The 2024 MLB All-Star Game has come and gone, and both Mike and Reg were at Globe Life Field yesterday to witness the spectacle. They recap the in-stadium experience, what it was like hearing Corey Seager almost hit a go-ahead home run, and what could be improved for future Midsummer Classics.

00:00I mean, Mike, this All-Star game gave us pretty much most of the things you can imagine and
00:20hope for from an All-Star game with Shohei Ohtani and just the crack of the bat.
00:24You can hear that.
00:25It's always fun hearing that.
00:26You've got, eventually, you still got the Paul Skeens matchup with Aaron Judge.
00:32It went by quickly, but thankfully, it seems like almost Skeens decided, I'm going to walk
00:36Soto to make sure I get this judge thing and give the people what they want.
00:39That was awesome that that happened.
00:42I was going to mention the Paul Skeens thing in stadium, because I'm sure 90% of the people
00:47listening right now watched it on television, or you didn't watch it at all, which is fine.
00:52But if you're at the game, Skeens wasn't really hitting 100 miles an hour, but then when I
00:56saw the highlights, the gun on television had him throwing 100 more.
01:01Does that make sense?
01:02Yeah.
01:03I don't know if you're looking at the radar gun in the stadium, but in stadium, he was
01:09throwing more like 98-ish, 97 at times.
01:12I think he touched, I don't know if he even touched 100 maybe one time on our board.
01:17He threw, I think, 15-ish or 16 pitches in the game.
01:21But then when I went back and I turned on MLB Network last night and I saw a couple
01:25of the pitches he threw, I was like, oh, he was touching triple digits on television
01:29radar gun.
01:30Interesting.
01:31Okay.
01:32So I guess they're using a different gun in that way.
01:33Which was awesome.
01:34I was so pumped to see Skeens.
01:35I know it's weird.
01:36I just remember hearing about him transferring from Air Force to LSU and just hearing unbelievable
01:43things about him in non-conference games.
01:46So early in the college season and last year in March, I took my two kids down to A&M to
01:56see A&M LSU because I heard of Dylan Cruz, who's second overall pick, and Paul Skeens
01:59who ended up being first overall pick.
02:01And I remember watching him and Chad Allen's a former guy at Duncanville, played in the
02:05majors and I was like, Chad, this dude's unbelievable.
02:11The best college pitcher I've ever seen.
02:13And it's not close.
02:14Now, I didn't see Steven Strasburg or let's say Mark Pryor, for instance.
02:20So it was crazy.
02:21I'm sitting there with my son going, Reggie.
02:24I cannot believe that that guy that I saw, that I was like, this is unbelievable in March
02:29at College Station, that he started the All-Star game the next year and was by far the show.
02:37That was the thing.
02:40That he goes from LSU to starting in the All-Star game and hopefully he can continue it.
02:45I know that if Spencer Strider were to get healthy, he's pretty spectacular too, but
02:50Paul Skeens has a lot more behind him.
