Scattered showers are expected in parts of Scotland.Temperatures are slightly below average, particularly in the west due to the westerly breeze. 00:00Hello. It has been a busy start to the day with Storm Lillian causing a lot of disruption
00:04for many northern areas. But Storm Lillian will move away into the North Sea through
00:09the rest of today. This is a satellite picture from this morning. It pushed across the northern
00:13areas of England in particular. That's where we saw the strongest gusts and also there's
00:18been quite a lot of heavy rain across parts of Scotland. But things will change as we
00:22head into this afternoon as it turns much drier. Still going to be a pretty breezy afternoon
00:27for many of us, particularly across north and western areas. But across much of England
00:31and Wales, it should stay dry actually as we head into the latter part of Friday. In
00:36any sheltered sunshine, temperatures reaching around 21, 23 degrees at best. But for many
00:41of us, temperatures are going to be a little below par, particularly if you're on the western
00:44coast exposed to the quite brisk westerly breeze. And that will drag in showers through
00:50this evening across Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, some areas of northwest England.
00:54But it's across the south where we'll see the heaviest rain overnight tonight. It will
00:58linger across southern areas of England through Saturday morning. So with lots of cloud building
01:03in from the south and west, temperatures will be on the slightly warmer side overnight.
01:08In the north and west, slightly fresher, but there's still quite a breeze around, so it
01:11should be a fairly mild night. Now, there is a weather warning in force for many eastern
01:16areas of England as this rainfall will likely linger until around lunchtime, bringing some
01:21potential for travel disruption on Saturday morning. So there could be some slow moving
01:26roads and train delays as well. Behind it, though, we see a risk of some quite heavy,
01:31possibly thundery showers across much of England and southern areas of England and eastern
01:36areas of England, as well as the far northwest of Scotland, where the winds will be quite
01:40strong even through Saturday afternoon. For Wales and northern areas of England, a slightly
01:45drier afternoon, some sunshine to come through the latter part of the day. But it's still
01:49going to be feeling pretty cool temperatures just in the mid to higher teens. So that's
01:54a couple of degrees below average. So quite a cool feeling bank holiday weekend to come
01:59as we head into Sunday. This rain will continue across eastern areas as well as the far northwest.
02:04But for many areas in the west and for central parts of England and Wales, it will turn much
02:09dry as well as for some areas of Northern Ireland and eastern areas of Scotland, too.
02:14So fairly dry end to Saturday evening. The next batch of wet weather arrives across northwestern
02:19areas on Sunday, but it looks drier for Monday across England and Wales. Still a bit of a
02:23breeze, but it does turn slowly a bit warmer by Monday compared to the start of the weekend.
02:29And temperatures will continue to rise into the start of next week as we're in for a bit
