00:00:00Can you say hard hats, folks?
00:00:07Hard hats, lunch pail, steel tool, boots.
00:00:10Anything short of a championship this year is a fail.
00:00:12Look at this boomer right here.
00:00:14You've just got so much talent here.
00:00:16Somebody said we need to apologize for Jalen.
00:00:18Can I pull the John? What are we apologizing for?
00:00:21What did we say? What did we do?
00:00:30I'll tell you what we're apologizing for, Jimmy.
00:00:33Everything?
00:00:35Foolishness.
00:00:37Foolishness.
00:00:39You know what I'm going to apologize for?
00:00:41Thinking that these guys were going to show up to work today.
00:00:44I'm sorry.
00:00:46I thought they were going to work today. They weren't.
00:00:48The hard hat doesn't touch this head after a performance like we saw tonight.
00:00:52It's too bad.
00:00:54So we're apologizing. Yeah.
00:00:56We need to scrub the film from Game 1's post-game show.
00:01:02We let them do it to us again,
00:01:04which is they come out,
00:01:06stomp a team that clearly looks like they don't have the personnel to match up with them.
00:01:09I was wearing the hard hat tonight.
00:01:11Go on.
00:01:12And we did it.
00:01:13We did it again.
00:01:14So we're starting the show on an apology.
00:01:16We did it again.
00:01:17Yeah, it's actually fair.
00:01:18And we rarely apologize for anything because rarely do we need to.
00:01:22It's not how apology can work.
00:01:24I apologize for allowing these guys to fool me again.
00:01:30I'm apologizing for them, to be honest.
00:01:34I'm apologizing for the Celtics players and staff.
00:01:38Nice, cracking a beer.
00:01:40I love that.
00:01:43For tricking us.
00:01:46You know what it is, John?
00:01:48Shame on them.
00:01:49Shame on them.
00:01:50The amount of people that say I'm drunk every game.
00:01:53I get that a lot.
00:01:55But you drink.
00:01:57I don't drink anymore.
00:01:59A lot of people say that Jimmy's high all the time.
00:02:02Oh, I'm high.
00:02:03I don't drink though.
00:02:06What do you mean you drink?
00:02:07Jules, you drink.
00:02:08You drink.
00:02:09Jules, you drink.
00:02:12I don't drink on the weekdays.
00:02:13Sometimes on the weekends.
00:02:15Weekend warrior.
00:02:17It's bad for you.
00:02:18Don't do it.
00:02:20It's bad for you.
00:02:21You know what else is bad for you?
00:02:22Watching this game.
00:02:23Sitting there.
00:02:24Being a fan of this team and watching this game.
00:02:26Being a fan of this team is tough.
00:02:28And you wouldn't know it unless you were one.
00:02:31But only if you were one to the point where you weren't in denial about it all.
00:02:36There are some fans who still think it's great to be a fan of this team.
00:02:40I can't figure those people out.
00:02:43It's been a rollercoaster.
00:02:46And mostly it's been not a fun rollercoaster, I feel like, in a lot of situations.
00:02:52But we've all been here before.
00:02:55John, this happened last series, to an extent.
00:03:00They totally flopped.
00:03:02Yeah, I'm going to agree with this comment.
00:03:05We are.
00:03:06Well, not all of us.
00:03:08Sherrod's an enabler.
00:03:09A lot of us.
00:03:11Sherrod is not an enabler.
00:03:12Come on.
00:03:13What's up, Sherrod?
00:03:14What's up, fellas?
00:03:15What's going on?
00:03:16Sherrod's got a jersey of himself just hanging behind.
00:03:19That is a baller move right there.
00:03:22Sherrod's also got a little team going on right now.
00:03:25Sherrod's got a jersey of himself.
00:03:27I need one of those.
00:03:28I need that, too.
00:03:30She plays for the University of Colorado.
00:03:32Her last name is Sherrod.
00:03:35Really?
00:03:36Yeah.
00:03:37There you go.
00:03:38Okay.
00:03:39Well.
00:03:40We're not related.
00:03:41Close enough.
00:03:42Well, everyone in the chat is asking for Rage.
00:03:45You have a jersey of yourself.
00:03:47It's coming.
00:03:48It's a slow burn.
00:03:49Rage is building.
00:03:50You've got the Rage after this one?
00:03:52It's not the Rage.
00:03:55It's, again, the angry versus disappointment thing.
00:03:58Here's what I'm angry about.
00:03:59Here's what I'm angry about.
00:04:01I'm angry for the enablers.
00:04:04I'm angry for the people that ignore things that are issues and act like
00:04:10it's not a big deal.
00:04:12Everything is a big deal.
00:04:13Okay?
00:04:14And, yeah, it's going to be a lot about Tatum tonight.
00:04:17It doesn't mean other guys didn't holiday.
00:04:20Yeah.
00:04:21You want a little more there.
00:04:23White had a cold game.
00:04:24That stinks a little bit.
00:04:26Starts top down.
00:04:27When you have a low-effort game and a low-energy game,
00:04:31it starts at the top.
00:04:33And they were not an engaged team tonight.
00:04:37And they were not.
00:04:39We could talk about the individual flaws and what everybody did,
00:04:43but they played soft tonight and they didn't care.
00:04:47And there's a couple moments that really stand out to me.
00:04:50We'll get into those a little bit as well.
00:04:52But, you know,
00:04:53I want to get everybody's thoughts before we go jumping all over the place.
00:04:57Because, like I said, is, yeah, Tatum's going to catch some shit.
00:05:00Other people will as well.
00:05:02Before we do all that,
00:05:03I just want to tell people briefly that the Garden Report, as always,
00:05:07is brought to you by PrizePix, America's number one fantasy sports app.
00:05:11We loves us some PrizePix.
00:05:13I think Bobby went more on Tatum.
00:05:16I don't think he got there.
00:05:18I think Bobby had hope.
00:05:20Bobby was hoping.
00:05:21I don't think Tatum got there.
00:05:23And, you know what?
00:05:26Game time.
00:05:27Hey, you want to see this soft-ass team play their home game?
00:05:30They're coming back to the Garden, at least for one.
00:05:32Five.
00:05:34Okay?
00:05:35So go do that.
00:05:37Go check it out with the best,
00:05:40best mobile ticket marketplace app out there.
00:05:43And that is Game Time.
00:05:44Also now a proud sponsor of the CLNS Media Network.
00:05:48You can watch Celtics get eliminated.
00:05:50You can watch Celtics get eliminated in five.
00:05:53Damn!
00:05:55We said it was over in five.
00:05:56Damn!
00:05:58We did say it was over in five.
00:06:01Yeah.
00:06:03And that's that.
00:06:05I'll start with you, just your primary takeaways here,
00:06:07before I rant about Tatum for two and a half hours.
00:06:10It felt like, even though the calendar says it's May 9th,
00:06:15it felt like this was December 9th.
00:06:18Because this is how you play in December.
00:06:20It felt as though they were just kind of going through the motions,
00:06:23that this was another one of 82 on the schedule.
00:06:25And, you know, we can find a way to win this thing.
00:06:28And if we don't, well, you know, we've got lots of season left to play.
00:06:31There just wasn't a sense of urgency.
00:06:33On the Celtics' part, at any point.
00:06:35I thought when Tatum had the three-point play
00:06:38and then Brown came back with the three-point play
00:06:40and it was a one-point game, I was thinking,
00:06:42okay, this is the wake-up call they needed.
00:06:45They're about to go on a run.
00:06:46And then I think Cleveland scored six straight or seven straight
00:06:49and then Joe Mazzullo calls a timeout.
00:06:51This was a game in which the Celtics just didn't play
00:06:55with the kind of force that you need to play.
00:06:57And I give Cleveland a lot of credit.
00:06:59Cleveland made some really good adjustments.
00:07:02They made Evan Mobley a bigger part of what they do.
00:07:05They had more ball movement.
00:07:06They weren't as Donovan Mitchell-driven offensively.
00:07:10They got others involved.
00:07:11They did a lot of the things that you're supposed to do.
00:07:14But, and again, this may come from the school of enabling,
00:07:18but Cleveland played maybe the best game they played in the playoffs all season.
00:07:24I mean, Terrence LeBrun had 21 points.
00:07:26John, he had 23 in the last four games total.
00:07:29Evan Mobley had the highest scoring game he's ever had.
00:07:31That being said, the Celtics should have still won this game by seven,
00:07:35even with those guys playing their best basketball, and they didn't.
00:07:38Yeah, sure.
00:07:41I mean, it was night and day compared to when you look.
00:07:44Sorry.
00:07:45I was muted.
00:07:46I was going to say they did those things,
00:07:47but this wasn't Caleb Martin shooting ridiculous shots
00:07:50that he normally doesn't hit.
00:07:51A lot of these were easy, like easy putbacks, blow-bys, you know,
00:07:55like they scored points because the Celtics didn't challenge them a lot.
00:07:59Then Mitchell got hot and started hitting stuff in people's face.
00:08:02But like, it wasn't like, I think the Celtics made it easy for them
00:08:06to get those buckets.
00:08:08That was kind of the thing.
00:08:09And before you get in, Jimmy, I just want to leave this out here.
00:08:12This is going to, like this, these types of comments,
00:08:15and I love you, Jay, and thank you for watching.
00:08:17But this is the type of stuff that's going to drive me nuts,
00:08:19because this is where the nuance and the debate comes in
00:08:22on the Tatum conversation, where, you know,
00:08:25for the last couple of days it's been the you-don't-know-ball crowd
00:08:29telling everybody Tatum did other things,
00:08:31and the rest of us saying we know that.
00:08:33But he's supposed to be an MVP player.
00:08:36He's a top-five supposed player, an All-NBA candidate,
00:08:40sixth in MVP voting.
00:08:42He's not supposed to be O.G. Annanoby or Jaden McDaniels.
00:08:46He's not a role player.
00:08:48So Derek White is a role player or a third piece
00:08:53or a fourth piece on your team.
00:08:55So he can't be expected to score 30 every game.
00:08:58So it's because of that that Tatum is supposed to do that type of thing,
00:09:02because that's his job.
00:09:04That's what he does.
00:09:06He's supposed to, in addition to doing all of those things
00:09:10that everyone gave him flowers about last game,
00:09:13screening and screen assists and this defensive Tatum,
00:09:17he's also supposed to be able to score on anybody at an elite level.
00:09:22And right now he can't shoot over Max Drews
00:09:25and he can't dribble past Tristan Thompson.
00:09:27That's a problem.
00:09:29So yes, Derek White turned into a pumpkin,
00:09:32but Derek White is not here to save you.
00:09:34Your best players are supposed to save you when people go cold.
00:09:37That's the point.
00:09:39That's what makes them the best players.
00:09:41That's why they make $300 million.
00:09:43I mean, my goodness.
00:09:45It's just driving me crazy these last couple days.
00:09:48Tatum absolutely can do little things to help you win,
00:09:53but then you would expect crazy efficiency in scoring.
00:09:56How many Jokic games during the year do you see him make seven of eight
00:09:59field goals with 14 assists and 16 rebounds?
00:10:02That's deciding, hey, I'm not going to shoot
00:10:04because they're paying attention to me.
00:10:06When I do, it's going to be because I've got these bunnies that I can make
00:10:10and I'm going to help everybody else out.
00:10:12Tatum's still trying to find it.
00:10:14He just can't find it.
00:10:15That's a problem from your best scorer.
00:10:17Yeah, you can look at Holiday and White and say,
00:10:20those guys didn't have it tonight, but they're not counted on for that.
00:10:25They shouldn't be counted on for that the way Tatum and Brown are.
00:10:30That's the problem.
00:10:31That's the problem with the Tatum conversation right now.
00:10:34Yeah, well said, Jon.
00:10:37It's reminding me of a few seasons ago before Tatum and Brown made that leap
00:10:44or one of their leaps where everything felt difficult for those guys.
00:10:48I don't mean to group Brown into this,
00:10:50but at the time it felt like scoring was difficult.
00:10:54It wasn't like these guys could just figure out how to get to the basket
00:10:58or get their 30 points, whatever it was.
00:11:01It feels like we've almost gone backwards in that sense when it comes to Tatum
00:11:04where everything seems difficult.
00:11:06He's not going to be able to go out there right now for whatever reason
00:11:09and give you what you need.
00:11:12After game one, I was probably a little light on him because I said,
00:11:17you know what, Tatum understanding the situation,
00:11:20seeing that Derek White's getting his, seeing that Jalen Brown's getting his,
00:11:24not trying to force things, not trying to make it about himself,
00:11:27not trying to shoot his way to 35 points when it's not really his night.
00:11:32Well, tonight was one of those nights where it's like,
00:11:34hey, Derek White doesn't have it, right?
00:11:36Could kind of use 40-point top five Tatum tonight, right?
00:11:39Right.
00:11:40This is the type of night where you do have to kind of instill your will out there.
00:11:45You can't.
00:11:46That's the scary part.
00:11:47And be that MVP.
00:11:48Well, exactly.
00:11:49That's the concern.
00:11:50And I brought that up after game one.
00:11:52I think there's a lot of Celtics fans out there right now
00:11:54wondering if he's capable of that.
00:11:56Can he go into Jalen Brunson mode?
00:11:58And again, I'll bring up Jalen Brunson again to compare the two,
00:12:00but Jalen Brunson was in the MVP discussion this year and he had some votes
00:12:06and he's carrying that through into the playoffs right now, Sherrod.
00:12:10He did it again last night.
00:12:12Took a Knicks team that was down by double digits at one point.
00:12:16He even missed the second quarter of that game.
00:12:18Came out in the second half.
00:12:20Carried his team to victory.
00:12:21And now the Knicks are looking at a 2-0 series lead.
00:12:23He's the reason behind that.
00:12:25And the Knicks are banged up too.
00:12:26And the Knicks have a lot of reason to – not a lot of reason,
00:12:30but you wouldn't fault them if they had lost last night's game.
00:12:33They lost another key player.
00:12:35But the point I'm trying to make is guys like Mitchell –
00:12:38sorry, guys like – well, Mitchell is one of them,
00:12:40but guys like Brunson, guys like Anthony Edwards,
00:12:42they're stepping up right now when it matters most.
00:12:45Fans want to see Tatum do that too.
00:12:47Fair or not, I think it is fair.
00:12:50This is your guy.
00:12:51Everyone's saying it's your guy.
00:12:52He wants to be the face of the league.
00:12:53He's going to get a max deal, John.
00:12:56This is the time where you say, here I am.
00:12:59I'm going to – I'll do it.
00:13:02And this is the moving the goalposts argument here on the Tatum stuff is,
00:13:05you know, you can't look at tonight and be like, well, he had 25
00:13:08and White only had whatever.
00:13:09So he was fine.
00:13:10That's kind of – we're kind of continuing to miss the point.
00:13:13And, yes, Judah, it's not – we know these guys aren't role players.
00:13:16What I'm saying is these are your carry the male offensive players.
00:13:20So they can't be counted on when you're struggling offensively
00:13:24to just get hot all the time.
00:13:26It's great when they do.
00:13:28If Derek White has taken himself to another level this year because of that,
00:13:32then give him $330 million and negotiate the White deal for Tatum.
00:13:37Like, he's not supposed to switch places with him.
00:13:40Like, White does everything right all the time every game
00:13:44and every once in a while goes bananas and scores a bunch of points for you.
00:13:48He's not supposed to be that guy.
00:13:50Like, he's not your alpha scorer.
00:13:53He saved you game one.
00:13:54White saved you game one.
00:13:55He saved your ass.
00:13:56He's done it a couple of times this playoffs.
00:13:58He really has, which is amazing.
00:14:00Yeah, you can go back to games four and five against Miami
00:14:03and Derek White was, I thought, the X-Factor that put them over the hump
00:14:06and did it in game one.
00:14:07But here's the thing about Tatum,
00:14:09and I think people really have to just embrace the fact that this is your best player.
00:14:15This is a time when your best players have to be the best version of who they are.
00:14:19And Jason Tatum has not been that guy.
00:14:21And that's the issue that the Celtics are trying to wrap their arms around
00:14:25because they have surrounded him with such an amazing supporting cast.
00:14:29A lot of his shortcomings, and he does have some,
00:14:32are not made a major issue because they're still winning.
00:14:36Tatum shoots 0 for whatever from three-point range and has 17 points,
00:14:40but the Celtics are going by 25.
00:14:42So all is forgiven.
00:14:43But I think to the point that John was making, you have to ask yourself,
00:14:47at what point are we going to see the best version of Jason Tatum?
00:14:51At what point is he going to be the guy that isn't worth that max contract,
00:14:57but shows why the Celtics think he's worth that max contract?
00:15:01And we just haven't seen that so far in the playoffs.
00:15:03And again, this is not another goalpost moving.
00:15:06Actually, everyone on The Garden Report agrees,
00:15:08the best version of Tatum is the one who lets the game come to him
00:15:12and then tries to involve other people and gets his when he can get his.
00:15:17One, he's not doing the former at an elite level.
00:15:21A handful of assists, great.
00:15:23It's fine.
00:15:24It's not like he's out there just setting people up all game long
00:15:28and you can take your hockey assist, potential assist, screen assist,
00:15:30and all that.
00:15:31That's fine.
00:15:32A lot of people get those numbers.
00:15:34It always goes deeper than just the counting stats.
00:15:37He's not setting people up at an elite level where the offense runs through him
00:15:42and he makes it work efficiently.
00:15:44It's not happening.
00:15:45He passes out of doubles and he'll sometimes make a good skip to an open shooter.
00:15:49You're supposed to do that.
00:15:50He's a professional basketball player.
00:15:52He's not doing that in an elite level.
00:15:54What you want is him not to force it because he feels the need to score all the time.
00:15:59The problem with him at the moment is when he is looking for it,
00:16:03he's really struggling.
00:16:05His rim attempts are feeble.
00:16:07They're spinning away.
00:16:08They're a high degree of difficulty.
00:16:10He's either that or he's foul hunting and he's not necessarily getting them.
00:16:14He's shooting stepbacks and he's just ice cold from deep.
00:16:19You need him to not do that.
00:16:21You have to have him, as Jimmy said, impose his will more.
00:16:25That's who he's supposed to be.
00:16:27Tatum is supposed to be able to get downhill on most people
00:16:30and go strong to the basket and change that.
00:16:32How much of it is mentality?
00:16:35The stepback and this and that.
00:16:37It's not happening for him.
00:16:39He's cold and you just need more.
00:16:41It's not hating and it's not ridiculous to say you need more from an MVP caliber player.
00:16:47You absolutely do, particularly when things get tough like they did tonight.
00:16:52The thing about Tatum is that he's so ridiculously talented
00:16:56that he can give you the numbers and not be the least bit impactful.
00:16:59Tonight he was minus 22 when he was on the floor.
00:17:02You look at his stat line, 25.7 rebounds, six assists, one turnover.
00:17:06That's a great stat line.
00:17:08But in terms of impacting winning,
00:17:10in terms of helping your team get over the hump on a night
00:17:13when you're playing a team that's playing pretty damn close to the best version of who they are as a team,
00:17:18you need your best player to be their best.
00:17:20And Tatum wasn't that.
00:17:22Again, like I pointed back to that sequence where he had the three-point play
00:17:26and Jalen had one right after him.
00:17:27I thought that was the wake-up call for Tatum, that I'm going to get downhill.
00:17:31I'm going to draw contact.
00:17:32I'm going to force these referees to blow this damn whistle
00:17:35because the foul is going to be that blatantly obvious because I'm that good.
00:17:38And if they're not going to follow me when I attack the rim, I'm going to finish.
00:17:42Didn't happen that way.
00:17:43And that, to me, is the missing element in Jason Tatum's game.
00:17:47Not the talent or skills that he needs to develop and evolve into,
00:17:50but just simply understanding time and place and space.
00:17:54When do I need to become the best version of myself for my team to win?
00:17:59I don't think Tatum has as good a feel for that as he should at this point in his career.
00:18:04Yeah, also he just has to hit layups.
00:18:07What's that?
00:18:08Also, he's got to hit layups.
00:18:10Go ahead, Jimmy.
00:18:12It's a mindset, Sherrod and John.
00:18:14In the playoffs, you have to understand that everybody's ratcheting it up.
00:18:19You can't just rely on talent.
00:18:20You need to understand that.
00:18:22You need to go somewhere.
00:18:23I don't know what Tatum needs to do to get to that place in his head,
00:18:28but he needs to find, he needs to dig deep and find this killer mentality
00:18:33or this mode that we, quite frankly, do not see nearly enough or rarely, if ever,
00:18:39do we see him kind of go into that mode.
00:18:41In the playoffs, that's what separates the greats from the really goods,
00:18:46and there are players who are really good that go into that mentality,
00:18:51and they can compete, and they do take it to the next level,
00:18:54and that's what you need.
00:18:55Tatum, we know he's not like the most, what do you want to say?
00:19:00He's not that guy that's going to be rah-rah all the time.
00:19:03We know that about him at this point.
00:19:04He's been in the league long enough.
00:19:06He's not that super emotional guy.
00:19:08He's not going to be Kevin Garnett.
00:19:10Nobody really is, but he's not going to be close to that.
00:19:13We know how talented he is, but in the playoffs,
00:19:15you kind of have to find that happy medium of both things
00:19:19where you actually do need to ratchet it up, the intensity.
00:19:23Sherrod, you listed Tatum's stat line, and there it is on our screen right now.
00:19:27It's a fine stat line.
00:19:28I get it, but that's not the stat line that they needed tonight.
00:19:31They needed him to give them 40.
00:19:33It needed to be a 40-point Tatum night in order for them to compete in this one,
00:19:36in order for them to stave off the Cavs in that second half.
00:19:39This was a tie game at halftime.
00:19:41What happened in that second half?
00:19:43What happened at halftime?
00:19:44What happened that they fell on their heels?
00:19:48Why did they give up so much in the fourth quarter?
00:19:50This isn't a regular season game anymore.
00:19:52We would make that excuse for the last three months of the regular season.
00:19:56We made the excuse, well, they're up X amount of games
00:19:59in the Eastern Conference.
00:20:00These games don't mean anything.
00:20:02They took their foot off the gas.
00:20:04Jalen Brown would say it.
00:20:05You know, we took our opponent lightly, blah, blah, blah.
00:20:08There is none of that right now.
00:20:09This is the playoffs.
00:20:11These are all supposed to be good teams,
00:20:15and the Cavs are probably one of the least talented teams left in the playoffs.
00:20:19But that doesn't mean that you can sleep on them.
00:20:21That doesn't mean that you can take it for granted
00:20:22or you can disrespect Donovan Mitchell,
00:20:24who on any given night can be the best player on the court
00:20:27and has proven that many times over.
00:20:29And he does, in my opinion,
00:20:31Donovan Mitchell has actually shown, on many occasions,
00:20:34that killer instinct, that killer mentality,
00:20:36and that ability to just sort of take over late games.
00:20:39His ability to score when he needs to, I would say,
00:20:43is up there with some of the best in the league.
00:20:46And sometimes when it comes to Tatum, we don't see that.
00:20:50Yeah, a lot of Tatum rage here on Twitter.
00:20:54And again, it's not all him.
00:20:55It was an overall very poor effort.
00:20:58It's not all him, but we're talking about him right now.
00:21:00We are because he's number one.
00:21:02I think Joe, I think the rotations,
00:21:06I think fool me once with Luke, shame on me.
00:21:11Fool me twice.
00:21:13Now, John, I will say this in Luke's defense.
00:21:17He actually did something that was surprisingly positive in this game.
00:21:23He drew fouls three and four against Evan Mobley
00:21:26and had him go to the bench.
00:21:28And I'm watching this, and I was halfway through sending you a text saying,
00:21:32what the F is Mobley doing?
00:21:35You're fouling Luke Cornett.
00:21:38Not Al Horford, not Porzingis, but Luke freaking Cornett.
00:21:43Here's the other problem, too.
00:21:45Tatum is your best player.
00:21:47We all agree with that.
00:21:48And yet in this series, at best, he's probably the third best player at best.
00:21:54Donovan Mitchell, I'd say, is the best.
00:21:55I would say Jalen Brown has been better overall in these first couple games
00:21:59than Tatum has.
00:22:00And that should never be the case when your absolute best player
00:22:05is third best in the series.
00:22:07Shouldn't happen.
00:22:08And you might be.
00:22:09I'm sorry, Daniel.
00:22:10Yeah.
00:22:11It shouldn't.
00:22:12I'd say five or six.
00:22:15Huh?
00:22:16Yeah.
00:22:17My prediction was technically five or six.
00:22:21I didn't expect them to lose the way they did.
00:22:25Yeah.
00:22:27I thought they would lose game two or three.
00:22:29I wasn't.
00:22:30Because the idea of them just sweeping them.
00:22:33Cleveland presents a different kind of champion.
00:22:36To lose by this amount, to lose in this fashion,
00:22:38to just roll over and die, Sherrod?
00:22:40I mean, it's the playoffs.
00:22:42And this is what everybody, I think the general public,
00:22:46at least going into the playoffs,
00:22:48believe the Celtics were the best team in the league.
00:22:51You can't have, you shouldn't have losses like this.
00:22:55But this brings up the PTSD of, you know, here and there.
00:22:59They just completely no show.
00:23:01At what point are they going to do that against a team that's going to snatch
00:23:06that, you know, that confidence, that momentum away from them,
00:23:09and then use it for themselves?
00:23:11At some point, you can't just roll over and die.
00:23:13The team's not going to let that happen over the course of this year.
00:23:17Yeah, that margin that you're working with to do that gets smaller
00:23:20and smaller the deeper you get into the playoffs.
00:23:22And you're right.
00:23:23I mean, I'm looking at, you know, just looking at Dallas and OKC right now.
00:23:27If they get to the finals and face either one,
00:23:29well, if they get to the finals and face OKC,
00:23:31they're not going to have that luxury to do that.
00:23:35And you start looking at the teams that they would potentially see,
00:23:38they're not going to have that luxury.
00:23:40Now, New York, as crazy as it sounds, if New York gets past Indiana,
00:23:44I think they'd have an easier time with New York
00:23:46than any other team in the playoffs,
00:23:48simply because I just don't know if New York's going to have enough bodies
00:23:50to play.
00:23:51You think the Celtics will?
00:23:52Yeah.
00:23:53New York is going to be so ridiculously battered that physically speaking,
00:23:59they literally won't have the bodies to compete.
00:24:03But they've got to get past Cleveland first.
00:24:05If New York is healthy and Boston is healthy, it's a great series.
00:24:08I think it's a seven-game series at that point.
00:24:10Me too.
00:24:11Real quick, I wanted to point out, to your point of fouling,
00:24:15getting Mobley into foul trouble,
00:24:17that would have been fine if Tristan Thompson didn't come in
00:24:20and just beat Luke's ass up off of that.
00:24:25That's when X-Men had to come in.
00:24:27Yes, seriously.
00:24:29X-Men doesn't give a shit about the Kardashians.
00:24:33He would have gone to work on Tristan Thompson.
00:24:38Co-host of How About Them Celtics, along with Jack Simone.

00:26:32I'm cool like that, sitting next to Bobby Manning.
00:26:35I'm going to tell you what Bobby told me as well,
00:26:37which you'll never believe these words came out of his mouth.

00:26:54They go down.
00:26:55They go down, maybe.
00:26:56They go down.
00:26:58So would I do.
00:27:00Do what I do.
00:27:01And they go down.

00:28:17Back to this game.
00:28:18Again, it's going to be Tatum because it's been Tatum,
00:28:21and I think it's overdue a little bit, and the debate raged on,
00:28:24and obviously you expect that from the best players.
00:28:26Really a piss-poor effort throughout here,
00:28:29and we'll get a blame pie going,
00:28:31and we'll get a sense of what we like here.
00:28:33But what happened in overall approach in your mind tonight,
00:28:37Sherrod, versus last time?
00:28:39Again, was this just too cool for school?
00:28:41We got this.
00:28:42Again, the worst thing that happens is you blow them out in game one,
00:28:45and as much as we're raging on here,
00:28:47they're going to come out and win game three by 47 points
00:28:50and be like, oh, yeah, it was fine,
00:28:52and that's honestly very possible.
00:28:54But, again, why do we have to keep saying this?
00:28:58It's the playoffs.
00:29:00You're not supposed to take days off.
00:29:02I don't understand it.
00:29:03You can play.
00:29:04You can have off days by playing poorly,
00:29:07but you're not supposed to not try.
00:29:09I don't understand why this is still a thing that everyone's, like,
00:29:12okay with.
00:29:13It's, I mean, I think it's just.
00:29:15Not everyone, but.
00:29:16Right.
00:29:17Every team, no matter how good you are,
00:29:19has some kink or flaw or thing that's just why do they do that
00:29:24or why do they act that way?
00:29:26And this is a Celtics team where they will take games.
00:29:30I wouldn't say take off.
00:29:31They take them way more lightly than they should.
00:29:33Like I said earlier,
00:29:34this felt like a December 9th game where it's just one of 82,
00:29:38and you should not be carrying yourself as a team like that.
00:29:41The Celtics, they have the talent.
00:29:43They're deep.
00:29:44They've got all those things that you ideally want to have in a championship
00:29:48caliber team, but they have these moments like this.
00:29:51And to the point that Jimmy made earlier, at some point,
00:29:54it's going to bite you in the ass.
00:29:56If you're not too careful,
00:29:57you're going to find yourself losing a game that you're going to need in
00:30:02the grand totality of that particular series.
00:30:05And you're not going to have it.
00:30:06And they really need to hopefully learn from these types of games.
00:30:11This is a second straight series where they've lost game two at home.
00:30:15And the second straight series that that team that beat them had one of the
00:30:19most amazing games they've ever had in like franchise history or players were
00:30:23having career highs left and right.
00:30:25You look at the final numbers.
00:30:26The Cavs shot better than 50% from the field.
00:30:30I think they're on the North side of 40% on three point range.
00:30:33There are plus 13 on the boards.
00:30:34They kicked your ass in every single category that mattered.
00:30:38And that should never happen.
00:30:40Should never happen.
00:30:41Yeah.
00:30:42This wasn't like, I know, I know, I know.
00:30:44Cleveland shot a good percentage from three,
00:30:46but they only attempted 20 something.
00:30:48This wasn't a high variance game where the threes killed you,
00:30:51because honestly you need volume.
00:30:53It's not just about the percentage.
00:30:54I mean,
00:30:55if you don't know this by now having watched the Celtics and I mean,
00:30:58Joe's been proven right on this.
00:31:00You got to take them.
00:31:01You got to take a bunch.
00:31:02They didn't,
00:31:03they killed them by just frigging walking right by them.
00:31:06And then the Celtics didn't challenge.
00:31:07They were just so efficient.
00:31:09So efficient.
00:31:11So they,
00:31:12they didn't challenge their threes and the Celtics play their dumb drop,
00:31:14you know,
00:31:15and everything like that.
00:31:16And yeah,
00:31:17I mean the killer,
00:31:18I've always said this and I thank you again for the contribution here.
00:31:21Crob or C Rob nine 49.
00:31:23We do appreciate it.
00:31:24I hate that.
00:31:25I hate,
00:31:26I hate the passive defense because it does breed laziness and the Celtics
00:31:30got legit.
00:31:31Blown by a ton tonight,
00:31:34a ton.
00:31:35Thank you for saying that.
00:31:36I think that was the difference.
00:31:38John is that Cleveland just attacked.
00:31:41They,
00:31:42they saw,
00:31:43they saw Celtics team that didn't want to,
00:31:45didn't want to match their intensity and they attacked him.
00:31:48And that's why obviously they,
00:31:50they didn't rely overly on the three point shot.
00:31:53And if Celtics aren't hitting them at a clip that they need to,
00:31:55the opponent can,
00:31:57can focus more on attacking inside.
00:32:00They don't have to try to match them three point for three point.
00:32:03And a lot of times you will lose that battle against the Celtics,
00:32:06but was this a night where they missed Porzingis and it was more obvious
00:32:10because of that interior presence was lacking.
00:32:12Sure.
00:32:13Jimmy,
00:32:14I'm glad you brought that up.
00:32:15Cause I I've been thinking about that the entire night and entire game
00:32:19that at some point,
00:32:20when you miss an integral part of who your team is at some point,
00:32:24it is going to bite you in the ass that you don't have them.
00:32:26Cleveland doesn't have Jared Allen.
00:32:28And so people will make that comparison,
00:32:29but here's the thing,
00:32:30Jared Allen.
00:32:31They don't,
00:32:32they would have won by 50.
00:32:33Right.
00:32:34But as important as Jared Allen is to what they do,
00:32:37they still have guys that bring them what they need in his absence.
00:32:41Like Tristan Thompson,
00:32:42for example,
00:32:43they need Jared Allen is a great offensive rebounder.
00:32:44Keep balls alive type of guy.
00:32:46That's what Tristan Thompson does,
00:32:47obviously to a lesser degree,
00:32:49but still you've got someone who does something similar to that.
00:32:52And for the Celtics not having Porzingis,
00:32:55it isn't so much what he brings as much as the impact it has on your
00:32:58rotation,
00:32:59the domino effect on the bench tonight,
00:33:01other than Peyton Pritchard,
00:33:02did anyone do anything of significance on that bitch?
00:33:05No.
00:33:06I want to talk about the bench later.
00:33:07If we can.
00:33:08Right.
00:33:09He's the only one that played with balls tonight.
00:33:10What's that?
00:33:11Yeah,
00:33:12you're right.
00:33:13You're right.
00:33:14He attacked,
00:33:15he attacked everyone else.
00:33:16Just chucked up shots,
00:33:17hoping they would go in and Pritchard.
00:33:18Jason Taylor was in a frigging layup and Pritchard's up there up,
00:33:23faking seven footers and getting them all laying at the rim and laying
00:33:27it in.
00:33:28What are we doing here?
00:33:29Yeah.
00:33:30The smallest guy is looking as if he's your biggest on the block post
00:33:34up.
00:33:35Give me a damn bucket.
00:33:36That was so,
00:33:37that should never happen to me.
00:33:38Yep.
00:33:39Yeah.
00:33:40Yeah.
00:33:41So what,
00:33:42one of the global questions we'll ask,
00:33:43you know,
00:33:44just generally is always,
00:33:45always,
00:33:46always with this team is what actually worries you.
00:33:47And most of the season,
00:33:48people are like,
00:33:49I'm not worried because regular season off nights and blah,
00:33:51blah,
00:33:52blah.
00:33:53And even I much to Jimmy's surprise and chagrin really didn't overreact

00:36:52Um, you know, got cute a little bit in that third quarter, they were down,
00:36:57tried to ride that Tatum in the bench lineup.
00:36:59It didn't kill him, but it didn't help him either in that scenario.
00:37:03And he realized, Oh, when you play Tatum for a whole third quarter.
00:37:07And the, and you go minus 12 in that quarter, that's probably bad.
00:37:11Um, and so it just didn't work.
00:37:13The combos weren't working.
00:37:14They had to do something a little bit different here.
00:37:17I think Cornette showed you everything you needed to see in the first half.
00:37:21You know, he is, he showed you everything you needed to see in the first half.
00:37:28And I don't know, I guess you had to, and I tweeted this, but this was great.
00:37:32This is what, this is what Bobby Manning said to me during the first Cornette stint.
00:37:38Um, next to Bobby, he looks over at me, gives me a little elbow and he's
00:37:42like, got to get Luke out of there.
00:37:45And I was like, you know, Bobby did not just say that and he did.
00:37:50Let's bring Bobby in right now.
00:37:56He still looks going on a little, a little of this, a little of that, a lot,
00:38:02a lot's going on.
00:38:03You were in there talking to people.
00:38:06Uh, Kes has some Joe criticism.
00:38:07I, I, I would like to hear it, uh, as well, but go ahead.
00:38:12Yeah, not much so far.
00:38:14I mean, have you guys gotten any Joe sound yet?
00:38:17He was pretty subdued, pretty conciliatory.
00:38:19I felt like, uh, after, just like it was after the heat loss, not too
00:38:24combative, not too defensive and admitted many of the areas where it went wrong.
00:38:29I think, uh, you know, I let off asking about the effort thought it was more
00:38:34executionally in the defensive issues the other way because of the offensive
00:38:38execution, which he points to a lot.
00:38:40And clearly the offense was a mess tonight, but this is another game I look
00:38:44at where you could have won this.
00:38:47If you tightened up schemed and paid attention to defense, and this just
00:38:51isn't a team that does that.
00:38:52And it's so frustrating.
00:38:54I like you shot poorly.
00:38:56You should still be in the game to fall out by 20 plus in a game like this, just
00:39:02because you paid no attention to defense.
00:39:05This is the difference between a team like this and a team like the, you know,
00:39:102022 Celtics who made the finals pretty forcefully.
00:39:13Um, and you know, they had their problems too, along the way incidentally
00:39:16had issues on offense, but they were scheming defense, they were tight on that
00:39:20end, they emphasize that end and we continue to see with this team, they give
00:39:25up shots that they want to give up.
00:39:27They play back.
00:39:28They don't force turnovers.
00:39:30And in certain spots, they have these kinds of lapses.
00:39:33It's brutal.
00:39:35And that's what we said.
00:39:36Bobby is like on the cold shooting nights, you should be able to lean on your
00:39:41defense to keep you in this game.
00:39:44You should not, and then you just chose to stop.
00:39:47It was the classic, the shots aren't falling and we just chose to stop playing.
00:39:52That's what happened in the third quarter.
00:39:54I mean, the two exchanges that kill me the most, you know, is, uh, the, the, the
00:39:59double offensive rebound situation where Tatum and Luke are just looking at each
00:40:02other and nobody freaking grabs it.
00:40:04Uh, there in the third, then you're down 12, you go out there to start the fourth
00:40:09quarter and the first play is Jalen Brown getting backdoored by Struce.
00:40:14This is not a serious team.
00:40:16If that's what you come out of the break with that, like, all right, it's only 12.
00:40:21We got a whole quarter and you just fall asleep and get backdoored
00:40:25on the first frigging play.
00:40:27That was it.
00:40:28If I was there in a paying fan, I go to, I go for the exits right then and there.
00:40:33It was over.
00:40:35They came right out of halftime too low on Mitchell, too low on Garland.
00:40:39Joe called the timeout two minutes into the third, and then they come out or
00:40:42too low on Garland again, fall down seven.
00:40:45And then, you know, they're out there complaining about and travel.
00:40:48No call while Moby's shooting a free throw jumper, you know, wide open.
00:40:52So the start of the third was a disgrace.
00:40:54You had a chance.
00:40:55They're still tied, still close.
00:40:57Uh, to, you know, go on a little bit of a run, try to build
00:41:01some momentum out of halftime.
00:41:03Yeah.
00:41:03And I thought I hated the end of the third.
00:41:06Listen, Cornette was not good tonight, but he comes out there into the third
00:41:12and forces two fouls on Mobley sends him to the bench.
00:41:17All of a sudden, Tristan Thompson gets murdered by Tristan Thompson.
00:41:21Yeah.
00:41:21So you got to take advantage of those minutes right there.
00:41:24How do you knock on a run in that situation?
00:41:28You know, you get their best defender off the floor.
00:41:29You get a guy who was killing you offensively in this one off the floor.
00:41:33It's still at that point, a pretty close game and definitely
00:41:37less than 10 at that point.
00:41:38I think right around there, baffling quarter.
00:41:43And then of course, in the fourth, you just completely combusted.
00:41:46Uh, good word.
00:41:48Inexplicable loss.
00:41:49This was one of the worst losses I've ever seen covering this team.
00:41:53Inexplicable, inexplicable.
00:41:57I mean, you're a 12 point favorite, John.
00:42:00They're missing two starters.
00:42:02You destroyed them in game one and you come out like this.
00:42:07They just.
00:42:09It was one of the ones you feared, John, the game where they come on and say,
00:42:12yeah, we just didn't have it tonight.
00:42:13And I haven't heard that yet tonight, but I'm sure we're going to, we're
00:42:17going to get the round quote where he says we, you know, we took our opponent.
00:42:22And it'll be looking over at Tatum.
00:42:24Brown and Tatum are about to talk.
00:42:26I'm sure we're going to hear right now.
00:42:30So I'm talking to you.
00:42:31Are you jumping?
00:42:33Uh, no, no, no.
00:42:36You're done with them.
00:42:37Doesn't want to see him.
00:42:39Doesn't want to be around him.
00:42:43I'm in for the ride.
00:42:45They broke Bobby.
00:42:47They broke our Bobby.
00:42:49Damn it.
00:42:50Tatum.
00:42:51Damn it.
00:42:51Jalen.
00:42:53I mean, you can lose.
00:42:55Bobby, what's the deal?
00:42:56We, we, we already talked about Tatum a lot, but I'd like to get your opinion on,
00:43:00I mean, you were kind of easy on him after game one, I wonder if, but I did
00:43:04have a fear, Jimmy, if the shooting struggles continued, would he try to
00:43:09force his way out of it?
00:43:11I feel like that's what we saw from him tonight.
00:43:13Uh, at times going down to the hill and getting to the free throw line, 11
00:43:18free throws in this one, right.
00:43:19But one in the second half, uh, seeing crowds taking difficult shots.
00:43:24John was sitting right next to me and shot after shot Tatum took.
00:43:28He just said difficult.
00:43:29That's a tough shot.
00:43:31And sometimes you hit them.
00:43:32Even a couple of the makes.
00:43:33Yeah.
00:43:33If you go shots, really?
00:43:35It's not a strong take where he's getting it all the way to the
00:43:37rack and putting it up clean.
00:43:39Everything is a spin or a clutch or they didn't take good shots tonight.
00:43:43All, all of them are hard.
00:43:45They're hard.
00:43:46Remember when we used to talk about how difficult it was for these guys to score
00:43:49like a year, like a few years ago, Bobby, it seems like blast from the
00:43:52past a little bit with Tatum.
00:43:54Like, it's just, nothing's coming easy for him right now.
00:43:59That was a question to you, Bobby.
00:44:01Nothing's coming easy for him and they're not going to allow it.
00:44:03I mean, they've said it outright, uh, throughout this series, but I don't
00:44:07mean that they should allow it.
00:44:08I mean, voicing this chat right now into, into a state of depression.
00:44:12Yeah.
00:44:13I'm not saying that they shouldn't make it easy for him, but he should be at a
00:44:17point in his career where he should be able to get his, and I understand what
00:44:22you're saying, Bobby, where he's forcing it a little bit tonight, but this was a
00:44:26night where unlike game one, when he didn't need to force it, somebody needed
00:44:31to try to get going in this game.
00:44:33So it's not that I hate, hated him for trying to get himself going.
00:44:38I would have liked to have seen it maybe in different capacities and maybe again,
00:44:41being a little bit more aggressive going into the hoop, not, not some of those
00:44:46shots that you had mentioned earlier with the turnarounds and the contested shots.
00:44:49But this is a guy that needs to put the team on his back in certain situations.
00:44:56This would have been a perfect example tonight.
00:44:58Um, I just couldn't do it.
00:44:59And that's, I think the, the growing concern is if he's capable of it.
00:45:03Yeah.
00:45:03Is this why we said, yes, this is why we said coming out of last game.
00:45:09Great.
00:45:09You do the other things.
00:45:10It was all perfectly valid.
00:45:12You know, that, that take many people had, but you rely on him for scoring,
00:45:17John, as you said, and if you're in this situation, like Jimmy just mentioned
00:45:21where you need him to score to keep you in the game and he's unable to do so.
00:45:26And he's missing shots at a high rate.
00:45:30You screwed and you end up with 94 points.
00:45:33And that's the thing is like the, the, the, the, the defense of it is odd to me.
00:45:38It's like, well, they're throwing a lot of bodies at him and he's getting doubled.
00:45:42What good player doesn't get a lot of attention.
00:45:45That's part of it.
00:45:46Like that's part of it.
00:45:49Like it's supposed, it's supposed to be hard.
00:45:52Like, what are we talking about?
00:45:54Like, is that's it?
00:45:56Well, it's, it's been hard for him and he's doing other stuff.
00:45:59Yeah.
00:46:00Sorta.
00:46:01He's doing some other stuff, but I mean, not enough of what he needs to be doing
00:46:08right now and I'm sorry, it's not enough.
00:46:10It's short.
00:46:11It doesn't mean he's awful.
00:46:15Like the worst player.
00:46:16He's not, he's just, he's supposed to be your star.
00:46:20He's gotta be able to do more.
00:46:22So it's not wrong to ask more.
00:46:24And what do they want him to do right now?
00:46:26Is it's anything he does fine.
00:46:28I don't know.
00:46:29He wants to go out there and just pass and be a diversion.
00:46:31Great.
00:46:33It's on their mind, right?
00:46:34Bobby, we said it again.
00:46:36We're sitting right next to each other in first play.
00:46:37I was like, there it is.
00:46:38They clearly ran a set and tried to get Tatum on a switch down low
00:46:44against a smaller defender and an early, easy touch near the basket.
00:46:48It resulted in two free throws.
00:46:49Great.
00:46:50Getting them an easier look.
00:46:51Still couldn't get it up and over, but he got fouled.
00:46:54Then he goes to the basket again on a pretty good take gets fouled again.
00:46:58So it's kind of a little bit of a good start.
00:47:00Then it kind of stopped being that they didn't scheme for him or game plan
00:47:05to get him touches in certain spots.
00:47:07It just kind of devolved into the whole, I trust you guys to do
00:47:10the right thing sort of thing.
00:47:12And it turned into just a bunch of chucking and that was it.
00:47:15And inefficient drives and high degree of difficulty shots, creating
00:47:19transition buckets, going the other way.
00:47:22It's a rim and that's causing that that's causing it to go the other way.
00:47:25And it's just killing them.
00:47:26It just killed them.
00:47:27Yeah.
00:47:27The fourth quarter was scary.
00:47:29The body language, how much they let the game, they let go of the rope completely.
00:47:34And the game went out of control.
00:47:36It was a 24 to nine run to start that quarter.
00:47:39And it just reminds you of some of those moments where they look helpless and
00:47:42lost and past post-season spots, uh, end of that heat series that they lost
00:47:47the end of the Warriors finals in that game six, where the Warriors just
00:47:51sprinted them off the court in the second half, that was what it looked
00:47:54like in that fourth quarter.
00:47:56And can they bounce back from that?
00:47:57Yes.
00:47:58They're still going to win this series.
00:48:00They're probably not going to lose again in this series, just
00:48:02like in game, uh, in the last series.
00:48:05But when you see stuff like this, you see what could prevent them
00:48:10from winning a championship.
00:48:12And so if they go on to win three straight here, great.
00:48:15They got the job done, but you still have this lapse.
00:48:18You still have this disconnect in a game like this.
00:48:22Uh, it's, it's just a no-show like that's all you can describe this as
00:48:27and Tatum deserves all the criticism.
00:48:29He's going to get, he's playing poorly this post season,
00:48:34but nobody, nobody showed up tonight.
00:48:38Nobody.
00:48:40Uh, I, I disagree.
00:48:41I thought Peyton Pritchard did.
00:48:42I thought he was the only one
00:48:44energy Horford hit some shots when they were shying away from them.
00:48:48So there were some performances that I guess go down as silver linings, but
00:48:52when you collectively, as a team fall out of the game to this degree, you
00:48:58didn't show up and how does that happen?
00:49:01How does that happen at home?
00:49:03How does that happen against this team?
00:49:04That's missing two guys.
00:49:06It just keeps happening over and over and over.
00:49:09Yeah, it's happened plenty.
00:49:11And this is like a new version of this team.
00:49:13It's a new coach.
00:49:14We've seen it happen under three different coaches.
00:49:18Like when this just keeps happening repeatedly, something like you you're
00:49:21allowed to lose, like to go back to the point, Joe's made a million times.
00:49:25You're not going to go 16 and all on the way to the championship.
00:49:27You get that.
00:49:29But to lose like this, this is what may gives people doubt.
00:49:36Right.
00:49:36And again, I don't, I don't think anyone is feeling as if the world
00:49:40is going to end in the South.
00:49:41There's going to go down to the calves in a series, but to your point, Bobby,
00:49:45that's, it's never been about moving from one round to the next.
00:49:48It's always been about winning a championship.
00:49:50And these are the kinds of games that plant seeds of doubt in the minds of.
00:49:55I don't think just fans.
00:49:56I think some of the players have got to be asking themselves, you know, to a man,
00:50:01are we really built to win a championship?
00:50:03Do we really want to win a championship?
00:50:05Or do we, is it something that we feel is a need or is it just
00:50:08something that we want to do?
00:50:10Uh, you have to feel as if this is a need that you got to win a championship.
00:50:16I'm not sure this team embraces this moment in this opportunity
00:50:19to the extent that you should.
00:50:22Well, do they seem to understand that it's going to be hard?
00:50:25Like there's going to be resistance.
00:50:28I don't, I don't think they just expect to go out there and see all the shots
00:50:34fall, all the calls go your way.
00:50:36The other team just completely crumble and give up after a game.
00:50:41One win runaway, win like the calves are a good team.
00:50:46Like, I know we look at them and they're hurt and they're damaged and stuff like
00:50:48that, and you should roll past them.
00:50:52And everybody was picking sleep or five Donovan Mitchell's on that other side.
00:50:57And that guy is a baller.
00:50:59You have Garland who can hit shots.
00:51:01You have Mobley who's capable and a monster defensive player of
00:51:05the year caliber guy.
00:51:07So you have, this isn't the heat series, right?
00:51:09Where they're just missing everybody.
00:51:11Like they're missing some key guys on that side, but you still
00:51:14have to take them seriously.
00:51:16This was a, this was a game where they showed up after winning by 25 and just
00:51:21thought they were going to walk through them.
00:51:24That's no other way to explain this.
00:51:26And to your point, Bobby, about Mitchell, I don't think most people realize this.
00:51:31He's actually better in a playoffs than a regular season.
00:51:34He's consistently been a better performer statistically in a post season versus
00:51:38what he did in a regular season.
00:51:39And the reason why we saw that in game two, he's a beast.
00:51:44He is, he understands what he needs to do to give his team the best shot at winning.
00:51:50And they had a game plan in Cleveland and they executed to near perfection.
00:51:54Donovan is going to have put up his numbers regardless of what you do
00:51:57defensively, but can he allow his presence to get others going?
00:52:01Can Mobley actually be that defensive two way type of guy who can not only
00:52:06dominate at the defensive end and floor, but also get points and get others
00:52:09involved, which he did a lot of in this game, Cleveland's delivered the perfect
00:52:15game to beat the Celtics and the Celtics conversely played arguably one of, if not
00:52:19the worst postseason game so far, the game plan was great.
00:52:22Sure.
00:52:22Right.
00:52:23Right.
00:52:23And you saw it right away.
00:52:24They were going to the paint.
00:52:26They shot 82 and I texted, um, you know, Jimmy and, uh, John, cause
00:52:31that shoot around this morning, a big conversation was calves shot
00:52:3382% at the rim and game one.
00:52:36And it's like, all right, you know, 82% at the rim, you didn't
00:52:39turn the ball over in game one.
00:52:41A lot of things went well for the calves in spite of losing by 25 in that game.
00:52:45So I think they highlighted areas where things worked in game one, right?
00:52:49You come out of that game, you don't overreact, you limit the turnovers again.
00:52:54You go to the paint again and again.
00:52:55And again, I think they shot 10 for 13 in the first quarter.
00:52:58They were looking for Mobley.
00:53:00They're putting the ball in his hands.
00:53:01They're saying, get comfortable, you know, get those shots up.
00:53:04If you miss them, so be it like, we want to get you involved and comfortable
00:53:08because he was a no-show in game one.
00:53:10Um, so they got him rolling early.
00:53:12He even hit a three early, which just isn't in his arsenal.
00:53:15So you knew at that point, like this guy's going to be rolling tonight
00:53:17and that got everybody going.
00:53:20It felt like, cause then the Celtics have to react a little bit.
00:53:22They're going to pick and rolls with him and he's actually a threat.
00:53:25They're finding them.
00:53:26And it was just a great game plan from Cleveland.
00:53:29And it gave them that early edge that they built on there.
00:53:31And it was just a physical, uh, aggressive, um, you know, advantage
00:53:37game plan because Celtics don't have rim protection right now.
00:53:39Cornette did a decent job in game one.
00:53:42That completely crumbled here tonight.
00:53:43You try to go to Tillman for some switching.
00:53:45He was really bad.
00:53:47Um, so your front court let you down in the first half.
00:53:51He just didn't have a good second stint.
00:53:52He was the only plus player in the lineup, but, um, they did.
00:53:55Okay.
00:53:55When that first one, uh, in relief of Lou, you went to some switch
00:53:59in there, in the, in the first half.
00:54:02There was some people, but it didn't pay off long term.
00:54:05This is the first game where you missed Porzingis.
00:54:10Yeah.
00:54:10Um, all right.
00:54:11We're going to hear from Joe.
00:54:12We're going to hear from Joe in a second.
00:54:13Um, so just, uh, stand by.
00:54:16I I'm not sure exactly what he's saying, but he's saying stuff.
00:54:19Um, we do want to let you know quickly, uh, PXG, uh, you got to check that out

00:55:34Caitlin.
00:55:37Free square.
00:55:39Oh, I would go.
00:55:39I'll go more on that.
00:55:42It's a free script.
00:55:43You don't need it, Jimmy.
00:55:44You know why?
00:55:45It's a freebie.
00:55:46You can pair it with anything.
00:55:48Okay.
00:55:48All you get is a debut game.
00:55:50Tuesday, May 14th, you get a free square.
00:55:52This is a freebie.
00:55:54Pair it with anybody.
00:55:56All she's got to do is score one point.
00:55:58This would be the Indiana fever versus Connecticut sun.
00:56:01You can add this to any, uh, anything here on more or less.
00:56:05Uh, Caitlin Clark gets more than one point.
00:56:08The square wins automatically.
00:56:10So you're already part of the way to whatever it is that you're the, you
00:56:14know, whatever it is, you're, you're, you're doing that prospect.
00:56:17You can't lose.
00:56:18I mean, you really can't lose this one.
00:56:21Uh, so again, there's a timer on this square.
00:56:23You have to add it before the timer ends.
00:56:26So check it out, but get in on the action with Caitlin Clark here.
00:56:30Caitlin Clark, Tuesday fever versus the Connecticut sun.
00:56:35Caitlin Clark shows up tonight.
00:56:37If she's, if she's in this game, Celtics Cavs, she shows up.
00:56:41I have no doubt in my mind that we're going to hear a few things.
00:56:45There's a bunch of bites here.
00:56:46I don't know.
00:56:47What's what we're going to start with Joe Missoula.
00:56:50Was this loss completely tactical?
00:56:52It was nothing mental.
00:56:53You guys didn't, it was not effort.
00:56:56A hundred percent effort.
00:56:57Like why did you guys guys lost by 28 points or whatever?
00:57:01Like what happened?
00:57:03Uh, I mean, I have to go back and watch the film, but I think when you lose a game
00:57:06like that, it could be a combination of tactics, combination of effort, combination
00:57:09of like a little bit of all those things at times.
00:57:11Uh, not to say it was one thing the entire time, but it's
00:57:14probably a combination of those.
00:57:15And you guys haven't had your ass kick like this in a long time.
00:57:19How do you guys respond in two days trying to get a reaction generally
00:57:24have not lost like this all year.
00:57:27He's trolling Joe.
00:57:28If you, the same way as you would have, when you come in tomorrow, you watch the
00:57:31film and you get better for game three.
00:57:33And what do you guys need to do to get better?
00:57:35I mean, we'll learn that when we watch the film.
00:57:39You haven't got your ass kicked like this in a while.
00:57:42I'll tell you this.
00:57:43I don't know.
00:57:43You guys really suck tonight.
00:57:45What happened?
00:57:47This might be revenge of Gary right there because Joe can't say much about tonight.
00:57:52Um, but again, I don't know how much we're putting on Joe tonight.
00:57:55I don't know.
00:57:56I don't really know.
00:57:57Um, but you didn't have any answers either.
00:57:59You just got to watch the film.
00:58:01But again, I, I, I, I am, I, I don't, I am done.
00:58:07I, I am done putting it on coaches to motivate players to play.
00:58:13Nope.
00:58:14That's on the players.
00:58:15Do you think there was a magic adjustment Joe makes tonight or a secret timeout
00:58:20that he sneaks in that, that changes the outcome of the game if they're going
00:58:24to go out and do what they did?
00:58:25Nope.
00:58:26Nope.
00:58:27Sorry.
00:58:28Sorry.
00:58:29No, no, this, this is all, this is all about the players.
00:58:32I mean, there's like, does he have, does he have answers?
00:58:36Does he know me?
00:58:38I don't know.
00:58:38We don't know, but it's yeah.
00:58:39As you said, charade players.
00:58:41Yeah.
00:58:41I mean, you, you can't, you can't, uh, tell Tatum, I need you to play harder.
00:58:47That should kind of go without saying you can't tell Jalen.
00:58:51I need you to not get your ass beat on a backdoor cut from freaking Max.
00:58:57You kind of know, you're not supposed to do that.
00:59:00In that sense though, that should be on the whiteboard.
00:59:05It is on the coach at some point to prepare his guys for what's
00:59:08going to happen on the court.
00:59:09You're right.
00:59:09I agree.
00:59:10You can't get them to fight, to be fired up.
00:59:14You know, they need to be able to do that on their own, but you can
00:59:16prepare them, Jimmy, but you can't control execution.
00:59:20Like I can tell you exactly what you're supposed to do, but if you get out on
00:59:23the floor and you don't execute what I told you to do, I can't, I can't deal with that.
00:59:28I'm pretty sure that, that Joe, uh, that Jalen Brown knew based on the
00:59:33team's X's and O's not to let Max Cruz go to the basket for easy layup
00:59:37right at the, at the, at the top of the quarter.
00:59:40Uh, and, and, and again, that's, this was a game.
00:59:42In fact, it really did feel that it was more on the players than coaches.
00:59:46I didn't think that Joe necessarily put them in bad positions to be unsuccessful.
00:59:52I thought they put themselves in bad positions to be unsuccessful, you know,
00:59:56missing wide open shot, missing shots at the rim, uh, not getting back
01:00:00defensively, falling asleep defensively.
01:00:02Those are things that have more to do with execution and execution.
01:00:05Typically is the player's job.
01:00:08That's their role.
01:00:09That's the, that's the responsibility that they have in terms of wins and losses.
01:00:13And when the execution is bad, this is what happens.
01:00:16I mean, Joe, Joe was real kind to say, I'm gonna go back and look at the film, but
01:00:21he doesn't really need to do that to know that his guys didn't execute nearly as
01:00:25well of the game plan as they talked about.
01:00:28And you know, what scares me the most is among the things that you were concerned
01:00:32with at the Celtics was you were hoping this, we didn't show up.
01:00:35We didn't play with energy.
01:00:36I didn't play enough energy tonight.
01:00:38You're hoping that's gone.
01:00:40Um, and it's not, that's, that's all concern again, but it was the, how are
01:00:46they going to play late with leads against good teams?
01:00:50Um, you know, and are they going to go into slowdown and some of their worst
01:00:53tendencies?
01:00:54Well, they're not playing good teams and you know what?
01:00:57They haven't been in a close game yet.
01:01:00Seven games in not yet to be tested in crunch time.
01:01:05And that's another one where, how's that going to go?
01:01:08I don't know.
01:01:09I don't want another unanswered question with this team right now.
01:01:12Uh, because already here it's, you know, bring the energy.
01:01:17Let's talk about Jalen Brown.
01:01:18See if he brought the energy here.
01:01:20Let's see.
01:01:20Let's hear you, Jalen.
01:01:23Um, more lack of, uh, execution or more lack of effort.
01:01:28He's so fucking cool.
01:01:30Just, uh, I think it was just a bad game.
01:01:33Um, obviously we didn't shoot the ball very well tonight.
01:01:36Um, but defensively, um, it was unacceptable performance.
01:01:39And I think that's where, you know, we look at that and I'm the most upset and
01:01:43defensively, you know, we gave up 118 points.
01:01:47And then on top of that, we lost the rebound battle.
01:01:51Um, so we didn't help ourselves tonight.
01:01:56Okay.
01:01:57Okay.
01:01:57Accountability is a start.
01:01:59It's a start, but what are you going to do about it?
01:02:03That's that, that's, that's where I'm at.
01:02:04What are you going to do about it?
01:02:05Are you going to be better?
01:02:07Yeah.
01:02:07What are you going to, what are you going to do when you go to Cleveland and at
01:02:10Cleveland team that, by the way, has yet to lose a game this postseason at home.
01:02:14Another story, another day.
01:02:15It was against Orlando, but still, um, it's not going to be easy for them.
01:02:21Let's see what Joe Swayze got to say.
01:02:23I think Joe Swayze.
01:02:24Yeah.
01:02:25It just doesn't, he's just, he's chat averse.
01:02:27Just wait.
01:02:28Won't type in the chat.
01:02:29I don't think he's got, I'm trying to get everything together over here.
01:02:33No, it's just, I'm trying to get on the podium right now, man.
01:02:37Look at the podium.
01:02:40I mean, the room was available.
01:02:42These guys spoke quickly onto the bus, onto the next one, man, Cleveland
01:02:46Cavaliers is where they had their presser here and, uh, bigger staff
01:02:50putting together the, the, the, the, the best game plan ever because
01:02:54they, these guys stuck with it, man.
01:02:55I just think this is the type of win where it's going to wake up the
01:02:59Celtics and I expected this type of reaction from the Cavaliers, but not
01:03:02like this, I didn't think it would be a 25 point loss, I didn't think it would
01:03:06be a blowout win against the Celtics, but, but here we are, man.
01:03:09I mean, you think about what they did in the first half, keeping the game
01:03:13closed and Mitchell wasn't even, he was just warming up those last, like
01:03:17five minutes of the second quarter and then goes off in the third.
01:03:21Uh, it was just a horrible third quarter for the Celtics overall.
01:03:24Not only did you allow, what was it?
01:03:25Seven, three pointers in that stretch, but you also let Mitchell
01:03:29just go wild, go crazy.
01:03:30And that carried over into the fourth quarter, but the Celtics got to wake up,
01:03:33man, I agree with Jalen who just spoke not too long ago, when it comes down
01:03:37to rebounding, you know, when it comes down to the defending, like that,
01:03:41that's just effort here, you know, like I remember two plays, two specific
01:03:46plays where it felt like it's, I literally watched Derek White just
01:03:49like walk away from Darius Garland as he drained another three pointer.
01:03:52I'm like, that's the type of stuff, like that's effort, you know?
01:03:55And it's, it's those types of plays, those types of lazy, uh, possessions,
01:03:59defensive possessions that pile up and all of a sudden you're down by five,
01:04:06you're down by seven, you're down by 15.
01:04:08I mean, it happened in a hurry, but that's how good these guys are.
01:04:10And I remember before the series even started, when we were talking about
01:04:14which team do you want to see the Celtics face, either the Cavs or Orlando Magic.
01:04:17And Sherrod's like, well, the Cavs have someone that can go out there and
01:04:20beat you in one of those, in one of these games.
01:04:24And you can say that in this one, I was going to say, you can say that someone
01:04:29in this one, but it wasn't just Donovan.
01:04:32Exactly.
01:04:32It was Levert.
01:04:33It was, uh, five other guys that scored in double figures.
01:04:37Mobley, man, game of his career, career high.
01:04:41Like that's the type of stuff that like, that's inspired basketball here for
01:04:44a team that had to play game one, two days after game seven, you know,
01:04:49had to go back to Cleveland with somewhat of a, uh, a feeling that, Hey, we,
01:04:55we can still compete in this series.
01:04:56And that's exactly what they got.
01:04:57If you're a bigger staff, man, you're, you're nothing but
01:04:59smiles going back to Cleveland.
01:05:00You, you did what you were supposed to do here.
01:05:02You took one, but just, but just what, I think the one thing you said that I
01:05:06think is going to prove itself to be true in game three is that you still
01:05:11Celtics not have a wake up call.
01:05:12And I hate the fact that they have to get their asses kicked for them to wake up and
01:05:16start playing the way they are capable of.
01:05:20Um, but we've seen this before.
01:05:21We've seen it during a regular season.
01:05:23We saw it during the playoffs when they lost to Miami.
01:05:25They were a very different team after that.
01:05:27Uh, they were not perfect.
01:05:29They still made their share of mistakes, but there was a consistent effort, a
01:05:33consistent attention to detail that they played with going forward.
01:05:37And that's why that series was a wrap after they lost that one game.
01:05:40I suspect something similar is going to happen with Cleveland.
01:05:43Uh, but the biggest thing, Joseph, I'm just curious your take that anyone else
01:05:48talk about the effort issue, because it seems like that of all the effort and
01:05:52execution seemed to be the two things that they were missing more than
01:05:55anything else in this game.
01:05:57Um, Jalen, a little bit again, if for him, it was more about the defense and the
01:06:02rebounding, but I, I, I, I think the two things go hand in hand, but flat out
01:06:06calling the team or calling themselves out on the effort.
01:06:09No, no, I didn't.
01:06:10I didn't see that.
01:06:11Um, especially not from Joe Missoula, um, you know, Brown.
01:06:16Yeah.
01:06:16But Brown was talking more about rebounding and yeah, I guess he threw an effort as
01:06:19well, but I just feel like it's a lot of, it's a lot of things that they already
01:06:24know because they've done this before, you know, and if this is the way
01:06:26go call they need and they go in and win, you know, uh, three more to, to, to
01:06:32finish off the series that they did against the Miami heat, then we're going
01:06:34to say, oh, well, there we go.
01:06:36We were worried about nothing, but these are concerns for any series, you know,
01:06:40moving forward, moving ahead.
01:06:41And, and the Southerners have to convince us that they, they, they got this out of
01:06:44their system for good.
01:06:45And I don't know, we'll, we'll see.
01:06:46I I'm not concerned.
01:06:48I think they'll bounce back in this series.
01:06:49I think they bounced back in game three for sure, but I don't want to see this
01:06:53type of effort again, especially in the playoffs.
01:06:56It's the thing about this game, guys, it didn't feel like a playoff game.
01:06:59It didn't feel like a playoff effort for Boston, you know, but like you can have
01:07:03these ass efforts against Miami and Cleveland and bounce back and still
01:07:07probably win and not be worried.
01:07:09Eventually that's doesn't work anymore.
01:07:12Like you can't do that because you could, you'll play teams where you
01:07:15might lose with good efforts.
01:07:17So you can't throw ones away.
01:07:19That's the point.
01:07:21It's insane to think that this is sustainable in a, in a, in a
01:07:25series with a good team, not showing up once or twice in a series is the series.
01:07:31That's it.
01:07:32So yeah, they have margin for error right now.
01:07:34Cause it's Cleveland and Miami and they're, they're better than them.
01:07:38It's how far does this go?
01:07:39Like how far can you keep doing this?
01:07:43Yeah, man, it's, it's, it's, it's one of those things where I feel like again,
01:07:47even if you, even if you go out and win the rest of these games in the series,
01:07:51you what's going to look, what are they going to look like against the Knicks?
01:07:53You know, I just think the Celtics have to put out a convincing effort on both
01:07:58ends of the floor, but it really starts on the defensive end, like this type of
01:08:01stuff and giving up these, like these amount of points and I get it.
01:08:04Three of these guys had, had career highs, you know, playoff career highs,
01:08:07you know, for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
01:08:09But overall, again, I don't see that sense of, Hey, like, let's go
01:08:13out there and send a message, you know?
01:08:15And it's, it's, it's unfortunate that it always takes these type of losses
01:08:18for us to get that version of the Celtics that I'm sure we're going
01:08:20to see in game three at Cleveland.
01:08:24Dude, I was just watching Donovan Mitchell's highlights from tonight, man.
01:08:29That buzzer that he had at the end of the third quarter, he shook Tatum and
01:08:33he just hit over Tatum, just hit that three to just, that was the momentum
01:08:37that they, that, that took them into that fourth quarter.
01:08:39And it almost felt like after that shot, I don't know if it was Tatum or just
01:08:44the team in general, they just like hung their heads after that.
01:08:47I mean, that's just not the mentality that you have to have in the playoffs
01:08:51and Donovan Mitchell, Donovan Mitchell had 23 of his, of its
01:08:54points tonight in that second half.
01:08:56There was nobody on that Celtics team that came even remotely close
01:09:00to matching what Donovan Mitchell gave the Cavs tonight.
01:09:03And yeah, his, his total stats are fine.
01:09:0529 points.
01:09:05And I think he had seven and six, but he's a good example of a guy who has taken
01:09:11the burden on and carried that burden to get his Cavs team to where they are right
01:09:16now, you know, one, one series, second round of the playoffs, where again, you
01:09:21talk about banged up teams.
01:09:22Sure.
01:09:23You were talking about the Knicks being banged up.
01:09:24The Heat are banged up.
01:09:25Cavs are banged up too.
01:09:27And he's just doing it.
01:09:29And by the way, their talent level is not nowhere near where the Celtics can be.
01:09:33And he's just able to just understand the moment and do what it takes.
01:09:37I'm not saying that he's, he's going to win every game from this point on and
01:09:41just put the team on his back forever.
01:09:42But on night like tonight, 13 and a half point underdogs tied at halftime.
01:09:48I don't know what went on in the Celtics locker room at halftime, but whatever
01:09:50went on in the Cavs locker room, Donovan Mitchell took to heart.
01:09:53And he just, again, this is what fans want Tatum to do.
01:09:59They want Tatum to be the guy to come out in the second half and
01:10:01drop 23 points and shake the opponent at the buzzer.
01:10:06Tatum won't even take a shot at the buzzer unless it's a clean look.
01:10:10He doesn't want anything to affect that field goal percentage.
01:10:13His field goal percentage?
01:10:14Yeah. Yeah, so.
01:10:15It happened again tonight?
01:10:17I know.
01:10:17I mean, well.
01:10:18Different, different wavelengths right now, man.
01:10:20I don't know what's going on.
01:10:21Well, well, what Donovan did was, was special because he got these guys
01:10:25motivated in that first half by just getting everyone involved, getting everyone
01:10:28on the same page to, to go into that second half and then go into killer mode,
01:10:33which I, I honestly saw coming.
01:10:35I mean, you, you, you got the sense that he wasn't being as aggressive
01:10:37offensively, but he was finding guys down low.
01:10:39I mean, these guys really attacked the paint against those Celtics, you know,
01:10:42without Chris Daz Porzingis, a couple of up fakes, Luke Cornego's flying.
01:10:47I mean, like I, I tweeted out by that first quarter.
01:10:49I was like, I guess the cast figured out Luke.
01:10:52And what I meant by that is I just feel like without Porzingis,
01:10:54you can throw other bodies in there in the middle, but it's got to be a group
01:10:58effort in a sense of just stopping the lane when, when, when, when guys are
01:11:02just continuously attacking and it wasn't just Mitchell, obviously in that second
01:11:06half, it was, it happened all over throughout the first, you know, even with
01:11:09their bigs and their, in their front court scoring that they just didn't have at all
01:11:13in the in, in game one, all of a sudden they came alive in the paint, you know?
01:11:17So yeah, the three-pointers crushed the Celtics in that third quarter, but
01:11:22a lot of those points for the Cleveland came from, from inside the paint, you know?
01:11:26And yeah, they didn't have the, the, the game.
01:11:28There was, there wasn't a huge gap at halftime and it was just enough for, for
01:11:32Donovan Mitchell to go off the way he did and as well as other guys on the Cavs.
01:11:38Yeah, but this is a one-off guys though.
01:11:41That's the question.
01:11:42Can Cleveland do this again?
01:11:43I don't know.
01:11:44It's always, I don't know.
01:11:45118?
01:11:46I didn't think they could score 118 in this game, in this series.
01:11:50Well, the Celtics gave up.
01:11:51So, I mean, the fact that-
01:11:52From statistician Dick Leip.
01:11:55First time they scored more than 107.
01:11:59This is the first time since May 31st-
01:12:01Yeah.
01:12:02Cleveland has scored more than 107 points in a playoff game.
01:12:05That and I think-
01:12:05This is their first road, this is their first playoff win on the road since
01:12:09LeBron was on the team.
01:12:09124-114, despite 51 from LeBron.
01:12:14Yeah, again, how much of it is the Cavs' offense?
01:12:16How much of it was the fact that the Celtics just decided not to play defense
01:12:20in that fourth quarter, really?
01:12:23Really embarrassing type of performance.
01:12:26The politically correct answer would be a little bit of both, but
01:12:29the reality is, it was the Celtics taking the night off defensively.
01:12:32But Cleveland has just-
01:12:33Yeah.
01:12:34Go ahead, John.
01:12:35It felt like the second night of a back-to-back where they're like,
01:12:38if the shots go down great, fine, we'll do it, and then we're done.
01:12:43I'm hungry for some plain pie.
01:12:44Do we have it or no?
01:12:47Yeah, we got it.
01:12:47That was it.
01:12:48Yeah, hell yeah.
01:12:48And Luke's on there.
01:12:50Is that Bob Kraft?
01:12:52Bob Kraft?
01:12:53What, is he at the game tonight?
01:12:56Yeah.
01:12:58All right, then.
01:12:59You can't get mad at me for putting on bolster on the plain pie.
01:13:04I didn't authorize this, but let's go for it.
01:13:06Go, give me your slices.
01:13:09All right, who wants to go first?
01:13:11I'll go first.
01:13:12Tatum, 80%.
01:13:14Jalen-
01:13:14That's a big piece.
01:13:16That's a big ass piece.
01:13:17Jalen, I'll give you five.
01:13:19Drew, two or three.
01:13:21Let's go three.
01:13:21That gives me an 88.
01:13:23Joe, I give 1%.
01:13:24That gives me an 89.
01:13:27Luke, I'm gonna give you 9%, and Kraft just two, just for being there.
01:13:34Kraft, yeah.
01:13:35Yeah, I'm assuming it's just the fact that he was there, and
01:13:38the Patriots are horrible.
01:13:40And so maybe his presence is infecting them.
01:13:43I don't know, something like that.
01:13:45I'm gonna go 70 for Tatum, 20 for Drew, 10 for Missoula.
01:13:53He has to take, Missoula has to take some blame here, but
01:13:56I don't think it's a Missoula loss.
01:13:58I mean, Drew Holiday, I'm a huge Drew Holiday guy, have been since they got him.
01:14:04We're giving a lot of criticism to Tatum tonight.
01:14:08I think we gotta give some criticism to Drew Holiday a little bit, too.
01:14:11I mean- He buys crap in there.
01:14:12Offensively, has not been giving them- But you have those games, Jimmy,
01:14:15where Tatum and Brown get into this mode, like they were in tonight.
01:14:21It almost, it takes a lot of other people out of the game a little bit, too.
01:14:24And I think that that's- I know, but defensively, what did Holiday do for you?
01:14:28I mean, Max Strewson's running around, doing whatever the hell he wants.
01:14:33Mitchell's obviously having a hell of a second half, so
01:14:35if Holiday is your stopper, we're talking about the fact that
01:14:38Cleveland just scored 118 points, I gotta give some blame to Holiday, too.
01:14:42You've heard about the offense on the defensive side, and
01:14:45I understand that there's five players out there, he can't stop all five.
01:14:49But Holiday has had some games recently where I felt like
01:14:54he's been a little quiet, he just signed himself a massive deal.
01:14:58How's that gonna look in a couple years?
01:15:00I guess we'll find out.
01:15:01It's not looking good right now.
01:15:02Yeah, it's not looking great right now.
01:15:04So he has to take a little, he's gotta take a bite of the pie tonight.
01:15:08That's, I'm dishing out pies, and he's taking a big piece.
01:15:12Not as big a piece as Tatum.
01:15:14Tatum gets the brunt of it, but Drew's not walking out of here unscathed.
01:15:18I'm closer to Blorp's pie in this sense, because I think Brown got a pass for
01:15:25being so good in game one, but Tatum and
01:15:30Brown both didn't play with the right amount of it.
01:15:36They both didn't play with enough energy.
01:15:38Tatum's getting the bigger slice because I'm tired of this shit,
01:15:42because it's been happening.
01:15:43Yeah, I'm gonna give him to Brown, I mean, he's sucked tonight, too, over 63.
01:15:48I also kinda like that, which is like, I'll give a little bit there to Brown.
01:15:53I don't know what you're blaming Joe for, other than just being Joe.
01:15:56That's it, yeah.
01:15:58If that's your thing, and you think Joe, I think some people just know.
01:16:03Joe automatically, like SATs, you get X amount of points for signing your name.
01:16:07Any loss, Joe gets automatically a minimum of 120% of the pie.
01:16:10Coach John, that's not true, it's the way they lost.
01:16:13But every time, because you're just always, Joe has a set slice he gets every day.
01:16:17If you're getting blown out, the head coach is taking a slice.
01:16:21I don't care if it's a sliver, the Celtics should not be getting blown out.
01:16:25And if they are, I'm gonna look at the head coach for at least a part of that blame.
01:16:29If they lost at the buzzer, if it was a hard fought game and they just lost,
01:16:32I'm not giving Joe any of the blame.
01:16:34I'm gonna give Tatum a lot of it.
01:16:35I would like to maybe, I could cut Joe's piece a little bit, and
01:16:39maybe give Brown a little bit of it, or maybe cut a little bit of Holladay's.
01:16:43But you're right, Brown had such a good game one.
01:16:47I'm probably being a little too nice to him in game two, but he sucked tonight,
01:16:50too, he needed the 0 for 6 from three.
01:16:53He was like a minus 20 something, just like the rest of them.
01:16:55And so, I mean, everybody can have a slice.
01:16:58I'm gonna leave Luke out of this one, just because I don't feel like he's
01:17:02important enough to get a slice.
01:17:04Yeah, exactly.
01:17:06Luke never gets blamed, because Luke can only be Luke.
01:17:10So I don't-
01:17:11Nah, this is a series though, John.
01:17:13This is a Luke series.
01:17:14What happened?
01:17:14But he's the key.
01:17:18He's the key.
01:17:19This is why Luke's game tonight is why I don't do apology cams.
01:17:23Do you understand?
01:17:25I'm always gonna give Bob Graft a little blame.
01:17:28It's not like Luke proved us wrong.
01:17:30Right, apology cam wouldn't have aged well, yeah.
01:17:33He's Luke.
01:17:35Right. Okay.
01:17:36We did, that means that we did do an apology cam.
01:17:38Guys, did you do it any differently here?
01:17:40Heavy Tatum, Heavy Brown, or all Tatum for you?
01:17:44Yeah, Heavy Tatum, Heavy Brown.
01:17:46A little Drew in there.
01:17:47Thank you.
01:17:50Just to, I mean, he's the anchor of that back court.
01:17:53I'm not tossing to Tristan Thompson's sound, I refuse.
01:17:56Go ahead, guys. Sorry.
01:17:57I would actually like to hear from him.
01:17:59I want to hear from Tristan Thompson.
01:18:00Fine, fine. Give it to me.
01:18:01Fine. Go, Joe Swayze. Sorry.
01:18:03I can't stand that guy.
01:18:06Okay, so I'll give 10% to Joe.
01:18:09I'll do 10% to Drew.
01:18:14So 40-40 for Tatum and Brown, for the Jays.
01:18:19Equal?
01:18:20Damn. Okay.
01:18:22I mean, Tatum should get more,
01:18:23but because of what happened in game one,
01:18:25but these guys, they're the leaders, man.
01:18:27Like, I just think this is one of those games
01:18:28where one didn't play particularly better than the other.
01:18:31They're kind of just evened out.
01:18:33I mean, I guess you can cut some slack
01:18:34for what happened in game one,
01:18:35but nah, man, these guys are the leaders.
01:18:38They can't put forth that type of effort
01:18:41in the second half.
01:18:42And I'm happy to see Jalen take a lot of accountability
01:18:45in his post-game comments,
01:18:46but we gotta see a change here, man.
01:18:49These guys have to lead the way here in game three.
01:18:51Is Tatum speaking? Did he speak yet?
01:18:53Did he say anything?
01:18:54Tatum is a no-show, much like the game, on the podium.
01:18:56He's still on his phone or something.
01:18:58I don't think he's, yeah, he's not up there yet.
01:18:59Is Tatum going to speak?
01:19:01He's supposed to speak.
01:19:02Yeah, Brown spoke already, like, 20 minutes ago.
01:19:06So Tatum is intentionally drawing himself.
01:19:09We can't say much more than we've already said.
01:19:11Game three is Saturday.
01:19:14It's in Cleveland.
01:19:15Celtics, once again, piss away home court advantage.
01:19:17And yeah, I'm mad enough to play a Tristan Thompson,
01:19:21but so I will.
01:19:22I was going to say, if Am is bringing it up,
01:19:24he might've said something.
01:19:24Here it is.
01:19:25Jalen, Jason.
01:19:26I feel like Gabler provides some insight.
01:19:27No, it's just Bobby's obsession.
01:19:28Just being around them and having spent that time with them.
01:19:31Could be that, too.
01:19:32Yeah, no, I've definitely built a relationship with JB
01:19:34and Jason and Peyton and all the guys
01:19:37that were left here on that roster.
01:19:39A few of them, but we know they're going to come out
01:19:41and respond.
01:19:43I know those two, they're going to be in the gym,
01:19:45probably first two guys in the gym tomorrow,
01:19:48getting extra shots up and probably watching a lot of film
01:19:51because they know that Celtics aren't going as far as them.
01:19:55So I know they're going to have extra motivation,
01:19:57especially being on the road.
01:19:58So we've got to be prepared for that.
01:19:59What a fraud.
01:20:00I swear.
01:20:01This guy is a huge fraud.
01:20:03Am is going to talk to you right now
01:20:05because he's telling me on top of this,
01:20:07we also have an Okoro bite and I'm going to lose my shit.
01:20:10I'm not doing this again.
01:20:13The game of his life.
01:20:14What the hell is wrong with you?
01:20:16He made every shot he took.
01:20:17What are you guys doing out there?
01:20:18All in.
01:20:19We literally said, get out of the Cavs locker room.
01:20:22Nobody gives a shit.
01:20:23Tristan Thompson.
01:20:25Yeah, they offered up Ivan Mobley.
01:20:26You guys just said no.
01:20:27I don't want to hear from Tristan Thompson ever again.
01:20:29Oh, my God, they've got Yang.
01:20:31No, he's messing with me.
01:20:32OK, Jesus Christ.
01:20:34All right. I can't do this anymore.
01:20:36I don't think you guys want us to do this anymore.
01:20:38So we're going to wrap because we've said all we're going to say
01:20:41and it's not going to get more interesting.
01:20:42It's not going to make you feel better.
01:20:43It's not going to make you feel worse.
01:20:46Who knows what happens Saturday?
01:20:47Well, it's a whole new game.
01:20:49So this probably went by a hundred and it will be in here saying it's over
01:20:53like idiots because we're free to have the hard hat back.
01:20:56Jimmy puts a stupid hard hat on.
01:20:59And there we go.
01:21:00That's stupid.
01:21:01And by the way, we're finalizing the merch, Jimmy.
01:21:05We're finalizing the design for hard hats are going to be ordered,
01:21:08I think maybe this weekend and they're going to be for sale next week.
01:21:12There's going to be a limited supply of hard hats, folks.
01:21:14We're not going to be running a hundred hard hats out there.
01:21:16So once they go for sale, they're going to go quick.
01:21:20That's all I have to say.
01:21:21Yeah, we got T-shirts.
01:21:23We've got jackets. You got hats.
01:21:24The T-shirts are on order as well.
01:21:26Garden Report T-shirts are still available.
01:21:28Phenomenals have been ordered.
01:21:31We got a couple other designs that we're working on.
01:21:32So, you know, just check out the merch store.
01:21:35Some things coming up here.
01:21:36The hard hats are going to be hot, hot, hot.
01:21:40And I'm sorry I called the hard hat stupid.
01:21:42I am. Yeah. Thank you.
01:21:44It was it was it was done out of what the hell it was done out of anger.
01:21:49I lashed out. I didn't mean it.
01:21:51Anyway, we are done. Thank you to Sherrod.
01:21:53Thank you. Oh, they are stupid.
01:21:55Josue and Bobby, they're stupid.
01:21:59Stupid, stupid.
01:22:00The the the garden crew after Tatum talks
01:22:05are going to go up there and do their thing
01:22:07as well. So you'll hear from Josue and Bobby after the game.
01:22:11Until then, we are going to wrap it up.

01:22:16You can also go check out First to the Floor.

01:22:49I'll be there. It's going to be fun.
01:22:51Jimmy, show us at it.
01:22:56Wait, Ahmed's got an outro for us, I think.
01:22:58No, he doesn't.
01:22:59You said he was going to work on an outro.
01:23:02He had a phenomenal game.
01:23:04Phenomenal game.
01:23:07Forfeit's out. I think it's an option.
01:23:12That did not sound like a chair.
01:23:14It was a freaking chair. It does sound like a chair.
