00:00The thing that bothered me the most outside, I guess I'm being somewhat selfish here,
00:05I was disappointed not one snap for Levi Anzarique. Now, I didn't see any explanation for that,
00:11so if I missed it and somebody else saw it, you know, feel free.
00:14But,
00:15he's not like,
00:17he's not like Hutch.
00:19Can't play the guy. It's not, like, he's not preserving him, right?
00:24Well, maybe they are. Maybe they, maybe they really do view him as
00:28one of these guys, and Dan Campbell said he's the best. One of the best.
00:32I mean, if he's been that good, that they're already
00:37giving him that kind of treatment, it just seems, I don't know, that seems really,
00:43whatever. It's not that big a deal. That was my biggest disappointment. It's not that big a deal. For me, I look at it differently.
00:49I just think they get so much out of the joint practices that he didn't have to.
00:53Yeah.
00:53He didn't have to play in the game because
00:55he got all his work in the reps against the ones, and apparently looked pretty good.
00:58So, that's what they care about. To me, the
01:01disappointing part was that they didn't have any receiver really distinguish themselves. I mean, Isaiah Williams,
01:07he ended up with four catches in the game on four targets, and it looked pretty good,
01:11but it was all, you know, kind of mop-up duty, if you will.
01:13But the other guys just didn't, you know. Donald Peoples-Jones had one catch, albeit for 26 yards, but nothing really there.
01:22Antoine Green
01:23caught a few passes, but only for 13 yards, and then left the game with a
01:28neck concussion, I think is what Dan Campbell kind of referred to it as.
01:32And then the guys really wanted to see Caden Davis and Darius Fountain. Between them, they had one catch on
01:39seven targets.
01:40That's, I mean, I guess a lot of that can be explained by the poor
01:46quarterback play, the conditions on the field, I guess, because neither team did really well in the passing game.
01:50But I was really hoping that one of those guys is gonna separate themselves and at least give us something to talk about today
01:55and go, you know,
01:57they were right about Darius Fountain. He looked pretty good. Or, you know, Caden Davis, he did look pretty good.
02:02I mean, there just wasn't a whole lot to go on.
02:04Now, Kang, what did you like the most and what bothered you the most?
02:07What I liked the most was Sione Vahki.
02:09I think he's honestly gonna make a difference at some point during this year.
02:13You know, it felt like a project-type pick because you're switching positions, you know,
02:18we played mostly defense in college, but, you know, some snaps on offense.
02:21But I see the vision that Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell had with him. When he got in the game,
02:25he showed that he's got natural instincts, the ability to be shifty, make cuts. I mean, those are just some natural things.
02:32I mean, sometimes it's, alright, see-hole, hit-hole, but it's easier said than done.
02:36And I thought he did pretty well and he's only getting started.
02:39I think he can make a real impact right now this year on special teams, though. With the new kickoff rules,
02:44I'd love to see him back there in the
02:45landing zone, or whatever they're calling it, and be able to return some kicks.
02:49That's exactly what they're calling it.
02:50Okay, alright, whatever. Yeah, we'll see if it sticks.
02:52But as far as that, I think he can make a real difference on special teams, at least.
02:56He's a landing zone guy. I love this. We're gonna have... I think he's a landing zone guy.
03:01Yeah.
03:01But I think he, I mean, behind Montgomery and Gibbs, I think he's the next guy.
03:05Hopefully, the more experience he gets, the more reps he gets, I think he can go in the game and...
03:09I mean, he certainly brightened things up last night every time he touched the football,
03:13whereas, I mean, can you say anything special about Zonovan Knight or Craig Reynolds or anybody else?
03:19I was hoping Jamar Jefferson popped, but he really didn't.
03:21I mean, he had a couple nice runs.
03:23Got the most... When there was four yards there, he got four yards.
03:26Bringing the funk out, you know?
03:28Oh, yeah.
03:29Jake Funk. Jamar Jefferson.
03:31What bothered you the most?
03:32Alright, this bothered me.
03:33Now, it's admittedly a Kane concern because this guy wasn't gonna really impact this year for the Lions,
03:39but as much as I saw the vision Brad Holmes had for Vocky,
03:43I don't see the vision for Manu.
03:44And the reason I'm bringing this up is because they actually used some resources to get this project.
03:49And I didn't really like that from the beginning.
03:51Still don't like it now.
03:52Not that he was gonna progress that much.
03:54But when Manu went into the game,
03:56at left tackle, to me, it looked like he got beat on 90 plus percent of the snaps
04:01from a guy who's not gonna make the team for the Giants, probably.
04:04He's incredibly raw, and I know he's got athletic ability,
04:08and he's got a skill set and some tools that you could work with,
04:12but they used a fourth-round pick, gave up a future third-round pick for this guy,
04:16and I don't know if he's ever gonna see the field for the Lions.
04:19I know it's not gonna be this year, but that maybe could've been used for someone else.
04:22Because Brad Holmes is so good at mid-round picks,
04:24maybe they could've got somebody else that would've helped this team this year.
04:27Alright, 248-539-9797, we ask you,
04:31what did you like the most, and what was your biggest non-Nate Sudfeld concern?
04:36Bunch of tweets on this.
04:38We promised we'd read some on the air, so let's do so right now.
04:42Nathaniel J. writes in,
04:43the second string O-line has zero chemistry.
04:47From Brian, wasn't much to really like.
04:49Hooker showed some flashes, but that didn't last long.
04:52Neiman's name was called a lot, and Alexander has maybe already been cut.
04:57Oh, dude.
04:59Yeah, dropping the first two punts.
05:01That's, uh, that's not a good look.
05:04That's not a good look.
05:05The guy, the texter who mentioned the offensive line not having no chemistry,
05:11as a second unit,
05:12and I'm glad he makes that point,
05:14because that's what takes your offensive line up a notch,
05:18as if they know what each other is supposed to do.
05:20These guys, it's patchwork when you're a second unit.
05:24More of your ticket texts and tweets, 248-539-9797.
05:29I'll give you something else that was extraordinarily sloppy,
05:32and somebody who's today probably grading out film poorly.
05:37The Fipper.
05:39There were a lot of special teams mistakes.
05:41The first punt, they dropped it, or they gave up a big kick return,
05:45but there was a flag that negated it to open the game.
05:47Then the first punt return, they fumbled and had a hold.
05:51The second punt return, they fumbled, but it was ruled down.
05:55The kickoff coverage, they had a landing zone violation,
06:00which, by the way, if you were wondering,
06:02I was like, okay, what's the signal for this gonna be?
06:06What is the new official signal?
06:08Putting your arms up and down like a plane.
06:12I mean, what would you make the landing zone violation like?
06:16Would you make a square?
06:18And then put a line through it?
06:20That would be...
06:21Do they need those batons like they have at the airport?
06:24Maybe pull them out of their back pocket, and it's like, hey, put an X,
06:27I don't know, like, hey, we got a violation.
06:29Yeah, an X.
06:30An X would be great to have the official going,
06:34head ball, landing zone violation.
06:36Get some big orange gloves from the guy with the TV camera.
06:39I think technically what they did was the legal procedure.
06:42I think that's what the official did.
06:44It's kind of a catch-all.
06:45It's a legal procedure.
06:47But we had a landing zone violation.
06:49We had a kickoff go out of bounds.
06:52We had a player run out of bounds on their own and get flagged.
06:55Gilmore had a hold and a run out of bounds on his own flag.
06:59So it was all kinds of stuff that Fipper is going to want to clean up.
07:03Yeah.
