00:32Ok, and is that a specialist place?
00:35Yeah, it's a music college specialising in a lot of rock and pop music sort of things.
00:44And is that what you want to go for then in your career?
00:47Yeah, so I'm doing song writing when I go down and that's definitely what I'd like to
00:54do kind of in my career but I think if I'm doing anything in terms of like the music
01:00industry I'll be really happy with what I'm doing because I'll be doing what I love.

01:14I got four A stars in maths for the maths, chemistry and physics, I'm really pleased.

01:17I was, I had a positive outlook.

01:45First I'm looking to possibly go into graduate study and then hopefully go into industry in something like tech or finance.

02:26Hopefully to get something like software engineering somewhere in tech.

02:52I got two A stars and an A.

02:56I got an A star in law, an A star in English combined and an A in modern history.

03:02Yeah I only needed an AAB so I was really happy with that.
03:05Where are you off to now?
03:07Durham to study law.
03:09Are you hoping to be a lawyer?
03:11Yeah hoping to go into the solicitor maybe, probably somewhere around that area.
03:16What are you going to do?
03:20I'm going to go out for a meal with my mum when I've gone from here and then I'm going to go out with my friends tonight.
03:25How do you feel overall today?
03:27I was very nervous but I got the email from the university before I even opened my results so I was absolutely so happy.

03:39How does it feel to be here today on this momentous occasion?
03:42It's fantastic, it's the greatest day of the year to see all the students so excited, so grateful.
03:48Fantastic results, they've got brilliant results, they deserve to get brilliant results how hard they've worked.
03:53And they're on to inspirational destinations so yeah, best day of the year.
03:58And all the hard work that's gone in in the past couple of years from the students and the staff, is there anything you would like to say about the staff as well?
04:06Yeah well I mean a college is its staff and if you look in our Ofsted report from last year there's one line that I'm really proud of which is that staff morale is exceptionally high.
04:17And it's definitely true of the college that it's a huge huge team effort on behalf of the students and I'm really proud of them.
04:25And the staff work so hard for the students and I think you can tell, you've been talking to the students as well.
04:30The students respond and they're so grateful and they know that the staff are going the extra mile for them.
04:35And enabling them to get the achievements they've got today and then to then go on to the prestigious destinations that they're going on to.
04:42You said something quite interesting before about Newman students are up there with anybody and they should be very proud of themselves and the social mobility.
04:52I mean they can compete in any area can't they?
04:56Yes they can.
04:57I mean I'm always, and this is something I say to the students as they're leaving us, remember that they're the equal of anybody.
05:03The students leaving this college today with their achievements that they've got are the future leaders of industry, education, politics, medicine.
05:11And they will do this college proud and I know they'll do their parents proud and themselves proud when they do it.
05:18So yeah we just wish them all the best of luck but they've got everything they need to succeed.
05:23Fantastic and the students that are going to be joining you in September is there anything you'd like to say to them?
05:28Yeah well we're looking forward to welcoming them.
05:30We know there'll be a little bit of nervousness, it's a brand new place and everybody will feel that but they'll be looked after.
05:35Have a look on here and you'll see the success of the students and they felt like them two years ago.
05:41So good luck in your GCSEs, we'll be here to support you and years after that this will be you graduating and going on to your prestigious destinations.
