We revisit Ollie's Bargain Outlet, this time in New Bedford, MA, much closer to home! The location was a former Shaw's, and carries the Building 19 branding. We also visit the trampoline park nearby.

00:00Well, they did it. They built an Ollies.
00:02The name of this episode should be An Ollies of Our Own.
00:08High five!
00:09Well, it's like within 15 minutes of my home in a plaza that we have covered before numerous times.
00:13And we, of course, have been to Ollies, but we had to travel like all the way out to...
00:16Was it in, like, East Granite, Trinidad? Like, way far up?
00:19Yeah. Have you been in here yet?
00:20I have not. It's only been open for three days.
00:22It's long established that this is Building 19.
00:25Yes. Building 19 closed down a few years ago now.
00:27More than ever, good stuff cheap.
00:29And this store, you may notice, has good stuff cheap.
00:32After it closed down, they bought up the name Good Stuff Cheap from Building 19.
00:36I thought it was fascinating that they've bought back the At Building 19 branding for this location.
00:41We're only about two and a half miles from the original Building 19.
00:45So, we've done, like, that plant store that used to be at the Building 19.
00:47It had kind of some of the remnants.
00:49We'll never be able to do a Building 19 Juntz Cart.
00:51Sadly, no.
00:52But this is getting close.
00:54It's getting darn close.
00:55It was a Shaw's, definitely.
00:56So, how come it's not always At Building 19, At Shaw's?
00:58At Shaw's. That's a valid question.
01:00They do not accept a BT.
01:02Really?
01:03You would think.
01:04Of all the places?
01:05Yeah.
01:06Maybe they figure, like, come on, you can afford it.
01:07Watch out, guys. Bargains ahead.
01:08I didn't make the connection that there was a relation between Always and Building 19
01:13until I saw the illustration style.
01:15The origination of the styles are independent.
01:17They both had the funny advertising old man.
01:20I don't buy it.
01:21No?
01:22It's too identically the same.
01:24I mean, some of them are literally the exact same jokes.
01:26Yes, they've just taken a piece of the Shaw's and not redid it at all.
01:29This was, like, the customer service area.
01:31Oh, yeah.
01:32In the Shaw's.
01:33And, like, they just ground up the floor tiles and removed them and called it a store.
01:37I love it. It's very Building 19.
01:38Ollie's actually famously has arcade one-up deals.
01:44It's a little weird, isn't it?
01:48This price is no good.
01:49$4.98 for a big pack like that?
01:51Yeah, isn't that...
01:52That's convenience store pricing.
01:53Unless we're just old men who don't know prices.
01:56Do you know I put up a compilation of season one and two of Junk's Cart,
01:59which was 2014 and 2015,
02:01and everybody was like, rewatch this.
02:03The prices are crazy different.
02:05I have to, like, suppress my rage nowadays.
02:08At Walmart, $4.78.
02:09And it's $4.98 here.
02:11You ever see a king-sized Tootsie Roll?
02:13I have never in my whole life.
02:15Or a king-sized Charleston chew?
02:16I appreciate the random candy.
02:18Like, when have you ever heard of Little Fuzz?
02:20Creamsicle cotton candy.
02:22Actually sounds kind of good.
02:23You know how much?
02:24I thought you were going to start trying it.
02:27How much? Let's see.
02:28Don't you just love to bargain shop.
02:30Yeah, to bargain.
02:31Don't you just love a bargain, which is the Christmas tree store.
02:34Don't you just love a bargain.
02:37In 1980.
02:38Don't you just love a bargain.
02:40See, like, this is a good price. These are all good prices.
02:43Isn't this the strategy? Mix in the good with the bad.
02:45Obviously, Job Lot does that. Big Lots does it.
02:47I mean, everybody does that.
02:48I feel like a store like Five Below, where they're kind of like,
02:50you don't know what's cheap and what's expensive.
02:52Exactly. If you don't know your prices,
02:54I didn't think these were that great a deal,
02:56and that I priced what Tide actually costs,
02:58and it's a really good deal.
02:59Do you think you'll stop by Ollie's from time to time?
03:02Oh, I definitely will.
03:03Really?
03:04I do the rounds. I'll have a lunch at the Chinese Buffet,
03:06come over here, go to Savers, then go to Job Lot.
03:08And now I'll just add this in, because this is another great bargain.
03:10Got it.
03:11The fact is, people aren't going to, like, go to a million stores
03:13to get the best price on each item.
03:15You're wasting more money than you save at that point.
03:17You're spending all your time going between locations.
03:20To save 20 cents on M&Ms you don't need.
03:22I buy so much less variety of food than I used to buy.
03:25I buy a lot more just bare chicken.
03:27There's a couple products I love that I'm not going to stop buying,
03:30like Relish.
03:31Look, they have, like, kind of a compelling toy section.
03:33Like Building 19 before them,
03:35they had these toys that are just bizarre.
03:37Like, for example, Baby Seinfeld set.
03:40We're talking about a show that ended, what?
03:43What's the demographic for this product?
03:45I have no idea.
03:46Theoretically, it would be adults with collectibles,
03:48but this looks too childlike.
03:50I think it's for adults with children.
03:52Come on, your parents have money.
03:54You think?
03:55Like, I'd like to push Seinfeld on you.
03:57Yeah, like, she's sticking it to me.
03:59You're crazy.
04:00She's sticking it to me, Jerry.
04:01George!
04:02Sticking it!
04:03But they also have some more recent stuff.
04:04Parks and Rec.
04:05Ooh, Gloria, a collage kit.
04:06You would love a collage kit.
04:07I love Squishmallows so much.
04:08Yeah?
04:09Yes.
04:10I love the Macaroni and Cheese Squishmallow.
04:12I do, I love that one.
04:13Ooh, look at this board game, Forbidden Bridge.
04:15Do you remember the commercial for this?
04:17There it is.
04:18Forbidden.
04:19Let's go back.
04:20No, let's get the jewels.
04:22Forbidden.
04:24The game's Forbidden Bridge.
04:26Bridgerton clue.
04:27Nina, you have to have it.
04:29Bridgerton Monopoly is $5.
04:31This is building 19, prime fare.
04:33Yeah?
04:34Like, close out $5 Monopoly custom variations
04:37that did not sell for $10.
04:39It's almost like a toy,
04:40because it has kind of like a bouncy bridge.
04:42Forbidden Bridge is Forbidden!
04:44Forbidden!
04:45Forbidden!
04:46Forbidden!
04:47Electronic Target Game with Koosh.
04:49I would play it.
04:50What do you got here?
04:51A little board game.
04:52Hasbro card game.
04:53I have a game night every week
04:54that I play with some friends.
04:55What's your favorite board game?
04:57Out.
04:58What's your favorite board game?
04:59My favorite of all?
05:01Oh, I have so many I like.
05:02That's such a,
05:03that's kind of an unfair question.
05:05Well then, tell me a board game you like.
05:07Uh...
05:10Do you play board games?
05:11I don't even have an answer.
05:12Do you have an answer?
05:13No.
05:14No.
05:15No, I'm going with, um,
05:16The Castles of Mad King Ludwig.
05:17All right, we have a new official answer now.
05:19That is the official answer.
05:20It's on the bio.
05:21Read the bio.
05:22It should be somewhere in, like,
05:24the official LLC description of Red Cow Entertainment.
05:26Yes!
05:27It's part of the press pack.
05:28You know?
05:29I am going to buy this,
05:30because I love cute little, like,
05:31this is three bucks.
05:32Yeah.
05:33You can't just keep playing
05:34Ludwig van Beethoven,
05:35whatever you're playing.
05:36Yes, Ludwig van Beethoven.
05:37This is cute, too.
05:38I'm going to buy that.
05:39Why not?
05:40I've got to be honest with you.
05:41I'm not, like,
05:42a big fan of board games in general anyway.
05:44Yeah.
05:45But then especially not the ones
05:46that try really hard to have a sense of humor.
05:48I'm like, settle down, board game.
05:49If I may preview a potential future piece of content,
05:52they're opening a restaurant depot next door.
05:54Oh, they sell, like, a wholesale restaurant?
05:56Yes.
05:57Oh, wow.
05:58And, like, big cans, big supplies.
05:59We'll be there.
06:00I just wish I had a sweet, sweet, sweet can.
06:03Rougu Precious Cargo Luggage.
06:06They should have called it Cargoo.
06:07Precious Cargoo.
06:08Or is it Hat on a Hat?
06:09Is that two jokes in a row?
06:10Hey, there's kind of a hat on a hat, buddy.
06:12And I was like, what does that mean?
06:13You're like, it's one funny thing,
06:14but then another totally separate funny thing on top of it?
06:18I like when you stack the hats.
06:19It's not too high.
06:20Like, I know that the place is famous for the illustrations,
06:23but they're dense.
06:24They're freaking everywhere.
06:26There's, like, not an inch of it.
06:28I love it.
06:29They're pretty great.
06:30They're pretty fun.
06:31There's so many more than there was at the other store.
06:32Yeah.
06:33It's like it's one person's job to make them nonstop,
06:35and then they have no shame about posting them everywhere.
06:38Our prices are for the birds.
06:39I mean, that's, you know.
06:40Is there a good price for luggage?
06:42If you need luggage?
06:43Did you know Building 19 was featured in a film?
06:45A film directed by Paul Anka.
06:47Stop those monsters.
06:48One, two, three.
06:49It's got Paul Anka's guarantee.
06:53Guarantee void in Tennessee.
06:551979, starting over, starring Burt Reynolds and Candace Bergen.
06:59They used Building 19 as a contrast to Bloomingdale's,
07:02as two opposite ends of the retail spectrum.
07:04Well, you know I'm going to source it.
07:05I know you're going to source it,
07:07and I'm going to love when you do.
07:08Look, there's a shelving unit closeout.
07:10One of the shelving units I keep my computers on collapsed,
07:12and there was a casualty of one monitor.
07:14Nina loves storage.
07:16Small storage, large storage.
07:18Mom loves a good shelf.
07:20Now, let's just be thankful for awesome moms and awesome dads,
07:25because some of us don't have them.
07:27That's true.
07:28Some of us don't even have dads or moms.
07:29That's right.
07:30That's right.
07:31We should be thankful.
07:32But what do you have?
07:33The best parents in the world.
07:34Yes.
07:35Yes.
07:37Not this very edition,
07:38but we have read J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan.
07:40Really?
07:41It's fascinating.
07:42There's all kinds of things that happen in that book.
07:43Nana the dog, it was a stray in the park,
07:45and they just took it,
07:46and then said,
07:47you're going to be the Nana of our house.
07:48Take care of all the kids?
07:49At the end, Tinkerbell dies,
07:50and Peter doesn't even remember if it happened.
07:52That's right.
07:53He forgets it that way.
07:54Yeah.
07:55And they were like,
07:56oh, remember we went with you,
07:57and we killed Captain Hook?
07:58And he was like,
07:59I don't remember them after I killed them,
08:00which is a crazy thing to say.
08:01Nina, they got Berenstain Bear hard coverage over here.
08:03You can read your Bible.
08:05You can read your Bible.
08:07A whole lot of Joel Osteen.
08:08Dude must sell.
08:09The selection's pretty good.
08:11It is pretty good.
08:12When you go to Target,
08:13you don't really get a whole lot of selection.
08:14No.
08:15You never really got into coloring books,
08:16did you, loves?
08:17I didn't.
08:18That's okay.
08:19Coloring's not for everybody.
08:20Everybody likes different things.
08:21Color this when you are high.
08:22No.
08:23But there is this faith and lettering book.
08:25I think it's like a prayer journal
08:26with coloring, Gloria.
08:27Yeah.
08:28This might be the book for you.
08:29What if I brought that to the Christmas party?
08:30What would you do?
08:31I would eat it,
08:32and grade it on its taste.
08:33Children's inspirational.
08:34Yeah.
08:35So it's kind of like Where's Waldo,
08:36except you're finding Jesus.
08:37Literally.
08:38It's cute.
08:39Now they're marketing God towards women.
08:40Not a bad idea.
08:41Like a huge amount of Christian books.
08:43Was Building 19 ever this inspirational?
08:46I think so.
08:47Oh, look at this.
08:48This is so cute.
08:49Just so you know,
08:50they are super Christian.
08:51I mean, is it overtly?
08:52Yeah.
08:53Like a lot of times,
08:54the stories will end with like,
08:55and that's why Jesus wants it.
08:56Yeah.
08:57Yeah.
08:58My favorite one as a kid that I remember,
08:59they went through like a haunted tree,
09:00and then there was a lot of-
09:01There's a GBA game dedicated to it.
09:03Is there really?
09:04We just watched Back to the Future 2,
09:05and she saw hoverboards.
09:06These are the hoverboards they sell in real life.
09:08They don't actually float,
09:09but you can like get on them and-
09:11Roll around.
09:12Roll around.
09:13Can I get a hoverboard?
09:14How do you not fall?
09:15That's my question.
09:16Sets the balance.
09:17How do you not fall?
09:18And how do you like get around with them?
09:20I have no idea.
09:21I think we looked at rugs in the last one too.
09:23There's one that clearly is Friday afternoon material.
09:26Look, it's the bargain guy.
09:27Let's see if he has any fries.
09:29I don't get it.
09:30I don't get it either.
09:31Friday afternoon.
09:32Can I explain the joke?
09:33How do you feel about floor-to-floor carpeting?
09:35I love it.
09:36Floor-to-floor carpeting is a giant air filter
09:38for your whole house.
09:39As air circulates,
09:40it just picks up all the dust,
09:41then you vacuum up the dust.
09:42So I am a huge fan of it.
09:44I know it's out of style.
09:45I would like my house with wall-to-wall, please.
09:47I love this carpet, Nana.
09:48It's thick and lush.
09:49This is very in vogue right now.
09:51Your own silly home pizza thing that you'll use once
09:53and then realize it's a pain in the ass,
09:55you burnt your pizza.
09:56I don't even like brick oven pizza in general.
09:58I don't either.
09:59This place is called Brick around here?
10:00Yes.
10:01This is something my friends get so excited about
10:02and I'm like, no thanks.
10:03I'm so with you.
10:04I like fresh, regular old pizza.
10:06Yes, please.
10:07Not this unevenly cooked, charred,
10:10overly doughy, overly floured.
10:12It's all just flour on the bottom.
10:14Just recently, I did have a really good pizza at Joe's, though.
10:16Still, it was one of the best pizzas I ever had from there.
10:18I don't know if it was just luck or what.
10:19We went to a hole-in-the-wall pizza place
10:20in Fall River called Dave's.
10:22It had no air conditioning inside,
10:23but lots of seating,
10:24and the pizza was okay.
10:25The mozzarella sticks were some of the best I've had
10:27in a long time.
10:29A long time.
10:30You're talking my guy.
10:31Like 20 years.
10:32Turbo Chef in the air fryer, 4.8 quarts.
10:34And I love my air fryer so much.
10:36Yeah?
10:37Lately, I've just been doing raw chicken breasts.
10:38Put a raw chicken breast in for like 15 minutes.
10:40You got a delicious, freshly cooked chicken breast
10:42with minimal cleanup.
10:43Could you make a whole chicken in there?
10:44I have made a whole chicken in my air fryer.
10:46You shove a live chicken in and...
10:48I just...
10:49We always need art supplies.
10:51Yeah?
10:52Gloria is a project girl.
10:53I love that.
10:54Aren't you?
10:55Aren't you?
10:56What, a ton of sticky notes?
10:57Yeah, I have a work purpose for them.
10:59What in the world?
11:00You're buying a lot of stuff.
11:01Faith in lettering.
11:02Oh, you did get that.
11:03She wanted it.
11:04What?
11:05Look at this.
11:06A DVD player.
11:07A little compact DVD player.
11:08How much?
11:0917.
11:1017 bucks.
11:11I still have my five disc DVD changer from JVC.
11:12In gold plastic.
11:13And it is my favorite format.
11:14Blu-ray is not as appealing to you?
11:16You know, it's of course, the quality is great.
11:18It's lovely and all.
11:19But there are special features and the context menus
11:21and all that.
11:22DVD.
11:23Yeah, they put so much more effort into the DVD.
11:25Yeah, this place is hopping.
11:26It is hopping in here.
11:27Your cat playgrounds.
11:28Yes.
11:29I've always considered getting one,
11:30but I don't really have the room for it.
11:31That'd be like Gloria St. Quentin's dream paradise.
11:34Did you hear just recently that Target stopped
11:36accepting personal checks as a form of payment?
11:38Really?
11:39I was just noticing they do accept
11:40personal checks here, though.
11:41Gloria has convinced us to go to the trampoline park.
11:43This is the very first time I've ever entered
11:45a trampoline facility.
11:46Wait till you see it.
11:47There was Trekkie Cheese.
11:48There was Discovery Zone.
11:49Yeah, this is like the replacement
11:50for Discovery Zone, I think.
11:51Yeah.
11:52But it feels so much more dangerous.
11:53We're having an arm wrestle at her request.
11:55And I am not the type to let her win.
11:57All right.
11:58Our time begins.
11:59Your time begins.
12:08That was good.
12:09That was good.
12:14Ball pit.
12:15Tubes.
12:16So cool.
12:17Matt, do you like little rooms?
12:18She loves little rooms.
12:19I do.
12:20Wait, what if when I make a secret kid lounge
12:22in my school, I make like a secret room
12:24inside the secret room?
12:25And then I make like drinks and snacks
12:27and comfortable blankets and pillows and stuff.
12:30It will be my secret kid lounge.
12:33Is it safety tested?
12:35Oh, yeah.
12:36It's safety tested.
12:37Yeah, I'll help you out.
12:38Oh, yeah.
12:39It's like a backpack.
12:40Good girl.
12:41Only one at a time down the slide.
12:42That's the rule.
12:43I don't know.
12:44I don't think I'd like to go down there.
12:45No.
12:46I think it's a little intense.
12:47I'd have to evaluate the slidiness
