00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
00:18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy
00:23Spirit be with you all.
00:26Brothers and sisters, as we now gather around the Eucharistic altar of the Lord, we pray
00:33for ourselves and for our intentions, but I also invite you today to pray in a special
00:38way for our Aboriginal, the Yotasan Pastoral Council, you know, a gathering of our indigenous
00:46lay leaders, our religious and our clergy, that's why I'm wearing red today because I'm
00:53offering this Mass, of course, to the honor of the Holy Spirit and to ask for the help
00:57of the Holy Spirit for this gathering so that all of those who are present may truly be
01:02open to what the Lord is saying and be able to listen to each other and to help one another
01:08in assisting the faith journey of our indigenous communities.
01:14Dear brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate
01:19the sacred mysteries.
01:25You were sent to heal the contrite of heart, Lord have mercy.
01:29You came to call sinners, Christ have mercy.
01:34You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us, Lord have mercy.
01:40May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
01:47Let us pray.
01:53O God, whose Son promised to all those gathered in his name that he would be there in their
02:00midst.
02:01Grant, we pray, that we may be aware of his presence among us and in truth and charity
02:07experience in our hearts an abundance of grace, mercy, and peace through our Lord Jesus Christ,
02:14your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever
02:19and ever.
02:24A reading from the second book of the Kings Jehoiakim was 18 years old when he came to
02:31the throne and he reigned for three months in Jerusalem.
02:35His mother's name was Nehushtah, daughter of Elnathan from Jerusalem.
02:40He did what is displeasing to the Lord, just as his father had done.
02:47At that time the troops of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, marched on Jerusalem, and
02:51the city was besieged.
02:53Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon himself, came to attack the city while his troops were besieging
02:59it.
03:00Then Jehoiakim, king of Judah, surrendered to the king of Babylon, he, his mother, his
03:06officers, his nobles, and his eunuchs, and the king of Babylon took them prisoner.
03:12This was in the eighth year of King Nebuchadnezzar.
03:19The latter carried off all the treasures of the temple of the Lord and the treasures of
03:24the royal palace and broke up all the golden furnishings that Solomon, king of Israel,
03:29had made for the sanctuary of the Lord, as the Lord had foretold.
03:34He carried off all Jerusalem into exile, all the nobles and all the notables, ten thousand
03:41of these were exiled, with all the blacksmiths and metal workers.
03:46Only the poorest people in the country were left behind.
03:51He deported Jehoiakim to Babylon as also the king's mother, his eunuchs, and the nobility
03:56of the country.
03:58He made them all leave Jerusalem for exile in Babylon.
04:02All the men of distinction, seven thousand of them, the blacksmiths and metal workers,
04:06one thousand of them, all of them men capable of bearing arms, were led into exile in Babylon
04:12with the king of Babylon.
04:15The king of Babylon made Martaniah, Jehoiakim's uncle, king in succession to him, and changed
04:22his name to Zedekiah, the word of the Lord.
04:29For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
04:33For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
04:35O God, the nations have invaded your land, they have profaned your holy temple, they
04:41have made Jerusalem a heap of ruins, they have handed over the bodies of your servants
04:47as food to feed the birds of heaven, and the flesh of your faithful to the beasts of the
04:51earth.
04:53For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
04:56They have poured out blood like water in Jerusalem, pleading no one to bury the dead.
05:02We have become the taunt of our neighbors, the mockery and scorn of those who surround
05:07us.
05:08How long, O Lord, will you be angry forever?
05:11How long will your anger burn like fire?
05:14For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
05:18Do not hold the guilt of our fathers against us, let your compassion hasten to meet us,
05:23for we are in the depths of distress.
05:26For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
05:29O God, our Savior, come to our help, come for the sake of the glory of your name.
05:34O Lord, our God, forgive us our sins, rescue us for the sake of your name.
05:39For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
05:43Alleluia, alleluia, all who love me will keep my words, and my Father will love them, and
05:50we will come to them.
05:52Alleluia.
05:53The Lord be with you.
05:58A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
06:06Jesus said to his disciples, It is not those who say to me, Lord, Lord, who will enter
06:12the kingdom of heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven.
06:18When the day comes, many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name?
06:24Cast out demons in your name, work many miracles in your name.
06:29Then I shall tell them to their faces, I have never known you.
06:33Away from me, you evil men.
06:37Therefore everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible
06:42man who built his house on rock.
06:46Rain came, floods rose, gales blew, and hurled themselves against that house, and it did
06:52not fall.
06:54It was founded on rock.
06:57But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like
07:01a stupid man who built his house on sand.
07:05Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew, and struck that house, and it fell.
07:11And what a fall it had!
07:15Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on
07:20the people, because he taught them with authority, and not like their own scribes.
07:27The Gospel of the Lord.
07:46Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received
07:50the bread we offer you.
07:51Food of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life.
08:16Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received
08:21the wine we offer you.
08:23Fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become for us our spiritual drink.
08:45Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty
08:57Father.
08:58Look with gracious favor, O Lord, we pray, on the offerings of your servants, that they
09:08may truly understand and proclaim with confidence what is right and wholesome in your sight
09:14through Christ our Lord.
09:21The Lord be with you.
09:23Lift up your hearts.
09:26Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
09:30It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give
09:35you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God.
09:39For you bestow gifts suited to every season, and guide the governing of your church in
09:46wonderful ways.
09:47By the power of the Holy Spirit, you come unfailingly to her aid, so that with a heart
09:53always subject to you, she may never fail to seek your help in time of trouble, nor
09:58cease to give you thanks in time of joy through Christ our Lord.
10:02And so, in company with the choirs of angels, we praise you, and with joy we proclaim.
10:10Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna
10:15in the highest.
10:16Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
10:28You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
10:31Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your spirits upon them like
10:36the dewfall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
10:42At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving
10:48thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying,
10:52Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for
11:01you.
