00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office. Today
00:04I can offer you more sunshine than the last few days, although we've seen some heavy rain
00:09overnight which is now slowly clearing Scotland. In its wake, brighter skies emerging. You
00:14can see here though, this feature here could bring a scattering of showers towards the
00:18west as we head through the day, but temperatures still above average for this time of year.
00:22Now through Thursday night and into Friday, the cloud thickens from the west, all courtesy
00:26of this band of rain which moves in and we'll see some stronger winds. There's a wind warning
00:31associated with some high waves and also some high spring tides as we head through Friday.
00:37For the time being, that rain could be heavy at times across the far north-east as Scotland.
00:41Another pulse moving in but clearing towards the north-east through the day. Murky across
00:45Pennine districts as well as southern uplands and we could see more clouds and also some
00:49patchy drizzle across east Anglia, but brighter skies towards the south. Bit of a breeze coming
00:55in across the south-west as well as Channel Coast, but many areas seeing some sunshine
01:00as we head through the morning and even along this eastern strip here, the sun will come
01:04out. Now for Scotland, any rain tends to lose its intensity as it moves towards the far
01:09north, so an improving picture across these parts. At the same time through the afternoon,
01:14you can see some showers for Northern Ireland, a few cropping up across Wales as well as
01:19southern and western parts of Scotland. Brighter skies as well, though the sunshine could turn
01:24hazy across east Anglia as well as the south-east, even so. 19 degrees Celsius will be your high.
01:2918 for Aberdeenshire, 15 or 16 for Northern Ireland. For Cardiff, we're seeing around
01:3417 degrees Celsius. Now through this evening and overnight, some clearer skies, temperatures
01:40lower than last night, so a bit of a cooler feel to things as we start the day on Friday.
01:46This thickening cloud brings outbreaks of rain, the rain moving from the west towards
01:50the east. It could be heavy at times and watch out for some very strong winds across
01:54the western side of Scotland. Into Saturday, some showers will linger on across eastern
02:00counties. For many, though, it's a bright day with some sunny spells coming through.
02:05Here's your outlook through Sunday. I think this says it all, really. It's turning very
02:09windy. A wind warning has been issued for the north as well as the west. Expect some
02:13outbreaks of rain and yes, the strongest winds will always be towards the northwest. Stay
02:18up to date with all our forecasts. I'll see you again soon.
