06:46If Jaylon wants to take offense to anybody or anything, these things happen.
06:50And now what he can do is hold his world championship ring and go from there in this $300 million
06:57contract and say, so what?
06:59So what?
07:00I didn't get invited to the Olympics and look what I've accomplished?
07:04Yeah, he's going to take it out on the floor for sure, man.
07:06He actually pulled up to Summer League the other night, Celtics versus Lakers.
07:11the rivalry in, in, in, in summer league form with, with
07:15Brawny James and yeah, it went well for Boston. He built
07:20another house out there, a bricks. What'd he do? Yeah, he
07:24did. He did. He did. Yo, this man's 0 for 12 from three right
07:28now, Max. 0 for 12. Uh big deal or no big deal. We're not doing
07:33that segment but just, just, just on that alone. Big deal or
07:36no big deal. What do you, what do you say? Big deal. Uh you
07:39know, not in the fact that he, he, he has a contract and a
07:42guaranteed contract that most players don't have. Three-year
07:45deal. Three-year deal and, and that is strictly about his dad.
07:50It's nobody else. I mean, we, that's not sugar coated. It's
07:54about LeBron James, one of his son on that team and he had the
07:58power to pull the strings and make it happen. We wouldn't be
08:01talking about Brawny James if in fact, he was any other player.
08:05We wouldn't even be talking about him in, in that vein but
08:08because he's the, the son of one of the greatest players that
08:11ever to play the game. It's a, it's all, it's fair now and
08:16LeBron opened it up by saying, look, I want to play with my
08:18son and where did they leave the Lakers? Play, pick number
08:23fifty-what? Four. Fifty-five. Fifty-five, yeah. And the
08:27Suffolk's pick before them. Where have the Suffolks had
08:29taken? They should have, Max. You were, you were hated that
08:33idea. They should have. You wanted it. I know. Danny would
08:37have done that **** You know, you don't want, you don't want
08:40that smoke. Why? Danny Ainge would have wanted that smoke.
08:42He would have spent a late second round going. Why do you
08:44need, why do you need that to come to you? If you're the
08:48bosses, why do you need the drama? If in fact, you're
08:50already the world champions. I mean, you just want, just what
08:53you just want to be messy. That's just, that'd just be
08:56messy. You don't need. I'm choosing, I'm choosing violence.
08:58What does, what does Brawny James do for your team but
09:01become messy? Oh, no, no. I'm not talking about Brawny. I'm
09:03talking about assets, Max. Hey, Lakers, you, you, you, you
09:07afraid you're going to lose his day? Well, well, what do you,
09:09what do you want from him? What do you want from Brawny? That's
09:11not an asset. You know, you, you, you know what? God don't
09:16like ugly. He ain't fond of pretty but he sure won't like
09:19ugly. So, the Boston Suffolks did what they need to do. They
09:22took a quality player. Hey, Watson. Somebody that, you
09:26know, could help them out. And LeBron, Brawny James can't help
09:29them. He couldn't help him out. I don't think he helped the
09:32Lakers out. Now, I can be wrong and I hope, matter of fact, I
09:35hope that I'm wrong. I hope that Brawny is able to play but man,
09:39that's a tough road to hoe when you play, when your father's
09:42one of the best players ever to play the game. I can't help but
09:45think about what Gary said when we had him on, right? Like,
09:48stunting his growth. Like, you're not, you're not doing
09:50Brawny any favors here, Max. It's not like this is going to
09:54expedite the process. Like, that doesn't, it doesn't work like
09:56that, right, Max? Like, another year in college doesn't, you
10:00know what I mean? You can't make up for that experience with a
10:03year in the G League or a year at the end of the battle.
10:05Whatever, whatever this, whatever plays out for Brawny
10:07this upcoming NBA. NBA in the NBA, it's like this. Either you
10:13have it or you don't. You just don't develop overnight in the
10:17NBA. Right. Your tools have to be there. Is he an exceptional
10:21shooter? Well, by 0 for 12, that means no. Is he exceptional
10:25defender? He's six, he's six, one and a half. The guards in
10:30the NBA are six, four, six, five now. So, what does he bring to
10:35the table that you can't get right now from essentially
10:40anybody in the G League? So, but but God bless him. The fact
10:44that it it happened, I think it's monumental and it happened
10:48but what I see is a train wreck. Hope it's not but I see a
10:54train wreck. Yeah, man. You might be right, Max. You might
10:59be right. I mean, I I again, I I think he he's like any other
11:02late second rounder. He's gotta find his way but there's all
11:05this pressure and this hype and this, you know, uh attention,
11:10it's not gonna help him, man, especially in the early go.
11:13He's gotta find his own way. He's gotta find a way to drown
11:16out the noise because I think it's affected him. You know,
11:18you can't. How can it not? You can't be unnoticed in the
11:21assembly. If your name is is Bronnie James and you're
11:26playing against the against the Celtics. Yeah. How'd that how'd
11:30that look? You you watch the game cuz that's that's your
11:33thing. You will look at the train wreck. I in fact, I will
11:36turn away. I don't even wanna sit. I didn't wanna know what
11:39happened. I didn't wanna know what happened until you
11:42actually saw it. That's I'm I'm good. I'm good with this. I
11:48don't need to know about Bronnie James who I I feel is
11:52not gonna be one of these guys who's gonna destroy people.
11:55Well, you know who's balling out in that game, man? Nemus
11:58Kata, man. He flirted around with a double double 22 points,
12:01eight rebounds. I know he's at the end of the bench last year
12:03but the the new deal he signed, you know, along with a bunch of
12:08a handful of other players that signed as is pretty much has
12:11got the Celtics roster ready to compete for the next two, three
12:14seasons. How you how you feeling about that, man? And
12:16of course, Jalen's a big part of that as well with his with
12:18I mean, excuse me, Tatum is a big part of that as well with
12:21his max deal, the richest in NBA history. Well, what you
12:23did, you you solidified your team. You got all your your
12:27your ducks in a row and you're unlike some of the teams who
12:31have just recently won it. People talked about what Denver
12:35did, what Denver can repeat because Joker is the best
12:38player. Joker's a hell of a player and Murray was a hell of
12:42a player but the guys that they had coming off the bench, they
12:46Yeah. I mean, you, Jeff, you said, laughed. Oh, Jeff Green
12:49wasn't this. Jeff Green was solid for them. Bruce Brown.
12:52They haven't replaced him, Max. They haven't replaced either
12:55of those guys. They were good. And you couldn't, you, you
12:58couldn't replace him. You look at their bench strength. It
13:00wasn't there. When they played in the playoffs, when Joker
13:03went out of the game, they had nothing else. Right. So,
13:07they're gonna have to go out and try to do what they did but
13:13the Celtics, how many players are coming back? Al's coming
13:16back. You know, who who's who's the ape guy? Who else?
13:20Pritchett's gonna be back. Pritchett's gonna be back. White
13:23got a new deal. It was like, oh, I mean, it's like, it's like,
13:27you know, just when they said, bring the band back, bring the
13:30band back together. Well, the the band is coming back and
13:34will they be tougher because the and I think they will
13:37because they're a younger team. Then, we're, again, we're
13:39talking about health. You gotta be healthy, obviously. Right.
13:42We'll see how long Porzingis is out. You know, will they do
13:46Porzingis like Al and just try to baby him those second nights
13:49of back to back? Now, how valuable is Al Horford? All of
13:53a sudden become. This episode of the Cedric Maxwell Podcast

15:22easy. Yeah, I mean he proved it during the postseason. I mean
15:26he's he's ready to take on that role as the starter. You know
15:30before Porzingis comes back, whether it's Christmas,
15:32whatever the timeline may be. However, another year, you know
15:36I love that Brad Stevenson looked at the rest of his
15:40centers and say, okay, I gotta choose one of these guys. No,
15:42he signed both of them. Luke Cornette's coming back. You
15:46know, you got, you know, Cade is back. Like I just met, you
15:51know, like that's a motivation factor for him because it's
15:53like, okay, we can relax. I got my security here. I got at
15:57least three years to prove myself and I don't have to
16:00worry about these guys letting me walk in the next couple of
16:03months. So, I think all that is important. It's very, it's
16:05huge when you look at oh and Tillman, that's the other guy
16:07too. Tillman, you know, all that matters to me because
16:10obviously in the playoffs, we found out that death matters
16:13and the rest of the NBA is finding that out in the at the
16:15wrong time. When you look at the second apron era and some
16:18of these guys, some of these teams, they can't really add to
16:22to a roster the way they would want to because they weren't
16:24prepared for this. Look at the Phoenix Suns, Max. The Phoenix
16:27Suns are the last team to go and do the super team route and
16:30say, oh yeah, we only got four or five. I mean, we got like
16:33five guys, six guys on the contract. We'll figure out the
16:35rotation. I mean, look at look at our big three. We got
16:37Durant. We got Beal. We got Booker. We'll be fine. What
16:41did that do for them? Like, it's not, that doesn't work
16:43anymore, Max. That formula is is is the the old days out with
16:49the old. Yeah, I think the one thing you're saying is truly
16:51for me really is true is that you look at it. The Celtics
16:55have Jason Tatum as a star but is he a superstar in this
16:59league? The Browns are super strong. Celtics got a bunch of
17:03great players but not not the the supernova, not not the
17:07LeBron James, not not that kind of player. Guys who are, you
17:11know, ain't man who's going to the next level. Right. Tatum,
17:14Tatum is in there. Tatum is in their wheelhouse. Brown is in
17:19their wheelhouse. Top fifteen, top ten, whatever. If you look
17:23but but as we tried to say before, if you look at the
17:26effect of the roster and them coming together and the players
17:30they have and that's crazy. It's still crazy. I mean, you
17:34you look at the Lakers with their depth or lack of lack of
17:37depth. Uh you look at the team that you know, I think is
17:40getting some depth to me might be the New York Knicks. No,
17:43yeah. Their lineup. They just added another guy too. Yeah.
17:47Everything. I mean and and the thing that they did, I think
17:50it was really smart was Brunson took less money. Brunson took
17:55thirty-one million instead of getting forty-one to forty-two
17:59to whatever. So, I can build around me. I can and that's
18:04going to allow the Knicks to go out and do a few more things.
18:07I still don't believe they're in the same, you know,
18:10vicinity as the Boston Celtics but it but it definitely puts
18:13him on the apron and now you look at what Paul George coming
18:17over to Philly. You called that **** You called that man a
18:20couple weeks ago. Gary was like, oh, he's probably going to stay
18:23at the Clippers. You were like, that boy's going to Philly.
18:25Why wouldn't he go? I was trying to figure out with
18:28Gary. Why wouldn't he go to Philly? Yeah. I mean because if
18:31you think about Philadelphia, he instantly does not need a
18:35ball to be effective. He's a guy can score the basketball.
18:39He can defend the basketball. You can put him at. Now, you're
18:43saying he's number two, number three on the depth chart and it
18:47gives him more of an opportunity to, you know, kind
18:49of hang out and not have to do as many things when you got a
18:52Joel Embiid and you got a Maxi but there are times you know
18:56that Paul George was ability to step up, can knock down shots
19:00and take over games too. So, I think it's a it's a real good
19:03move for Philadelphia and what they have to do. Were you
19:07surprised when you heard the news about what Grossback and
19:10you know, giving up his share, the you know, majority owner of
19:13the Celtics team? Yeah, I was I was a little surprised but it
19:17makes sense. It makes perfect sense because what what do you
19:21do? Just where they always teach us now. You buy low. So
19:26high. They don't get higher than this, Max. The Boston
19:29Celtics. Yeah. You think about it. We're bought for three
19:32hundred and forty million. Whatever it was, I think it was
19:36less than Tatum's contract at three hundred five whatever it
19:39is. Yeah, you're right. Back in 2003. They were bought at that
19:43price that many years ago. Now, this team is worth probably
19:47like four, maybe 5 billion dollars. Billions. Yeah. 4.5,
19:52I think. And if you're selling this team right now, you you've
19:56been and he doesn't say like he's selling it all. He's just
20:00selling. He's selling a majority share and what they can do is
20:04they can start rolling their money back. They can take, they
20:08can take 5 billion dollars for the sale and still keep, you
20:11know, 20% of the team. Maybe not as a a bigger footprint but
20:15still an opportunity for them to do some things, you know,
20:18that they like to do. I heard that Pagliuca, his his group
20:22were talking about, you know, going out and buying this team.
20:25So, it's going to be it's going to be interesting year right
20:28now for the Boston Celtics from a managerial standpoint, from
20:31a ownership standpoint or should we say governor
20:35standpoint. It should be very interesting what this team is
20:38able to do. Yeah, Max. Especially when you look at
20:41this timeline. I mean, let's let's face it. Whenever this
20:44this guy comes in, whether it's Steve Pagliuca or someone else
20:47like, they're going to have some really, really hard decisions
20:49to make. You know, that's going to be around the time where
20:51contracts are up, you know, the next couple of seasons, you
20:55know, guys like Porzingis, Al and all that stuff. I mean, I
20:58just think this window. What is what is the topic going to be
21:01about Al? Al's going to play. I mean, okay, maybe I shouldn't
21:04have said Al but. Yeah, you shouldn't have said Al. Maybe
21:07you should say Porzingis. Porzingis is a big one. Can you
21:11Porzingis has two years left on this contract. Can you come
21:14back somehow and being able to sign him or whether you know,
21:18you got Tatum, you know, you got Brown, you know, you got
21:21Drew, you know, you got white. So you got those guys stuck
21:25already. It's going to be Porzingis is the the biggest
21:28question mark that you're going to have and they're talking
21:31about penalizing teams with the second apron by going over the
21:35salary cap and you know, maybe we call some 100 million
21:37dollars. Well, what is 100 million dollars to these teams
21:42when you just spent 4 billion dollars on this team and on the
21:46fact you look at Marnie Williams who just left Detroit,
21:50they gave him 69 million dollars just to go home. That was
21:54crazy. Go home. Like why didn't you even sign up for this?
22:00We got your address. We we know your address already, but just
22:03just go home. Yeah, but Max, he got the richest deal any
22:07coaches ever had in NBA history. Like why wouldn't they
22:09at least run it back? That's a G League team. They got in
22:12Detroit, Max. They'll make it sound like he dropped the ball
22:15here. What are we doing? Yeah, I get what I get what you're
22:20saying. But you know, whoever the ownership is believe that,
22:24you know, his time that they didn't believe in him and he
22:27got players out there. Some cave come to him is a very nice
22:30player. Ivy is a good player. So they should be better than
22:35they were. I think when they played Boston at that time,
22:38they almost beat the Celtics. Yeah, they almost got that
22:41losing streak. They almost snapped it, but it didn't
22:43happen. The Celtics came back and won that basketball game,
22:46but and I asked Rick Mahorn, who was my counterpart for
22:51Detroit radio. I said, why if you guys play this hard? He
22:54said, we don't play this hard all the time. We don't play this
22:57mark all the time with the team he was talking about. So
23:01again, here's another Rick Mahorn who's probably going to
23:04be, you look at the schedule and you say April 15th. Oh,
23:08where are we going to be? We'll be home. We go seasons over
23:13where is the Boston Celtics? You just ended less than a
23:15month ago. They definitely booked his vacation, huh? Max
23:18that when we have Rick Mahorn on man, that's one of my
23:22favorite episodes last season. That was that was hilarious.
23:28What are you going to say my folk? No, no, I was good. I was
23:31good. Yeah. No, I just um no, I just it's it's just
23:35interesting the way money's being thrown around, you know,
23:36the NBA and I get it the new TV deal and all that stuff plays a
23:40big part as well, but that tax bill Max, you know, like how
23:44many years is is the the ownership going to be able to
23:49go or not be able to but willing to to to carry that,
23:52you know, with the second apron restrictions and all that
23:56like that's the reason why the NBA did this. I feel like they
23:59want to avoid teams having dynasties and the Southerners
24:02are really going against the grain right now. I don't know
24:04why you want and here's the thing about it. I don't know
24:06why you wouldn't want teams to be that why you want to have
24:08super teams. Do you think of the the two teams in the 80s
24:12that were the most explosive teams that were the Celtics and
24:15the Lakers two dynasties after that it was Chicago, you know,
24:19Detroit for a minute was that a dynasty with them winning two
24:23in a row, but then you look at the Bulls and that became a
24:27dynasty and then you look at after then you move on you have
24:31the Spurs Spurs. Yeah, a dynasty and then Golden State
24:35Warriors. If they hadn't lost Kevin Durant, how many how many
24:39times would they have won because people keep saying they
24:42had the cheat code. They had the cheat code when they had
24:44Durant and Curry and and and I think that's what started this
24:48whole thing like the NBA was kind of like, okay, we gotta do
24:51something here. It's thirteen and yeah, but but the Celtics
24:55were they were ahead of it. I believe it's I believe that
24:59kind of stuff is for me. I see it as good. It's a good
25:02advertising for a league when you have a super team and and
25:06then other teams trying to knock them off. Yeah, but
25:10that's just me. Do you consider the Celtics a super team though
25:13because it's hard to consider them a super team, but they had
25:16the talent that it could you know what I mean like you get
25:18what I'm saying like for me super team is like when when
25:21when you know what I'm gonna say let me perennial all stars
25:24all come together and no one expected. Let me give it to
25:27you. Sneaky good sneaky great if they if there's such a
25:31thing because you look at their person. Look what they did this
25:35year. They had more games won by fifty thirty forty twenty
25:40than any other team in the NBA and the times that they just
25:44ran rough shot through through the league. They they they were
25:48what at the end of the Eastern Conference, but they were twelve
25:51games or or something clear of the Eastern Conference. No
25:55nobody played that well and the only thing that people were
25:58waiting to happen for the Celtics. They were waiting for
26:01the Celtics to fall flat on their face so they could get
26:05that. You're lying told you some told you told you they
26:08want that. Oh man. That's all you know all those dudes. I
26:12mean, but but everybody the season and I was I wasn't I was
26:18waiting like everybody else just to see what was gonna
26:21happen. But this team proved that they were a great team and
26:26and they beat people and they beat people up. Then people
26:29said, well, they they barely or Indiana. They lost the best
26:32player. Okay. You lost for seniors when you play the right
26:37right. How many teams would have lost it? I mean, yeah, you
26:41do that. so and now you play Dallas and everybody's a lot of
26:46the the consensus big guys reporters out there parade in
26:51Dallas. It's gonna be a parade in Dallas. No way Dallas Dallas
26:55has the best player. Well, the scenario was painted wrong from
26:59the beginning. They did not have the best player Tatum and
27:03Brown were the best two players. There were times when
27:06white was just as good or you look at true holiday was
27:10fantastic. So let's get away from all this other stuff about
27:15the best players were in Celtics were in green and they
27:19played well enough to dominate the NBA and win a championship
27:23convincingly not not, you know, it's like, oh my God, what's
27:26gonna happen? We're going back to Dallas. Dallas won a game
27:31and you get the Boston for game five and they get blown out
27:35six or seven days. You're found by 20 at the half. Pritchett
27:39hits a shot and I don't think I've heard the garden that loud
27:43ever when he hit the half court buzzer game and that it just
27:48like it just like took the air out of the building. I think
27:52the biggest thing to me was just the hatred for no Sean
27:56Grady, my broadcast partner, kept saying, well, I'll tell
27:58you what's going to happen. Kyrie is not going to be the
28:01villain at the ultimate villain at the end of, you know, this
28:04series because Luca is going to be the ultimate villain
28:09because the way Luca plays and talks to the crowd and all
28:11this stuff. Oh, I wouldn't know what happened. Kyrie was still
28:15the ultimate villain because he won Kyrie did what I thought
28:19was a really cool thing when he congratulated Celtics on
28:23winning the championship. He still got beat up for it. They
28:27beat his ass for exactly what sportsmanship would be like
28:32this. Oh, he's just showboating. He did. Did you
28:35ever, did you have a problem with it? Just way with him
28:38congratulating the Celtics for winning the championship
28:40before the before the game was over? No, not at all. Well,
28:44people did. You know that, right? I didn't know that.
28:46What did they say? There was a bunch of reporters who say,
28:49you know, Kyrie was just showboating and he just wanted
28:52the spotlight to be on him and that, that, that, that, that,
28:55that. I don't, I don't subscribe to that, man. Yeah,
28:57not at all. But me, but that was the still the, the venom
29:01that was in that building for Kyrie. Even after the game,
29:04people were still chanting Kyrie's name at the end.
29:08Celtics have won the championship at the parade.
29:10People were chanting Kyrie's name. Kyrie was on the island
29:13someplace with his wife and kids laid back, chilling. He's
29:18not even thinking about it. Yeah. Just, you know, just
29:20what he was doing like this. Give me, give me another drink.
29:23Yeah. I have another one of those drinks right there.
29:26Mojitos. Let me get one of those. And my wife will have a
29:30Margarita and he had an umbrella in his drink. Some of
29:34the love, love, and life, love, and life. Yeah, well, the news
29:39just came out that he's gonna, he's gonna need surgery soon
29:42but apparently, it's an injury that happened after the finals
29:44or something that happened during training but yeah, I
29:47mean, look, I'm, I'm happy for this time, this moment that he
29:52had or at least this, this time in his career where I feel like
29:55he's just in such a better place and I really don't think
29:58that was something that he was trying to play off or trying to
30:01put out there like, oh, I'm different or whatever. I think
30:03it's genuine. I really do but that was never, that was never
30:06gonna change what's gonna happen on the court though. You
30:08don't think it was a good place when the fans were behind him?
30:10He was going. Well, that was, that was the old Kyrie. That's
30:14what I'm saying. That was the old Kyrie but he's still in his
30:17feelings. It still hurts. Kyrie was. Look what happened at the
30:21game. Look what happened at the game at the game too. He went
30:24to the crowd telling him, oh, we'll be back for game five.
30:26We'll be back. Alright. You were. All the fans are like,
30:29let's celebrate it here then. Sounds good. He was right. They
30:32did come back to game five. I was surprised that they came
30:35back. Yeah but you knew there was gonna be a blowout though
30:38man. He knew that game wouldn't be close. I didn't think that,
30:41I didn't think that Dallas would come back. I thought it
30:44would be when the Celtics won game three, went three oh, I
30:47thought it was over then. Right but once Dallas won game four,
30:50you weren't worried about game five, right? No, I knew the
30:54Celtics was gonna come out and put their foot on the on the
30:57gas and that's exactly what happened. Yeah. Yeah. I mean,
31:01look, that that's what I feel like the experience of losing
31:04in the finals and just experience overall for a lot of
31:06these guys on that Celtics team played his part and then that
31:09that talent gap, I felt like significant talent gap between
31:13the Celtics and the Dallas Marriott. I was like, that's
31:15gonna catch up at some point. Why didn't people think that
31:19before the series? People kept saying about Washington, how
31:23good he was gonna be. How Jones was, Jones was gonna be
31:27dominant and all these all these naysayers talked about
31:32exactly that. This is what I see. Luca is the best player
31:36and he's gonna dominate the games anytime he wants to.
31:38Well, he didn't and what we saw was Luca, the lack of
31:42defensive mobility as he got blown by like some NBA record
31:4862% of the time. I mean, just the way hell he couldn't have
31:52kept me in front of him, you know, thinking about defensive
31:55man. Is he a hell of an offensive player? Yes, he is,
31:57but he gets you back that much more and some on the defensive
32:02end. Yeah, he does. Yeah, he does, man. They need uh that's
32:06what that's that's the lesson of the summer for for Luca.
32:10Addressing the defensive end of the floor and how to impact it
32:13because he was exposed in a big big way throughout that NBA
32:16final. You know, it hurts. You know, it does, man. That's why
32:18we saw the most effort we've ever seen from Luca in that
32:21game four matchup but then of course, you can't just turn
32:24into a defensive player in the middle of a series. You might
32:27be able to do it for one night but you're not going to all of
32:29a sudden turn to Derek White or or you know what I mean? You
32:32know, one of these moving hands, a lead defender. No, no,
32:37you're not in shape for that, right? If you look at it, you
32:40are who you are, right? At that late a time in the season, I
32:44would tell people, you don't trick people anymore. It was
32:47like when I was a finals MVP, you didn't trick anybody. You're
32:50just, you're just better than the guy besides you, the guy
32:53they have guarding you because they're going through different
32:56ways to stop you but they can't find a way to stop you, right?
33:00And the same thing is like, you know, you can do all this stuff
33:03because when you repeat games and when you have seven game
33:06series, it's not like, you know, football, the Super Bowl
33:09where, you know, you're going to have a somebody can be the
33:13finals, you know, can be the MVP because you have one great
33:16game. When the NBA, it's a kaleidoscope. It's a whole, I
33:24guess, cake that is made out there. And it's what Jalen
33:28Brown did. Jalen Brown put together a cake. He was
33:31dominant. He was dominant, not only on the offensive end, but
33:35he was really good on the defensive end because what he
33:38did, he made Luka work and sometimes bringing the
33:42basketball up, stealing the basketball from Luka. He just
33:45put a lot of pressure on me. So, he had had to use just as
33:48much energy to bring the ball up whereas when you looked at
33:52him against Minnesota, he just casually started walking the
33:55ball up. Nobody put pressure on him until he crossed half
33:58court. He didn't have that much more energy to lose to use on
34:02his defensive end. There's nothing like live baseball on a
34:05hot summer day and I can't wait for my upcoming trip to Fenway

35:39Game Time today. Last-minute tickets, lowest price
35:43guaranteed. So Dallas Mavericks signed Klay Thompson not too
35:47long ago. So, the Splash Brothers are no more. Wow. In
35:51San Francisco. Are you surprised by this news?
35:57I think I think I wasn't because I think Klay felt like
36:02he was being disrespected. And I don't know how you
36:06disrespect somebody when you have, you know, you have put
36:10all this money into it but he can see his his role being
36:14diminished. He saw Dominga getting minutes. He saw all
36:18these other guys starting to get minutes and they started to
36:21cut down on his but he's going to Dallas which I think is
36:25almost a perfect situation because if you're if you're a
36:28guy like Klay Thompson, what they're asking you to do is
36:32spot up and knock down shots. Spot up and knock down. How
36:36many times did we see you know, all these guys get
36:39opportunities to shoot the basketball. PJ Washington,
36:43wide open. Couldn't score against. Couldn't do it. Yeah.
36:46You know, Jones who is a who played great against
36:51Minnesota. Couldn't score against. Couldn't score
36:54against the South. And green too. Coming off the bench. And
36:57these were wide. These were wide open looks for those guys.
37:00So, so I I think that in in Klay's or Klay's Klay's going,
37:06two things happen. One, he's going to opportunity where he
37:09feels like he can win another championship and two, he's
37:12going, he also is going to, people don't know this but the
37:15state of Texas has no state income tax. So, your money is
37:21going to go further in Texas and in Florida because neither
37:26one of these places have state income tax. Yeah, that's a good
37:29point. Well, I don't know man. I remember I got a check from
37:33the Houston Rockets one time. Oh, that's right. I first got
37:36traded there. I was like, wait a minute. Whoa. Why am I
37:40getting? Look like I look like I'm getting some more money.
37:44That's what's going on here. What's going on? You don't do
37:47this in Massachusetts. Yeah, they didn't do this in LA when
37:50I was playing with the Clippers. Man, this is maybe
37:52they made a mistake. No, no, no. They they they did what
37:56they did and that was part of the gig. But isn't there a part
38:02of you that just thinks that maybe the Warriors should just
38:04break up the whole band, man? Like, didn't Danny A show
38:08everyone how it's done? You know what I mean? Or is it just
38:10the sentimental, the sentimental values? What are you
38:13going to do? Get rid of Steph? Danny Wood? Because because you
38:20don't want to be the organization that all of a
38:23sudden, you know, the party's over and it's taking you 10
38:27years to get back to where or or even being a competitive
38:29team again, you know, that probably probably is true and
38:34the asset value that you could get for a Steph Curry would
38:39probably be tremendous. Huge. I I'll I'll agree with you. I
38:43mean, because you don't see them competing or get an
38:47opportunity to win another championship. You look at right
38:50down the street. You look at what Sacramento is doing. You
38:53know, Sacramento is is a team right now that gives the
38:56Warriors fits and that was even when Klay Thompson was there.
39:00Right. So, I I think that you you probably right. You're
39:04probably right. If you're going to break the band up, you're
39:07you're probably right. I mean, that was one of the things that
39:10Danny Ainge learned from Red Arback and he asked Red one
39:14time. He said, he said, you had a chance to get old Larry Bird
39:19and Kevin McHale and send them to Dallas for I think it was
39:23Deathless Shrimp and Sam Perkins. Oh, no, no, no. It was
39:27the Pacers, wasn't it? No, no. It was I think it was. I don't
39:31know. I think I think he was in. I think they were in Dallas.
39:34Oh, because they ended up in Indiana. That's probably what
39:36it is. Yeah. So, they could have, they could have made that
39:39move but Red Arback who always said all the time, never fall
39:45in love with the product. Be ready to move and be ready to
39:48change direction and they didn't and this took somethings
39:53forever in the day to get back where you know where they're at
39:56today. That's funny you bring that up because the moment I
39:59heard Danny say that was when I realized, oh, this thing's got
40:02an expiration date. KG, Paul Pierce and them, they're not
40:06going to retire something like that. Like as a younger version
40:10of myself, that was a lot to take in but then now, as an
40:13adult, I'm like, oh, well, that's what every organization
40:16should do but not the Warriors. They're not doing that. They're
40:18holding on. Well, you won. What did they get? He's won four
40:22championships. Is it four? Four rings. So, yeah. So, yeah,
40:27they're there and but I tell you what, all the people who
40:30love the Warriors right now are doing just like you. They're
40:33dissing the Warriors and saying the same thing you're saying.
40:36You know, sell the ship. Save some of the people on the
40:41inside. Right. Build another one to go even further. Let's
40:45let's build an ark right now. For real. Let me kick everybody
40:49else off. We got you but we're going to bring all the animals
40:51on. We're going to build this ark. We're going to sell it but
40:56we're going to rebuild. We're going to replenish and like you
40:59said, they're they're at the point where you look at their
41:01team. You say, okay, Steph Curry, Tremont Green, who's
41:07your next best player? Exactly. That's that's the question go.
41:12Who is with a with a league now that has and every every great
41:17team in this league has at least three really strong
41:21players that that you think about Dallas was what Dallas
41:25had to learn the hard way. Minnesota has some really good
41:29players. You know, three, four, you know, really good players.
41:33You know what happened to Denver? They had just two great
41:38players and after that, they couldn't. So, you you you gotta
41:42be more like the Celtics spread it around, have a bunch of
41:46really, really good players, almost borderline great but
41:51collectively as a unit, they're so much better because they had
41:57the depth and there was no way to stop and there was no way to
42:01stop the Celtics. You just stop one guy, what's going to
42:04happen? You stop two. I remember my brother-in-law was
42:06complaining. Oh, poor Zingas. He ain't nothing here. He didn't
42:11and I finally told him a stat. I said, poor Zingas led the
42:14league in post-ups, post-up points. He was like, what? He
42:19led the league in post-up points. So, unlike Rob
42:23Williams, he was gonna score. Yeah. Rob Williams is gonna
42:27pass it. So, you go out there when you had poor Zingas out
42:31there, you had five guys at all time who could knock down a
42:35three and score the basketball for you. You think about it
42:38like oh and they had Rob Williams. You had four guys out
42:41there who could score the basketball and Rob Williams was
42:44a rebounder but he wasn't going to score or be affected from
42:47Dallas outside. Right. I mean, just like you remember that
42:52tape that they had the Rob Williams shooting threes? He
42:56was trying. You were like, look at him. Look at him. Look at
42:59him. He's shooting threes. I'm like, just wait. You see the
43:02guy who's guarding him. He's about you. He has a broom in
43:05his hand. Literally, he's got a broom in his hand. He's shooting
43:10threes over a guy your size and he has a room in his hands.
43:14What what how's that gonna work out in the real game?
43:21Yeah, man. I mean, that's the that's the that's the formula.
43:24There's something's new. I mean, with Joe Mazzuolo, people can
43:28say this team lives in Dava. No, no. He just makes sure
43:31they can all shoot that three. That's what it was. Just wait.
43:33How good was Joe Mazzuolo? Oh, man. How good was he? Got
43:38everyone to buy in. I mean, not in big compared to his first
43:41season. I mean, he was under the rest from the time he
43:46stepped on the court following the EMA to even when they they
43:52won the championship. Still, there were doubters about Joe
43:55Mazzuolo. I'm not sure what he is. I'm not sure about this but
43:59Joe Mazzuolo had to weather the storm, man. He believed he
44:04believed in his players and his players believed in him and
44:07that's what made this a great basketball team. The the
44:10continuity that they had between players and coaches.
44:15100%, man. That's why they're the NBA champions and they have
44:18plenty of opportunities to get another one for sure, man.

45:22he put it, he had your face right there on the shirt. Oh my
