00:00 Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05 Rain is moving in from the west through today. The winds also will be picking up some strength.
00:10 Drier skies across Scotland, mid-wales towards England through the morning,
00:15 before this wet weather slowly approaches these parts through the afternoon.
00:19 The winds will pick up some strength as well, gales towards the south-west,
00:23 as low pressure sits across the UK through Friday, as well as the weekend,
00:28 delivering cloud, rain, showers and some windy conditions from time to time.
00:33 So let's have a look at this morning. Well, it's a fine morning, a bit chilly across Scotland,
00:37 with some sunshine, still a few showers for Shetland.
00:40 That brighter and drier weather extends down across much of England, mid-wales,
00:45 eastern parts of Wales, but towards the west the rain has already arrived across Northern Ireland.
00:50 The winds have been picking up some strength and slowly this wet weather is nudging on Gwynedd,
00:55 as well as Pembrokeshire, Cornwall and Devon. So through the morning you'll see that rain.
01:00 Further east, the winds are fairly light, it's fairly pleasant outside,
01:04 and that sun will really get to work through the morning.
01:07 However, the sunshine will be replaced by cloud and then eventually rain through today.
01:12 So the rain through the morning will bring some wet and windy conditions to Northern Ireland,
01:17 eventually the Isle of Man, west Wales by around mid-morning, the west country seeing that wet weather.
01:22 Now through lunchtime you can see the rain extending towards the south-west of Scotland,
01:27 the north-west of England, covering much of Wales, and we'll see some come in across the west midlands.
01:32 Hanging on to some brighter weather across the north-east of Scotland,
01:36 and drier conditions across east Anglia, home counties towards the south-east,
01:40 where we'll see temperatures reach around 18 degrees Celsius, 15 or 16 under the rain band,
01:45 and that rain could be heavy at times.
01:47 Now through this evening we continue to see strong winds towards the west, even some gales.
01:51 Elsewhere that rain continues its passage towards the far north of Scotland,
01:56 extending down towards the south-east where you'll see some patchy rain.
01:59 One or two heavier pulses embedded within the rain band,
02:02 and winds will pick up towards the north-east of Scotland later.
02:05 Showery bursts will follow into the early hours of Friday morning,
02:09 and temperatures not as low as they have been, so a relatively mild start to the day, 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
02:16 Now Friday is looking showery.
02:18 We hang on to that wet, persistent weather towards the far north of Scotland with strong winds.
02:23 Elsewhere showers will turn heavy with the risk of thunder,
02:27 and they may merge together to form a longer spell of rain,
02:30 as temperatures rise to around 16 to 19 degrees Celsius.
02:34 Not feeling too bad in the sunshine, and we'll see a lot of showers into the weekend.
02:38 See you later.
