It's our huge wrestling episode! @OSW gifted us a WWE cookbook and we make the Bushwhackers' jalapeño mac and cheese recipe, as well as incredible fried chicken with "Bayley's Chicken Huggies." We discuss all things WWE and wrestling and even cut a promo on one another.

00:00 [MUSIC]
00:25 Welcome to BXM All Box Smack Wrestling, and here we go.
00:30 [MUSIC]
00:34 Frankie Frain here to address the BXM Universe,
00:38 his former partner John Hunt not in the building tonight.
00:42 >> Echo, living room and kitchen on.
00:47 >> Whoa, how'd he do that?
00:49 >> For nine years, I have been making macaroni and
00:56 cheese with John Hunt.
01:00 >> [APPLAUSE] >> One of the best in the business.
01:05 >> And for all nine years, I've stood in this very kitchen.
01:11 Milk and butter on a skillet, playing number two to his number one.
01:19 >> Come on now.
01:20 >> And every week, every Sunday, I put that yellow trash in my mouth.
01:27 >> Trash?
01:28 >> And I pretended I liked it.
01:30 No, I pretended I loved it.
01:33 >> You suck, you suck, you suck.
01:37 >> Listen to that crowd, they don't like this one bit.
01:40 >> The fact of the matter is this,
01:43 macaroni and cheese is a low income food.
01:47 >> [APPLAUSE] >> Well, I like it.
01:54 It's a hearty meal.
01:56 >> Look at these clowns in the living room.
02:01 >> His wife and daughter are in that room.
02:03 >> Look at this guy, boring Chuck.
02:07 For five years, they said, bring back boring Chuck.
02:13 Look at this boring piece of crap.
02:17 And then you got this guy who can knit and
02:20 sew his way to an on camera personality.
02:24 >> My God, my God.
02:26 >> Juntz's cart has pulled up to the arena and John Hunt is in the building.
02:31 He's currently taking it to Frankie Frank and
02:34 the arena has come unglued for the return of John Hunt.
02:38 >> He's back, he's back.
02:41 >> Frankie, do you smell what the Junt is cooking?
02:43 >> Today on Box Magazine.
02:44 [MUSIC]
02:54 >> Wrestling, you ever watch it?
02:58 >> I was not ever a big watcher, but my friend Gary,
03:01 we used to be a big watcher back in the day.
03:03 So I got some kind of second hand from him and we'd occasionally watch it.
03:06 >> During Attitude Era and stuff, I watched it every week.
03:09 As a subscriber to Peacock, I'll catch their major pay-per-views.
03:12 >> You still tune in.
03:13 >> Nothing is more enjoyable than the Royal Rumble for me.
03:15 Do you know the Royal Rumble rules?
03:16 >> I don't really.
03:17 >> All right, so the idea is that every three minutes,
03:19 a new contestant comes out to the ring.
03:21 And in order to get thrown out of the match, you have to go over the top most rope
03:26 and both feet have to touch the mat outside the ring.
03:28 So you're throwing people around.
03:29 And so if you were powerful enough to every time a new person came out,
03:33 throw that person out, then you can keep it managed.
03:35 But as the ring crowds up- >> Yeah, it gets unmanageable.
03:38 >> And then maybe contestant number 16 is one of the huge guys.
03:41 >> Yep. >> And he does clear the whole room.
03:42 >> [LAUGH]
03:43 >> I've always said wrestling,
03:44 the reason that it's been an enduring format.
03:46 It's rock concert, just the entrances alone.
03:49 It's circus, right, with acrobats.
03:51 Stand-up comedy.
03:52 It's drama.
03:53 >> You got everything together.
03:55 It sounds like a cool package.
03:56 >> A smart man once said, when wrestling is terrible, it's very terrible.
04:00 But when it's great, it is some of the finest entertainment you can find.
04:04 >> A lot of wrestling sucks, but when it's good, it's [BLEEP] great.
04:09 >> It has become this pipeline for The Rock is the biggest thing ever.
04:13 Batista is a big deal, and John Cena is the biggest thing ever.
04:16 So it is this talent pipeline.
04:18 Well, anyway, so Jay from OSW Reviews, big wrestling YouTube channel,
04:22 a few months ago he sent us this book.
04:24 We've got WrestleMania coming up.
04:25 Cody Rose versus Roman Reigns is the big match,
04:28 with The Rock playing a role.
04:29 The Rock's back.
04:30 >> Yes. >> The Rock owns some stake in the company.
04:32 >> Okay, okay.
04:33 >> You know The Rock sits at the board.
04:34 You know The Rock owns it all, which means The Rock is your boss.
04:38 And he said, hey, there's a macaroni and cheese in this thing.
04:40 >> There is.
04:41 It is the Bushwhacker Mac, and let me tell you, it is a heck of a recipe.
04:45 >> Yeah, what makes it unique?
04:46 >> It's got a lot of stuff in it.
04:47 18 ingredients going into this Mac.
04:50 And it's the first Mac we've ever cooked that has peppers in it.
04:53 Definitely do some peppers, some of the portobello.
04:55 >> Definitely can taste the peppers.
04:56 You know, I think it's actually kind of nice.
04:58 The peppers overpower it a little too much for my liking anyway.
05:01 >> It's got chorizo, it's got ground beef, it's got jalapenos,
05:04 it's got onions, so many different things.
05:06 >> So it's hot?
05:07 >> It is spicy.
05:08 It's gonna be a spicy Mac.
05:09 One of the optional ingredients is jalapenos, right?
05:11 >> Yeah, I think you gotta do it.
05:12 The Bushwhackers,
05:13 I think they were just two kind of like mentally deficient guys who did this.
05:17 >> Yeah.
05:17 >> I love coming shopping for mother.
05:19 Look at this, cousin Luke, isn't it a bloody piece?
05:22 >> Zach, was there any more to them than that?
05:25 >> Not really.
05:25 >> [LAUGH]
05:26 >> Yeah, they were like a comedic tag team.
05:28 >> Luke and Butch.
05:29 >> Cousin Luke.
05:30 >> And yeah, they spoke out of the corners of their mouths.
05:32 >> You know what, big cuz?
05:34 I'll need me bloody teeth.
05:36 How can I eat without me bloody teeth?
05:38 >> They like lick each other.
05:39 Is there something?
05:40 >> Yeah, well, the tagline here is why lick someone's head
05:43 when you could be licking a clean plate of this cheesy, spicy chili Mac?
05:47 >> I think Luke would headlock Butch and lick his head.
05:50 >> He would lick the head and then use him as a battering ram.
05:53 >> The chicken too, eh?
05:54 >> Yeah, well, that's for a second dish we're gonna make during the dead bake.
05:56 >> So you're telling me that there's another recipe that you found?
05:59 >> Yes, Bailey's chicken huggies.
06:01 >> Yes, her schtick for a while was that she was spunky and she loves to hug and
06:05 she's, yeah, she's fun.
06:06 Now she's gone goth.
06:07 >> I like this version better.
06:08 >> Yeah, everybody does.
06:09 >> That's a minor chord.
06:12 >> I would have given you my heart.
06:15 >> I think she, at the Royal Rumble, we may be getting hugs again.
06:18 >> Okay, okay.
06:19 >> I know your true self.
06:20 >> No, I'm a trouble twisted soul.
06:23 You know nothing about me.
06:26 >> The oldest thing in the book is that people who don't know anything about
06:28 wrestling think that the audience is deluded about the reality of the theater.
06:33 You do know it's fake, right?
06:35 >> They are an inseparable part of the entire thing.
06:38 If you do, for instance, a heel turn,
06:40 the audience will tell you whether or not they accept the heel turn.
06:43 Yeah, the company can't just do whatever the audience wants,
06:45 because it'll be democratic anarchy.
06:47 They sort of have to innovate and surprise, but
06:49 you can't stretch the audience too far before you start to lose them.
06:52 >> It kind of means we want to watch some wrestling.
06:54 >> You should at least watch like a WrestleMania.
06:56 >> All right, well, we have a lot of cooking to do, Frankie.
06:58 >> It smells like onions in here.
06:59 >> I have done some prep because otherwise we'd be here all freaking day.
07:02 It'd be as long as the telecast, which is now two nights.
07:05 >> Two nights of how many hours per night?
07:07 >> I want to say it's like six.
07:08 My favorite wrestler of all time?
07:09 >> Yeah. >> Mick Foley.
07:11 >> Mick Foley. >> I got the colors.
07:12 If you ever thought you needed to be in like ripped shape to be a wrestler,
07:16 you don't.
07:16 >> You don't. >> If you need to be young, you don't.
07:18 They have out of shape old guys wrestle all the time.
07:21 Maybe too much.
07:22 No, I don't know, Mick Foley had that like I'm psychotic thing.
07:25 >> Yeah, he's the only wrestler to be three entrants into the same
07:29 rumble under three different gimmicks.
07:30 >> Yeah, he had three different personas.
07:32 He had Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love.
07:34 >> That's funny.
07:35 >> So he kept losing and then coming out of a different guy.
07:38 I think more often than not, you have to have the bad guy win.
07:42 Because otherwise the good guy's winning won't be exciting.
07:44 >> Yeah.
07:45 >> You have to blue ball the audience for many,
07:48 many months for like when's this gonna happen?
07:51 There's these moments where it's like, this is the perfect time.
07:54 This would be the time to give it to the good guy.
07:56 And sometimes they're like, not just yet.
07:58 You know, Triple H, the wrestler, he's in charge of the whole thing now.
08:01 He'll be like, well, the story never stops.
08:02 See, there's no like series finale here.
08:05 So we have to keep the drama going and the conflict going.
08:07 But you can go too far with it.
08:09 You can have the bad guy win too many times.
08:11 >> Starting off here, a half pound of ground beef.
08:13 >> Of Huggies.
08:14 >> Of Huggies.
08:15 This is the first time I think we've ever used ground beef on Boxman.
08:18 >> My dad, when we were little, he would get bread torpedo rolls and
08:22 ground hamburger meat, stick that in the thing and then melt cheese all over the top.
08:26 >> My God.
08:27 >> I've been trying to hint to Nina for like months.
08:29 I'm like, I would really like to recreate that.
08:31 One of the wrestling problems is when they do the high risk stuff.
08:35 >> Like what's high risk?
08:37 >> Well, I'll give you the most legendary one.
08:39 The one you'll see all over Reddit.
08:41 Mankind versus The Undertaker.
08:43 They had sorted out that Undertaker was going to throw him off the top of a cage onto a table.
08:48 I don't know, what would you say the height was?
08:49 25 feet?
08:50 >> About 30 feet.
08:51 >> 30 feet?
08:52 >> Wow.
08:52 >> It's too, you know, Nick Foley is over 300 pounds.
08:55 Undertaker is over 300 pounds.
08:57 As gingerly as you could, took him by the neck, tossed him, Foley leaps.
09:02 >> Yeah. >> 300 plus pound man, he's a big guy.
09:04 Is able to flip midair and he lands on, you know, a weak table.
09:08 >> Yeah. >> But broke bones and all the rest of it.
09:10 >> Goodness.
09:11 >> Then he gets up.
09:12 The gimmick was he got off the stretcher and he rushed back to the match.
09:15 He climbed the cage again with a broken shoulder.
09:18 >> Oh my God.
09:19 >> The part that wasn't planned was that Taker choke slammed him on the top and
09:25 he went through.
09:25 >> Through the cage?
09:26 >> Well, can't be overstated, especially back then.
09:29 The ring mat was hard.
09:30 It didn't have any give.
09:31 It's not a bounce castle.
09:33 And if you have an uncontrolled fall, which is what this was,
09:36 see at least the cage one was a controlled fall.
09:38 This one was a completely uncontrolled fall.
09:39 You can actually see him in serious pain.
09:42 >> If he throws him up on the other side, there's.
09:44 [SOUND]
09:48 >> God, stop.
09:49 Stop, stop.
09:50 >> That's it, he's dead.
09:51 >> He hits it hard, breaks more bones.
09:53 He somehow stood up, barely.
09:55 By this point, he had such a bad concussion, he doesn't remember any of it.
09:58 He puts out tacks all over the ring, thumbtacks.
10:00 Taker slams him onto the tacks.
10:03 He rolls onto the tacks.
10:04 >> My goodness.
10:05 >> Like a pin cushion.
10:06 He had lost a tooth, the tooth was stuck in his nose.
10:08 He's all messed up.
10:09 I mean, it's a remarkable match.
10:11 Some of it over planned, some of it under planned.
10:13 We've never seen anything like that ever again in wrestling.
10:16 You couldn't.
10:17 People would be going to jail.
10:18 They did things like, let's have Shane McMahon jump off the cage onto his butt,
10:22 or jump off the titan tron.
10:23 What do you got there?
10:24 >> I got some hot chorizo.
10:26 Give it a sniff.
10:26 >> Ooh.
10:27 >> Doesn't that smell nice?
10:28 >> The Bushwhackers know what they're doing.
10:29 I can't wait to lick somebody's forehead.
10:30 Every time somebody does a big fan favorite injury,
10:35 you set an unhealthy standard for like,
10:37 oh, this is what it would take to entertain the audience.
10:40 And something I always liked that Bret Hart used to say,
10:42 he was like, if you and the other guy are getting hurt,
10:44 you're not wrestling correctly.
10:45 Like, we do this every night, basically.
10:47 We shouldn't be hurting each other.
10:48 >> The fact that he broke bones, I mean, obviously,
10:50 for a 30 foot fall, you gotta break a bone.
10:52 I mean. >> No, he was a mess.
10:53 >> Yeah. >> He was a total mess.
10:53 >> Ridiculous.
10:54 [metal clanging]
10:55 >> Yeah, so you want it to look aggressive and impactful
10:57 without actually being aggressive.
10:59 That's the art of the thing.
11:00 But yeah, I think that like,
11:02 anytime you're watching something where you're like,
11:03 oh, somebody could die in front of me for my entertainment.
11:06 You're like, okay, so then am I complicit in their pain?
11:09 I don't wanna be.
11:10 And it leads to people being addicted to pain medication
11:12 and not being able to grow old.
11:14 It's been interesting,
11:15 especially after the Chris Benoit thing.
11:17 There was a real effort I felt like maybe it was required.
11:20 We're not gonna be all roided out.
11:21 We're not gonna get concussions every night
11:23 and become psychotic.
11:24 >> Yeah, when you're expected to like leap off of
11:26 tall things and land on your body.
11:28 >> Exactly. >> Every night.
11:29 It's almost like the music scene.
11:30 >> The rock star kind of--
11:32 >> You're on, you're traveling.
11:32 >> Mentality. >> Yeah.
11:34 >> So we actually need the fat
11:35 for the next phase of the recipe.
11:36 So I'm straining off the fat so we can utilize it.
11:39 And we're gonna add the onions.
11:41 One large sliced, chopped up green bell pepper.
11:44 >> Is this all still for the Mac?
11:46 >> This is all for the Mac.
11:47 Baby.
11:48 Chopped jalapeno.
11:48 >> That's another fun thing you can do with the narrative.
11:50 You can take people who are like untouchably baby faces.
11:54 Good guys.
11:55 For a decade.
11:56 And then the heel turn is that much more--
11:58 >> Dramatic.
11:59 >> Hulk Hogan was Hulkamania,
12:00 eat your vitamins, say your prayers.
12:02 Finally he comes out and says,
12:03 "I did it all for the money."
12:05 That's a common heel turn.
12:07 I did it all for the money.
12:08 Yeah, like how could you?
12:09 Like you were a hero to children.
12:11 And it's like, I did it for the money.
12:13 Now I say that every member of the audience
12:15 understands what's going on.
12:17 But I'd be lying.
12:18 I know people who take it all just a little too seriously.
12:22 Who are like, "But I want Cody to have
12:25 "what's coming to him."
12:26 [laughing]
12:27 Like, it's a fictional character.
12:29 >> Yeah.
12:29 >> Fictional characters.
12:31 >> They're talking about fictional characters.
12:33 Fictional characters.
12:36 >> When did you start watching wrestling?
12:37 >> Yeah, it would have been 2000.
12:38 I didn't have cable as a child.
12:40 Raw was on USA.
12:41 I didn't have that, so I just missed it on account of that.
12:44 Raw was their flagship show.
12:45 Then they launched SmackDown in like 1999.
12:48 >> Yep.
12:48 >> And that was on UPN.
12:49 That was Thursday nights on network television.
12:51 And I think that was a big move for them.
12:53 They were like, "We're gonna get on network TV."
12:54 >> Yeah.
12:55 >> So I just caught it one night.
12:57 I go to school.
12:58 All my friends were like,
12:58 "Yeah, we've been watching this for the last five years."
13:01 >> Where you been?
13:02 >> I got an I Killed Kenny t-shirt.
13:04 I got a PS1 t-shirt.
13:05 I got a WWF t-shirt.
13:07 And then you do get caught up in the drama a little bit.
13:09 What's gonna happen?
13:10 >> Yeah.
13:11 >> You also have to respect, the shows are structured
13:12 to have your kind of main event people open the show
13:15 and close the show.
13:16 >> Yeah.
13:17 >> And you have all these mid card people in between.
13:19 And a lot of times you'll find that some of the mid card
13:22 people will become your favorites.
13:23 >> I'm adding three cloves of freshly squeezed garlic here.
13:27 >> I could just eat that.
13:28 Onions, garlic and peppers.
13:30 >> Yeah.
13:31 I had gotten into wrestling in the early 90s.
13:33 My cousin rented the 1992 Royal Rumble.
13:37 I remember looking at the box in the rental store
13:40 and it had like Jake the Snake and stuff
13:41 and all those characters up front.
13:42 And it looked so appealing.
13:44 I remember Saturday afternoons had wrestling
13:48 and it would come on after the cartoons
13:49 and I would normally bow out
13:50 because I don't really know what this is.
13:51 Then when Austin became big, let me ask you this.
13:54 Did you watch Sunday Night Heat?
13:56 >> A little bit.
13:56 But I mean, I was big into wrestling way back into the 80s.
13:59 My dad would order pay-per-views.
14:01 So like I got to watch WrestleMania three and four.
14:04 >> Oh wow.
14:05 >> You know, as a kid, you're really into it.
14:06 You don't really know the shtick.
14:08 So like when Hulk Hogan got attacked by earthquake
14:11 and was injured, they had like a thing you could send
14:14 like a get well card to Hulk Hogan.
14:16 And as a child, I did that.
14:18 And we got a reply with a thank you card from Hulk Hogan.
14:21 >> Wow.
14:22 >> What's the exact extent of his injuries?
14:25 >> Well, you know, he took that tremendous shot
14:27 with that steel chair in the back
14:28 and it tore up that sub scapularis area pretty well.
14:31 And then.
14:32 >> Even when I was a fan in the Attitude Era,
14:34 nobody in my family was going to buy a pay-per-view.
14:36 >> Back in the 80s, you had Royal Rumble,
14:38 WrestleMania, Survivor Series, and SummerSlam.
14:42 So there were only like four major pay-per-views
14:44 and it was like 30 bucks.
14:45 >> I've got a tablespoon of chili powder that I just put in.
14:49 >> He's got a secret ingredient.
14:51 >> What secret ingredient?
14:52 >> Chili powder.
14:55 >> Two tablespoons of flour,
14:58 which is actually going to be the base of a roux.
15:01 >> Rudy Poo!
15:01 >> Ah, hey, don't do it.
15:05 >> It's a roux that involves all of these vegetables.
