00:00Oh, there it is. Now, we are sitting around the office today.
00:04And Kang just made the comment, and this is an early call, man.
00:08This is an early call. Saucy.
00:12Is it? I think it is.
00:13I think it's really early for you to make this call. Oh, boy.
00:18Pistons won the lottery a couple of years ago.
00:20Right. They got Kate Cunningham. Mm hmm.
00:24And he's been a good player.
00:27The next year, it's Victor Webanyama.
00:35Or two years ago, it was Victor Webanyama,
00:36who has been looking like he could be a real game changer.
00:41This past year, it was Zachary Risseche.
00:46Probably not anywhere close to the Victor Webanyama impact.
00:51Kang thinks the next Webanyama is in the pipeline.
00:55In the pipeline or in the in the draft next year?
00:57In the draft next year.
01:00Well, there's a lot of a lot of talk.
01:02I think you know who I'm pointing at then, Gator.
01:04You are all in on Cooper Flagg. There it is.
01:09Absolutely. I want to be a full staff on Flagg. Yes.
01:15Get that on a shirt.
01:16Um, yeah.
01:18You know, if I had my way, the Pistons would get a lot better
01:22and win over 28 games, still miss the playoffs
01:26and land the number one pick in Cooper Flagg.
01:29That's how you jumpstart this franchise.
01:31Well, I mean, it happened with the Hawks.
01:33They got they had like the worst chance of getting the number one pick
01:35and they didn't get Cooper Flagg, but they did win the lottery.
01:38You want Cooper Flagg the same way the people wanted Victor Webanyama?
01:42Pretty much.
01:43I think it's such an early call and you are basing this on.
01:48On everything.
01:49I mean, he's just I mean, right now, lately, the OK, recency bias right now,
01:53he is working out against or was working out against the team USA.
01:57That's right. That's what I'm looking for against men.
02:00Yes. Against LeBron, spin the ball on their fingers.
02:03And some of them can actually.
02:04But but most of them.
02:06Yeah. But he's out there with the USA select team, you know,
02:10running scrimmages and practices against our men's team right now.
02:13And he's holding his own.
02:14And yes, I know it's practice and I know it's scrimmage.
02:17But this kid has been doing this since, you know,
02:20early days in elementary school to middle school to high school.
02:23He's going to Duke.
02:24By all means, if everything goes right, he doesn't get hurt.
02:27Knock on wood.
02:28He's going to declare for the draft as soon as it's over or the season's over.
02:31And he's going to be the number one overall pick.
02:33And I think this guy's got the ability to he's like the new age
02:37basketball player, you know, that big, tall, lengthy guy
02:40that can score from anywhere, shoot from anywhere defensively.
02:44I think he's got the effort and the work ethic to get there
02:48because that's a hard that's mainly what it takes for defense,
02:51at least just to want to do it.
02:52But I think this guy could change a franchise.
02:54I just love it.
02:55And you are based mostly on this practice film that you've watched.
03:00And although he's a number one recruit in the country, rave reviews.
03:04I mean, that's just King watching it.
03:05I mean, everybody who's covering these practices is saying this kid looks amazing.
03:09He fits right in and he's going to be the number one pick.
03:13Yeah, it's it's saucy.
03:15And the problem is you cannot build a strategy
03:20around the lottery, around winning the lottery.
03:23You can't build a solid.
03:24That's why I get out of debt, Doug.
03:26I win the lottery.
03:26Yeah. Yeah. How's that?
03:28How's that going for you?
03:30But there are there are different.
03:34Seasons and you think this season it's as important
03:37to get the number one pick as it was with Webinar.
03:39Yes, you're right.
03:40There are I'm not going to say that we're generational, but I think he is very
03:44it's really you're really close to saying that.
03:46But yeah, there are years you kind of mentioned it.
03:49Like there are years when you really want to win the lottery.
03:51You know, this is one of those years, like even the kid year.
03:55I'm not sure everyone really wanted to win it,
03:57although I think it was the consensus.
03:58Number one, it wasn't like they're thinking LeBron or women, Yama.
04:01I think Cooper Flagg is in that that talk now.
04:04He's not there with LeBron and Wemby necessarily,
04:06but I think he's right on the cusp.
04:08He's that good or going to be that good.
04:11It's like the Zion year, you think?
04:13Where everyone knows it's going to be him.
04:15I think everyone knows it's going to be Cooper Flagg.
04:17Yeah, I'm kind of.
04:20Yeah. You know where you want to win it and you know who you're taking.
04:24Both guys going to Duke to or went to Duke.
04:26But I mean, Gator, get on board with me, man.
04:30I'm I'm fine. I'll ride with you.
04:32I'm good with this.
04:33Look, I think that the obviously the easiest way
04:36that you can get superstar players is through the draft.
04:39It's the easiest way to do it. They have no choice.
04:41Yeah, yeah, exactly.
04:43I mean, if they're staring in the face and you make the pick, right?
04:46It's it's so hard for a team like the Pistons
04:49to try to lure a free agents, a free agent to come here.
04:52It's a superstar because those guys want to go somewhere.
04:54They're going to win. We just saw it.
04:55Yeah. And and it's just difficult.
04:58It's the other way to get it is to trade.
05:00See the draft for one or you trade for one.
05:03And, you know, it's it's hard to trade for him as well.
05:07I mean, you got to have kid.
05:08They got to make it work.
05:09You got cap space to finagle and players and picks going either way.
05:13And, you know, it's tough to make it work.
05:15And again, teams aren't going to ship off a player.
05:18There's no nobody gets traded to Siberia anymore.
05:20That doesn't happen.
05:21Like you're accommodating the player.
05:24By making a trade, and I don't think there are many people
05:26that are clamoring to go to Detroit.
05:28Not right now because they're not winning.
05:30So, again, easiest way to do it, the best way and not the best way,
05:34but the easiest way to do it is through the draft.
05:36So if the Pistons get the number one pick.
05:39I'm with Kay, I'll take him. Let's go.
05:41Yeah, I think for flag, I'm calling it now.
05:43Oh, I like that.
05:45Sag for flag.
05:46Better than the full Stafford flag.
05:48Full Stafford flag works, too.
05:50But I mean, but you want the team to sag.
05:51So they have the best opportunity to get that pick.
05:53And yet I don't.
05:54I just want to get the first pick.
05:55Hopefully they can win, win more games than last year.
05:58Like twice as many as they did last year.
06:01I don't don't expect this to be a playoff team, but they're probably
06:03one of the five worst teams in the league again.
06:06But if they're not, then that's a pleasant surprise.
06:09That it's as simple as getting a coach and general manager
06:12in here that know what they're doing
06:14to assemble the right players around the core group.
06:18And they're going to take their time.
06:19It's the other thing we take out of it is that
06:22JB Bickerstaff is going to take his time to figure out what they have
06:26with the players that are on the roster currently, because everybody's going,
06:28well, what do you do with Dern and Ivy?
06:30Can Ivan Cade coexist and all this?
06:33Well, let the new coach work with him and see what happens.
06:35Let the new coaches work
06:38with with Jade and Ivy in his shooting.
06:40All right, I'm going to do what we do here.
