Matthew Chapter 2 describes the visit of the Magi, who follow a star to worship the newborn Jesus in Bethlehem and offer gifts. King Herod, feeling threatened, orders the massacre of all boys in Bethlehem aged two and under. Joseph, warned in a dream, escapes with Mary and Jesus to Egypt. After Herod's death, they return and settle in Nazareth, fulfilling the prophecy that Jesus would be called a Nazarene.
