00:00While I was saying boo-erns, here's your look at the brand new Super 7, the Simpsons Ultimates
00:05C Montgomery Burns.
00:31To friends, he's known as Monty, but to you, it's Mr. Burns.
00:33Evil billionaires see Montgomery Burns as the boss every worker drone loves to hate.
00:37But you'll love this 7-inch scale, highly articulated Ultimates figure of Montgomery Burns,
00:40which comes with interchangeable heads and hands, as well as a variety of accessories,
00:44including Bow-Wow Blinky, the $1 trillion bill, and other items from memorable moments in the show.
00:48This made-to-order, the Simpsons Ultimates figure of Montgomery Burns
00:51will make an excellent addition to any collection.
00:55That fellow at Radio Shack said I was mad. Well, who's mad now?
00:58Just before, of course, we get a closer look, don't answer that.
01:00Before, of course, we get a closer look at the new Simpsons Ultimates Montgomery Burns,
01:04let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:06If I'm reading this correctly, then old man Burns stands about 6 1⁄2 inches in height,
01:11or the figure's about 17 centimeters tall.
01:14Sharing with you the very few Simpsons characters we did actually get in regular casual clothing,
01:18although it's strange to say casual clothing and bring in Crested the Clown.
01:21The only other character I can actually think of is that we're also getting Ralph.
01:24Think of it just for a second that we're getting ourselves Ralph before we actually got ourselves a Bart.
01:29Speaking of Bart, though, here's also what he looks like as Bartman's Bart.
01:32I mean, obviously, he's gonna be the apparent heir of the Burns family fortune,
01:35but again, like, the fact that they chose the characters that they did, it's just a crying shame.
01:40The fact that we are, again, getting ourselves a Ralph,
01:42but never at once getting ourselves just a regular-dressed Bart Simpson,
01:45really shows really what Super 7 had planned poorly, I feel,
01:49when it comes to Simpsons licensing and all the waves moving forward.
01:52See, Montgomery Burns does pretty good for himself for the accessory counts,
01:56although I have to kind of question some of the choice that Super 7 made.
01:59Here we go again, talking about the choices and directions that Super 7 went with their figures.
02:02Some of the accessories may have your head scratching, whether it's bald or not.
02:06First, the figure comes with, I suppose, the smallest of the accessories.
02:09He comes with $1 trillion.
02:11You can see this is the first and only time I'll be holding a $1 trillion.
02:14Is there even a $1 trillion bill?
02:16Anybody tells me in the comments section,
02:18I have a $1 trillion bill in my house right now.
02:20I'm probably going to call you a fibber face.
02:22On one side, it's printed. Of course, on the other side, it also has the face there as well.
02:26Nice, the fact that they would actually include this,
02:28as, of course, it is a referenced accessory in one of the episodes.
02:31Speaking of referenced accessories, the figure also comes included with Bobo.
02:35I like the look of Bobo.
02:37If I was to nickel and dime the details on the figure,
02:39I feel like in certain scenes, Bobo looks like he's actually got a wad of pink chewing gum
02:43there on the top of his head.
02:45But other than that, it looks pretty good,
02:46and Bobo even has the wandering drooping eye on the one side.
02:50He does have what seems to be gripping hands suitable for holding Bobo.
02:53He has one hand that's really the best for holding Bobo.
02:56It just basically clips onto his leg, and he holds it really quite well.
03:00Speaking of also hands, the figure also comes included two pairs of those gripping hands
03:03that can be swapped out with sort of the gestured hands that he has on either sides of his forearms right now.
03:08He also gets a pair of relaxed hands.
03:10Again, can just be popped out.
03:12And I guess supposing whether you wanted to use these hands,
03:15I sort of did start the review with those hands being the excellent hands.
03:18I suppose you could also say that these are better, more suitable for the excellent hands.
03:22And again, these would just be a case of popping them out from the existing hands that he has.
03:25So let's just, you know what, remove these right now.
03:28Of all the Simpsons figures, I actually find that Mr. Burns had the easiest hands to change out.
03:32Yet, ironically enough, he seemed the hardest figure to get out of his packaging.
03:36If you've ever gotten anything out of a Super 7 packaging,
03:39you know the frustrations that go then along with it.
03:42I mean, the figures themselves are always nightmares to try to get out of their plastic prisons.
03:46Mr. Burns seemed to be the worst.
03:47Would you say that that's his most excellent hands?
03:50I don't know.
03:51But the figures, like I said, his hands are pretty easy to change.
03:53We'll come back to the figure in a second.
03:55He also comes included with the Burns Weekly.
03:57It's too late.
03:59This has actually been done here in plastic.
04:01I was really root for the idea of getting accessories,
04:03even if they're supposed to be intended paper, put them on plastic.
04:06Plastic holds out a lot better.
04:08For all the things that were paper accessories that end up being printed on paper,
04:11never really lasts the lineage of however long I have these figures in my collection.
04:15I'd rather just actually if they just released these in softer plastic.
04:18Yes, it's kind of the softer plastic that's pretty much close to like a fruit roll-up,
04:22but at least it's something I know that's going to last over time.
04:24Paper is going to get ripped.
04:26It's going to get crumpled.
04:27I favor it.
04:28If I was to put down my vote, I would put it down for plastic paper accessories
04:31rather than actual paper, paper accessories.
04:34The last thing that Burns comes with before you start looking at his head sculpts
04:38is he also comes with Blinky the Three-Eyed Fish.
04:41Blinky's made several appearances in the episodes,
04:43one that he's actually been swimming in stream.
04:45There's also one, of course, the most notable one is where Burns, of course,
04:48invites himself over to the family household for dinner,
04:51and then they proceed to slice up Blinky the One-Eyed Fish, Three-Eyed Fish.
04:55He's nicely been prepared.
04:56It looks like on a bed of lettuce leaves.
04:58He has no dome or anything over top of that,
05:00so there's no way to fool Mr. Burns into what he's going to be cutting up at the family dinner table.
05:04But again, it's a nice little accessory that they include.
05:07There's really no way to remove Blinky.
05:08He's permanently attached to the display base or platter base.
05:11So again, a nice little accessory with that.
05:14Okay, let's talk a little bit about the heads.
05:16Now, the problem I have, really, with the heads is the choices that they then made.
05:19If we were to look at defaulted Mr. Burns' head,
05:22I mean, from the front, it looks good.
05:23From the side, it kind of looks like old Mr. Burns, like from the earlier Simpsons episodes.
05:27The one thing that, unfortunately, he's lacking
05:29is the fact that they decide to give him a head that's very similar
05:32other than just having his eyes closed,
05:33like he's really just relishing in whatever evil plan he's plotting.
05:37Gentleman to evil.
05:39The thing about it, though, is it's pretty much identical to the head that he has right now,
05:42other than the fact his eyes are blinked.
05:44That's it. That's all that's different between the two.
05:46He also has the screaming, mad power head sculpt,
05:49which, if really given the choice of the three,
05:51I'm just going to choose that anyways to display with the figure.
05:53But I feel like, if not having that,
05:55the other two head sculpts are just pretty much identical to one another.
05:58And yet, where is there ever a head sculpt for Mr. Burns
06:00where he just has a big smile on his face?
06:02He's often smiling in the episodes.
06:04Why wouldn't they have chosen to give one of those head sculpts
06:06in favor of one of these instead?
06:08Maybe even just doing away with this one altogether?
06:10I would have just rather traded this one in
06:12for an open eye Mr. Burns that has a big smile on his face.
06:15And yet, we don't get one at all with this release.
06:18Bummer.
06:19What's also a bummer is changing out the head sculpts
06:22because it's just a case of popping the head off the ball joint.
06:25That's not really a hard thing to do.
06:26But unfortunately, though, the times that I've done this,
06:28I don't know if you guys can actually see this at the base of the neck,
06:31I have scraped away all the plastic at the bottom of the neck.
06:34Now, obviously, if you're going to be putting this onto the ball joint,
06:37first of all, it's not the easiest thing at all.
06:39I would certainly suggest heating this up in hot water.
06:41Putting this onto the head, though,
06:42the number of times that I've done this,
06:44popping the head off, you can see,
06:46just what little times I've done it,
06:47it's scraped the plastic right at the bottom.
06:49I mean, you would never really see it
06:50because it's inside the collar of his shirt.
06:52But it just really sucks.
06:53I mean, there's really no way around it, I suppose.
06:55Being the fact that the quarters are so close to his collar,
06:58you can see also as well there's a little bit of yellow
07:00on the inside there, too.
07:01So it's scraped some of that off onto the collar.
07:04Bummer.
07:05My favorite of the three head sculpts, by far,
07:07is this one right here.
07:08And again, we're going to have to get down to the ball joint.
07:10The ball joints on this guy, I don't know why
07:12they're so difficult to get on there.
07:14But it's the mad power Mr. Burns.
07:16Ah!
07:19Nice-looking head sculpt, and by far my favorite of the three.
07:21Just again, like, had they only just traded out one of these,
07:24maybe keep this one, this one,
07:26and then instead of maybe having this one,
07:28having the smiling face,
07:30I think would have been the ideal head sculpt
07:32to include with Mr. Burns.
07:33Ultimately, though, this is going to be the one
07:35I'm going to be displaying on the shelf.
07:36I just love the way they sculpted the tongue here.
07:38Whatever criticisms, by the way, I do say about Super 7,
07:41there's no denying the fact that the actual figures we get,
07:43though having, yes, quality issues here and there,
07:45have been really sculpt-wise,
07:47have been really quite good.
07:49OK, so that's the head sculpt we're going to stick with right now.
07:51Just a stellar-looking sculpt from Mr. Burns.
07:53For the rest of his body, now,
07:55they're opting to go with this outfit.
07:57Depending on when you watch, of course, the series,
07:59he has either, like, this outfit.
08:01He has a jacket very similar with, like, a pink tie.
08:03There's also been times, of course,
08:04he wears himself a blue jacket, blue pants.
08:06They opted instead to kind of go with, like,
08:07the forest green jacket and forest green pants.
08:10Not a bad idea at all.
08:12Black tie is nicely painted.
08:14There's a few little areas where you can kind of see
08:15a little bit of the smudging of the black onto the white shirt,
08:17but overall, like, the paint's pretty clean on this guy.
08:20As we spin the figure around, of course,
08:21he does have the notable hump that Mr. Burns
08:23also has developed in the series as well.
08:25It's a nice, lean-looking Mr. Burns,
08:27but, again, like, the figure looks great.
08:28I just think maybe some of the choices
08:30when it came to arriving on the head sculpts,
08:32the three that they chose,
08:33either include a fourth head sculpt,
08:35which we know would never really have happened.
08:36That would have just upped the ante
08:37on the price of the figure,
08:38but at the very least, again,
08:39I think that one of the head sculpts
08:40probably could have been traded out instead
08:42for a smiling face instead.
08:44Now, for the head sculpt and the ball joints
08:46and all the figure's articulation below that,
08:48the head's gonna be on a ball joint.
08:49I still don't think I've got it all the way on there.
08:51The head does look down, it looks up,
08:52it looks back and forth,
08:53but I'm definitely gonna have to heat this
08:55before we jump over to the turntable.
08:57I had had that on originally,
08:59but I guess the plastic had cooled.
09:00By the way, this one hasn't scraped as much
09:03as this one right here.
09:04I don't know, maybe I just ended up
09:05putting this head sculpt on the neck instead
09:07too many times.
09:08But yeah, this one hasn't scraped as much,
09:10but I'm sure it's just gonna happen anyways.
09:13As for the shoulders,
09:14the shoulders are a little tighter on the figure,
09:16but again, I'd much rather tight joints
09:17than really overly loose joints.
09:19It allows the arms to rotate all the way around
09:21on both sides, both sides there.
09:23Once again, only single hinges on the elbows,
09:25whatever your feelings may be
09:26about single hinges on these figures.
09:28I mean, again, for a cartoon character,
09:29it doesn't really bother me.
09:30If it's supposed to be more of a realistic character,
09:32it had like G.I. Joe's.
09:33G.I. Joe's, I feel, should have had
09:35like a double hinge on the elbows.
09:36Characters like The Simpsons, obviously,
09:38it's gonna be still a little bit harder
09:39to pull off a excellent pose with Mr. Burns
09:42just because, again, he's only got a single hinge.
09:44But that single hinge also allows the form
09:46to rotate back and forth.
09:47The hands do, of course, rotate all the way around.
09:49Upper torso is gonna be on a ball joint.
09:51The legs do split, but they only split so far
09:53because the jacket goes so low.
09:55The legs only go that far, unfortunately,
09:56and that far back.
09:57I mean, there's really no way to get around that
09:59just because of the design of the character.
10:01His jacket naturally is this long anyways in the series.
10:04He had to carry that over as well to the figure.
10:06They probably could have put splits on the side,
10:07but then that would ruin the look of the jacket.
10:09I guess at the end of it,
10:10I would choose the design of the character
10:12over the functionality of the articulation.
10:15So, again, like, he only is really able to do that.
10:18You move forward and back on the legs.
10:19That's about it.
10:20He does have single hinges again on the knees,
10:22but I noticed, again, on mine,
10:23they're super, super tight.
10:25Again, comparing it...
10:27We just dropped the head.
10:28Comparing it to the Devil Flanders
10:29we looked at not too long ago,
10:30you know my feelings when it comes to Devil Flanders
10:33that I do really feel like that figure, boy,
10:35has some of the worst,
10:37not just on Simpsons, not just on Super 7,
10:39but I feel like of all the figures
10:41that we looked at on this channel,
10:42it has probably one of the worst articulation ever.
10:44Of course, if you saw the review, thank you for that.
10:46But, yeah, really tight on the knees here for Mr. Burns,
10:49and then, of course, for his ankles,
10:50they move up and down this way,
10:51and there's a nice little ankle rocker there as well.
10:54Overall, though, I'm glad to see
10:55that we've got ourselves Mr. Burns.
10:56I mean, even if the line is coming near to the end,
10:58Mr. Burns certainly would be one of those notable characters
11:00that if you were to do a lineup of Simpsons characters,
11:03Mr. Burns, for me, at least,
11:04would be pretty high on that list.
11:07Also really high on that list would also be Sideshow Bob,
11:09but considering now that the line
11:10is going to be dying off any time now,
11:13the likelihood of ever getting a Sideshow Bob
11:15is going to be, well, it's never going to happen.
11:17Mr. Burns does look good, though.
11:18I still, though, have to kind of question
11:20some of the choices that they made.
11:21I mean, obviously, if you're going to go
11:22with just the OG, classic look to Mr. Burns,
11:24I mean, with the buck teeth hanging down,
11:26I mean, it's a perfect-looking likeness of Mr. Burns.
11:28Other than maybe, obviously,
11:29having little spots on the side of his head,
11:31I think they would have rathered
11:32if they had outlined those
11:33so that it would just stand a little bit more.
11:35But I feel like, again,
11:36whether you like this head sculpt or not,
11:38I just feel like the heads are too identical to one another.
11:40I mean, they're literally looking like
11:41they're using the exact same mold
11:43other than just sculpting this one
11:44with blinking or the eyes closed.
11:46I feel like, instead,
11:47trade this one out for a smiling face,
11:49and then I think you would have had
11:50a much better Mr. Burns as a result of it.
11:52Wrapping up now the review for C. Montgomery Burns,
11:54still baffled by the head sculpt
11:55that Super 7 chose for the figure.
11:57In fact, looking around at the other
11:58Super 7 Ultimate Simpsons figures
12:00that we have looked at here on this channel,
12:02every one of the head sculpts that I can think of
12:04have all been very different from one another.
12:05Whether that's Moe,
12:06whether that's Crusty the Clown,
12:07even a Deep Space Homer
12:08have all had very unique head sculpts
12:10from one to the other.
12:11And yet, though, Montgomery Burns
12:13has two head sculpts that are almost identical
12:15other than just the way they've placed the eyes,
12:17with the eyes closed on one
12:18and the eyes open on the other.
12:19If not for that, I mean,
12:20they seem to be exactly the same heads.
12:22And you would think with enough source material
12:24that Super 7 would have had to research these figures,
12:26any one of them would have looked at that
12:28and said, well, there's probably episodes,
12:29there are episodes where Mr. Burns is smiling.
12:31Could we not have just included
12:32one of those head sculpts instead?
12:34Ultimately, though, I mean, again,
12:35just take it with a grain of salt.
12:36I just feel like of those other,
12:38of the three that we got,
12:39the one that I have right now
12:40is the best of the three,
12:41and ultimately just these other two
12:43are going to be going back to the tray.
12:44Just as a side note, though, the frustrations.
12:47I can't believe how awkward it was,
12:48how hard it was,
12:49to get all of the accessories
12:50out of the tray for Montgomery Burns.
12:52I mean, even like the head sculpts alone,
12:54I had to really fight.
12:55I think I may have even damaged the tray
12:57trying to even get the head sculpts out.
12:59I don't even really like the idea
13:00of having to put them back in.
13:01I might just end up putting them in a bag.
13:03You know, again, one of my biggest worries, too,
13:05as I was fighting to get the heads out,
13:07was am I going to be scraping the paint?
13:09Luckily, the tray didn't do it,
13:10but the neck putting it into his collar
13:12definitely did,
13:13and that's a bit of a bummer as well.
13:15As for his accessories,
13:16I do like they included the Bobo.
13:18I like the trillion dollar bill
13:19and Blinky the three-eyed fish,
13:20although there's really no place
13:21to store it with the figure.
13:22I suppose I could have it displayed on his foot
13:24or right around his feet
13:25when I have it on the shelf.
13:26What do you guys think, though,
13:27of Montgomery Burns?
13:28Let me know down below in the comments section.
13:29Are you a little also bummed by the fact that,
13:31you know, of three heads that we get,
13:33two have to be so close to one another?
13:35And what other accessories
13:36would you have also included
13:37with Mr. Burns?
13:38Let me know down below.
13:39I did also find this one
13:40at Entertainment Earth,
13:41so if you guys have also wanted
13:42to pick this one up for yourself,
13:43even though we know the end is in sight,
13:45there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
13:47I can already see it right now.
13:48Even though we are getting to the end
13:50of the Simpsons license for Super 7,
13:52my plan is still to pick up
13:53the remaining figures.
13:54Ralph is available right now
13:55over on their site,
13:56as well as Kang and Kodos.
13:57Definitely want to get my hands
13:58at least on Kang and Kodos.
13:59I mean, even as big of a disappointment
14:01as Devil Flanders ended up being,
14:03I do at least want to get
14:04all the Simpsons trios
14:05of horror-related characters,
14:06even though we only really have three.
14:08If you guys did enjoy this video,
14:09I want to hit it with a like.
14:10You guys are loving the content
14:11you guys are seeing,
14:12and you certainly do want
14:13to stick around for more.
14:14We will, by the way,
14:15be looking at more Super 7 reviews.
14:17That's definitely going to be
14:18coming in the pipeline.
14:19In the meantime, though,
14:20if you guys want to go back
14:21and see all the other things
14:22I've looked at,
14:23popping up at the very end
14:24of this video,
14:25not only will be a Simpsons playlist,
14:26that's covering the territory
14:27not only of what we've gotten
14:28from Playmates,
14:29Bandai, I think,
14:30also is in there as well,
14:31and also, of course, Super 7,
14:33but also there's a playlist
14:34at the adjacent corner,
14:35and that will also be
14:36all the Super 7 reviews
14:37that I've done.
14:38There's definitely a lot more videos
