, it's going to be, it's going to be
00:33:32 fun with him in the process.
00:33:33 And again, he might suck this week.
00:33:35 He might be great this week.
00:33:36 It doesn't change how I feel about him.
00:33:37 He's interesting.
00:33:38 I would not give him the keys to the franchise again.
00:33:40 Like I said, with rattler, like you draft him.
00:33:42 I don't think your quarterback questions are answered, but I'd love to bring him in the
00:33:46 building and just see what's going on there.
00:33:48 Just open up the hood and see what's going on under the hood.
00:33:50 Cause he Brian, you're gonna hear me say this a lot.
00:33:53 This is something I fall back on every draft process.
00:33:57 There are certain players people really like who are very good players, but I don't want
00:34:04 to say people overrate in the sense of how good they are.
00:34:06 I'm trying to remember who one of these guys was last year.
00:34:09 Um, okay.
00:34:11 Like, like Michael Mayer last year was one of these guys.
00:34:14 And this isn't a perfect example.
00:34:15 Cause Brock Bowers is so good.
00:34:17 All right, let me go to, let me, okay.
00:34:19 Zay flowers is actually a great example of this.
00:34:21 Cause he just had, you know, a big game.
00:34:23 People love Zay flowers last year and rightfully so.
00:34:26 He's a really good player, but that skillset, that kind of player, like you can get Zay
00:34:33 flowers most years, right?
00:34:36 Like Xavier worthy is a very similar player this year.
00:34:40 And that doesn't mean Zay flowers isn't good.
00:34:41 It's just, there's only so many skill sets you can have on a football field and summer
00:34:45 band overlap.
00:34:46 So there's a lot of guys, even if they're good, if you need that skillset, you'll have
00:34:50 another chance to get that skillset.
00:34:52 There's a handful of guys.
00:34:53 So Tariq Wollin was a guy like this for me.
00:34:55 DeJuan Jones was a guy like this to me last year, right?
00:34:58 The 680 pound tack from Ohio state.
00:35:01 You're not going to be able to draft DeJuan Jones every year.
00:35:04 You want that guy.
00:35:05 You want the 680 pound tackle with basketball feet.
00:35:08 You want the six, three, 210 pound corner with the plus a wingspan who runs a four,
00:35:14 three, 40, and it's a converted receiver.
00:35:16 You got to draft that guy.
00:35:17 Cause you're not getting that guy again.
00:35:19 Like you don't have another chance to draft the player with that makeup.
00:35:22 Joe Milton's that guy.
00:35:24 Like you want the guy that can throw the ball 80 yards with a flick of his wrist, regardless
00:35:29 of his other flaws.
00:35:31 You got to draft him right now.
00:35:33 Cause you're not getting Joe Milton again.
00:35:34 I've seen some people compare him to Anthony Richardson, sort of the arm strength's different.
00:35:39 The arm strength's different than anybody.
00:35:41 Then, then, then Caleb Williams, then Josh Allen, then Patrick Mahomes, just a pure ability
00:35:45 to throw a football distance.
00:35:48 We haven't seen it.
00:35:49 We haven't seen it in a long time.
00:35:51 So that's just, I'll end my Joe Milton rant there, but he's different.
00:35:56 He's different.
00:35:57 It doesn't mean he's good, but he's different.
00:35:58 He threw an orange, like 120 yards.
00:36:02 That's a great video.
00:36:03 He just launches a, like a full orange, the whole football field.
00:36:07 He's very entertaining.
00:36:08 Like, again, like, am I going to give Joe Milton the keys to franchise?
00:36:11 No.
00:36:12 I mean, I watched Joe Milton in the preseason three games a year for four years.
00:36:15 Absolutely.
00:36:16 Are you kidding me?
00:36:17 That would be great.
00:36:18 So that's the Joe Milton spiel.
00:36:21 It'll be interesting to see how the NFL world kind of looks at him throughout this, this
00:36:26 whole time.
00:36:27 I have no, I think, I think there's gonna be a couple of teams that like him.
00:36:30 I think there's gonna be a couple of teams that have him off their board altogether.
00:36:32 He's gonna be a very polarizing prospect.
00:36:34 Yep.
00:36:35 But, uh, yeah, Mitch said, uh, he's going to go watch some Milton highlights.
00:36:40 They're very entertaining.
00:36:41 They are very entertaining.
00:36:42 That's the perfect word to use for Joe Milton.
00:36:46 But I guess, uh, the last quarterback who's on the complete opposite end of the spectrum
00:36:50 is Sam Hartman.
00:36:51 Uh, I, earlier in the year, I think I said, uh, expect the Patriots to take Sam Hartman,
00:36:57 but that was when a world where Bill Belichick was, was still here.
00:37:00 But, uh, he's more of like your Mac Jones.
00:37:03 Just, I think he's been a, he's a six year senior.
00:37:05 He's a lot of experience at the collegiate level.
00:37:08 He's just, you know, he's not going to wow you with any of his physical traits, but he's
00:37:12 pretty accurate and that's what you're going to get.
00:37:15 Just the opposite player of Joe Milton.
00:37:17 And I don't know someone who doesn't really need to be on the Pat's radar here, but he's
00:37:21 probably the, uh, uh, six best quarterback down there that this week.
00:37:26 Yeah.
00:37:27 I'm sorry.
00:37:28 You said Sam Hartman, you kind of cut out there at the beginning.
00:37:30 Yeah.
00:37:31 Yeah.
00:37:32 I'm, I'm good on Sam Hartman's college quarterback and he was a good college quarterback and
00:37:36 you know, great.
00:37:38 He's a college quarterback.
00:37:39 I just throw him in that like Ian book, Sam Ellinger tier where like he made a chance
00:37:45 to start just cause like he's a smart guy and he's experienced and teams will keep him
00:37:49 around.
00:37:50 He'll hang around our practice squads and scout teams for, for, you know, five, six
00:37:53 years at least.
00:37:54 But you're not talking about him as like a serious guy that's going to start and win
00:37:59 games.
00:38:00 So those are the top quarterbacks.
00:38:03 Uh, we can transition to receivers cause there are a ton of guys who again are in that kind
00:38:09 of second to third range picks for the Patriots.
00:38:12 There, there's no, there are no Marvin Harrison.
00:38:14 There's no, uh, the Texas guys aren't there.
00:38:18 Malik neighbors, not those guys, but there are a lot of talented options.
00:38:22 Uh, Xavier Leggett, is that how you say his last name or Leggett?
00:38:26 Leggett.
00:38:27 He's been a guy who seems to has a lot of steam kind of picking up the last few days,
00:38:33 even though we just measured in at, at six one, which was, you know, two inches less
00:38:38 than he was listed at South Carolina.
00:38:40 Uh, we got like Roman Wilson, Ladd McConkie, kind of similar bill, just really tough covers,
00:38:45 even though a little bit undersized has Walker UNC, Ricky Pearsall.
00:38:49 I really like him from Florida mouth, like Corley, Western Kentucky.
00:38:53 And the list goes on and on and on a ton of really good, really talented wide receivers
00:38:58 down there at the senior bowl this year.
00:39:01 Yeah, it's, it's really an unbelievable group.
00:39:05 And again, a reminder that Marvin Harrison jr.
00:39:08 Is not the only receiver in this draft.
00:39:10 And you're talking about, I said this on, uh, I did manage to do catch 22 with my broken
00:39:15 voice last week.
00:39:16 There's multiple, there's multiple free future pro bowlers in this group.
00:39:20 I truly believe that.
00:39:21 A lot of what this event is, is, is sorting out the board, right?
00:39:24 I Xavier would get Tez Walker, Johnny Wilson, Ricky Pearsall.
00:39:30 I don't, I don't feel great about, and I just read those guys off top of my head.
00:39:34 I don't have like a strong feeling about the order.
00:39:37 You know, who would I prefer to who this is a great week to see these guys side by side
00:39:41 in the same setting against the same competition and kind of sort that group out.
00:39:45 But there's, it's a great group of receivers.
00:39:48 I also think it's a very diverse group in the sense that you want a X true X outside
00:39:55 receiver, Lee get Walker Wilson.
00:39:57 You want kind of a move receiver, you know, combo guy, Ladman, Conkey, Ricky Pearsall,
00:40:02 Brennan rice.
00:40:03 You want a slot receiver, Jacob Cowling, Malachi Corley.
00:40:07 There's all these different guys with all these different skill sets.
00:40:11 It's such a good group.
00:40:12 I really hope that somebody who wants to see the Patriots go quarterback at three.
00:40:16 I really hope somebody in this group becomes a Patriot.
00:40:18 I think somebody in this group should become a Patriot and look, you still gotta find the
00:40:22 right guy.
00:40:23 They won't all hit, but it's a great week to kind of narrow down this group and see
00:40:26 who are your guys within that day to day three wide receiver.
00:40:30 Is there one like before we kick off these practices here, is there like one or two that
00:40:34 you may have a little higher than everyone else there that you based off your work so
00:40:38 far in this process that you really like out of that group?
00:40:42 I don't know about hiring everybody.
00:40:44 Like I think we'll get in and does Tez Walker legit.
00:40:49 Like those guys are, you know, day two, top 50 receivers, um, real winners at the exposition.
00:40:57 They, they interest me.
00:40:59 I'm super interested in Johnny Wilson.
00:41:00 Honestly, Johnny Wilson's kind of the wide receiver.
00:41:03 I might play tight end this week.
00:41:04 I think I read that somewhere.
00:41:06 So he's well, so here's what's interesting.
00:41:09 He's six, seven, two 35, which I believe supposedly in high school, he ran a four,
00:41:15 three, not a four, three fat, but flat like in the four threes.
00:41:18 Right.
00:41:19 So it's like, this is another guy where again, if he gets, I'll even bump it up to four,
00:41:22 four.
00:41:23 If he gets the combine, he's running a four, four in that range.
00:41:26 You're not going to get guys like that guy.
00:41:28 He doesn't come along every year in terms of his skillset.
00:41:32 He does a lot of things.
00:41:33 Well, the one thing he's not good at is he can't catch the ball.
00:41:37 And let me revise that.
00:41:40 He's really good at contested catches when he's open.
00:41:44 It just clangs off his hands.
00:41:45 I don't know what the hell that is.
00:41:47 I'd love to be down there this week to ask him about it.
00:41:50 And that is something that can be coach.
00:41:51 He just has really bad focus drops.
00:41:53 If you can get him to figure that out in the rest is at as advertised that size, that speed,
00:41:58 I mean, you're going to start getting into like the, the AJ Brown DK Metcalf kind of
00:42:02 comps with him.
00:42:03 So let's see if he can catch the ball this week.
00:42:05 I think would be my, my, my big thing with him.
00:42:08 I like Ricky Pearsall.
00:42:09 I think he slept on just cause Florida wasn't very good this year.
00:42:12 I love the motor and the energy he plays with.
00:42:14 He's a, he plays wide receiver.
00:42:16 Like you'd think a linebacker is safety.
00:42:18 Like I like Ed Reed, right?
00:42:20 Or Brian Dawkins would play the receiver position.
00:42:24 Great hand.
00:42:25 Yeah.
00:42:26 Great catch radius.
00:42:27 Spectacular catch guy.
00:42:28 A pretty good route runner, decent size.
00:42:30 Uh, he's, he's very interesting to me.
00:42:32 And then I'll even go further down.
00:42:34 I see a lot of people in chat talking about Malachi Corley.
00:42:36 I do like Malachi Corley.
00:42:38 I don't know that slot receiver on day two, especially high on day two, where you're probably
00:42:42 going to have to take Corley.
00:42:44 I don't love that.
00:42:46 If they want to like hedge their bets with another DeMario Douglas type, uh, Ania Smith
00:42:50 from Texas A&M is a player.
00:42:52 I really like Jacob Cowling from Arizona.
00:42:56 That guy just gets open and catches footballs.
00:42:58 I think he had 112 catches last year or something like that.
00:43:01 Like he's tiny and that's going to be, I actually meant to look up today what he, uh, what he
00:43:07 weighed in at.
00:43:08 Cause I don't think it's going to be big and just hang with me here so I can find it.
00:43:13 Um, but he, he gets open, he separates and he's just consistently, uh, catches the football.
00:43:22 So I want to find the measurements cause I'm going to give the measurables and everybody's
00:43:26 going to say, nevermind, I'm out.
00:43:28 Uh, we're talking about him.
00:43:31 Like he's going to go on this tank Dell, uh, run during the, like the senior bowl this
00:43:36 week and kind of boost.
00:43:38 He's a different kind of player.
00:43:40 Like he's more tank Dells fast.
00:43:43 Right.
00:43:44 I would say that, uh, a guy like Cowling is more quick than fast.
00:43:47 Like it's more shorty area quickness.
00:43:49 It's more pure route running, uh, things like that.
00:43:53 Why, why won't this?
00:43:54 I got him.
00:43:55 I got his card.
00:43:56 I got five, eight, one 65.
00:43:58 Yeah.
00:43:59 Okay.
00:44:00 So that's small, small, and, and you know, Devin Tompkins in Tampa comes to mind, but
00:44:05 Devin Tompkins, I think ran a four, three.
00:44:08 So I don't think Cowling is going to come in that fast, but he could be, if you find
00:44:12 the right role for him on day three, he could be a guy.
00:44:14 So yeah, Devin Tompkins talks.
00:44:17 Wow.
00:44:18 Devin Tompkins is five, eight, one 54.
00:44:21 Oh my gosh.
00:44:22 But he ran a four, four.
00:44:23 So like, yeah, I remember that when he came out in the draft, I think that was two years
00:44:26 ago.
00:44:27 Uh, yeah, two years ago out of Utah state.
00:44:28 I remember saying like, I, and I, I was a big Devin Tompkins guy.
00:44:31 Cause he was so good down the field and his ability to track the ball down the field.
00:44:35 I was excellent.
00:44:36 It is excellent.
00:44:37 He's made some plays for Tampa, but I remember saying that any coach that sends Devin Tompkins
00:44:42 over the middle of the field should be tried for attempted murder, um, or at least attempted
00:44:48 manslaughter.
00:44:49 It's going to kind of be the same thing with Jacob Cowling, except he's not a deep ball
00:44:52 receiver.
00:44:53 He's a true slot Edelman Welker kind of guy, but that means taking a beating and taking
00:45:00 a beating at that size.
00:45:01 You're asking a lot.
00:45:03 So it's going to be really interesting to see how teams view him.
00:45:06 Yep.
00:45:07 He will.
00:45:08 The weigh in was a big part of this week for him.
00:45:10 And you said it was five, eight, one 65.
00:45:12 Yeah.
00:45:13 We'll see if he bulks up at the, it would not be surprising.
00:45:16 And tank Dell did this last year.
00:45:18 If he's a little more bulked up at the combine, cause teams are going to see that one 65 and
00:45:22 they're going to have real questions about his durability.
00:45:24 Like Tompkins, I think what, yeah, Tompkins went on drafted and that's the kind of guy
00:45:28 you're talking about.
00:45:29 Your tank Dell was just for the sake of being complete.
00:45:32 Uh, cause tank Dell also had some questions about his size.
00:45:35 It's five, 10, one 65.
00:45:38 So he was at least a little bit taller and he had, he had more of that straight line
00:45:41 speed, but that's a big part of the reason tank Dell fell.
00:45:44 You know, he went all the way.
00:45:45 Was it?
00:45:46 I think the third round, right?
00:45:47 Yeah.
00:45:48 He was early in the third round.
00:45:49 He was at the line.
00:45:50 Uh, but I think.
00:45:51 Teams were worried about his size and, and it's going to be a, a similar issue for Cowen,
00:45:57 but tremendously talented football player.
00:45:59 Really good.
00:46:00 Uh, any thoughts on a Christian's brother, Luke from rice?
00:46:05 Uh, I honestly, I've watched him a ton.
00:46:07 It's tough watching rice football.
00:46:08 I was going to kind of let this week be my intro to him.
00:46:13 Um, he's a McCaffrey's brothers, L players, daddles, L the player.
00:46:17 Let's see.
00:46:18 Um, um, you know, I think anybody with that last name, you're going to look at a little
00:46:23 bit more close, right?
00:46:24 So we'll see what he does this week.
00:46:26 Not one of the guys I'm super familiar with.
00:46:29 I thought he was going to go back to school.
00:46:30 I remember seeing something late or like midway through the season that he was, he wasn't
00:46:34 a draft prospect.
00:46:35 So I kind of look to the other side.
00:46:37 I wasn't looking at him as much, but now I'm in, uh, this is kind of the time of year that
00:46:41 I catch up on those guys.
00:46:42 Yep.
00:46:43 I read a few reports on him and it was the consensus was kind of like, he's not going
00:46:47 to blow you away with any of these athletic traits, but he's just a damn good football
00:46:50 player, right?
00:46:51 Like he's, he's a McCaffrey.
00:46:53 He's a good football player and another family connection.
00:46:55 Uh, rice, Jerry Rice's son, USC, Caleb Williams is top target.
00:47:01 He'll be down there.
00:47:02 So a lot of really good wide receivers and it'll be fun to watch them.
00:47:06 You know, they get the one on ones during practice and we'll get a good sense on all
00:47:11 those guys.
00:47:12 Also a really talented offensive tackle class.
00:47:14 And a lot of those guys that might be again, right in that kind of range, right around
00:47:18 that 34th overall pick.
00:47:21 Um, and I can't pronounce any of their names except Patrick Paul and Jordan Morgan, but
00:47:26 a lot of tough names.
00:47:30 Um, Fuagi from Oregon state, uh, Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma is like a really athletic guy.
00:47:38 Kingsley from BYU is another one of those kind of, I think he made the freaks list and
00:47:44 the preseason.
00:47:45 So a lot of just like really physical athletic kind of freaks at that tackle spot.
00:47:51 I did see, um, Troy Fatanu from Washington just got removed from the senior bowl, so
00:47:57 we won't see him this week.
00:48:00 Yeah.
00:48:01 Dane, Dane Bruegler, 10 minutes ago, put out a list of six guys who aren't going to be
00:48:06 there anymore.
00:48:07 Fatanu is there.
00:48:09 It's Jalen Wright, the Tennessee running back, Troy Fata.
00:48:11 I like him too.
00:48:12 Yeah, me too.
00:48:13 And then Cooper BB, uh, offensive lineman from Kansas.
00:48:16 He doesn't need to be there.
00:48:17 He's a good player.
00:48:18 Cedric van Pran center from Georgia, Michael Barrett, linebacker from Michigan and Mike
00:48:24 San Ristel, the Michigan defense.
00:48:26 Is that how you say his last name?
00:48:27 I think he pulled out, uh, Saner still, I think he pulled out.
00:48:30 Um, I don't think that's new.
00:48:33 Okay.
00:48:34 Cause when I was, I was doing my prep, I, he, he wasn't on the roster, uh, for me, so.
00:48:40 Okay.
00:48:41 So he won't be there.
00:48:42 Yeah.
00:48:43 Fatanu was one of these offensive tackle prospects.
00:48:46 Would have been nice to see him measure in because a lot of people think he's going to
00:48:48 be a guard at the next level.
00:48:50 But, um, a lot of these, you know, again, really athletic, really talented guys, right?
00:48:55 In that, that early second round, maybe late first round, he might have to trade up for
00:49:00 some of them, but in that range for an offensive tackle for the Patriots.
00:49:03 Yeah.
00:49:04 So there's, there's seven guys expected to go between 20 and 50.
00:49:08 Uh, I guess now five of them, it was six, five, five of the seven.
00:49:12 We'll be at the senior bowl and, and the senior bowl defensive line group is amazing.
00:49:17 So these guys are really going to be tested in this is where, if you're the Patriots trading
00:49:20 back into the end of the first round or at 34, this is the prime spot to take a tackle.
00:49:25 So I like Patrick Paul from Houston's a guy I really like, uh, Jordan Morgan from Arizona.
00:49:29 I really like, uh, Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma is an interesting prospect.
00:49:34 Again, like I talked about the receivers, there's not a ton of consensus and it's, it's
00:49:38 hard to say at this point, you know, sorting that group out.
00:49:41 So we're going to do this week is sort that group out.
00:49:45 Yep.
00:49:46 Um, but it is like, I would say that you're better off taking a tackle at that 34 spot
00:49:53 because it's a little more, there's a lot of these guys, but it's a little more top
00:49:56 heavy and then with all those receivers, they might fall down the board a little bit more
00:50:00 to that.
00:50:01 So that receiver group, right.
00:50:04 Is that we talked about four is kind of 40 to 80, which is the second round and most
00:50:09 of the third, the tackle group.
00:50:11 The second tier tackle group is all projected between 20 and 50 and it's less players.
00:50:19 So if you're waiting, you can afford to wait on a receiver more than anything else, just
00:50:25 based on the depth of the class.
00:50:27 Yep.
00:50:28 But I mean, it's a, it's a good draft to, if you have to go quarterback tackle wide
00:50:32 receiver is a, uh, a good draft to have to do that.
00:50:36 Cause you can get some talent at all three spots at all three picks there.
00:50:40 Yeah.
00:50:41 But, um, I mean, those are, those are the big three spots.
00:50:44 Obviously we've all been paying attention to and drawed Mayo even told us those are
00:50:48 their three biggest positions of needs, but, uh, like just going through the rest of the
00:50:53 rosters, uh, any other, you know, prospects kind of catching your eye or that you're a
00:50:58 little excited to watch throughout the week here.
00:51:01 Well, I know, I mean, I've gotten a ton, a ton, a ton of questions on, uh, Dylan lob
00:51:07 from UNH fun player.
00:51:10 Yeah.
00:51:11 He's the running back.
00:51:12 I, you put on the tape and he looks like Christian McCaffrey, but he's doing that at the FCS
00:51:18 level.
00:51:19 He's doing that at UNH and the CAA.
00:51:22 Can he do it in the NFL and can he do it against NFL talent?
00:51:25 And this week is, you know, he's going to be going against guys from the sec.
00:51:28 He's going to be going against guys from the big 10.
00:51:30 Can he make an sec league safety missing coverage?
00:51:33 Can he block a big 10, a big 12 pass rusher?
00:51:37 He is generally, so I said a lot of this guy's draft stock is more or less settled.
00:51:42 It's kind of sorting within the tiers.
00:51:44 You don't have too much of guys jumping tiers at the senior bowl, a small school guy like
00:51:48 lob he he's going to, his draft stocks going to be very predicated on what happens this
00:51:53 week.
00:51:54 This is a big week for him.
00:51:55 Um, there's some other running backs.
00:51:57 I'm just getting my preview up here, uh, which will be up tomorrow, 98, five sports hub.com.
00:52:01 Uh, Cody Schrader from Missouri is another player who could handle that.
00:52:06 Maybe passing down back role.
00:52:08 Interesting story was D two standout went to Missouri, became a big part of their identity.
00:52:13 Um, as they kind of had a resurgence here the last couple of years, decent tight end
00:52:18 group.
00:52:19 I would say the senior bowl, uh, Jatavian Sanders at the shrine bowl.
00:52:23 He's the second tight end after Brock Bowers.
00:52:25 I really like him.
00:52:26 I do.
00:52:27 Uh, but you know, it's, you're getting a good look at different types of tight ends
00:52:32 in this class.
00:52:33 Like if they want the big traditional tight end, uh, Brevin span forward from Minnesota
00:52:37 as a guy, I really like you talk about rare size six, seven, two 70, but he can move a
00:52:42 little bit.
00:52:44 So he's an interesting player.
00:52:46 Jared Wiley of TCU is another guy I like.
00:52:48 I think he's had a good couple of years, quite a good couple of years.
00:52:51 If they want that move tight end.
00:52:52 I know a lot of people are familiar with Ben Senate and if they're going to run a West
00:52:57 coast thing and they want their Kyle use check exactly.
00:53:02 And then there's Jaheim bell.
00:53:03 Who's more of like a hybrid tight end receiver, like tight end slot receiver kind of guy.
00:53:08 He could be another shot at John who Smith to use that guy correctly.
00:53:12 By the way, I had a good year in Atlanta.
00:53:15 So, um, those guys are interesting on the defensive side of the ball.
00:53:19 I know nobody really wants to hear about the defensive side of the ball.
00:53:23 The tackle class is super fun, except all the fun guys are going high.
00:53:26 McKinley Jackson from a and M's probably the closest they get.
00:53:30 Um, it is a good group of corners and they do need a, another boundary corner.
00:53:35 Chris Abrams drain is a guy really liked for them last year as a sleeper.
00:53:39 Now he went back to school and improved his stock, Missouri six 11 is one 95.
00:53:46 So he's kind of a tweener.
00:53:47 He can play both spots.
00:53:48 He has played both spots.
00:53:49 He's a converted receiver.
00:53:51 He started playing receiver a couple of years ago.
00:53:53 And if you remember when, when we talked about three cool in a couple of years ago, I'm a
00:53:56 big fan of that because I think those guys and you see it in, in Abrams drain and the
00:54:03 way he plays so good at catch point.
00:54:06 So good at tracking the ball.
00:54:07 So good down the field because they have those wide receiver instincts.
00:54:10 Now the rest of his game still raw, but he's good athlete.
00:54:13 Again, he's got that multi-positional experience that I like.
00:54:15 He's got decent size as a third rotational corners, a developmental player.
00:54:20 He's really interesting.
00:54:21 And then Max Melton from Rutgers and other day three corner.
00:54:23 I like just really good on ball production.
00:54:27 Doesn't get beat at the catch point.
00:54:29 Also excellent on special teams.
00:54:30 He blocked four punts in 2022 has some return experience as well.
00:54:34 So as they need to kind of everybody's rolling their eyes, Oh, special teams guy, you're,
00:54:38 you're taking him later in the draft.
00:54:41 He's also a developmental defensive player.
00:54:43 Somebody's got to play in the kicking game.
00:54:44 Like you need players to play there.
00:54:47 And then it's safety.
00:54:49 Cameron kitchens.
00:54:51 If they had their stuff together, picking in the twenties, we would be talking about
00:54:56 Cameron kitchens as a Devon McCourty replacement.
00:54:58 And that would be every mock draft and it would be great.
00:55:00 And he's an awesome player.
00:55:02 They can't take Cameron kitchens in the first round.
00:55:04 They just can't do it.
00:55:05 They can't afford to do it.
00:55:06 So you go down late day to maybe in the third round, maybe you trade up, you know, so you
00:55:11 make the pick at 68 and you trade back up into the top 100 somewhere in the eighties.
00:55:15 Javon Bullard was George's free safety this year as a player I really liked for them.
00:55:20 And say on Vaki from Utah who plays free safety slot corner and running back.
00:55:25 And he's going to be a late day three pick is interesting.
00:55:28 And then we can get to special teams, Brian, but I know I just rattled off a bunch of names.
00:55:32 So I'll let you react.
00:55:33 Yeah, no, you hit a lot of them.
00:55:36 Bullard was, he seems like one of the more free safety types in the, in this class.
00:55:40 So if you want to transition back to, you know, having a true like rangy guy back there,
00:55:45 Bullard would be a good fit.
00:55:47 I like Bo Braid from Maryland.
00:55:48 He just kind of, he's one of those more box safeties, but he just kind of plays with his
00:55:53 hair hair on fire.
00:55:55 Kyrie Jackson from Oregon is just like a lengthy, I think he measured in at like six, three
00:56:00 with a really long arms.
00:56:01 Just I mean, Oregon, long Oregon cornerbacks seem to work pretty well.
00:56:05 So that that'd be interesting, but he could be like back into that round three.
00:56:10 So maybe too early to go for a corner.
00:56:13 Adam Hart from Notre Dame is just kind of like a freak athlete at the corner spot.
00:56:20 Back to offense.
00:56:21 I like, you know, Jalen, right?
00:56:22 Unfortunately he won't be there now, but Tennessee running back just, I mean, he's a home run
00:56:27 threat anytime he touches the ball and then you hit on lobby.
00:56:31 Jaheim Bell.
00:56:32 Is it lob or lobby?
00:56:34 I think it's lobby.
00:56:35 Okay.
00:56:36 I thought, I know somebody else with that, like not, no, like when I used to do play
00:56:41 by play, I remember that name coming up and in that instance it was lob.
00:56:44 So that's what I'm going off of.
00:56:45 He, his family might pronounce it differently.
00:56:47 I'll find out this week.
00:56:48 I watched one highlight, like actual highlight with the commentary and I think they said
00:56:54 lobby.
00:56:55 So that's just, I did that and I must have found different highlight cause they said
00:56:57 lobby.
00:56:58 We'll find out.
00:56:59 That's almost always the first question with these guys.
00:57:00 Will you say your name for us?
00:57:01 Yeah.
00:57:02 So and at the tackles too, you're going to need that with the tackles.
00:57:06 Yeah, absolutely.
00:57:07 At that spot.
00:57:08 But yeah, Jaheim Bell, Ben Sinnott.
00:57:10 I mean Sinnott, you'd nail it.
00:57:11 Like I first went to Kyle Juszczyk if, especially if they're going to that type of offense and
00:57:15 AJ Barner from Michigan, another tight end.
00:57:19 Just, I mean they turn them out.
00:57:21 It's tough cause every time I watch him, I just see who's their other tight end who's
00:57:26 going to be eligible next year.
00:57:27 Who went off in the playoffs.
00:57:28 I forget his name, but he, he's awesome.
00:57:29 But he's like, Barner's a good run blocker.
00:57:31 Yeah.
00:57:32 I'm just like, why can't you be Colston Loveland?
00:57:35 He's a, he's a good run blocker obviously coming from Michigan, but it's just like,
00:57:38 it's a run first offense, so you don't get many opportunities.
00:57:41 So it'd be nice to see what he can do maybe with some more, you know, chances in the passing
00:57:47 attack that that'll be fun to watch.
00:57:49 But a lot of names there, but some intriguing guys, but I mean, Torrey Taylor, Punter, Iowa.
00:57:55 Yeah.
00:57:56 I'm not ready.
00:57:57 I'm not moving off Bryce Berenger all of a sudden here, but we, we ought to just watch
00:58:01 Torrey Taylor this week and watch him hopefully hit bombs because he's awesome.
00:58:07 I was, I was in, in your spot, obviously when they drafted Jake Bailey and I was the big
00:58:10 punter guy and, and you know, there were more punters coming out that I liked.
00:58:13 Obviously you don't talk about him.
00:58:15 Torrey Taylor's six, four, two 32.
00:58:17 He's one of the biggest players at least built like a linebacker and he rocks the crap out
00:58:21 of all it is set like every NCAA record dude rules, dude, just freaking rules.
00:58:27 Enjoy him.
00:58:28 It doesn't mean the Patriots should draft him.
00:58:29 Enjoy him.
00:58:30 He's just fun.
00:58:31 You went to either of the kickers.
00:58:32 Uh, it's, it's Will Reichert who I like from Alabama and Joshua Cardi from Stanford, who
00:58:36 I'm not as familiar with.
00:58:38 Yeah.
00:58:39 I'm not that familiar with the Stanford kid.
00:58:41 We obviously know the Alabama kicker.
00:58:42 We've seen him a lot.
00:58:43 I just, I don't think they're going to be in a position to draft a kicker again this
00:58:48 year.
00:58:49 So I I'm with you.
00:58:50 I, I, they should bring in a kicker, but free agency UDFA, honestly, Harrison Mevis is the
00:58:55 more interesting one to me, the kicker from Missouri.
00:58:57 They call him the thicker kicker cause he's like two 50 and he doesn't carry it like an
00:59:01 athlete like Torrey Taylor does.
00:59:04 He might be, he might be undrafted though.
00:59:06 And you, you get him then I would not draft another kicker, but I, it's that kind of thing
00:59:11 where like you can't entirely rule it out.
00:59:13 If they end up somehow they make a trade, they end up with a bunch of seventh round
00:59:16 picks.
00:59:17 Will Reichert's hanging around, but you just grab them, you know, so you don't have to
00:59:20 negotiate for him as a UDFA.
00:59:22 Um, cause I do like Reichert.
00:59:23 I think he's a good kicker.
00:59:24 The interesting thing, and we may not get the answer on this this year under Belichick,
00:59:28 they only drafted kickers with experience kicking and inclement weather in college,
00:59:33 right?
00:59:34 So you had Ireland who's at Maryland.
00:59:35 And before that was at Eastern Michigan, uh, where it's nasty.
00:59:39 You had, uh, uh, Moody was at Michigan or Wasser was in Maryland.
00:59:43 Before that he was in Buffalo.
00:59:45 Uh, it, Kostowski was in Memphis where it does, you know, late in the year, November,
00:59:51 December, you're kicking in some crap.
00:59:52 Then a Terry, even going back to him, North Dakota or South Dakota is one of them.
00:59:57 Um, they didn't draft guys from the South or guys that played in domes.
01:00:00 So that would rule out Reichert.
01:00:03 Stanford could go either way.
01:00:04 Again, I don't know that we get the answer to that this year, whether that was a Belichick
01:00:06 thing or whether that gets continued, but I don't think he, these guys would really
01:00:11 qualify for that, which makes it interesting.
01:00:13 Yup.
01:00:14 Yeah.
01:00:15 I just, I agree they have to add a kicker, but for competition in the off season, but
01:00:19 I just don't think you can use a draft pick a one on the, unless you know, you, you do
01:00:23 trade back and you pick up a bunch of, uh, a late round picks there, but yeah, I don't
01:00:28 think they're in a position there.
01:00:30 What about, uh, any gunners you got your eye on?
01:00:33 Oh, like I said, max, max Melton.
01:00:36 Yeah.
01:00:37 Max Melton.
01:00:38 This is the 40 yard dash.
01:00:39 This is what it was made for.
01:00:41 Right.
01:00:42 That's what we, apparently people are annoyed.
01:00:43 I give that explanation every year, but every year somebody DMs me and says they learned
01:00:47 something.
01:00:48 And so you're going to keep hearing it.
01:00:50 There you go.
01:00:51 All right.
01:00:52 So I think unless any other last names you have to throw out, I think we, uh, hit, hit
01:00:57 on a lot of them there and we could,
01:00:59 I mean, there's some other players like higher in the draft.
01:01:02 That'll just be fun to watch.
01:01:03 Chris Braswell is an edge from Alabama.
01:01:05 I like him.
01:01:06 Um, probably not for the Patriots, but just you want to have fun watching.
01:01:09 Uh, Oh, uh, Quinion Mitchell.
01:01:12 It's one of the more interesting players this week.
01:01:15 Uh, he's currently projected to be a first round pick.
01:01:18 He has some variants.
01:01:20 Toledo, right?
01:01:21 Toledo, right.
01:01:22 So he's been a lockdown corner at Toledo for two years, but that's in the max.
01:01:27 So kind of like we talked about with lobby, lob, uh, how are we, we're pronouncing it,
01:01:32 right now.
01:01:33 He, he wasn't the FBS level.
01:01:35 So it's not quite the jump, but seeing him go against guys like Tez Walker, Xavier LeGette,
01:01:40 Johnny Wilson, like, let's see.
01:01:42 All right.
01:01:43 This played in the Mac.
01:01:44 Let's see how it plays with the big boys.
01:01:46 And he's in it.
01:01:47 I don't think even if he struggled struggles, I don't know that he struggles to the point
01:01:52 where he's falling to where the Patriots would take a corner, but he's an interesting player.
01:01:57 And again, the, the way this works for the Patriots with the picks they have, especially
01:02:01 this year in some of their specific needs, you want him as a Patriots fan, you want him
01:02:07 to be going in the twenties.
01:02:09 Cause maybe he bumps down one of those tackles, or maybe he bumps down one of those receivers
01:02:12 from the late twenties into the early thirties, and you can grab them.
01:02:15 So the guys that are like fringe first rounders like that, you, you want them all to look
01:02:19 good.
01:02:20 And, and Quinion Mitchell's a guy that does have some range in terms of where he could
01:02:24 go.
01:02:25 He's a lot wider than the average player, and this will be a big week for him.
01:02:29 Yep.
01:02:30 Last one I'll throw out is, uh, the Oregon center, Jackson powers, Johnson.
01:02:34 He's a, I love that guy.
01:02:35 His name's a full sentence.
01:02:36 Yeah.
01:02:37 Jackson powers, Johnson.
01:02:38 He, he's a really talented center, but you're probably looking like a top 50 pick.
01:02:44 He could, he could be a first round pick, even a late first round pick.
01:02:48 And that's just probably not in the Patriots range right there for, uh, you know, that
01:02:53 center position.
01:02:54 But he's a really good player and he should have a good week down there at the senior
01:02:59 bowl.
01:03:00 But unfortunately it might not be, might not be the path they can go down.
01:03:04 But I think that will do it.
01:03:07 That is a lot of names in both the coaching search and the senior bowl rosters that we
01:03:12 just ran through.
01:03:13 But, um, we should be back on Thursday at the end of all these practices.
01:03:18 We can break down some, some more of what happened throughout the week, but make sure
01:03:22 you follow Alex on Twitter @realalexbarth and go to 985thesportsup.com.
01:03:27 You can read his senior bowl preview, uh, tomorrow and you can follow me on Twitter
01:03:32 at I am Brian Hines.
01:03:33 And I'll also have a senior bowl preview up tomorrow and throughout the week at patspulpit.com.
01:03:39 So you make sure you check that out as well.
01:03:41 Thank you all as always for tuning in and we will see you guys later this week.
