00:39 Two years minus two months since you last led the Grand Tour.
00:54 How does it feel to go back on stage to get the jersey?
00:58 It feels very good.
01:03 I'm super happy to have a pink jersey finally in my career as well.
01:09 I'm super proud and super happy.
01:11 Today was a really great day.

02:14 Did you sleep in the jersey?
02:21 Yeah, yeah.
02:22 And a message for your family and Lucas?
02:24 Yeah, they will stay with me.
02:27 It was very complicated for me yesterday.
02:32 I had big stomach problems.
02:35 I couldn't assimilate what I was swallowing.
02:39 It was a real pain.
02:43 It's not going to be a pleasant life, but I'm going to do the Dauron.
02:47 The Giro is just around the corner, so I'm still in good spirits.
02:52 Once I've solved these little problems, it should be fine.
02:55 Stage two of the Giro d'Italia from San Francesco al Campo
02:59 to the famous finish at the Sanctuary of Europa.
03:02 161 kilometres.
03:04 After a little bit of a skirmish, five riders got away.
03:08 All Italian in the end, including Filippo Fiorelli,
03:11 wearing the Maglia Ciclamino and off in pursuit of further points
03:15 in the points classification.
03:18 Once they'd established a lead, it was a question of how many points
03:21 Fiorelli could get, and he duly took the first sprint at Valdengo
03:25 and then the Intergiro sprint at Croccimoso to extend his advantage
03:29 and virtually seal himself and guarantee himself the lead
03:33 in the points classification going into stage three.
03:36 After that, Andre Piccolo of EF Education First went solo,
03:39 built up a half a minute advantage and started to scoop up
03:43 mountains points over the two Cat 3 climbs, including the climb
03:47 to Nelva, the penultimate climb of the day, by which point
03:51 he had a lead of over one minute to the rest.
03:54 Heading into Biella and the approach to the final climb of Europa,
03:59 Ineos Gredadiers were bearing in hard on the lone leader.
04:03 Then Tadej Pogacar, suffering a front wheel puncture,
04:07 also hit the deck, got himself a bike change,
04:11 and with a great deal of composure and clear thinking from UAE Team Emirates,
04:15 was piloted back slowly but surely with 10km remaining to the front of the race,
04:20 where UAE Team Emirates started to control things
04:23 on the steep slopes of the Europa climb.
04:26 Rafa Maica then, the last mountain lieutenant for Tadej Pogacar
04:29 as they finessed their tactics with Andrea Piccolo caught.
04:33 This was now the front of the race and Maica's last effort
04:36 released Tadej Pogacar with 4.5km to go.
04:40 Ben O'Connor and Geraint Thomas able to go with him
04:43 as Jonathan Navaez relinquished control of the race lead
04:46 and then Tadej Pogacar with 4.3km remaining went solo.
04:50 From this point on, it was a question only of by how much he would win
04:54 as a big chase group got themselves together on the climb,
04:57 watching Tadej Pogacar building up a lead of 30 seconds.
05:00 In the end, he took victory on his own at the Europa climb.
05:04 A winner of stages at the Vuelta, the Tour de France and now the Giro
05:08 and into pink, Tadej Pogacar ahead of Dani Martinez and Geraint Thomas.
05:13 But Pogacar assumed control of the race.
05:16 Now that you have this jersey, do you want to keep it or you want to let it go?
05:20 No, one dream is done and now we think about to bring this jersey to Rome
05:30 but if we lose it in between, it's no problem.
05:35 And so the question is whether Tadej Pogacar will hand over the pink jersey
05:40 to another team or whether he's intent on holding it all the way to Rome.
05:43 For now though, he leads by 45 seconds ahead of Geraint Thomas in second
05:47 and Dani Martinez in third.
