Do Lions Have A Discipline Problem?

00:00It feels like the Giants are trying to send a message to announce their presence and seeing
00:08if they can measure up and it's manifesting itself in a lot of altercations in these joint
00:14practices.
00:15I just retweeted out another camera angle of that.
00:19It's clear what starts that with Malik Nabors giving like a shiver to the face mask and
00:28then he gets rocked, Kirby Joseph rocks him.
00:32I mean first it's like just a shot to like the face mask and then he wailed on him and
00:37his head snapped back.
00:39So why did Nabors take a shot at Kirby Joseph to begin, and Joseph wasn't having it.
00:43Now that I see the angle that you just tweeted out, you can see all this Ad Duggan Gator
00:46971.
00:47Nabors is running back to the huddle and just takes a swipe at Kirby Joseph and I, you know.
00:54I'm sure Kirby was was jawing.
00:56I mean these guys are jawing non-stop, but that's not a reason to react the way you do.
01:03I don't know, man.
01:04I mean, first of all, I think it's dumb when players take swings at other players with
01:07helmets on and guardian caps on top of the helmets.
01:10That's one.
01:11Number two, I don't care about the Giants.
01:13I don't like that there's no discipline with the Lions here.
01:16I'm gonna be honest with you.
01:17I know this is just practice, but in the game, if Kirby Joseph swings on a guy like this
01:21because he shoves him in the face mask, he's gonna get tossed.
01:24These fights have been happening a lot the last two days in practice and I'm sure Kirby
01:30Joseph probably said something to Nabors and that's why Nabors shoved him in the face mask.
01:34Leave it at that.
01:35Joseph's next move was to go down and track him down and start throwing punches.
01:39So the thing about this is, again, as long as nobody gets hurt, Dan Campbell spoke about
01:44it today and he said, look, everything you do here is evaluated and if you do something
01:50in a game that hurts your team, it's part of your evaluation.
01:56And this stuff that's going on in practice is all part of your evaluation.
02:00If you do something that hurts your team.
02:03I don't know that a seven on seven rep that concludes with a bit of a fight really hurts
02:12your team per se, but this is where you get into the old debate.
02:17Hey, man, you got to stand up for yourself.
02:20Nobody's going to push you around.
02:21Or do you just say, get the F out of here?
02:24You're the Giants, right?
02:26We have bigger things.
02:27We have bigger goals than, than you taking a swipe at me in a practice rep in early August.
02:35We're trying to win a Super Bowl.
02:36Like, do you just ignore it?
02:39Do you just dismiss it?
02:41Or do you have to step up if somebody challenges you like Malik Nabors went after Kirby Joseph?
02:46I mean, it's practice.
02:49It's not a game.
02:50So there is a difference.
02:51But to Kang's point, you'd like to see more discipline.
02:54As long as you're disciplined in the game, this stuff doesn't really matter.
02:58But when you start throwing punches, it becomes troublesome because it's so easy to break
03:04a finger to break a hand.
03:07And I guess easier to take if you're a defensive back, if you're wide receiver, you have no
03:11business doing this.
03:12But if you're defensive back, I mean, you're not that far removed from it.
03:15It's just, it's just so stupid to be throwing the punches.
03:19I don't mind a push into shoving, you know, when it gets to be like wrestling in to see
03:22if you can throw one guy on the ground and that's really, hey, look who won that, you
03:26know.
03:27But this is getting a little out of hand.
03:28And if this is going to happen throughout the rest of practice today, it's just, it's
03:33just distraction more than anything else, because guys have to answer questions about
03:37it afterwards.
03:38You missed a couple of plays that you could have worked on because you're limited in how
03:41much time you have on the field.
03:44They're just missed opportunities.
03:45And this is just nothing but a distraction.
03:46So overall, this to you is a bad thing?
03:49I mean, it's, I guess if I have to lean one way or the other, I'd lean towards, you don't
03:53need this.
03:54This is unnecessary.
03:55But I don't think it's bad.
03:57I just, we'd like to see it toned down a bit.
04:02I'd rather have less of it.
04:03I think Campbell said at some point it gets to be a waste of everyone's time because you
04:07have to clear out the squirmish, you have to get them all set up again.
04:10You know, you're wasting time, you're wasting reps.
04:12I think it's a fine line between standing up for yourself and also not letting someone
04:16else get under your skin so easily.
04:18You know, if the lines can be triggered this easily in practice, maybe is it going to carry
04:22over to the game?
04:23I wonder, I mean, I don't think the NFL has any jurisdiction over this in terms of handing
04:28out fines or suspensions for practice fights.
04:32Teams I think can do that if they want to, but that would, that would put an end to it
04:36real quickly.
04:37You know, the threat of that would probably do that.
04:40But I mean, like you watched the end of this one and Devin Singletary is, is trying to
04:44square off with lions and he's throwing punches with, with one of the defensive backs.
04:48I mean, it's at the end of it, it's just at the end, you get these dumb moves at the end
04:54and just so stupid.
04:55What do you, what do you, I don't know what Malik neighbors is doing and I'm not sure
04:59why Kirby Joseph responds.
05:02Kirby Joseph responds.
05:03I mean, he's like, I'm not putting up with that.
05:06It's like Malik neighbors goes from, you know, being covered very well on the play
05:10by Terry and Arnold.
05:12Probably salty about it.
05:13Maybe, maybe he says something, maybe turn Arnold said something to him and he takes
05:16it from a five to a seven with the little shove to Kirby Joseph.
05:20Then Kirby Joseph takes it to 12 well beyond 10.
05:25I'm going to go fanboy here for a second.
05:27But one of my takeaways in this whole thing is F the giants and you're sorry, Daniel Jones
05:32led team.
05:33Like I, it's seriously, you don't deserve to be on the field with the lions right now.
05:39And and all this stuff that, I mean, neighbors is, is probably trying to set the tone for
05:45his career.
05:46It's going to be the entire offense of the giants this year.
05:49He's all they got and he's really good.
05:52I think he's going to be really good, but it seems other teams will take notice of this
05:58and then I can get under his skin.
