00:00It's time for the show where your imagination fills in the blanks.
00:05It's Mad Libs.
00:07And now, here's your host, David Sedoni.
00:12Look at him.
00:14Woo!
00:17How's it going, everybody? Welcome to Mad Libs, the greatest word game in the entire world.
00:23A Mad Lib is a story that's got a few words missing,
00:26and it's up to you to fill in the blanks with your own creative and fun and unusual words.
00:31What we do here, we bring out two teams.
00:33We have them run around and compete in a series of mental and physical games.
00:37Those games are going to take the Mad Lib, lift it off the paper, and bring it to life right here on this stage.
00:43Are you ready to go? I'm ready to go.
00:46Let's bring out the teams. Come on!
00:52Come on down here, Dave.
00:53Come on over here, you silly guys.
00:56What are you guys doing, clowning around?
00:58All right, let's find out who our teams are today.
01:02Start over here with the red team. John, how are you doing, buddy?
01:05I'm great.
01:06Good. Tell me about yourself. Do you have any special talents, anything you can do?
01:09Oh, well, I just like do weird things, like I carve things out of breakfast when I get bored.
01:15What kind of things do you carve?
01:17Oh, I carve shoes, faces, hands, whatever.
01:22Wow, you should be a surgeon, dude. That's pretty good.
01:25Now we're going to meet your teammate. You have Ashley. How are you doing, Ashley?
01:27Great.
01:28What's your favorite activities in the whole world, like at school, after school, anything?
01:32Well, I'm in show choir and drill team, and I'm captain.
01:35Captain of the drill team. Which one do you like better, show choir or drill team, or is it a toss-up?
01:39Toss-up.
01:40Toss-up. All right. That's the red team. Let's meet their opponents over here.
01:43We have the blue team. Blue team. All right, Latoya, how are you?
01:46Fine.
01:47Tell me about yourself. What do you like to do after school?
01:48I'm a cheerleader.
01:49Really?
01:50Yes.
01:51Where?
01:52In Florida.
01:53In Florida. Do you live there?
01:54Yes.
01:55Oh, cool. Your nose is falling off, Latoya. Come on.
01:57All cheerleaders have good big noses. All right.
02:01Good to meet you. Let's meet your teammate over here, Nate. Nate, how are you doing, pal?
02:05I'm doing good.
02:06Tell me about you. What kind of music do you like?
02:08Rock.
02:09Yeah? Do you play any instruments?
02:10Yeah, I play bass.
02:11In a band?
02:12Yeah.
02:13What's the name of your band?
02:14Underage.
02:15Cool name. All right.
02:16Yeah.
02:17There's our team. Give it up for them. Let's get ready to go.
02:19Now, hang on to your hats because we're going to be putting dynamite in the dictionary today
02:22as we take these two teams as they compete to try and earn points to move on to the maximum Mad Lib.
02:27That gives them a chance to win a CD shopping spree.
02:32How cool is that?
02:35Going out and getting a bunch of CDs. That'd be fun.
02:38Now, what we like to do to kick things off is we let some viewers at home get involved in our game.
02:43How do we do that? Well, we ask them to give us a Mad Lib.
02:46So check out our viewer Mad Lib.
02:50Hi, my name is Heather and I'm 14. I go to Hermosa Valley School and my Mad Lib is at the circus.
02:57We went to the greatest show on spaghetti and watched clowns jump out of teeny donuts.
03:04We saw daring performers walking along a high cafeteria and tigers jump through rings of pencils.
03:15Good luck on the game.
03:17All right.
03:20Well, now what we like to do is we take Heather's Mad Lib and we make these guys run around at the circus.
03:25Turn it into a game. You ready to go?
03:27Yeah.
03:28Come on, guys. Over here.
03:31What we do is, guys, you go upstairs, get in the cafeteria. Girls, you wait here.
03:36Go up there, John, Nate.
03:38First up, we've got our tiger balloons.
03:42What do you think? We're going to use real tigers? No, they're just balloons.
03:45Actually, just for demonstration, we're using a leopard balloon because we don't want to hurt any tigers.
03:49Now, you come over here past the spaghetti and over here to the ring of pencils like our viewer Heather said.
03:56Now, the girls have to throw the tiger balloons up to their teammates like this.
04:00But you've got to be careful. You don't want to get it stuck on the pencils.
04:04Otherwise, you get tiger stuff everywhere.
04:07The team that gets the most tiger balloons up in 45 seconds, they're our winner and they get the 20 points.
04:12All right, teams, let's get ready to go.
04:14In position. Girls right there. Guys up top.
04:18On your mark.
04:20Get set.
04:22Go!
04:27Oh!
04:33Got to get those tiger balloons a little higher.
04:36Oh!
04:37Blue team had one and they just couldn't finish the catch.
04:46Here comes the red team.
04:47There's a good one. That's one for the blue team.
04:49They take an early lead.
04:53Ashley is hitting another pencil there.
04:56Got to be careful of those pencils.
04:58They've got sharp points.
05:06That's it. That's it. We're out of time.
05:10We're out of time.
05:12Come up here, girls. Let's take a look at the scoreboard.
05:14Well, at the end of that one, girls, you did a nice job there.
05:18Some good throwing here. You want to clean off. You're a little messy.
05:20Ashley, you're a little messier.
05:22We ended up doing great. Red team, Ashley, you had a tough time.
05:24You almost got some.
05:26John kept wimping out so he couldn't make a catch, but it was close.
05:29So you ended up getting none for the red team.
05:31But the blue team, they got one.
05:33They got one. That means they're the winners of our first round.
05:37So the blue team gets the first 20 points of the day.
05:40Red team, no points yet, but we're going to give you a chance
05:42as we get moving and grooving over to Matter Than You.
05:45Come on, everybody. Guys, come down. Girls, follow me.
05:55Come on up here, girls. Come on in.
05:57Come here, let's go. Come here, Ashley. Take off your glasses.
05:59Take off your clown noses.
06:01As much as I'd love to see you play this game and that, I'm not allowed to.
06:03Nate, come over here.
06:05All right, we're going to find out which team is madder than the other one
06:07as we play Matter Than You.
06:09You guys know to be a serious Mad Lib player,
06:11you have to have a seriously big vocabulary.
06:13The more words that you know,
06:15the more options you have to fill in all your blanks.
06:17Here's how this game works.
06:19I read you guys a category.
06:21Now you have to rack your brains, try and come up with as many words as you can
06:24that fit right into that category.
06:26And while you're doing that, you have to pass this hot potato,
06:28once you spit a word out, over to the other team.
06:30Then the other team spits a word out that fits in the category,
06:33and they send it back to you.
06:35We keep doing that until one team runs out of words.
06:37When that happens, category's over, the other team gets five points.
06:41Remember, you cannot repeat another player's answer
06:44or a different form of the same word.
06:47All right, guys, we ready to go?
06:49Girls, let's get you in position.
06:51We're going to put two minutes up on the clock.
06:53You have two minutes to buzz through as many as you can.
06:56Here comes your first category.

07:09I don't think they're going to give you VCR.
07:11You plugged most of those in.
07:12So that's five points for the blue team.
07:14Moving on, guys, in next category.

08:55Next category is words that start with S-T.
09:00Go.
09:01Steak.
09:02That's it.
09:03We're out of time.
09:04Come on in, guys.
09:05That's it.
09:06Categories are over there.

09:10Nice job.
09:11Ten points for the red team.
09:12They're doing good.
09:13Blue team's keeping the lead, though, with 45 points.
09:15Big score.
09:16Don't worry about it, though, red team, because next up we're going to be going on to our

09:44Red team has ten points.
09:45Blue team in the lead with 45 points.
09:47Great game going on.
09:49And now it's time to move on to the mega stunt.
09:51Well, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Mad Libs Airlines.
09:53In this game, our players are going to be fastened back to back to our airline seats.
09:58Now, this is a Mad Lib airline, so it's a little different.
10:01You have to cruise over here, Fred Flintstone style, in your airline seats to the word drop mechanisms.
10:07Then you have to pop them using your porcupine.
10:10Ouch!
10:11Who bears a strange resemblance to Cousin It.
10:13After you pop it, you grab the word and you come over here back towards the exits, please,
10:18to the block exit, into the cockpit area.
10:22Then you take the words over here and stick them in the Mad Lib wall.
10:26The first team to get all four words in the Mad Lib wall is our winner.
10:29We put their words in the Mad Lib and they get the 20 points.
10:33And please, ladies and gentlemen, we know that you have a choice in game shows
10:36and we appreciate you choosing Mad Libs.
10:38All right, let's get ready to go.
10:39Players in positions.
10:41In positions.
10:44On your marks.
10:46Get set.
10:48Go!
10:51All right, blue team's going first.
10:54Now they've got to get their words.
10:57There you go.
10:58They've got to go back through the cockpit area.
11:01And it looks like they got their liquid.
11:05And the blue team got their plural now.
11:08Now they've got to come back over here.
11:13They've got to get back into the cockpit area.
11:17Looking good.
11:18Looking close.
11:20Plural noun.
11:22And a verb for the blue team.
11:28Got to search for the word once you pop it.
11:33Ashley's got some quick moves there to get them back.
11:36It's a race for the last word.
11:41They've got to make sure they're right under it.
11:43Here they go.
11:44They're cruising through the cockpit area.
11:48That's it.
11:49Red team got it.
11:52Great job, red team.
11:53Come right here, guys.
11:54Let's take a look.
11:55Way to go, guys.
11:56Here, look, you've got some airline stuff all over you.
11:58Nice job, everyone.
11:59Let's take a look at your words.
12:00We'll start up here with your plural noun.
12:02It's toenails.
12:03Then we've got giggling, pizzas, and mail.
12:08Nice job.
12:09We're going to take these words and put them in the Mad Lib.
12:11Come on over here, guys.
12:13Let's see the Mad Lib.
12:17It's called Art Imitates Life, complete with your words that you earned.
12:22In art class, we study the toenails of artists from the giggling era.
12:27We learn how to make sculptures out of pizzas.
12:30I once made a sculpture that looked like mail.
12:33All right, good job, guys.
12:35Way to go.
12:36Those are your words in the Mad Lib.
12:37You finished that one for us.
12:38Of course, you get the 20 points, which means you're catching up, Red Team.
12:41Now we've got to find ourselves a winner.
12:43Blue Team, come on over here.
12:45Let's mix it up at Mixed Up Mad Lib.
12:47Come on, everybody.
12:54All right, now that we have our landing gear down after our airplane game,
12:57it's time to take a look at the scores.
12:59Red Team is catching up, 30 for the Red Team.
13:02Blue Team is still hanging on with 45.
13:07Now, though, it's time to find ourselves a winner in Mixed Up Mad Lib.
13:11A Mixed Up Mad Lib is a sentence that already has a crazy word inserted,
13:15and it's up to you to buzz in and give me the correct answer.
13:18Now, each one, you guys, is going to be worth 10 points, okay?
13:21When you buzz in, you're going to get 10 points if you get the right answer,
13:24so that means, Red Team, a couple questions, you guys are in the lead, okay?
13:29You guys ready to go?
13:30Yeah.

15:54Me.
15:55Ashley's going to give the clues.
15:56All right, Ashley, you have an important job then.
15:58I give you the five words to fill in the blanks,
16:00and you get to choose which one of the clue areas you want to put each word into.
16:04So you take that, run up to the clue area, start thinking about it.
16:08John, you stay here with me, and you guys don't go anywhere either,
16:11because when we come back, we're watching them go for the grand prize
16:14of the Maximal Mad Lib.
16:16Welcome back to Mad Libs.
16:35We're hanging out and getting jiggy with it.
16:37It's time to build our Maximal Mad Lib of the day.
16:39During the break, Ashley did the very important job of putting her words
16:43in the different clue areas, and now they're set to play.
16:45Here's how the Max works.
16:47The Maximal Mad Lib has five blanks.
16:49Ashley's going to give the clues.
16:51Down to John, who's chilling down there.
16:53Now, the clues are going to come from five different areas.
16:56They are like this.
16:57Stuff it.
16:58You grab four marshmallows, stuff them in your mouth, and try and say the word.
17:02This one is spell it.
17:04Grab the ketchup, ketchup, and mustard.
17:07Spell the word on this piece of glass right here.
17:09Then you come to draw it.
17:11You got to stick your fingers into the finger paint
17:13and draw something that looks like the word.
17:16This is act it, where you can only use your acting skills and no talking,
17:20just pantomime style.
17:22And then, finally, there's sing it, where you have to sing a description,
17:28but you cannot sing the word.
17:30Got it?
17:31Good.
17:32John, each time you get it right, we're going to put it in the Mad Lib wall.
17:34Come over here, buddy.
17:36Now, you know you guys want to get as many words as you can, right?
17:39If you get all five, you're an instant winner.
17:41But anything under that, you still have a good chance
17:43because the grand prize is hidden beneath just one of those words.
17:46So you want to get as many as possible.
17:48We're going to get one minute and 30 seconds to go through the whole thing.
17:51Are you ready, Ashley?
17:52Yeah.
17:53Ready, John?
17:54Yeah.
17:55Let's do it.
17:56Go for it, red team.
