  • last month
Matthew Chapter 14 begins with the account of John the Baptist’s execution by Herod. Following John's death, Jesus withdraws to a secluded place, but large crowds follow Him. Jesus has compassion on the crowd and performs the miracle of feeding over five thousand people with five loaves and two fish. Later, Jesus walks on water to reach His disciples’ boat during a storm, and Peter briefly walks on the water before becoming afraid and starting to sink. Jesus rescues Peter and calms the storm. The chapter concludes with Jesus healing many people who touch the fringe of His cloak after they reach Gennesaret.
