Thunderstorms to cause significant travel delays around the country on Tuesday

From the Upper Midwest to the Southeast, storms could cause serious travel problems for a lot of Americans on July 30.

00:00We have some more significant travel trouble in our Tuesday forecast for more of the north-central

00:10U.S.

00:11Also, parts of the southeast, frequent thunderstorms are going to be an issue there into Atlanta.

00:15We had a ground stop for a time on Monday in Charlotte and in Atlanta.

00:18We may see that again for a time into Tuesday.

00:21Major delays there.

00:22Strong to severe thunderstorms around the Minneapolis area late in the day as well could

00:25lead to major delays.

00:27We'll also have scattered thunderstorms into the area around New York, Miami in the afternoon,

00:32and we'll have some sprinkles and drizzle in the morning in Seattle.

00:35Minor issues there, and it'll be a little breezy into Dallas with some minor delays

00:39there too.

00:40Also, a little bit of drizzle or some sprinkles in the morning may slow a few folks down into

00:44Portland, Oregon, then a brighter afternoon.

00:47Helena, Montana, a little breezy in the afternoon there.

00:49That could lead to a minor delay too.

00:51We'll get breezy in the afternoon into San Francisco, and spotty thunderstorms will

00:56break out into the area around the Albuquerque metro.

01:00We'll have some wind in the afternoon under a sunny sky in Casper, but look out for severe

01:04weather not just in Minneapolis, but also into Bismarck and Omaha, and we'll see some

01:08wind into Kansas City, so a lot of problems in the north-central U.S.

01:12Farther south will be a little breezy, as mentioned, into Dallas, and some lingering

01:15showers may occur near New Orleans, though it won't be as wet as we've seen in recent

01:20days.

01:21Southeast, we still have a lot of frequent downpours, and because of the nature of these

01:24thunderstorms, Nashville and Atlanta could see some major delays.

01:27We'll see scattered thunderstorms around Raleigh, into Jacksonville, and also in the afternoon

01:31there into Miami.

01:33And while Chicago looks okay, we'll have some bigger problems near Indianapolis with some

01:37strong thunderstorms nearby.

01:39Scattered storms also into Detroit and Columbus.

01:41The northeast is getting more humid with some scattered storms around.

01:44Many of these areas will see minor delays.

01:45We'll see more of the same with scattered thunderstorms down I-95 as well.

01:50The number of flight cancellations will be escalating a bit, peaking on Wednesday with

01:54slightly above average numbers, and then gradual modest improvements late in the week.
