00:00We look at the odds and where they moved in the World Series market following the
00:07trade deadline yesterday in Major League Baseball. We look at the six best prices
00:12or even seven best prices here. The odds as of Monday to start off this week on
00:18the left side. The odds currently following the deadline on the right. Now
00:22I think it's natural to question are these all based on the market moves
00:27following the MLB trade deadline? Is it just some maneuvering in this week with
00:31some bad results from Philadelphia at home against the Yankees that have
00:35continued to trend since the all-star break of Philly not playing great
00:38baseball. Regardless, here's where the odds were on Monday. Plus 3.20 for the
00:43Dodgers. Plus 4.60 for Philly. Plus 5.50 for the Yanks. Three best prices. The
00:48Yankees remain at plus 5.50. The Phillies move back. I think that's more because of
00:53bad baseball than the Dodgers even acquiring Jack Flaherty. But the Dodgers
00:57have the shortest number we have seen in nearly a month. Three to one price to win
01:01the World Series. It's a combination of all of everything Ben basically. It's
01:06let's just say the Philadelphia Phillies out of the all-star break playing very
01:09good baseball. The Dodgers don't acquire Flaherty. I'm not so sure the Phillies
01:12and the Dodgers wouldn't be neck-and-neck at that point in the odds
01:15market. But the fact that the Phillies aren't playing great baseball. The
01:17Dodgers are playing decent baseball and got that arm. That's the equivalent. Okay
01:21now bettable here. Guys are gonna be able to step in and say you know what
01:25I'm gonna make an informed decision. I think I like the Dodgers now moving
01:28forward. I've always liked them. Now it looks like the Phillies are faltering a
01:31little bit. But we're not gonna get that big of a difference because there's still
01:3460 days left. Teams like the Phillies aren't playing well. They're still gonna
01:36be in the playoffs. Whether or not the Dodgers play well over the next two
01:39weeks. They're still going to be in the playoffs. So it's sort of that mix of
01:42what does the team look like right now Ben and how do we think that team is
01:45going to look once we hit the playoffs and how well that they are playing. The
01:49Phillies are in a swoon right now. Some of the other teams making a rise here
01:52in the playoffs. This would be a fun market to watch. But I still do agree
01:55now post trade deadline. We were waiting on the Dodgers to make a move. They made
01:59a solid move in the starting pitcher. They deserve to be the favorites right
02:02now. And then compounding that is the Philadelphia Phillies not playing great
02:05baseball for the past couple weeks. Yeah it's a factor of everything as we
02:10continue to go through this list. The O's have their price shrink just by 50
02:14cents to 6 to 1. The Astros remain at 13 to 1. The Braves did not do all that
02:20much at the deadline. They do add Jorge Soler who won a World Series and a
02:24World Series MVP with Atlanta back in 2021. The Twins and the Guardians right
02:30now currently tied at an 18 to 1 price. That's tied for the seventh best number
02:35to win a World Series at this moment. Cleveland they shut out victory
02:39yesterday over Detroit. They have that best record in the American League
02:43Central. The Twins have lost both of their games to start off this week to
02:47the New York Mets. Both the Twins and the Royals six and a half games back of
02:52Cleveland in the American League Central. The Guardians on pace right now to win
02:56that division in a runaway as we enter the month of August. And if they keep
03:01winning baseball games the R.S. in a battle with the O's for that number one
03:05overall seed in the American League postseason bracket. Yeah you wanted to
03:09see a little bit more out of the Guardians but I did like the move
03:11getting an extra battered. I do think it's going to help them out but this
03:15isn't the old trade deadlines that we looked at in the past where so many
03:18teams are out of it and it's a buyer's market. It's going to turn into now from
03:22here on out a seller's market because so many teams are in it. You have to give
03:26up extra prospects just to pry some of these guys loose. And even yesterday
03:29comes down to it. You saw some of the reports coming out there like a deal was
03:32in place for Jack Flaherty not to go to the Dodgers but to actually go to the
03:35New York Yankees. They backed out the Dodgers capitalized moved in and got the
03:39player. They don't care about the medicals apparently from what the
03:41Yankees were looking at. But it's just so simple where you could really improve
03:45your team at the deadline and get away with a cheat like man that didn't cost
03:48all that much. Now it's costing you a lot. So moving forward some of these
03:52teams that are all in what does that actually mean because you're going to
03:54have to give up the farm just to get decent starting pitching when that
03:57wasn't the case in the past. Look at the National League wildcard race as we
04:02have mentioned some of the moves not featured on those seven best prices
04:06behind are really the big moves on that market and the odds board. The Padres
04:12up to a 30 to one number. The Arizona Diamondbacks their price shortening in
04:16a large way 45 to 1. For some reason the Mets who were 45 to 1 to start off
04:21this week and have won both of their games over the Minnesota Twins have
04:25moved back by 15 dollars to a 60 to 1 number. Is it because the Mets didn't do
04:31enough at the deadline? I don't really get that one. Yeah I didn't research it
04:35all that much of who like they're going to be playing over the next let's just
04:38say three to four weeks at this point because usually that really is the
04:41tipping point like hey the Mets are having a really good run but oh no
04:44let's just take a look at who they're going to be playing over the next five
04:46to six series. You're also looking at the Mets playing good baseball as we
04:50said. Is that going to continue? Forget about who they're playing and you're
04:53expecting them to sort of hit a low and say maybe you're not as good as what we
04:56anticipated over the last month to month and a half but they didn't make a lot of
04:59moves to the deadline. I didn't think they needed to. If this team's going to
05:02get hot it's just going to be on the bats alone at this point and I do agree.
05:05Stick to the plan that you had just because you had a couple weeks here
05:08Steve Cohen. Stick to the game plan of what you're going to do in the future
05:12and not just go give up prospects and pay for whoever at the deadline on a
05:15team that I don't think too many people think actually are going to compete for
05:18a World Series in the first place. This is the time of year where you go to
05:22tank a thought and you see the remaining schedule in terms of its strength in
05:26Major League Baseball. The Mets one of the 10 easiest, 8th easiest schedule
05:31still out there in Major League Baseball, 4th easiest in the National
05:36League. Not sure why that is the case. Maybe some more value and some bigger
05:40prices at 60-1 for the New York Mets. It's a competitive National League
05:44wildcard race as we have shared but the Mets and the Padres right now
05:48pulled the half game lead over Arizona. Those six teams
05:51all separated by just two and a half games. The Braves,
05:55Padres, Mets, Cardinals, D-backs and Pirates. How about the Dodgers? The biggest
06:00move at the deadline. The acquisition of Jack Flaherty. LA has
06:03been the best team and the favorite at least
06:06to win a World Series all year long. A little bit of
06:10movement on the best record in Major League
06:12Baseball down by over two bucks because the Phillies
06:15have started to struggle. Now the Phil's tied alongside the Guardians for the
06:19best record in Major League Baseball. Both 65
06:23and 42. The Dodgers 63 and 45. Just a game and a half behind
06:29Philadelphia at this moment. Donnie, the acquisition
06:32of Jack Flaherty. Does it truly make the or does it truly
06:36change your evaluation of LA in terms of winning a World Series this
06:41year? No, it doesn't. It really doesn't because
06:43we knew they were talented enough to go to the playoffs regardless of who they
06:46traded for at the deadline and talented enough to possibly win a World Series.
06:49You just wanted to see an extra move as a starting pitcher down the stretch to
06:52help them and they did that but if they would
06:55let you say go out and made those moves like they did in the past like oh we're
06:57just going to show up with Max Scherzman, Trey Turner at the
07:00deadline. They weren't able to do that and that saved Major League Baseball
07:03because if we have all these wild cards the Dodgers probably got three starting
07:06pitchers at the deadline and away they go to the World Series.
