00:05This was after some netizens compared her writing to another book that was published in 2005.

00:21It became the midget of Senator Risa Ontiveros' response to the Senate's hearing

00:26on the budget of the Office of the Vice President.

00:29But the book wanted to be funded by the OVP for 10 million pesos

00:34to be distributed to young students facing a new issue.

00:40The book was spread on social media as an allegation of plagiarizing.

00:45Some netizens compared it to the book Auli, Just a Little Blue,

00:50by American author Andy Runton.

00:53The book, Auli, is about a quagga who helped a family of birds to build their home

01:01and another quagga who helped a typhoon.

01:05It was published in 2005.

01:08The book, Isang Kaibigan, by Vice President Sara Duterte,

01:11is about a quagga who lost his home and friends when a typhoon hit.

01:29After comparing the two books, the Vice President released a statement

01:34and called the allegation of plagiarism as a false accusation.

01:39She did not need to copy it because it was easy to write a short story

01:45based on her own experience.

01:47The public was even encouraged to wait for her next book

01:52which is about the plagiarism of Isang Kaibigan.

01:57Duterte even accompanied her post with some hashtags

02:00including the hashtag, Dapat Magtrabaho, Hindi Namumulitika.

02:05According to the spokesperson of the Office of the Vice President,

02:08Atty. Michael Poa, the book was copyrighted

02:12and registered since December 2023.
