Matthew Chapter 13 consists primarily of Jesus teaching in parables. He shares the Parable of the Sower, explaining the different responses to the word of the kingdom. Jesus also tells the Parables of the Weeds, the Mustard Seed, the Yeast, the Hidden Treasure, the Pearl, and the Net, illustrating various aspects of the kingdom of heaven. The chapter includes an explanation of why Jesus uses parables and the meaning of some of the parables. Finally, Jesus returns to His hometown of Nazareth, where He faces skepticism and unbelief from the locals.
