00:00:33Previously on The Voice, the blind auditions began.
00:01:03With artist after amazing artist, our superstar coaches were stopping at nothing.
00:01:16To secure the best talent for their team.
00:01:28I'm a professional wrestler.
00:01:30Incredible artists fighting to impress.
00:01:33I'm a Karate World Champion.
00:01:34With their astonishing voices.
00:01:39You're the voice that I've been looking for on my team.
00:01:45I need you.
00:01:46Which has our coaches.
00:01:48I would love you on my team.
00:01:50Playing dirty.
00:01:53Boom.
00:01:54The gloves and shoes are off!
00:02:07Unbelievably daunting, auditioning for this show.
00:02:12This is a really tough environment.
00:02:15There's a lot of competition.
00:02:17I love the fact that our backs are turned.
00:02:21Spinning!
00:02:23Before we see the singers on stage.
00:02:26Here we go.
00:02:28The first one for the day.
00:02:30As soon as a singer walks on stage, it's a matter of tuning right in there.
00:02:37Walking from those stage doors to the microphone must feel like the longest walk ever.
00:02:45We hear those footsteps.
00:02:47We hear the heavy breathing.
00:02:50Don't screw this up.
00:02:52Poor people have the opportunity to make or break this moment for you.
00:02:56And you don't even get to sing to their heads. You don't even see our heads.
00:03:00Everybody that comes out on the stage is hoping for chairs to turn.
00:03:04They're hoping to get one step closer to their dream.
00:03:11Art is walking.
00:03:13Art is walking.
00:03:19Art is walking.
00:03:28What was that?
00:03:30What does that mean?
00:03:32I don't know.
00:03:33I don't know.
00:03:54Strong start.
00:04:03So good!
00:04:33No way, no way.
00:04:35She can't take your love away from me.
00:04:44No way.
00:04:46And our soul won't stay.
00:04:48I'll be damned if I ever leave.
00:04:56I think about you all the time.
00:05:18Wow.
00:05:19Gorgeous.
00:05:20Wow.
00:05:24Wow.
00:05:25Wow, wow.
00:05:26That's incredible.
00:05:27What's your name?
00:05:28Hi, I'm Sienna.
00:05:29I'm 18 and I'm from Melbourne.
00:05:3418.
00:05:36Is this your family over here?
00:05:38Yes, I've got my mum, my boyfriend, my best friend, my friend and my brother.
00:05:42Wow.
00:05:45I feel like it's like a David Jones commercial.
00:05:51What a beautiful family.
00:05:53Firstly, what an incredible version of that song.
00:05:55I mean, if you mess with Yeba.
00:05:58Yeah, isn't she just like top tier?
00:06:00She's ridiculous.
00:06:01She's everything.
00:06:02Yeba's an incredibly musical singer.
00:06:05It's hard to not lock into something that sounds the same but you just made a Sienna.
00:06:10You made it really kind of old school.
00:06:13Those are my roots.
00:06:14Those old school, those old school like vibes.
00:06:16That's my roots.
00:06:17Tell me more about that.
00:06:18I mean, I've grown up in like gospel church and singing and learning in a singing school
00:06:22where it's very much about like finding your centre and learning how to channel like your inner singer.
00:06:29And seeing people sing exactly the same runs as her, I was like, I want to put a spin on it.
00:06:33Like, I want to give it something juicy and I want to make it Sienna, like you said.
00:06:43I mean, you really did that.
00:06:46I really loved what I heard.
00:06:48I really did.
00:06:49You're really talented.
00:06:51I would love you on Team Guy.
00:06:54You're already a pop star.
00:06:56Oh my gosh.
00:06:59You know, you have this old soul.
00:07:02You have this great pop look that's very modern.
00:07:05And like when you meld the two, you know, where you could go, like I could hear your voice
00:07:12and see you up with the likes of Adele.
00:07:15Like in that type of way.
00:07:20You just got it.
00:07:21And I would love, love, love, love to work with you.
00:07:25I think we could do some amazing things.
00:07:27I'm not so bad myself as a singer.
00:07:29So I'm thinking, I'm thinking we could actually teach each other.
00:07:34I would love to learn some stuff from you.
00:07:35You're fantastic.
00:07:39You've got a gift.
00:07:41The trick will be finding what sets Sienna apart and let's go on a journey of discovery
00:07:50with different songs and find something to give you that edge which sets you apart
00:07:57and makes you truly unique.
00:07:59I would love to have you on Team Kate.
00:08:05The presence you're talking, you're like so royal.
00:08:07Like I feel like you're this like majestic past life queen.
00:08:11You're a unicorn.
00:08:12Or something.
00:08:13I want to remind you that I was the first to turn.
00:08:17If that's worth anything.
00:08:20And I'm going to do my...
00:08:27I threw my shoe at you.
00:08:29I don't know if you're familiar.
00:08:30That is a very American, I don't think it's an American thing.
00:08:34I don't know if it's regional or what.
00:08:36The throwing of the shoe is like a sign of like you killed it.
00:08:40We do that in my singing school.
00:08:41See you know.
00:08:42That was a layup for you.
00:08:44I bet you don't throw those shoes at your singing school.
00:08:49Shoes off.
00:08:50Hold on.
00:08:57My shoe is in the ring too.
00:08:59What is happening?
00:09:00I mean I guess I need to, I guess you know in this decision making process
00:09:04you have to decide whether you'd like a coach that's a follower or a leader.
00:09:09Oh honey.
00:09:11First to turn, first shoe thrown.
00:09:14I don't know, I'm just putting it out there.
00:09:16In all seriousness, your talent is mesmerizing.
00:09:20And I would love to work with you.
00:09:24I can't wait to hear what you do on this show.
00:09:29It's now over to you.
00:09:34Adam.
00:09:38Um.
00:09:46Um.
00:09:54I think I will go with Adam.
00:10:02So nice to meet you.
00:10:04Oh my god.
00:10:05So do you.
00:10:06I mean you're unbelievable.
00:10:08That's gorgeous.
00:10:10I can't wait to work with you.
00:10:11Give me your shoe.
00:10:14Thank you so much.
00:10:16Take it from me.
00:10:33Yay.
00:10:37Oh my god.
00:10:38I'm so proud of you.
00:10:41I'm so proud of you.
00:10:43Let's go party.
00:10:44I cannot believe I'm on team Adam.
00:10:46When he threw that shoe at me, it just, it clocked right in.
00:10:49I was like, that's my coach.
00:10:51When she called my name I went, ah.
00:10:54Yeah, she's amazing.
00:11:04Adam Lambert's so cool.
00:11:05Like, ah.
00:11:07Yeah, wow, Adam Lambert.
00:11:08I mean, lead singer of Queen.
00:11:10Come on, get out of here.
00:11:11If there's someone walking this earth that can fill Freddie Mercury's boots,
00:11:14I want to be coached by them.
00:11:22Adam is truly an icon.
00:11:25He's been nominated for so many awards, I've truly lost count.
00:11:29Grammys, MTV Awards, Billboard Awards, he's got it all.
00:11:35Adam is just like a crazy singer.
00:11:41Who else could step into the shoes of Freddie Mercury?
00:11:45I think it shows a level of talent that is out of this world.
00:11:50Adam's sold over 8 million records.
00:11:54Simply put, he is a beastie of a singer.
00:11:57He's very like, wah, like I am Adam.
00:12:02He does his own makeup, which I freaking love.
00:12:06Is it a wonder why everyone wants to be on Adam's team?
00:12:10Music is about inspiring, it's not necessarily about winning,
00:12:13but, you know, competitiveness is part of the game,
00:12:16and it's a game that I like playing.
00:12:19The King of Kings.
00:12:23Boom.
00:12:26Hi, my name's Matthew, I'm 24, and I play for the Pararoos.
00:12:30Australia's soccer team for athletes with cerebral palsy
00:12:33or acquired brain injury.
00:12:41I was born with cerebral palsy.
00:12:46It's a daunting thing to have to sort of deal with
00:12:51at a very young age.
00:12:53Playing with the Pararoos, it's been an incredible privilege.
00:12:59It's really showed me that anything was possible.
00:13:04I have two great passions, football, obviously,
00:13:07and musical theatre.
00:13:11It was doing musicals in high school that made me go,
00:13:14this really completes me in a way that nothing else ever has.
00:13:19And I've been doing it ever since.
00:13:22I think there have been times where I've missed out on jobs
00:13:24because of my disability.
00:13:25It feels like the theatre doesn't know what to do
00:13:27with people with disabilities.
00:13:29It's incredibly satisfying to be stepping on the voice stage,
00:13:32to be heard for my voice, instead of seen for my disability.
00:13:40In terms of my cerebral palsy getting in the way
00:13:42of the performance, I think it's a really good thing.
00:13:45In terms of my cerebral palsy getting in the way
00:13:47of the performance, any sort of nervous energy
00:13:50that comes through, it comes through threefold.
00:13:54Once my legs start shaking and my muscles start going,
00:13:57that's probably my biggest concern.
00:14:00Losing total control over my body whilst I'm singing.
00:14:06It certainly puts a lot of pressure on.
00:14:08I feel that pressure.
00:14:10I want to play really bad.
00:14:13It'll also say a lot to people anywhere who feel like
00:14:15there maybe isn't a place for them in something like this.
00:14:19That there can be, and that there should be.
00:14:43This is the voice!
00:14:50This is the voice!
00:14:58Out of smoking.
00:15:00Woo-hoo!
00:15:12This is the moment.
00:15:14This is the day.
00:15:16I remember this.
00:15:18When I send all my doubts and demons on their way.
00:15:22Every endeavour I know I'll make.
00:15:26I'll make it through.
00:15:28I'll make it through.
00:15:30I'll make it through.
00:15:32I'll make it through.
00:15:34I'll make it through.
00:15:36I'll make it through.
00:15:38I'll make it through.
00:15:41Every endeavour I have made ever
00:15:45Is coming into play.
00:15:49Is here and now, today.
00:15:53This is the moment
00:15:57When all I've done
00:16:01All of the dreaming, scheming and screaming
00:16:04Become one.
00:16:07I won't look down.
00:16:10I must not fall.
00:16:14This is the moment
00:16:17Of them all.
00:16:21This is the moment
00:16:24Till all the odds
00:16:28Stay together
00:16:30As if forever we'd forgotten.
00:16:34Because when I look back
00:16:37I will always recall
00:16:41Moment for moment
00:16:44This was the moment
00:16:48The greatest moment
00:16:51Of them all.
00:17:11Hi, what's your name?
00:17:12I'm Matthew, I'm from Melbourne and I'm a pararoo.
00:17:15A pararoo? I don't know what a pararoo is.
00:17:18Yeah, so I've got cerebral palsy.
00:17:21What?
00:17:22And I play soccer for the Australian Paralympic football team.
00:17:25Amazing.
00:17:28And you sing like that?
00:17:30And I sing like that.
00:17:31You sing like that.
00:17:32I mean, dang, that was so nostalgic for me.
00:17:35I used to sing that for auditions when I was in musical theatre
00:17:38in my early 20s and it's a beast of a song
00:17:41with the key change and everything.
00:17:42It's a pretty good one.
00:17:43You just sang the hell out of that.
00:17:45Thank you very much.
00:17:47You really did.
00:17:49You're the voice that I've been looking for on my team.
00:17:52Thank you so much.
00:17:53Cheers.
00:17:54I love that there's musical theatre on here.
00:17:56You had me in the palm of your hand,
00:17:58even in your mannerisms.
00:18:00Maybe it's part of the look as well.
00:18:02You've got such a cool look.
00:18:03He looks like an old movie star.
00:18:05Like Errol Flynn or something.
00:18:07I'll take it.
00:18:08Handsome.
00:18:09Yeah, I think you've got the look, you've got charisma,
00:18:12you've got this amazing calm poise when you sing.
00:18:16I'm excited about you.
00:18:17I would love you on Team Guy.
00:18:22Hi.
00:18:23Hello, how are you?
00:18:24You have a great amount of confidence on stage.
00:18:26Do you feel that way?
00:18:27Were you nervous at all?
00:18:28I was shaking like a leaf up there.
00:18:29You would not have known.
00:18:30I just felt like you owned the stage and you were commanding it
00:18:33and that you just knew what you were doing
00:18:35and I could trust that.
00:18:36So I really, really enjoyed it
00:18:37and I just love the power in your voice
00:18:39and I would love to see what magic we can make together.
00:18:45Stepping on that stage is scary,
00:18:48but I have a feeling that confidence
00:18:50might come from the fact that you have faced
00:18:52some other deeply scary things in your life
00:18:55and come out on top.
00:18:57I think your disability,
00:18:59I think there's a lot of talk actually now
00:19:02in the music theatre community about inclusivity
00:19:05and it's something that there's a huge emphasis on.
00:19:08I also think you can get there on talent alone.
00:19:11You're good enough and I know that I can take you there.
00:19:14I'll tell you why I know that.
00:19:16Because I have worked in musical theatre
00:19:18for the last five or six years.
00:19:20I've cast a lot of people
00:19:23and if you had come into our room,
00:19:25I would have been fighting hard to cast you, absolutely.
00:19:28Thank you very much.
00:19:31I think all it will take is just joining my team.
00:19:35I don't know if you know this about me,
00:19:37but I also have done...
00:19:38How about don't talk?
00:19:41I started in musical theatre as well
00:19:43and that was my trajectory for a long time
00:19:45and in my 20s I toured with the First National of Wicked,
00:19:49I was doing a lot of musical theatre stuff
00:19:51and then I got to sing with Queen.
00:19:55CHEERING
00:20:01What were you saying?
00:20:02You got to sing with Queen?
00:20:03I never heard that before.
00:20:07She was clearly very threatened by me.
00:20:09It's alright.
00:20:10He gets hysterical sometimes.
00:20:14Well, I'll be rooting for you
00:20:16and now I'm your fan.
00:20:19Likewise.
00:20:22I can't wait to see who you pick.
00:20:26Thank you guys so much for saying such wonderful things.
00:20:29I really appreciate it.
00:20:30Thank you for turning around.
00:20:31That's really, really cool.
00:20:36Please, please.
00:20:39I think...
00:20:45I think that...
00:20:48I would be doing you a disservice, Kate,
00:20:50if I did not choose you.
00:20:56I thought it was going that way.
00:20:58Thank you so much for that.
00:21:01It's going to be great, you won't regret it.
00:21:09Excuse me.
00:21:10Love you, I love you, I love you.
00:21:14I love you.
00:21:15Oh my God, that was amazing.
00:21:17Did you see us cry?
00:21:18No.
00:21:19Oh my God, oh my God.
00:21:21Come in, come in, come in.
00:21:24I'm very excited to be on Team Kate.
00:21:26I respect her so much as an artist.
00:21:28It feels incredible.
00:21:29Oh, I love you guys.
00:21:31We love you.
00:21:32What a day.
00:21:33That was a flex of a pitch.
00:21:35Wow.
00:21:36From Kate.
00:21:37And I don't usually start listing my resume,
00:21:39so I fell for her bait, I mean, I took it.
00:21:41Damn, she brings it out in me.
00:21:43Yeah, I didn't know you did Wicked.
00:21:45Another life, yeah.
00:21:47In the back, in a top hat,
00:21:49screaming for my supper.
00:21:51Long time ago.
00:21:52Our coaches have 12 spots on their teams
00:21:55and they're filling up fast.
00:21:58Matthew is the fifth artist on Team Kate.
00:22:01Sienna brings Adam's team numbers up to five.
00:22:05Team Guy also has five artists locked in.
00:22:09While Leanne is behind the pack
00:22:12with only three on her team
00:22:14and nine spots left to fill.
00:22:16I'm good, I'm good, I'm taking my time.
00:22:19Taking my time.
00:22:23Still to come...
00:22:24One of the scariest things
00:22:26is that I'm improvising a portion of my song.
00:22:30Risking it all
00:22:32on the nation's greatest stage.
00:22:35I really want to show Australia that I belong here.
00:22:38Will her gamble pay off with the coaches?
00:22:41My improvising could go horribly wrong.
00:22:46And later, which of these incredible artists...
00:22:50Hey!
00:22:51Hey, hey, hey!
00:22:53...brings Leanne...
00:22:55Can I get a tissue?
00:22:56...to tears?
00:22:57I just completely lost my shit over here.
00:23:12Let's go.
00:23:14So awkward.
00:23:16I'm Charlize, I'm 19,
00:23:17and I'm a karate world champion.
00:23:21Hey!
00:23:23I'm ranked number three in the world for karate
00:23:25and I have a world title to my name.
00:23:28On the outside, I look like a nice, sweet, 5'2", blonde.
00:23:31No one expects this hole on the side that I have.
00:23:36We just don't do that.
00:23:40I've put karate on hold for now
00:23:42to pursue my singing.
00:23:43That's my main goal at the moment.
00:23:47I love Guy Sebastian
00:23:49and it is a dream to be able to sing in front of him.
00:23:52He was where my love of music stemmed from.
00:23:56What are you sporting here?
00:23:58This is my Guy Sebastian.
00:23:59I recognise that face.
00:24:02I am one of Guy Sebastian's biggest fans,
00:24:05but my dad?
00:24:06Whole different level.
00:24:07Are you a fan?
00:24:09Well, just a little.
00:24:10A little bit?
00:24:11Just a little.
00:24:12Dad is Guy Sebastian's number one fan on Facebook.
00:24:14Absolutely adores him.
00:24:16What is it about Guy that you love so much?
00:24:18From the very first time I actually seen him on TV,
00:24:20I just thought he's special.
00:24:21I think that when I step out on that stage,
00:24:23my dad will be looking straight at Guy Sebastian.
00:24:25Nothing to do with the fact that I'm on there.
00:24:27He will be hoping he turns, just so he can see him.
00:24:32The song that I'm singing for my blind audition is
00:24:34I Like It Like That by Guy Sebastian.
00:24:36The biggest concern with this song is that
00:24:38I won't do it justice.
00:24:39I don't want to mess it up in front of him.
00:24:41He's my idol.
00:24:42I'm so competitive.
00:24:43I want this so bad.
00:24:49Come on, Charlottetown!
00:25:07Ain't it a funny thing
00:25:10How you run to me
00:25:13And your sense is spinning out of control
00:25:16To the nth degree
00:25:19You know I'll make it right
00:25:22I'm at your command
00:25:25You can tell me anything you want to know
00:25:28I'm gonna understand
00:25:31Oh, I'ma let you down
00:25:33Break you down, down, down
00:25:35Never let you down, break you down
00:25:38Hey, oh, do you like it like that
00:25:41I'm the only one who can love you like that
00:25:44Now, hey, oh, do you like it like that
00:25:47I'm the only one who can love you like that
00:25:50He might say he's in love with you
00:25:53But he'll never do the things that I can do
00:25:56You can only watch the time I'm there
00:25:59Because I know you better than back in my day
00:26:02Now, hey, oh, do you like it like that
00:26:05I'm the only one who can love you like that
00:26:08Now, hey, oh, do you like it like that
00:26:11I'm the only one who can love you like that
00:26:14Now, hey, oh, do you like it like that
00:26:17I'm the only one who can love you like that
00:26:20Now, hey, oh, do you like it like that
00:26:23I'm the only one who can love you, love you, love you like that
00:26:27Wow!
00:26:39Hello, who have we got?
00:26:41I'm Charlize, I'm 19, I'm from Sydney
00:26:46Love you guys!
00:26:48I love you too
00:26:50Look at his shirt
00:26:52Oh my God
00:26:54Of all the friends
00:26:56Very big Guy Sebastian fans
00:26:58Is that right?
00:26:59That is epic, by the way
00:27:01What's your name?
00:27:02Adam
00:27:03Nice to meet you, Adam
00:27:04Lovely to meet you, mate
00:27:06Charlize, there was really nothing at all wrong with that
00:27:09But I'm being very critical as to who I turn for
00:27:12But was it Dad that got you into my music?
00:27:15Yes, loves you
00:27:16Come here, Adam, come here
00:27:21Give us a cuddle
00:27:24Great
00:27:25My pleasure
00:27:27I love you too
00:27:28Thank you
00:27:31Thank you so much
00:27:32No, no, no, you're not going anywhere
00:27:39Adam, did you make that shirt yourself or is that official merchandise?
00:27:43It's not official
00:27:44I want one
00:27:46I think we all need one of those t-shirts
00:27:48I definitely need it
00:27:50When I was on Idol, they made us do this shoot
00:27:53And it was like they painted fake tattoos and stuff on me
00:27:57It was one of those things that you say yes to when you go on a TV show
00:28:01That then comes back to haunt you on another television show on someone's shirt
00:28:08But with love
00:28:09With love, no, no, no
00:28:11Let's sing together, hey?
00:28:12Yeah, no worries
00:28:13So, I don't know how we're going to split this
00:28:15This is a trio, it's not a duet
00:28:17I'll just sign Keep Up With You champion
00:28:21Hey, yo, do you like it like that?
00:28:24I'm the only one who could love you like that
00:28:27He might say he's in love with you
00:28:30But he'll never do the things that I can do
00:28:33You can be a watch for the time of day
00:28:36Because I know you better than the back of my hand
00:28:39Hey, yo, could you like it like that?
00:28:42I'm the only one who could love you like that
00:28:45Hey, yo, do you like it like that?
00:28:48I'm the only one who could love you like that
00:28:51Hey, yo, do you like it like that?
00:28:54I'm the only one who could love you, love you, love you like that
00:29:07I'm so proud of you, man
00:29:09So proud of you
00:29:10Hang on just a minute
00:29:12What did I just hear at the end just then?
00:29:15Oh, don't
00:29:16Did I just hear that?
00:29:19Maybe a little bit
00:29:20You totally did
00:29:22That can sing
00:29:23Yeah
00:29:25Thank you, Adam
00:29:26Charlize, go kick some more butt
00:29:35See you later
00:29:36I'm gonna send you some other shirts
00:29:42Coming up
00:29:44I'm pretty nervous about getting on the stage
00:29:49A young Aussie with everything to prove
00:29:52This can change lives
00:29:55But will her bravery be enough to change her life?
00:29:59I have to turn a chair
00:30:01This is the voice
00:30:07This is the voice
00:30:12My name is Stephanie Molostic
00:30:14I am 19 years old and I'm from Sydney, NSW
00:30:18I started singing when I was like two and a half
00:30:20and that's all I wanted to do
00:30:21I struggled in school, but I could sing
00:30:24Everybody wants to be famous
00:30:26I always wanted to make people feel something through my music
00:30:30because it's saved me
00:30:31When I can't express myself, music is there
00:30:37I come from a very big European family
00:30:42We're very loud
00:30:43You'll hear us coming
00:30:47Music has always been a big part of our family
00:30:49I want to do music full time
00:30:51It's my passion
00:30:52It's what I think about when I wake up in the morning
00:30:54when I go to sleep, like this is it
00:30:57In the meantime, I am a barista
00:30:59I make a great coffee, I can promise you that
00:31:01Everybody needs a little coffee, please
00:31:08I am singing New Rules by Dua Lipa
00:31:10but I put my own spin on it
00:31:12It does worry me because everyone knows the original
00:31:15I'm pretty nervous about getting on the stage
00:31:18This can change lives, it has changed lives
00:31:22I have to turn a chair
00:31:27Artist walking
00:31:36Sounds like they've got a lot of family and friends
00:31:38Yeah, it's a whole second audience
00:31:56Out of my mind, out of my mind
00:31:59Wrote it down and read it out
00:32:01Hoping it would save me
00:32:04Too many times, too many times
00:32:07But love, it makes me feel like nobody else
00:32:13Nobody else
00:32:15So one, don't pick up the phone
00:32:18You know he's only calling because he's drunk and alone
00:32:20Two, don't let him in
00:32:22You'll have to kick him out again
00:32:24Three, don't be afraid
00:32:26You know you're gonna wake up his face in the morning
00:32:29And if you're under him, you ain't getting over him
00:32:33I got no one to count on
00:32:36Oh, I got no one to count on
00:32:40And I gotta talk to myself
00:32:44Oh, I got no one to count on
00:32:49And I gotta tell him
00:32:51Don't let him in, don't let him in
00:32:53No, no, no
00:32:55Don't be afraid, don't be afraid
00:32:57Yeah, yeah
00:32:59Don't let him in, don't let him
00:33:01Yeah, yeah
00:33:03Don't be afraid, don't be afraid
00:33:07You ain't getting over him
00:33:16We made her sweat
00:33:18Mandy, we made her sweat
00:33:21We made her sweat
00:33:27Wow
00:33:31Oh, I feel so bad
00:33:33I feel so bad for that
00:33:38Hi my love, what's your name, where are you from?
00:33:40Oh my gosh, my name's Stephanie Molostic
00:33:42I'm 19 and I'm from Sydney, New South Wales
00:33:47Who in the world did you bring over here?
00:33:49I got my whole family, all 13 of them
00:33:56I love that song, I love your song choice
00:33:59I think it sounded great with your voice
00:34:01You have this like cool, like deep thing
00:34:04Oh, thank you
00:34:06It was so sexy
00:34:07Oh, thank you
00:34:08I just love the tone of your voice
00:34:10I think you have a really cool pop voice
00:34:13that's got some soul to it
00:34:15I would love for the world to hear your voice more
00:34:17because it's a voice in need of hearing
00:34:19I would love to have you on Team Leigh-Anne
00:34:21I think we could do some fun things together
00:34:25Thank you
00:34:26I would love to play, let's do it
00:34:28Stephanie, that was so unexpected
00:34:30It was very well done
00:34:31Thank you, I appreciate that
00:34:32If you were on my team, which I would be honoured to have you
00:34:35I think part of our job is to point out little things
00:34:37to help you be your best
00:34:39I think one thing I would point out about that audition
00:34:41is rhythmically is locking into the pocket a little bit tighter
00:34:45It was a little bit in the beginning, in the middle
00:34:48It was a little late and a little like kind of not in
00:34:51And then by the end, you were like in the cut
00:34:53So that was great
00:34:54But that's something that we could work on together
00:34:56I'm excited
00:34:57It was great
00:34:58And you know what?
00:34:59I think another thing that's really important about this competition
00:35:03is finding people that sound unique
00:35:05that don't sound like anybody else
00:35:07And things you were doing made me go, ooh, what's, oh
00:35:11It was specifically your style
00:35:14And I think that is very important to be in pop in 2024
00:35:18So thank you for all of those beautiful tones
00:35:21Thank you
00:35:22It was really good
00:35:23Thank you so much, Stephanie
00:35:25That was such a treat
00:35:26Adam and I were doing our stank face
00:35:31I noticed that you were just, the crowd was going insane
00:35:34Like how did you, do you have a lot of
00:35:40How did you learn to work with a crowd like that?
00:35:42Since I was six, I've just been on any stage that people would have me
00:35:46Helping people to just have fun
00:35:47Because that's all I want to do is make people have fun through my music
00:35:51Wow
00:35:52Thank you
00:35:54I love your energy
00:35:56I love how much you love this
00:35:59I really enjoyed that performance
00:36:01I really did
00:36:03I have to point out the torture that we just put you through though
00:36:07Which wasn't honestly even remotely intentional
00:36:11For a second I thought, is this a girl group?
00:36:13Because there was like this
00:36:18There was like this nasally tone
00:36:20And then you'd be like
00:36:24And it was sweet
00:36:25And then you'd go into this power thing
00:36:27But then I realised it was one voice
00:36:30I would say the challenge for you
00:36:32How do I still access those areas?
00:36:35But how do I make it still have a common thread
00:36:38That still Steph shines through
00:36:40And it's undeniably Steph
00:36:42That's what I would work on mainly with you
00:36:45Just to make sure that it's really congruent throughout the whole range
00:36:49Apart from that, I think you're awesome
00:36:52Thank you
00:36:54I would love you on my team
00:36:55Alright, so you've got
00:37:03What the heck?
00:37:09What the heck?
00:37:22I would love you on my team
00:37:24Alright, so you've got
00:37:30Leanne's just blocked Guy
00:37:32Oh shit
00:37:33What the heck?
00:37:39Boom
00:37:42I mean I've blocked this man
00:37:44I need you
00:37:45I need a good pop vocal
00:37:46I don't have a good pop vocal on my team
00:37:48Adam's still in the game though
00:37:49Oh whatever, I'm just kidding
00:37:53So you've got two left
00:37:54Let's make a decision
00:37:57Oh my
00:37:58Follow your instincts
00:38:03Thank you for using your block
00:38:05I didn't even think that that was like a possibility
00:38:09I feel like
00:38:11My heart
00:38:15Is telling me to go Adam
00:38:19Thank you so much
00:38:20Thank you
00:38:21Thank you
00:38:22It was so much fun
00:38:24It was so much fun
00:38:27High five, high five, high five
00:38:31High five, thank you, thank you
00:38:33I just have to hug you
00:38:34Thank you so much
00:38:42Yes
00:38:50I love it when a coach wastes her block
00:38:56I love it when a coach wastes her block
00:38:59You're out of blocks
00:39:00I'm all out of blocks
00:39:02I'm so lost without it
00:39:04My block
00:39:05She's really fun
00:39:06She's so expressive
00:39:08You know and I think that's where all the voices kind of come in
00:39:11It's very cool
00:39:12Imagine what was going through her mind
00:39:15Like she almost got to the very end
00:39:17Yeah
00:39:18And she fought for it
00:39:20I love that
00:39:21Yeah, you were so right
00:39:22I love that
00:39:26I did use my last block
00:39:27I'm totally gutted
00:39:28I think I blocked the wrong person
00:39:31I thought it was great
00:39:32She has her own sound
00:39:34She doesn't sound like anybody else
00:39:35She's got her own character
00:39:37I have some brilliant women that are all powerhouses
00:39:41They're brave
00:39:42I think there's a bravery in my team so far
00:39:45And I'm really proud of that
00:39:46But there's so many good singers here in Australia
00:39:48It's unbelievable
00:39:49I'm really impressed
00:39:53I'm Jessica, I'm a civil engineer
00:39:55I work as a youth worker and I love what I do
00:39:58School teacher
00:39:59Work behind the bar
00:40:00G'day
00:40:01I'm Cade
00:40:02I'm 17
00:40:05I love bull riding
00:40:06I'm a singing teacher
00:40:07Worked at a brokerage
00:40:08Worked at a superannuation firm
00:40:10Honestly, it's either this or a monastery
00:40:14There you go
00:40:15No pressure
00:40:17I really enjoy being a sparky
00:40:19Carpenter
00:40:22I'm a food delivery guy who loves to sing
00:40:25I'm a manager
00:40:26Respiratory scientist
00:40:27Work at a local burger joint
00:40:29Accounting
00:40:33Oh my goodness
00:40:35Can't believe I'm here
00:40:36Holy shit
00:40:38Don't swear Britt
00:40:40I'm Brittany
00:40:41But most people know me as Freya Fury
00:40:48I'm a professional wrestler
00:40:54Freya Fury is revunctious
00:40:58If you step foot in the ring with her
00:41:00Then you've clearly messed up
00:41:03Pro wrestling brought me to the love of my life
00:41:08It's because of him as to
00:41:10You got this
00:41:11Why I'm singing again
00:41:14I love you
00:41:15I love you too
00:41:16The last time I sung in front of anybody
00:41:19The guy basically said to me
00:41:23That I was too fat and ugly to be a lead singer in a band
00:41:27And I haven't sung in front of a crowd since then
00:41:32And then the first person to hear me sing after five years
00:41:36Was Duncan
00:41:38The smile on his face
00:41:40When I sung for him
00:41:41It got me singing again
00:41:44So here I am
00:41:47I love you so much
00:41:48I love you too
00:41:50To turn a chair would be unbelievable
00:41:55And would mean
00:41:57The guy that told me that I couldn't be the lead singer of a band
00:42:02Is 110% wrong
00:42:08When I'm being Freya Fury
00:42:10I am unstoppable
00:42:12But I'm going out there today
00:42:15Because Brittany
00:42:19This is me
00:42:20This is me
00:42:24I can hear my heart beating so loud
00:42:29Am I going to be good enough?
00:42:31It's time that I take this leap
00:42:35To make my dreams come true
00:42:38To become a singer
00:42:39Oh
00:42:48Oh, here we go
00:42:50I'm hungry
00:42:52It's all for you
00:42:53It's all for you, come on
00:42:57It's so quiet
00:42:58It is so quiet, always
00:43:04Welcome to the jungle
00:43:06We got fun and games
00:43:08We got everything you want
00:43:10How do we know your name?
00:43:11Because we are the people that can find
00:43:14Whatever you may need
00:43:16And if you got the money, honey
00:43:18We got your disease
00:43:19In the jungle
00:43:21Welcome to the jungle
00:43:22What you bring it to you
00:43:24Sha-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
00:43:26Knees, knees
00:43:28Huh, yeah
00:43:29I want to watch you bleed
00:43:31Welcome to the jungle
00:43:33We're taking day by day
00:43:35And if you want it, you're gonna bleed
00:43:37But it's the price you pay
00:43:39And you're a very sexy girl
00:43:41With very hot knees
00:43:43You can taste the bright lights
00:43:45But you won't get them for free
00:43:47In the jungle
00:43:48Welcome to the jungle
00:43:50Feel my, my, my, my serpentine
00:43:55Oh, yeah
00:43:57I wanna hear you scream
00:44:00Yeah
00:44:02Oh, in the jungle
00:44:07Welcome to the jungle
00:44:09Watch me bring you to your
00:44:11Sha-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
00:44:13Knees, knees
00:44:14In the jungle
00:44:15Welcome to the jungle
00:44:17Watch me bring you to your
00:44:19It's gonna bring you
00:44:20Down
00:44:21Out
00:44:29Oh, wow.
00:44:36Hi.
00:44:37How are you?
00:44:41Hi.
00:44:42Hi.
00:44:44What's your name?
00:44:45My name is Brittany. I'm 32 years old and I'm from Penrith.
00:44:49And I'm a pro wrestler.
00:44:54I really liked your vocal. I thought it was really cool.
00:44:56You have a good rock voice, for sure. 100%.
00:44:58Thank you so much.
00:44:59The reason why I didn't turn around is I felt like it was kind of one thing.
00:45:03And I think with this show, because we're going to be throwing different songs,
00:45:07I think for me, personally on my team, I'm looking for a bit more variety.
00:45:11But it was a really solid vocal. It was really good.
00:45:14You should be proud of that audition.
00:45:17Really proud of it.
00:45:19This is actually the first time I've sung in front of anybody in about four years.
00:45:25Oh, wow.
00:45:28Four years.
00:45:30Yeah, last time I tried to really start a band or anything,
00:45:34I got told I was too ugly.
00:45:37What?
00:45:39You're gorgeous.
00:45:40Yeah, oh my God.
00:45:46You know what I would say?
00:45:47Screw that person, whoever said that to you.
00:45:51You should definitely be singing rock music with a band.
00:45:54Don't give up.
00:45:56Thank you so much.
00:45:57And you have really, really cool hair.
00:45:59And that's way part of the rock star thing.
00:46:01The rock star thing is all about the hair.
00:46:03The undercut goes all around.
00:46:06I didn't get your name at the start. I'm sorry.
00:46:08Brittany.
00:46:09Brittany.
00:46:10Yeah, you need to put that in a song where you go,
00:46:11It's Brittany, bitch!
00:46:16I loved that.
00:46:18But I think I was just looking for that extra little thing.
00:46:20And I know it's hard to think anything except for, you know,
00:46:24you didn't get a chair turn.
00:46:25But, you know, what you pointed out is something very real,
00:46:29which is how powerful words are.
00:46:34Just before I had won Idol, I had some rejection letters
00:46:37and it was all the same thing, really.
00:46:39We love your voice, you don't have the look.
00:46:41We've all experienced that sort of crap in our careers, right?
00:46:44Like I remember when I was 22, I was told by a major record label
00:46:50in the UK that I was too old to be signed to a label, 22.
00:46:55I think it's so incredible, like, the lemonade that you made
00:46:59out of those lemons.
00:47:00Becoming a pro wrestler.
00:47:04What's your name?
00:47:05Freya Fury.
00:47:06Freya Fury.
00:47:09I'm actually the roller derby queen.
00:47:13That's awesome.
00:47:14I know I did not turn around, but your energy was just magnetic
00:47:18and not magnetic enough to get a chair turn for me,
00:47:20but the one thing I would highly suggest for you,
00:47:24you know, it's easy to listen to artists that we love
00:47:27and start to emulate them.
00:47:29And I heard a great replica, but I really would love
00:47:33to know more about who you are as an artist.
00:47:36And so I think, like, really kind of sitting with that
00:47:39and discovering and playing and maybe, you know,
00:47:41listening to other artists that you really love
00:47:43and see what comes out.
00:47:45I hope that you're on stage more.
00:47:46I hope this is the beginning of something great for you.
00:47:48If anything, I think at the moment this has really lit a fire
00:47:52under my ass, and I definitely am not going to give up now.
00:47:55I'll be back.
00:47:56That's for sure.
00:47:57Get a band together.
00:47:58Thank you guys so much.
00:48:00Thank you, Brittany.
00:48:01You're a legend.
00:48:02Good job.
00:48:03Thank you so much.
00:48:06Now I want to see her, like, come out of roller skates.
00:48:08To roller derby.
00:48:09Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:48:10Like, her badassness.
00:48:11There's definitely a way to combine all of that.
00:48:13Yeah, there is.
00:48:14Roller skating, wrestling.
00:48:15That'd be so good.
00:48:23Hi.
00:48:27Awesome.
00:48:28You're great.
00:48:30Whatever.
00:48:31I'm great, actually.
00:48:32I'm never going to give up.
00:48:34Come back and do this again.
00:48:36I'm never going to let someone tell me no again.
00:48:39That's for sure.
00:48:40You're amazing.
00:48:41Thank you, guys.
00:48:43I can't believe I did it.
00:48:44I actually did it.
00:48:46I didn't get a turn, but the coach's comments really,
00:48:50really did give me the boost of confidence that I need
00:48:53to keep trying and to keep working on it.
00:48:55That's for sure.
00:48:56I definitely will not stop.
00:48:58You may see me again.
00:49:03My first job was I was a barista, making coffee.
00:49:06Probably the most, like, normal job that I ever had.
00:49:11Mom!
00:49:14I had a job at Baker's Delight.
00:49:18I got fired for stealing the cream buns.
00:49:21I thought I was allowed to.
00:49:23I worked at Best and Less.
00:49:26They wouldn't let me operate the register.
00:49:29They stuck me out the back folding towels,
00:49:32and then they fired me for incompetence.
00:49:37My first job, I worked at a servo,
00:49:40midnight to 6am shift.
00:49:44A lot of weird things happened during those hours at servos.
00:49:48A little background in retail.
00:49:49I definitely, you know, I know how to sell.
00:49:54I was a cleaner at a nursing home.
00:49:56I was a forklift driver in a warehouse.
00:50:01No, I have not had any other job besides what I do.
00:50:04I was 5 when I first started performing.
00:50:07I signed my record deal when I was 11,
00:50:09so I've been very fortunate to be able to do what I love
00:50:11my whole life.
00:50:15There's been plenty of times where I felt like,
00:50:17ah man, I just give up.
00:50:18This is, this is hard.
00:50:23You have to believe in yourself.
00:50:25Stand up tall.
00:50:28I'm good enough. I'm okay. I can do this.
00:50:32It starts with you.
00:50:45Oh my gosh, that's so exciting.
00:50:48Hi, I'm Liz Player.
00:50:50I'm 20 years old and I'm from Sydney's Northern Beaches.
00:50:57I always look a little crazy when I'm warming up
00:51:00before a performance, sticking my tongue out.
00:51:03But I'll do it.
00:51:04I do it on the train.
00:51:05People think I look insane.
00:51:06And then I'll do a full body warm up.
00:51:08It's a full body sport, singing.
00:51:11I do happen to be from a very sport-obsessed family,
00:51:17but deep down my passion was always music.
00:51:24Hello!
00:51:25Hi, how are you?
00:51:26How are we?
00:51:27Good, very good.
00:51:28Here you are, you're about to go and perform on the voice stage.
00:51:31Bit of a pivot.
00:51:32How are you feeling about that?
00:51:33I'm definitely a little nervous.
00:51:35If you do turn a chair, what happens then?
00:51:37Oh my gosh, I will be ecstatic.
00:51:39But as soon as I get off stage,
00:51:40I think the first thing I'll be doing is giving my big brother a call.
00:51:43He's in the army.
00:51:44Oh, okay.
00:51:45So he spends a lot of time overseas.
00:51:47Right, deployed.
00:51:48Yeah, he hasn't seen me perform live.
00:51:50He's always been away or interstate.
00:51:52It's always been a bit of a missing piece,
00:51:55but one day I know he will.
00:51:57There's just one other thing.
00:51:58What?
00:51:59Yes.
00:52:00Hey!
00:52:14What the hell?
00:52:19What are you doing?
00:52:23This is insane.
00:52:26This is nuts.
00:52:27Max, you've never seen Liz before.
00:52:29No, I moved out when Lizzy was 12.
00:52:31Been in the army for about eight years now.
00:52:33So, yeah, it would be unreal to actually see her perform.
00:52:36Today's the day.
00:52:37Yeah.
00:52:38Oh my God.
00:52:39It's going to mean everything.
00:52:40It's going to be unreal.
00:52:41This is wild.
00:52:42I've never had the whole family here for a performance.
00:52:44Good luck.
00:52:49Good luck.
00:52:51Oh my God.
00:52:57One of the scariest things about this blind audition for me
00:53:00is that I'm improvising a portion of my song.
00:53:05Scatting is coming up with ideas
00:53:07as they come into your head and singing.
00:53:14My improvising could go horribly wrong,
00:53:17so I'm definitely very nervous about it.
00:53:21So we are prepared for...
00:53:24We're ready for this.
00:53:30Go, Lizzy!
00:53:51It don't mean a thing
00:53:53If it ain't got that swing
00:53:55Do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I
00:53:59It don't mean a thing
00:54:01All you gotta do is sing
00:54:03Do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I
00:54:07It makes no difference if it's sweet or hot
00:54:10Just give that rhythm everything you got
00:54:15Yes, it don't mean a thing
00:54:17If it ain't got that swing
00:54:19Do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I
00:54:23It don't mean a thing
00:54:25All you gotta do is sing
00:54:27Do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I
00:54:36Come on!
00:54:37Do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do
00:55:07I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I,
00:55:37do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I
00:56:07do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I, do I
00:56:37I think that would be really fun to explore with you being that you're 20.
00:56:40And I just think we could have a lot of fun finding some sort of like fresh takes on it and make it feel timeless and make it feel young.
00:56:49I think that'd be cool.
00:56:51On team Adam.
00:56:54I think that's, that's really cool too.
00:56:57Maybe not everyone in this room loves jazz or knows much about it, but it was impossible not to feel uplifted and joyful.
00:57:05Listening to that, just because of your passion for it, I think you're so different to anyone else that we've heard.
00:57:13And I love that.
00:57:14And I would love to have you on team Kate.
00:57:21Liz, this is super exciting.
00:57:22You've got two coaches that have turned around.
00:57:25I didn't turn just because I sort of know what I need in my team.
00:57:28I think you're incredible.
00:57:29And I think you've got two rebels over there that can help you find your own sound.
00:57:35It's, it's really exciting.
00:57:37All right.
00:57:37Decision time.
00:57:41My God, this is a really, really difficult one.
00:57:44My God, I'm hearing some, I'm hearing some suggestions.
00:57:54Just thinking about everything you guys have just said, I think I'm going to have to go with Kate.
00:57:58Yay!
00:58:03Thank you so much.
00:58:04That was so good.
00:58:06That was brilliant.
00:58:13Sorry.
00:58:16So cute.
00:58:17So much joy.
00:58:18Yeah.
00:58:19Well done.
00:58:20That was awesome.
00:58:22Well done, darling.
00:58:22Oh my goodness.
00:58:25My God.
00:58:26Oh my God.
00:58:28Well done.
00:58:30Oh my God.
00:58:30I think you had me crying in the first two times.
00:58:34She's adorable.
00:58:35And I love that, that jazzy edge.
00:58:37And I'm excited to see where we can go with it.
00:58:40You know, to take it somewhere surprising.
00:58:45That's all I got.
00:58:46I got it.
00:58:46It was a bit yodely.
00:58:48There's a market for it somewhere.
00:58:52I think we'll leave this game to her.
00:58:53Yeah, please leave it to her, for sure.
00:58:56Yeah.
00:58:59Coming up, an experienced guitarist steps up to the mic.
00:59:04I've spent the best part of 30 years playing guitar.
00:59:07To step up and actually have to sing,
00:59:09that's a big fear that I need to conquer.
00:59:13But will fighting fears be enough to turn a chair?
00:59:16I've got to step up to that mic.
00:59:18Face fears, anxiety.
00:59:24Have I got what it takes?
00:59:26This is the vibe.
00:59:32This is the vibe.
00:59:39My name's Duncan Toombs.
00:59:41I'm 46.
00:59:42Originally from Toowoomba in Queensland,
00:59:43but I live on the New South Wales central coast.
00:59:47All my life I've played country music.
00:59:50And I love it.
00:59:52I spent the best part of 30 years playing guitar in bands.
00:59:56I've got some of the greatest country music singers in Australia.
01:00:01Troy Cassaday, Lee Kernighan.
01:00:03I've always been the guy in the back hiding.
01:00:07But with a guitar in my hands, I'm comfortable.
01:00:15When my dad passed, it was a definite wake-up call
01:00:19to how much time we have here on earth.
01:00:24My dad's name was Bob Toombs.
01:00:26He was a train driver for Queensland Rail.
01:00:30He had a big, beautiful heart.
01:00:33Dad's always pushed me to step out front and have a go yourself.
01:00:38Dad was always my biggest supporter.
01:00:41And I, um...
01:00:45Yeah, I miss him a lot.
01:00:50I find it easy to channel my emotion through a guitar.
01:00:58But to step up and actually have to sing out front
01:01:01and not hide in the back, that's a big fear.
01:01:05There's a lot of self-doubt.
01:01:10I'm singing a song by John Hyatt called Have A Little Faith In Me.
01:01:14Extremely dynamic song.
01:01:17It's got a massive key change near the end.
01:01:20It takes me right to the top of my limits.
01:01:23There's going to be nowhere to hide.
01:01:45Why not? Dad's always in the corner somewhere.
01:01:50Maybe he'd be cheering me on.
01:01:52He'd be cheering me on.
01:02:12When the road gets dark
01:02:15Nice.
01:02:18You can no longer see
01:02:24Just let my love throw a spark
01:02:30Have a little faith in me
01:02:36When your back's against the wall
01:02:40Just turn around, you will see
01:02:45Turn around, you will see.
01:02:47I'm gonna catch you, gonna catch you when you fall
01:02:53Just have a little faith in me
01:02:57Have a little faith in me
01:03:02Have a little faith in me
01:03:10I'm gonna hold you up, hold you up
01:03:16But your love keeps me straight
01:03:21Baby, baby, baby, baby
01:03:24Baby, baby, baby
01:03:27Please, have a little faith in me
01:03:38Beautiful.
01:03:48Poor Chase.
01:03:50Poor Chase.
01:03:58I'm crying.
01:04:00That song and your voice on that song just moved me to tears.
01:04:03What is your name?
01:04:04My name's Duncan Toombs.
01:04:06Hi, Duncan.
01:04:07I'm from Toowoomba in Queensland, but I live on the central coast with my beautiful family in New South Wales.
01:04:11Oh, hi.
01:04:13I'm 46 and I'm scared to death.
01:04:18That was awesome.
01:04:19You just have this, like, salt of the earth, like, soulful thing going on, which I just dig.
01:04:25I would love to work with you.
01:04:27You really have something to say and I think there's, there really is a future for you as an artist
01:04:34and I would love to help you build that.
01:04:39Beautiful.
01:04:40I feel like that kind of music for me, it's a shortcut to my emotional system.
01:04:46It just gets immediately into my heart and I don't have any country on my team.
01:04:53I would absolutely relish the chance to get to work with you and choose songs and see where we can go.
01:05:01Thanks so much.
01:05:03You know, obviously I'm not known as a country guy, but I think I know a lot about performing
01:05:08and the one thing I would say, you had the guitar in your hand and you were kind of playing it,
01:05:13but kind of not playing it, and then when you really wanted to feel it, you weren't playing it,
01:05:16you were feeling the song and you were feeling your notes,
01:05:19which is the moments of the song that I think were the most impressive and sort of like, they hit me.
01:05:25If you were choosing me as a coach, one of the things that I would encourage you to work on is
01:05:30just comfort in your own body on stage, because I think that's really important to make the audience comfortable.
01:05:35Your voice is so powerful, you probably don't need that safety blanket as much as you think you do.
01:05:41That's what I would offer you as your coach.
01:05:43Thanks, thanks so much.
01:05:46Hey Duncan.
01:05:47Hey Guy.
01:05:48That was just stunning.
01:05:50You know, I was in straight away, I turned really fast because I just heard this tone.
01:05:55I actually really wanted to look at who was singing.
01:05:59I think someone like you would be great for my team.
01:06:03Do you write your own music?
01:06:05I do, I have recently, yeah.
01:06:07Oh, you have?
01:06:08I've spent most of my years playing in bands.
01:06:11All of a sudden I'm writing my own music.
01:06:13What inspired you to start writing your own music?
01:06:15My wife bought me a trip to Nashville to go to a songwriting course.
01:06:21I always struggled to write a song, but they taught me a way to songwrite.
01:06:25I could imagine a scene or a story and just describe what I'm seeing visually.
01:06:32And that sort of unlocked a whole thing for me.
01:06:34It's like, oh, now I can write a song.
01:06:39Do you mind if I put you on the spot and ask you to play us a little bit of something?
01:06:44Of yours?
01:06:49Just a taste, I just want a taste.
01:06:55Sing it!
01:06:57Good, good, good.
01:07:12Do you mind if I put you on the spot and ask you to play us a little bit of something?
01:07:17Of yours?
01:07:20Just a taste, I just want a taste.
01:07:22I can.
01:07:23That'd be amazing.
01:07:24If I was going to do any song, I'd do a song that I wrote for my dad, who's no longer here.
01:07:28I feel him with me here today.
01:07:30My dad was a train driver for Queensland Rail for 35 years.
01:07:34Wow.
01:07:35Lived a pretty simple life.
01:07:36It was just old school values.
01:07:41I miss him a lot.
01:07:42I can sing a bit of that if you like.
01:07:43Yeah, I'd love it.
01:07:44Please.
01:07:55There's a steam engine on the line
01:08:02Won't be stopping at the gap this time
01:08:09It's carrying a heavy load
01:08:13On to the by and by
01:08:17Won't need the rail
01:08:19It's guided by the light
01:08:31Hear that engine roar
01:08:33See the wheels take flight
01:08:38They'll be smelling that steam in the heavens tonight
01:08:46There's something about the sound
01:08:50Of steel on steel
01:08:53It's like a band of angels
01:08:56Crying in the night
01:09:01Singing Hallelujah
01:09:07Singing Hallelujah
01:09:13Singing Hallelujah
01:09:21Singing Hallelujah
01:09:35My father drove trains on the War Eagle Line
01:09:42Now he's sitting at the wheel for his final ride
01:09:51Uh...
01:09:58That's gorgeous.
01:10:04Very nice.
01:10:05I mean, I just completely lost my shit over here.
01:10:09Like, oh, my lord.
01:10:12Can I get a tissue?
01:10:13Anybody got a tissue?
01:10:15I appreciate it.
01:10:16You know what it's like to not want your mascara to run, so thank you.
01:10:19Yeah, honey.
01:10:22You've obviously lived through some stuff
01:10:24and you've got a lot to share with the world
01:10:26so thank you for sharing it on this stage.
01:10:28Yeah, thank you so much.
01:10:29Let's go.
01:10:30Four chair turns.
01:10:32Yeah.
01:10:33Alright.
01:10:34Now it's the hard part for him.
01:10:45The four of you just nailed me exactly.
01:10:47I really appreciate all the encouragement.
01:10:52But, look, I fell in love with country music
01:10:55when I was about seven years old
01:10:57and country music's always looked after me,
01:10:59so I love you.
01:11:01It's gotta be the end.
01:11:07I love you.
01:11:08Hi.
01:11:09I'm so happy for you.
01:11:11I'm so proud of you.
01:11:13Oh, God.
01:11:25Well done.
01:11:26Yeah.
01:11:27What a beautiful song.
01:11:28So sweet.
01:11:29Yeah.
01:11:30His voice is, like, so, like...
01:11:31Yeah, it's like butter.
01:11:32Yeah.
01:11:33It's so, like, expansive.
01:11:34Yeah.
01:11:35It's huge.
01:11:36I loved that song.
01:11:37Yeah.
01:11:38That was beautiful.
01:11:39I mean, especially, he hasn't been writing music that long,
01:11:41like, to write a song like that.
01:11:42I know.
01:11:43He's got undeniable songwriting talent, so yeah.
01:11:45Like instincts.
01:11:46The right hands.
01:11:47He has, like, the instincts is just there.
01:11:49The right hands.
01:11:50I think he could write some great stuff, for sure.
01:11:51Yeah.
01:11:55He was just so authentic,
01:11:57and I've been really looking for a storyteller for my team,
01:12:00and you could tell it just meant so much for him to be on that stage
01:12:03and to be able to sing his own music
01:12:05and to tell a story about his dad.
01:12:07Like, it just really touched me.
01:12:09The coach's comments really hit home.
01:12:13It's made me really think that this journey I'm on,
01:12:17it is possible.
01:12:30Next time on The Voice...
01:12:37That was insane.
01:12:39The coaches are blown away.
01:12:41That is, like, a perfect voice.
01:12:43For sexy and badass.
01:12:44And I've been waiting for a voice like yours.
01:12:46As more hopeful musos stir up the competition.
01:12:51Just want to point out I was the first one to turn around.
01:12:53Come on, it's a no-brainer. Like, you belong on my team.
01:12:55I'm viciously hungry to have you on my team.
01:12:58Zaya Sebastian!
