00:00Weekend weather update time. If you're after something sunnier and a little warmer, well, you've come to the right place.
00:07But many of us are going to have to wait for it because the start of the weekend doesn't look that promising.
00:13Low-pressure weather fronts and the jet stream is still shifted to the south like it has been for most of the summer.
00:20But as we go through the course of the weekend, the jet stream will kind of weaken, break apart a little bit.
00:27And what is this? Well, it's an area of high pressure that's slowly moving in and will control our weather for Sunday.
00:35High pressure means the air is sinking and that means a lot of dry and sunny weather around.
00:41And yes, it will also get a little bit warmer.
00:44Let's rewind the clock, though, because before we get to Sunday, we do have to talk about Saturday, where there will be some showers around.
00:51This weather front will be the main focus for those showers initially starting off in the west.
00:56So for many, Saturday morning will be dry. And for some across eastern England and particularly Scotland, it'll be a largely dry and fine day.
01:05Certainly a much drier day on Saturday, of course, western Scotland compared to Friday.
01:09But for northern England, Wales, the Midlands, southwest England, Northern Ireland, there will be showers.
01:15And some of them could be on the heavy side, particularly around the middle parts of the day, maybe even the odd rumble of thunder.
01:20So some big downpours are possible on Saturday, something we need to keep a close eye on.
01:25But it's not going to rain all day. And as I said, parts of the east and parts of Scotland may well stay largely dry.
01:31In fact, in the sunny spells across the southeast, 23, 24 degrees Celsius likely.
01:37But for many, it will be a little cooler than average, particularly in this cloudier zone where the showers are going to be more frequent over northern England and Wales.
01:44The showers will ease. So if you've got plans on Saturday evening, well, they will become fewer and further between.
01:51So for many areas, it should become dry during Saturday night, which leads into a fine day on Sunday as the high pressure starts to move in.
02:00Any morning mist and fog will clear away pretty rapidly. There will still be some showers across the far north.
02:06Shetland, Orkney may catch one or two with a brisk breeze here.
02:10But look at this for the vast majority Sunday, fine, dry, lengthy spells of sunshine and feeling a bit warmer on Sunday as well.
02:20Temperatures more widely above average back up to the low 20s, the mid 20s across the southeast, 26, possibly even 27 degrees Celsius.
02:30And the potential for tapping into even warmer air as we go into next week.
02:35That's a few days off, though. Make sure you keep up to date with the forecast because next week could be quite interesting.
