00:00Hello, my name is Sian Jones and these are the latest headlines from our newsrooms across the North West.
00:05For the second time in the space of a month, plans to open a new outlet on Preston's Deepdale Shopping Park have been shrouded in mystery.
00:13An application has been lodged with Preston City Council for permission to carry out work on the vacant unit that used to be occupied by the Outfit clothing chain.
00:22However, the proposal has been submitted in the name of a firm identified only as Preston Retail Ltd, giving no clue as to the identity of the brand hoping to join the line-up of stores at the Blackpool Road site.
00:36A Wigan community has been left dismayed at the closure of its post office.
00:41The Huckley Hall post office on Carr Lane will close on Saturday 7th December due to the Postmaster's decision to retire.
00:48The nearest alternative branch offered to customers will be Goose Green Post Office which is inside the Morrisons Daily on Clopgate Lane.
00:56In other news, the Helter Skelter at North Pier was reportedly blown down after Blackpool was hit by strong winds.
01:03The structure is said to have fallen into the sea as winds of up to 70mph battered the resort during Storm Ashley on Sunday.
01:11The Helter Skelter on Central Pier also reportedly toppled onto a food stand as strong gusts hit the coast.
01:18One of Williamson Park's historic features could be out of bounds for the foreseeable future.
01:24The Temple Shelter is currently inaccessible as the cobble pathway which leads up to it has been made unsafe according to Lancaster City Council which owns the park.
01:33We are in discussion with English Heritage so that we can source the correct cobbles to repair the path using specialist contractors, a council spokesperson said.
01:42And finally, police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy was attacked in a Burnley Park and left with a serious head injury.
01:50The incident happened in Faraday Park on Iton Road at around 8.30pm on Tuesday when the victim was approached and assaulted by four males wearing masks.
01:59He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition and officers have carried out a number of enquiries to identify those involved and are now asking members of the public who might have seen something suspicious in the area at that time to come forward.
