00:00Hello I'm Richard Hunt and I'm at Blackpool Lufthansa College and it's a big day today
00:05for T-Level students. T-Level is a qualification which combines academic
00:09work with work-based learning, 80% work-based learning and these students
00:15are finding out today how they've got on. It's a very very big day of course so
00:20let's find out how they have got on.
00:24Hello I'm with Linda Dean the Deputy Principal of Blackpool Lufthansa College at
00:31Bisbam here. So a big day for the students today. Indeed it is, it's a
00:37massive celebration. A celebration of what the students have achieved, a celebration of
00:41the support that they've had from their families and friends, the opportunity and
00:45support they've had from the employers that they've had a placement with and of
00:48course our colleagues here at Blackpool Lufthansa College. Now the T-Level qualification
00:53that's an interesting one isn't it because it is academic and some of these
00:58students would go to university or on to work but it's a different thing than an
01:03A-Level isn't it in terms of that work-based element. Absolutely so it's
01:07exactly the same level as an A-Level in terms of enabling access to
01:12university which some of the students will do. As you said some may go on to work
01:16some may go into an apprenticeship but it's absolutely career focused so it's a
01:21clear line of sight to work for the students who've taken the T-Level and they also
01:25get a beautiful blend of the academic element but they also get an opportunity
01:30to spend significant time with an employer because this is our future
01:33workforce and T-Levels is about that next generation of skills employees for
01:38our businesses in the UK and certainly in Blackpool and the Fylde. Absolutely and
01:43we've got some students here who've got their results. What's your name and how
01:48have you got on? My name's Andy and I got a distinction in the T-Level
01:51Assisted Teaching. And what are your hopes now what do you plan to do? So I'm off to
01:56the Blackpool and Fylde College University Centre to do my Foundation Teaching and
01:59Learning Support degree. Fantastic are you pleased with the results you've got?
02:03100% yes. How did you find the T-Level? I found it challenging at some times
02:08but I had the right support to push me through and get all the way through so
02:11I'm really chuffed with how it was overall and then it shows that it all
02:17paid off in the end. Absolutely fantastic well done we have another student here.
02:20What's your name sorry? My name's Leah. And Leah how did you get on? I got a distinction in the Assisted T-Level course.
02:29And what are your plans? My plans are to hopefully take a gap year then go to
02:35University next year and then maybe go down different paths. I'm hoping to
02:40either do Fashion or to do Criminology and Law. Absolutely two very very
02:45different fields but at the moment you've not decided which you've got that
02:49option? Yeah I'm hoping, I'm torn between them both because they're both something I'm really interested in but it's just obviously making that decision at the moment.
02:58Fantastic well done and right who've we got here? I'm Elisa Marsh, a very proud tutor for these two wonderful students.
03:07Yes it's a big day for them I mean obviously it must be stressful wondering
03:11how they're going to get on but when they get results like these it's always
03:15good isn't it? Yes and what is it like for yourself I mean you've obviously
03:22worked with them and then it all comes down to today with the results is it
03:27quite stressful waiting? It's nerve-wracking but you know deep down they've put the heart and soul into it and you know how they're doing along the way so you know you just want those results to pay off for that effort that they've put in and it certainly has.
