00:00 Good morning from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
00:03 This is our update on the weather that is being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
00:09 In the past few hours, there were two landfalls, this is Baguio Aghon.
00:14 The first landfall is here in the island of Homonhon, Migiwan, Eastern Samar, next to 1120 PM.
00:23 After passing through this area, there was a second landfall in Geporlos, Eastern Samar, at 1240 AM.
00:38 Our latest location was at 4 AM, the last landfall of Baguio Aghon, in the coastal waters of Catbalogan City, Samar.
00:48 This is still a tropical depression with strong winds that are close to the middle, reaching 55 km/h and a high of 90 km/h.
00:59 This movement continues northwestward at a speed of 30 km/h.
01:05 This is our latest forecast track for Baguio Aghon.
01:10 After two landfalls of Aghon in some areas of Eastern Samar,
01:15 it is now being affected by the strong winds of Eastern Visayas.
01:21 For the next 24 hours, we expect the effects to continue in the Eastern Visayas area.
01:26 After that, it will be released to the Samar Sea, where it is possible for landfalls to occur again,
01:34 particularly in some areas of Bicol Peninsula.
01:38 After Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region is the area that will be affected by Baguio Aghon.
01:44 Within that 24-hour period, it will affect a large part of the Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region area,
01:50 and it will be released to the coastal waters of Bicol Peninsula.
01:54 For the next 24 hours, tomorrow, Sunday,
01:58 the center of Baguio Aghon will be in the coastal waters of Jomalig, Quezon.
02:04 It is possible that it will be stronger in the Tropical Storm category.
02:09 While the Philippine Sea is being affected, it will continue to move northward and northeastward.
02:16 This is what we call a "recurvature period" where Baguio Aghon will move away from our country.
02:23 24 hours after that, it is possible that the center of Baguio Aghon is 140 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.
02:32 While the Philippine Sea is being affected,
02:36 it is possible that it will be stronger and intensify into a severe Tropical Storm category.
02:41 So 24 hours after that, or 72 hours from now,
02:45 early Tuesday, May 28, the center of Baguio Aghon will be here,
02:51 at 325 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.
02:55 This morning, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been elevated in some parts of Luzon.
03:02 Here in the northern portion of Aurora, Polilu Islands, in the southern portion of Quezon,
03:09 and also in the eastern portion of Romblon, and in Camarines Provinces, in Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.
03:16 We also have Signal No. 1 elevated here in the area of Catanduanes, in the Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate,
03:23 and also in the Burias and Icao Islands, in the northern part of Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, in the Island of Biliran, Leyte,
03:32 Southern Leyte, and the extreme northern portion of Cebu, and also in the area of Dinagat Islands.
03:39 Compared to the areas where we have a high wind signal,
03:43 we should be prepared for strong winds brought by Tropical Storm Aghon.
03:48 And the highest possible wind signal that we can issue for this storm is Wind Signal No. 2.
03:55 For the rains brought by Tropical Storm Aghon, we expect that these areas,
04:02 we can see in this table, these areas will be the most affected by strong rains of Tropical Storm Aghon.
04:10 So we can experience heavy to intense rains in a large portion of Cabiculan and Eastern Visayas,
04:16 particularly in the areas of Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, and Leyte.
04:26 So today, we expect heavy to intense rains in the mentioned areas.
04:31 Moderate to heavy rains are what we can experience in the area of Romblon, Southern Leyte,
04:36 Southern portion of Quezon, some parts of Cabiculan, and the northern portions of Western Visayas and Cebu.
04:45 And starting tomorrow, the areas that will experience heavy to intense rains will be gradually reduced.
04:50 So heavy to intense rains in the areas of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes,
04:55 moderate to heavy rains will still be present in some areas of Eastern Visayas and Southern Luzon,
05:00 particularly in Northern Samar, Polilio Islands, some parts of Cabiculan, and the southern portion of Quezon.
05:08 And starting tomorrow, a large portion of Luzon, particularly Central and Southern Luzon,
05:14 including Metro Manila, Bongo, Visayas, and Mindanao, will experience heavy to intense rains,
05:20 with high chances of flooding, landslides, and landslides,
05:24 similar to the trough or extension of the Agjon Tsunami.
05:28 So in the mentioned areas, let's continue to be alert and alert to the threats of sudden floods or landslides,
05:36 especially if the rains we will experience are continuous.
05:40 And as of 5 a.m. today, we still do not have high gale warnings for any flood-affected areas.
05:46 But our fellow countrymen will still be careful because today,
05:51 we are still increasing the frequency of the floods up to the high seas,
05:54 in the seaboards of Bicol Region, southern seaboard of Quezon,
05:58 eastern seaboard of Eastern Visayas, western seaboard of Samar and Northern Samar,
06:03 and the eastern seaboard of Caraga Region.
06:07 And I will repeat, this is our track scenario for the Agjon Tsunami.
06:12 So after two landfalls earlier this morning and last night,
06:16 we expect that this will continue to sweep the area of Eastern Visayas,
06:20 and within the next hours, this will be directed to the Bicol Region,
06:26 so we will continue with the possible landfall scenario in the mentioned areas.
06:29 And Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region will be affected for the next 24 hours,
06:34 and it will emerge or will emerge in the north of Camarines Provinces tomorrow morning.
06:42 So during this period, while this area is being swept,
06:45 it is possible that this will intensify in the Bicol Storm Category.
06:50 And starting tomorrow afternoon, the recurvature period of the Agjon will start,
06:54 it will move generally northward then northeastward,
06:58 it will start moving away from our country.
07:02 And this movement will continue generally northeastward,
07:05 it will move towards the northern boundary of our Philippine Area of Responsibility,
07:10 and it is possible that the Typhoon Category will emerge by that time.
07:14 So our par-exit or the possible sweep of our Area of Responsibility
07:20 is between the period of late Tuesday to early Wednesday.
07:26 And for more information about the weather,
07:29 especially on our rainfall advisories or heavy rainfall warnings,
07:33 on the possible issue of our Pag-asa Regional Centers in our localities,
07:37 follow us on our social media accounts @DOST_PAGASA.
07:42 The next update or the Tropical Cyclone Bulletin that will be issued for this storm
07:47 will be later at 8 in the morning.
07:50 And that's all the latest from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
07:54 Good morning to all of us. I am Dano Williamil, reporting for ULAD.
