Digital reporter Sian Jones with the headlines across the North-West
Transcript
00:00 Hello, my name is Sian Jones and these are the latest headlines from our newsrooms across the North West.
00:07 Apprentice star Paul Bowen has launched home deliveries of his famous Bowen pies to South Ribble.
00:13 Paul was fired from the hit BBC series on Wednesday and joked "I'd have sat myself to" when speaking to the Post after the show.
00:20 But Paul has wasted no time in bouncing back and is now extending home delivery of his family's famous pies to South Ribble.
00:27 A support group for people with addiction has been set up in Wigan Borough.
00:31 Louise Westhead from Hindley established the group with others in order to help people battle up the substance abuse such as alcoholism.
00:40 Having experienced the process herself, she believes that she can provide support by passing on experiences and advice to them.
00:47 In other news, a Blackpool based nurse who has helped set up a life-saving cancer screening service was given a retirement send-off to remember after 37 years in the profession.
00:58 Louise Newton, 54, of Thornton stepped down from her post as lead nurse at the NHS Lancashire Battle Cancer Screening Programme and was given an extra special leaving due on her last day on Friday.
01:10 Apart from the cards and gifts, there was a lovingly creative video presentation in which many of Louise's past and present colleagues paid heartfelt tribute to her.
01:20 The Hairy Bikers gave two very different cafes their serial of approval when they rode into North Lancashire recently.
01:28 Lancaster's Global Village Cafe and Archer's Cafe in Bolton-le-Sands welcomed Dave Myers and Sive King several months ago and will be featured in the Hairy Bikers Go West later this month.
01:39 The programme is dedicated to Lancashire, which Dave describes as his home turf having been 'born in Barrow' when it was still part of Lancashire.
01:48 And finally, Proud Partners, who helped transform a derelict forgotten past of Pendle's heritage into a £32 million arts, sports, educational and leisure venue, has celebrated its triumphant completion.
02:01 It has been over a decade since Pendle Enterprise and Regeneration Briarfield Mill Ltd ran a national masterplan and design competition for the historic Briarfield Mill.
02:12 This week, some 12 years later, joint venture partners Barnfield Investment Properties and Pendle Borough Council celebrated the official completion.
02:21 The weather now, a bright and breezy day with sunny periods and cloudier spells with highs of 8 degrees.
