00:00:09Ricky the Dragon Steamboat and Shane Douglas challenge Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham
00:00:13for their Unified World Tag Team Championship.
00:00:16Two of WCW's most powerful personalities collide
00:00:19when Ravishing Rick Rude battles Sting
00:00:22in tonight's semifinal bout in the King of Cable Tournament.
00:00:25Paulie dangerously says he's a man,
00:00:28but what kind of man hits a girl?
00:00:30Medusa will put Paulie to the test in tonight's Clash of the Sexes.
00:00:34And get ready to rumble!
00:00:37It's Johnny B. Bad and Scotty Flamingo in three rounds of boxing.
00:00:40All this excitement and much more are next
00:00:43as World Championship Wrestling presents
00:00:46Clash of the Champions.
00:00:50Jam-packed to the rafters,
00:00:53the Clash of Champions is on the air on TBS.
00:00:56Hello again, everybody. I'm Jim Ross along with Jesse the Body Madura.
00:01:00We are here at ringside, and, Jess,
00:01:02everybody's anticipating a tremendous live broadcast,
00:01:05but one thing that we're all anticipating, the Clash of the Sexes.
00:01:09Absolutely. I'll tell you, it's so loud in here right now, Jim Ross,
00:01:13I can't even hear myself speak.
00:01:15But I'm pumped up, that's right.
00:01:17And if you want to know something, you know,
00:01:19there was a world heavyweight boxing match a couple of days ago
00:01:23that had a weigh-in.
00:01:24That weigh-in was nothing compared to the weigh-in
00:01:27that took place here in World Championship Wrestling.
00:01:30Let's show the fans what happened earlier today.
00:01:32Paulie and Medusa had their weigh-in,
00:01:34and as Jesse the Body Madura said,
00:01:36there was certainly some fireworks at that situation, Jess.
00:01:39Not only that, Jim Ross, I couldn't believe
00:01:42the weight of the two contestants.
00:01:44Very controversial.
00:01:46I'm ready. 188 pounds.
00:01:49Huh? Ready? 188 pounds.
00:01:52Solid, baby. Check it out.
00:01:54There you see Paulie Danderson weighed in at 188 pounds.
00:01:58No, they said 192.
00:02:00Oh, there it is. Oh, look at that body.
00:02:03Well, he's not ever going to be called Paulie the Body.
00:02:06There's only one body, and I'm standing by him.
00:02:08I'm glad he's putting that coat back on.
00:02:10And now we'll see Medusa's two steps on the scales.
00:02:15I think my memory serves me correctly.
00:02:19She weighed at 140.
00:02:21Right there's the fireworks.
00:02:23She was ready to go earlier today.
00:02:25And, ladies and gentlemen, standing by back in our locker room area
00:02:28is Tony Schiavone.
00:02:30He's with the executive vice president of WCW, Cowboy Bill Watts.
00:02:33Let's go back to the locker room.
00:02:35Okay, Jim, thank you very much.
00:02:37Great to be with you here on Clash of the Champions.
00:02:39Bill, the last time we had Clash of the Champions,
00:02:41we celebrated 20 years of wrestling on TBS.
00:02:43And now we start a new era.
00:02:45We're ready for some high-impact action of world championship wrestling tonight.
00:02:48Well, I'm certainly proud to be a part of it,
00:02:50and on behalf of Turner Broadcasting and World Championship Wrestling,
00:02:53we want to thank you for inviting us into your home.
00:02:55We've got some great events tonight, a lot of intensity,
00:02:58a lot of very controversial situations.
00:03:01We really hope you enjoy it.
00:03:02Okay, Bill, thanks very much.
00:03:04Also at the other side of the Lincoln Coliseum
00:03:06in the other locker room area with us
00:03:08is a man you see on WCW Power Hour each and every Saturday,
00:03:11Teddy Long, standing by with a co-host of the main event on Sundays,
00:03:14Michael PSA.
00:03:15Take it away, guys.
00:03:18Well, thanks, Tony.
00:03:19And let me say something to all the fans right now
00:03:21how excited I am to be a part of another big Clash of Champions.
00:03:24And, Michael, I know you are, too.
00:03:26Teddy, Macon, Georgia, is on fire.
00:03:28We got the unified title match.
00:03:29We got Roode against Sting, a boxing match,
00:03:32Paulie and Medusa,
00:03:33but we are fixing to go collect a bounty on Eric Watts.
00:03:36It's been said that the hatred for Bill Watts
00:03:38has been taken out on his son,
00:03:40Eric, I'd hate you if your last name was Hayes.
00:03:43Well, you've heard the comments from Michael Hayes.
00:03:45Now, fans, I have just received some late developing breaking news
00:03:49concerning flying Brian Pillman.
00:03:51Now, Brian Pillman has suffered a knee injury.
00:03:54I do understand that he is here tonight,
00:03:56and he is on crutches.
00:03:57And, by the way, I think they're telling me now
00:03:59that Brian Pillman is at ringside right now
00:04:02with Jesse Ventura.
00:04:03Let's go back to Jesse.
00:04:06Brian Pillman, you're injured.
00:04:09I mean, I recall weeks back
00:04:11that it was the other way around.
00:04:13It was Brad Armstrong who was injured.
00:04:15It was you who was disappointed,
00:04:17who had trained so hard for the matchup
00:04:20and then faced a situation
00:04:22where Brad Armstrong couldn't wrestle.
00:04:24Now, you're in that position, Brian Pillman.
00:04:27Well, Jess, I just hope this whole situation
00:04:29will be a valuable learning experience for me.
00:04:32I was really looking forward to competing
00:04:34against Brad Armstrong here tonight.
00:04:36Unfortunately, due to the injury,
00:04:38that's not going to happen.
00:04:40I guess now that the shoe's on the other foot,
00:04:44I finally realize the kind of pain and aggravation
00:04:51you went through when you didn't get an opportunity
00:04:53to defend your title against me, Brad.
00:04:55And it really hurts me to know how foolish I was
00:04:59in the actions I took and the way I carried on.
00:05:02And what I'd like to say to you right now, Brad,
00:05:04is I'd like to take this time
00:05:06and make a public apology to you
00:05:08right here on national TV,
00:05:10because I admit I was wrong.
00:05:12You've got every right to be upset and mad.
00:05:15I don't blame you one bit.
00:05:17And if it's any consolation, Brad,
00:05:20if it'll make you feel any better,
00:05:23go ahead and slap me.
00:05:25Brad Armstrong, I mean, he's hurt.
00:05:27How do you feel about that?
00:05:30Oh, gosh!
00:05:33What are you doing?
00:05:36He wasn't hurt.
00:05:38You can't disqualify me.
00:05:41The match hasn't started yet.
00:05:43You want to arrest Armstrong?
00:05:45Come on, let's get it on.
00:05:48What an underhanded piece of business this is.
00:05:54There was nothing wrong with Pillman at all.
00:05:58And he's right about one thing.
00:06:00He can't be disqualified because the match hasn't started.
00:06:03I'm not so sure.
00:06:05But Brad Armstrong's trying to climb up on the apron.
00:06:09Referees are trying to hold him back.
00:06:11Armstrong says to ring the bell.
00:06:13He wants the bell to be rung,
00:06:15and it's rung and the match is on.
00:06:18Armstrong attacks at Pillman with those chops.
00:06:22It's Armstrong with the right hand.
00:06:26Armstrong basically trying to fight
00:06:28Armstrong basically trying to fight with one leg.
00:06:34And I'll tell you what, Jim Ross, right now,
00:06:36oh, he got caught!
00:06:38He got caught!
00:06:39Pillman went in and clipped him, caught him on the knee.
00:06:41He chopped him right on the knee!
00:06:43And Pillman's going to win it!
00:06:45Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner,
00:06:47Lion Ryan!
00:06:51Well, I cannot believe the way this one has gotten started.
00:06:56What a piece of subterfuge for Lion Ryan Pillman,
00:07:00as we'll take another look at the closing moments.
00:07:03There you see Armstrong with a big right hand on Lion Ryan,
00:07:06but he sees the opening boot.
00:07:08There's the clip right there to the already injured knee
00:07:11by the crutch.
00:07:13There he hooks the leg.
00:07:14One, two, three, and I'll tell you what, Jim Ross,
00:07:16you got to give the guy credit.
00:07:18He pulled a fast one.
00:07:19Oh, what a sneaky play.
00:07:20Vance, Paulie, and Meduso, the hotline,
00:07:23live, taking your calls until half past the hour.
00:07:25And we'll be back after this time-out.
00:07:28♪♪
00:07:38Welcome back, everyone, to the Clash of the Champions.
00:07:41We're live in Macon, Georgia.
00:07:43The fireworks have already started here
00:07:45in the flying Brian Brad Armstrong situation.
00:07:48And, Jess, we expect to see a lot of fireworks
00:07:50when Paulie and Meduso have the Clash of the Sexes.
00:07:53Absolutely, Jim Ross.
00:07:54I'll tell you what, this is going to be a battle.
00:07:56It's not really sanctioned.
00:07:57It's not really a competition.
00:07:58It's a fight.
00:07:59Fans, both these people are really wanting to settle this score.
00:08:03We're going to hear from Paulie Dangerously
00:08:05in just a few more moments,
00:08:06but we want to take you back now
00:08:07and show you how this whole situation got started.
00:08:10It really peaked at Halloween Havoc.
00:08:12Here's the story.
00:08:14The conflict between Paulie Dangerously and Meduso
00:08:16had only been a war of words
00:08:18until Halloween Havoc on October 25th.
00:08:20It was then Paulie's tirade was too much for Meduso to take.
00:08:24Man, man!
00:08:25You are a woman, woman, woman!
00:08:28Which means, dammit, you are fired!
00:08:31Fired! Fired!
00:08:33And because you're a woman,
00:08:35and I know that means that you're stupid,
00:08:37I spell it out for you.
00:08:39F-I-R-E-D!
00:08:43Fired! Fired! Fired!
00:08:46Paulie, you bastard!
00:08:50All right!
00:08:52She kicked him right in the face!
00:08:54Paulie, you better get out of there!
00:08:57Meduso is kicking Paulie onto the stage!
00:09:02For tonight's clash of the sexes,
00:09:04Meduso has put in many hours of training.
00:09:07She brings with her an intense martial arts background
00:09:10and a passion to finally settle the score.
00:09:13Paulie, I've had enough of you for the last year!
00:09:16You've demeaned me,
00:09:17and now I'm going to embarrass you!
00:09:19When I get through with you,
00:09:21everyone's going to call you Paulina,
00:09:23and I promise you.
00:09:26Meanwhile, Paulie has gone through a training regimen of his own
00:09:30as he and other members of his dangerous alliance
00:09:32held a public workout this past weekend
00:09:35on WCW Saturday night.
00:09:37Oh, do it!
00:09:43Thank you, Lorimer!
00:09:46Look what you did! Look what you did!
00:09:49Yes! Yes! Paulie, the big one, baby!
00:09:52The big one! The big one! The big one!
00:09:56Boom! Yes!
00:10:04I won! I am a real man!
00:10:09Immediately after the workout, Paulie confronted Meduso,
00:10:12and after berating her again,
00:10:14he found himself in the same position that he will be in tonight,
00:10:18alone.
00:10:20It's not your fault.
00:10:22It's okay. I got her.
00:10:24It's not your fault. It's a little strong.
00:10:26It's not your fault that you're so stupid
00:10:30that you think you can take on a real man like Paulie dangerously.
00:10:33It's not your fault that you're so ignorant
00:10:36you think you can beat up a man.
00:10:38It's not your fault you're that stupid.
00:10:40It's genetics. You were born stupid.
00:10:43You're just a woman.
00:10:45But I am a man.
00:10:48My father's pride and joy.
00:10:51Unlike you.
00:10:53That is disappointment.
00:10:55Because we all know that your father wanted a boy,
00:10:58wanted a man for a son.
00:11:00And he almost got one, didn't he?
00:11:02But not quite.
00:11:04Now, I know what you're thinking, Meduso.
00:11:06You're looking at my face,
00:11:08and you're trying to decide,
00:11:10should I kick him,
00:11:12or should I kiss him?
00:11:14Because you know
00:11:16that you've always wanted a real man
00:11:18like Paulie dangerously.
00:11:20How many nights did you call me
00:11:22from Rick Road's room
00:11:24saying, Paulie, I want to be
00:11:26with a real man like you!
00:11:28But you will never have me!
00:11:30You will never have a real man
00:11:32like Paulie dangerously
00:11:34because I wouldn't lower myself
00:11:36to be with something like you!
00:11:38A woman! Nothing but a woman!
00:11:40And I hate your filthy, stupid,
00:11:42gut! You hear me?
00:11:44What are you going to do? Nothing!
00:11:46But if you take one step towards me,
00:11:48we'll stomp your butt, you got me?
00:11:50We will not tolerate this!
00:11:52That's right! Who? Who, Paulie?
00:11:54Who not you?
00:11:56You! You! You!
00:11:58You! You! You!
00:12:00You! You! You!
00:12:02There's nothing! Here goes Meduso
00:12:04chasing Paulie!
00:12:06Paulie's over the rail!
00:12:08Meduso kneeling down!
00:12:10They're going through the crowd!
00:12:12They're going out on Peachtree!
00:12:14They're going out on Peachtree!
00:12:16All right, that happened just Saturday.
00:12:18She is ready for war, Jess.
00:12:20Absolutely, and I'll tell you what, tonight
00:12:22there's nowhere for Paulie to run and hide.
00:12:24He's going to have to do it, and he's going to do it
00:12:26right in this ring here in Macon, Georgia.
00:12:28They're going to have five minutes to settle their differences,
00:12:30and I understand that Michael Hayes
00:12:32is standing by in the locker room
00:12:34with Paulie dangerously. Let's go there now.
00:12:36Thanks, Jim and Jess.
00:12:38I just want to say I'm standing here with the man
00:12:40who is representing all of mankind.
00:12:42This is bigger than Bobby Riggs,
00:12:44Billie Jean King, bigger than Jimmy Connors,
00:12:46Martina Navatrilova.
00:12:48Paulie, one hand tied behind your back.
00:12:50Is it going to be a problem?
00:12:52No problem. See, this is all about sacrifice.
00:12:54Men always make the sacrifice.
00:12:56Men sacrificed their lives in war
00:12:58to fight for their country.
00:13:00Women do nothing. It was a man
00:13:02that sacrificed everything
00:13:04for all of our sins. Women do nothing.
00:13:06The only sacrifice women ever make
00:13:08is when they're 16 years old
00:13:10in their boyfriend's car.
00:13:12But tonight, Medusa,
00:13:14you will be sacrificed
00:13:16at the altar of the Lord
00:13:18and master of all
00:13:20of manhood.
00:13:22Paulie
00:13:24dangerously. Hey, man.
00:13:26Hey, Michael. I didn't get my money from the workout.
00:13:28He didn't get his money from the workout.
00:13:30You know, when I punched him and knocked him out.
00:13:32Pay the guy.
00:13:34We're busy. We're busy.
00:13:36He's a loser, and Medusa tonight,
00:13:38you'll be a loser, too.
00:13:40Back to you guys.
00:13:42All right, Michael Hayes. Thanks very much.
00:13:44Jeff, what do you think? Can Paulie pull it off with one hand tied behind him?
00:13:46Well, he's handicapped,
00:13:48but I'll tell you what, he's been trained
00:13:50and he believes in himself,
00:13:52but I'll tell you what, Medusa's one heck of an athlete.
00:13:54Indeed she is, and fans, when we come back,
00:13:56our bounty tag team matchup
00:13:58is next. Watson Sasaki
00:14:00meet Anderson and Eaton with Hayes at ringside.
00:14:02That match is next on the Clash of the Champions.
00:14:18Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest
00:14:20on the Clash of the Champions,
00:14:22a special bounty tag team
00:14:24match set for one fall
00:14:26with a 20-minute time limit.
00:14:28Introducing team number one
00:14:30to my left, they are accompanied
00:14:32by fabulous free bird
00:14:34Michael P.S. Hayes
00:14:36at a total
00:14:38combined weight of
00:14:40499 pounds.
00:14:42First, from Minnesota,
00:14:44the enforcer,
00:14:46Arne Anderson.
00:14:50And from Huntsville, Alabama,
00:14:52beautiful
00:14:54Bobbie.
00:14:58And ladies
00:15:00and gentlemen, their opponents,
00:15:02total combined weight,
00:15:04499 pounds.
00:15:06Introducing first
00:15:08from the University of Louisville,
00:15:10Eric Watts.
00:15:14And from Tokyo, Japan,
00:15:16Kensuke Sasaki.
00:15:22All right, fans,
00:15:24as many of you know, Paul E. Dangerously
00:15:26has put a cash bounty on Eric Watts'
00:15:28head for this contest.
00:15:30A cash inducement
00:15:32for Hayes, Anderson, and Eaton
00:15:34to injure this young man during the course
00:15:36of this contest. So it's a high-stakes match
00:15:38for Watts. I'm confused,
00:15:40Jim Ross. It says that Watts is from
00:15:42the University of Louisville. What, he lives
00:15:44on campus all the time?
00:15:46That's where he attended college, obviously.
00:15:48He's from Bixby, Oklahoma. There we go.
00:15:50Then he's from Oklahoma. Collar and elbow tie-up.
00:15:52It's beautiful Bobbie and Eric Watts
00:15:54starting it out here.
00:15:56And
00:15:58Eaton, Anderson, one of the great tag
00:16:00teams in WCW. Quite a great challenge
00:16:02for the young combination of Sasaki and Watts.
00:16:04Side headlock, far side,
00:16:06and, oh, look at the slaps!
00:16:08A beautiful Bobbie
00:16:10waist lock, but a quick go-behind by Eric
00:16:12counters it.
00:16:14And a, oh, oh!
00:16:16Beautiful Bobbie caught one from the young rookie.
00:16:18You know, I'll tell you something.
00:16:20I don't envy Eric Watts.
00:16:22I mean, here's a young guy, his first
00:16:24year as a professional, and he's got
00:16:26a bounty on his head. I mean, that
00:16:28could mean his career, Jim Ross,
00:16:30could end before it even gets started, really.
00:16:32You're right about that.
00:16:34You're exactly right about that.
00:16:36He's certainly been on the hot seat
00:16:38as far as dangerously and his people are concerned.
00:16:40Beautiful Bobbie forcing Eric to the
00:16:42ropes, and Eaton got the elbow in.
00:16:44The experienced veteran from
00:16:46Huntsville, Alabama.
00:16:48Takes Eric to the far side, goes to
00:16:50the abdominal stretch, and he's trying to get it applied.
00:16:52Couldn't get it hooked in, good arm drag count.
00:16:58Whoa, right over the top rope.
00:17:02Eric back up on that second rope.
00:17:06Avoiding.
00:17:08Beautiful Bobbie knocked him down with a shoulder block.
00:17:10Comes at him with a fist.
00:17:14Watts came to fight here
00:17:16as beautiful Bobbie goes to the sanctuary
00:17:18of his corner where Hayes and Anderson are.
00:17:20Now Hayes wants to speak to the
00:17:22referee. Well, you can see
00:17:24right now that the rookie Watts,
00:17:26I think he's overly pumped up.
00:17:28He needs to low-key it a little bit
00:17:30more right here. Uh-oh.
00:17:32Here's a tag to whom I
00:17:34consider one of the most dangerous men in
00:17:36wrestling.
00:17:38Arn Anderson didn't earn
00:17:40the name The Enforcer for
00:17:42nothing. He is a
00:17:44tremendous athlete, and I'm sure he will want
00:17:46to keep this very, this pace
00:17:48very methodical, Jess.
00:17:52Anderson with a wrist lock in control.
00:17:54It's countered by Eric Watts.
00:17:56And Watts makes the tag to the powerhouse
00:17:58in Tokyo, Kintsuki Sasaki.
00:18:06And Sasaki back to the arm.
00:18:10But The Enforcer drives him into the corner.
00:18:12Whoa, Sasaki got out of the corner.
00:18:14Smart move by the young Japanese wrestler.
00:18:16He don't want to get caught in the corner
00:18:18in tag team wrestling. That's where the damage
00:18:20is done. And Anderson makes another tag
00:18:22to Beautiful Bobby.
00:18:24Now it's Eaton and Sasaki.
00:18:26Sasaki, good move
00:18:28into the headlock now. He's a, as we said,
00:18:30a very powerful, strong, compact
00:18:32athlete. Good shoulder lock. Gets the momentum
00:18:34from the ropes. Beautiful Bobby
00:18:36took him up and over, but Sasaki shows
00:18:38great agility. Comes back with that dropkick.
00:18:40And Beautiful Bobby has not been
00:18:42extremely productive here offensively
00:18:44in the early going. Well, Sasaki flipped
00:18:46over and broke that with his feet.
00:18:48Got up immediately. Beautiful Bobby
00:18:50thought he had him down, but Sasaki hits him with
00:18:52the dropkick. And Beautiful Bobby
00:18:54and Aaron Anderson got to regroup a little bit here.
00:19:00Sasaki forcing Eaton back into the
00:19:02corner. Nails him with those chops.
00:19:04Hammering away
00:19:06at Beautiful Bobby.
00:19:08He nails Anderson, who came over to try to get involved.
00:19:10It's Eaton with a reversal. No, it's Sasaki
00:19:12reversing it, taking Eaton back to the corner.
00:19:14But Anderson pulled Eaton out of the corner.
00:19:16And Sasaki found nothing but turnbuckle.
00:19:18And now he's going to find more than turnbuckle.
00:19:20He's going to find the floor.
00:19:24Hayes with that
00:19:26a cheap one on the outside.
00:19:28The referee being detained with Beautiful Bobby.
00:19:30I thought it might be Anderson
00:19:32with a cheap shot, but it was Hayes.
00:19:36Well, Michael Hayes is a tough guy, you know,
00:19:38and sometimes it gets the best of him
00:19:40sitting outside the ring, and he's got to get himself
00:19:42involved. But the main thing when he
00:19:44does that, he doesn't dare let the referee
00:19:46see him. Whoa, and he got another shot in there
00:19:48when the referee was with Aaron Anderson.
00:19:50And walks around.
00:19:52The referee's got to restrain him.
00:19:54And it's Anderson driving Sasaki's
00:19:56head into the top turnbuckle.
00:19:58Now wrecking the youngster's face
00:20:00along the ropes. Anderson and Eaton
00:20:02with some double
00:20:04teaming there.
00:20:08And Anderson with the armbar.
00:20:10Anderson looks to be having a little
00:20:12problem with his left knee.
00:20:14Well, it's heavily taped.
00:20:16Very, very heavily taped.
00:20:18Eaton misses a clothesline.
00:20:20And Sasaki caught him!
00:20:22That took him to around that
00:20:24360, that big power slam.
00:20:26Both men now are down. Sasaki
00:20:28able to make the tag to Watts.
00:20:30And Watts is in.
00:20:32And Watts coming in, firing
00:20:34right hands, fires Beautiful Bobby into
00:20:36the buckle. Catches him.
00:20:38Beautiful monkey flip into a
00:20:40pin. Oh, and he's hammering him with the right hand.
00:20:42I thought he'd go for a pin, but he just
00:20:44wants to punish him. He's got to be careful
00:20:46not to be disqualified here. The referee reaches
00:20:48five. It's a disqualification.
00:20:50Irish whip to the
00:20:52middle of the ropes. High elevation on that
00:20:54back body drop by Eric Watts. Anderson
00:20:56comes in. He's nailed by Watts' right hand.
00:20:58Sasaki in.
00:21:02Watts and Sasaki
00:21:04going for the cover!
00:21:06And he got a near fall.
00:21:08You know, the referee should not
00:21:10be counting anything with four guys
00:21:12in the ring, Jim Ross. He needs to get
00:21:14control.
00:21:16Watts has been training with Hiro Matsuda,
00:21:18the NWA champion.
00:21:20Masahiro, Chono, and Sasaki
00:21:22working on his submission moves.
00:21:24He caught him with
00:21:26the right hand.
00:21:28Eaton came off the top, and he was nailed.
00:21:30And Eric
00:21:32set him up. Could be going for the
00:21:34STF. He's got it.
00:21:36He's got it hooked. He's got
00:21:38a submission.
00:21:40STF, the STF, the submission
00:21:42move, and beautiful Bobby has given it up.
00:21:44Ladies and gentlemen,
00:21:46here are your winners, the team of
00:21:48Eric Watts and Kensuke
00:21:50Sasaki.
00:21:52So the training with all the great
00:21:54Japanese athletes pays off for Eric
00:21:56Watts. The adversaries
00:21:58will not collect the bounty here tonight.
00:22:00A submission victory with the STF.
00:22:02They at least have got three rounds of
00:22:04boxing to come. And standing by
00:22:06with Johnny B. Baird is
00:22:08Tony Shabani back in the locker room.
00:22:12Okay, Jim, thanks very much. You're exactly
00:22:14right. Three rounds of boxing still to come.
00:22:16The second for Johnny B. Baird tonight will be
00:22:18Teddy Long, and this man looks ready.
00:22:20Well, let me say something about Scottie Flamingo.
00:22:22Now, I can't take anything away from this man's
00:22:24wrestling credibility because he has certainly
00:22:26proved to be one of the toughest men in WCW.
00:22:28But Scottie Flamingo, tonight
00:22:30you're going to find out that you made a bad mistake
00:22:32when you signed for three rounds of
00:22:34boxing with Johnny B. Baird. Boxing is
00:22:36right down your alley, Johnny. Oh, hush, Tony.
00:22:38Scottie Flamingo, you knocked me out on national
00:22:40TV with a roll of coins because
00:22:42you weren't man enough to do it with your fist.
00:22:44Well, tonight, we've got three rounds
00:22:46of boxing, and I'll tell you something.
00:22:48Today is my day. Tonight is my night.
00:22:50I'm here to fight, so I'll
00:22:52go to life because I'm a
00:22:54bad man!
00:22:56Okay, there is no doubt about it that Johnny
00:22:58B. Baird is ready. Three rounds of
00:23:00boxing. That match will be coming up next,
00:23:02and fans, when we come back before the match,
00:23:04I'll go to Scottie Flamingo's
00:23:06locker room. Stay with us right here on
00:23:08TBS.
00:23:22Welcome back, everyone, to the Clash of
00:23:24the Champions. Before we see this three rounds
00:23:26of boxing, Tony Schiavone standing by
00:23:28in the locker room with Scottie Flamingo.
00:23:30Okay, thanks
00:23:32very much, Jim. Yes, we are in Scottie Flamingo's
00:23:34locker room. You see he has certainly his
00:23:36entourage with him, including
00:23:38a man who knows a lot about
00:23:40boxing, a lot about the odds, Vinny Vegas.
00:23:42You know, Tony, with all this hype
00:23:44and hysteria right now, hey,
00:23:46I know I'm standing in Macon, Georgia, but
00:23:48it feels like fight night Vegas
00:23:50to the Venman. You know, I just got off
00:23:52the phone, and they're telling me the odds
00:23:54are 75-1. 75-1,
00:23:56my man eats a canvas.
00:23:58Ludicrous. Ludicrous. Ain't gonna
00:24:00happen. The boys in Vegas put up
00:24:02too much time and too much money
00:24:04for my boy to lose.
00:24:06They're in here for the sand. They're in here for the
00:24:08Caesar Palace.
00:24:10They're in here for everywhere.
00:24:12I'm sorry, I'm very excited.
00:24:14The man has got everything going for him.
00:24:16You know, they say Bobbik had it.
00:24:18You know, they say Jerry Cooney
00:24:20had it. You know, they say
00:24:22Tommy Morrison's got it.
00:24:24Hey, this kid's got
00:24:26it all. He's got the jaw, Shavado.
00:24:28He's got the heart of La Mata.
00:24:30Look who's kneeling down next to him.
00:24:32Maybe you've seen this promoter before.
00:24:34He's a personal friend of ours, eh?
00:24:36Hey, he ain't here wishing him well.
00:24:38No, he's talking pay-per-view.
00:24:40Riddick Bowe? Hey, I don't
00:24:42know. Tonight, here in
00:24:44Macon, hey, my man might be
00:24:46outgunned. He might be out
00:24:48boxed, but the Vegas Connection,
00:24:50Scotty Flamingo, never
00:24:52out boxed. We're ready to go
00:24:54with three rounds of boxing. Let's go to the ring.
00:24:56Ladies and
00:24:58gentlemen, the following contest
00:25:00on TBS will
00:25:02consist of three two-minute rounds
00:25:04of boxing with
00:25:06one-minute rest periods between
00:25:08rounds. Introducing
00:25:10first, from
00:25:12Macon, Georgia,
00:25:14weighing 235
00:25:16pounds, accompanied by
00:25:18Teddy Long, is
00:25:20Johnny B.
00:25:22Bad!
00:25:24Teddy Long
00:25:26will second Johnny B. Bad in this
00:25:28contest. Three
00:25:30rounds of boxing, two-minute rounds.
00:25:32There'll be a one-minute rest period
00:25:34between rounds of this matchup.
00:25:36Johnny B. Bad, yes, is
00:25:38flamboyant as ever. Looks like some of your old ropes.
00:25:40Absolutely. Feathered boas.
00:25:42Takes after my own heart.
00:25:44Does that have anything to do with the selection of the ring girl?
00:25:46If you did, you did well.
00:25:56Fans love this
00:25:58man here in his hometown
00:26:00as we go back up
00:26:02to Gary Michael
00:26:04Capetta.
00:26:06And ladies and gentlemen, his
00:26:08opponent, to be accompanied
00:26:10to the ring by the Vegas
00:26:12Connection of Diamond Dallas Page
00:26:14and Vinny Vegas
00:26:16from Palm Beach, Florida.
00:26:18Weighing 235
00:26:20pounds,
00:26:22Scotty
00:26:24Flamingo.
00:26:28So apparently
00:26:30the Vegas Connection
00:26:32with a business arrangement with Scotty
00:26:34Flamingo for this fight, Jess.
00:26:36And I've got to think that 75
00:26:38to 100, that man's the underdog.
00:26:40That might be conservative.
00:26:42Hey, I'll tell you what, at 75
00:26:44to 1 odds, that's the kind of money
00:26:46where I would bet on Flamingo, because if
00:26:48he scores the upset, you're going to go to
00:26:50the bank big time.
00:26:52You know what? I want to know,
00:26:54Jim Roscoe, was that really who I
00:26:56thought it was in the dressing room with that hairdo?
00:27:00Just never know around this place, Jess.
00:27:02You just never know. I mean, there's
00:27:04only one man that got hair like that, Jim
00:27:06Ross. You know who it is, and I know
00:27:08who it is.
00:27:12And it will be round one.
00:27:14Now, now, stick to your
00:27:16announcing, Ross. Get your
00:27:18eyes off of that. Look at the ring card
00:27:20now, not below it.
00:27:22It's round one.
00:27:24Well, I'm human.
00:27:26All right, well,
00:27:28Johnny B. Badd, who was,
00:27:30had a phenomenal record as
00:27:32an amateur boxer, five times
00:27:34Golden Glove champion
00:27:36in the state of New York.
00:27:40Spent a lot of time. And I think
00:27:42the biggest victory he ever got was
00:27:44over Razor Ruddock.
00:27:46And that ain't no slouch.
00:27:48Oh, you're right. You're right about that.
00:27:50So, Johnny B. Badd, the decided favorite
00:27:52in this contest, with his old manager
00:27:54Theodore R. Long, and
00:27:58about ready to go here.
00:28:02And there is
00:28:04the bell for round one, a two-minute
00:28:06round in this particular situation,
00:28:08and we're ready
00:28:10to go here.
00:28:12Johnny B. Badd
00:28:14getting that left jab in, and
00:28:16Flamingo, after that flurry,
00:28:18knocked out of the ring. He was jabbed out of the ring.
00:28:20What a flurry in the early
00:28:22going here by Johnny B. Badd.
00:28:24Well, I'll tell you what, I don't think Scotty Flamingo
00:28:26was totally prepared for the quickness
00:28:28of those left hands.
00:28:30Ooh!
00:28:32He got the right hand, and he knocks him down!
00:28:34Straight right hand
00:28:36to the head, and Flamingo down.
00:28:38And you notice
00:28:40Badd follows it up with a little ollie shuffle
00:28:42in there. Scores with the
00:28:44big right hand, does a little shuffle, and I'll tell you
00:28:46what, Flamingo's in trouble. He's staggered
00:28:48early. This may not get to the second.
00:28:50Hard body shots
00:28:52by Johnny B. Badd, and
00:28:54Flamingo clenches, holds on.
00:28:56Well, that's something you gotta do.
00:28:58Oh, he went to the eyes. He raked them with the
00:29:00glove laces.
00:29:02The referee's
00:29:04gotta get Big Benny
00:29:06Vegas off the apron.
00:29:08Yes!
00:29:10Good grief!
00:29:12It's supposed to be boxing.
00:29:14That's right. I don't know if the referee didn't see that,
00:29:16but I guess he's gonna call that a knockdown.
00:29:18Whoa, there's
00:29:20a rabbit punch with both gloves
00:29:22across the back of the neck.
00:29:24Overhand rights now.
00:29:26Johnny B. Badd in trouble.
00:29:28Flamingo got the right hand in the midsection.
00:29:30Another right hand to the face, and Johnny B. Badd
00:29:32is in trouble here.
00:29:34Straight right hand to the nose.
00:29:40Backed up the jab in.
00:29:42Flamingo missed it to the right.
00:29:44A little sharp jab. A right
00:29:46cross. And now
00:29:48it is Scottie Flamingo in trouble.
00:29:52And look at this. He's hammering him.
00:29:54Flamingo is down.
00:29:56And that's the end of round one.
00:29:58Flamingo
00:30:00could have been saved
00:30:02by the bell there, Jess.
00:30:04Well, here in Georgia, we don't have the count
00:30:06after the bell. You can be saved
00:30:08by the bell here in WCW.
00:30:10He's fine! He's fine!
00:30:12Let's go up and listen to this, Jim Ross.
00:30:14What is this?
00:30:16They're pouring water in his glove.
00:30:18What are they doing?
00:30:20They're pouring water in his glove.
00:30:22They're pouring water in his glove.
00:30:24What are they doing?
00:30:26They're filling his glove with water.
00:30:28Wait a minute. Diamond Dallas Page, don't you understand?
00:30:30He's supposed to give him the water in the mouth,
00:30:32not in the glove.
00:30:34My gosh, they're filling that glove
00:30:36full of water.
00:30:40Page in Vegas.
00:30:42Feberson working over Scottie Flamingo.
00:30:44Johnny B. Badd in full
00:30:46control here.
00:30:48As we get ready to start
00:30:50round number two...
00:30:52You're a bad man!
00:30:54I'm a bad man!
00:30:56I'm a bad man!
00:30:58All right.
00:31:00Well, Johnny B. Badd, while he's
00:31:02being a bad man, they're trying to get...
00:31:04There's the bell for round two.
00:31:06And I'm not so sure that...
00:31:08I don't know if Flamingo can get out of the corner.
00:31:10I don't know if he can get off the stool.
00:31:12He's trying.
00:31:14But what they put...
00:31:16I don't know if he can hold that one hand up.
00:31:18I'm putting all kinds of
00:31:20water in there.
00:31:22Another left by Padd.
00:31:24Another quick left hand. He follows up
00:31:26with a series of jabs. Flamingo's in big trouble.
00:31:28It's a matter of time right now.
00:31:30If Page up there
00:31:32to distract Johnny B. Badd...
00:31:34Oh, gosh!
00:31:36Good Lord! Did you hear that?
00:31:38That glove was full of water!
00:31:42It's like a fuel pump!
00:31:44It's loaded!
00:31:46He has sent Flamingo to an opposite corner.
00:31:48Johnny B. Badd
00:31:50got caught right in the face, Jess,
00:31:52with that loaded glove!
00:31:54I don't know...
00:31:56I don't know if Badd's gonna get up.
00:32:02He's not gonna make it!
00:32:04I don't believe what we're seeing!
00:32:06It's over! Flamingo wins it!
00:32:08He wins the second round knockout!
00:32:10Ladies and gentlemen,
00:32:12the winner of the bout
00:32:14by a technical knockout,
00:32:16Scotty Flamingo!
00:32:20Flamingo, I don't think,
00:32:22even knows he's won it!
00:32:24Let's go back
00:32:26and see what happened.
00:32:28Boom! There's the right hand by Flamingo
00:32:30with the water-filled glove.
00:32:32Probably added another pound or two
00:32:34to that glove. Knocks Johnny B. Badd out.
00:32:36Referee counts him out.
00:32:38Major upset. Ross, did you bet on this?
00:32:40Badd, we'll talk about the lethal lottery
00:32:42of Starrcade next on PBS.
00:33:00Starrcade 92 Battle Boat comes your way
00:33:02on Monday, December 28th on pay-per-view.
00:33:04Before we have the lethal lottery
00:33:06drawing for the first four names,
00:33:08we have a special feature on Starrcade 92.
00:33:12Starrcade 91 was one of the most
00:33:14exciting and unique events in the history
00:33:16of world championship wrestling
00:33:18with the first-ever Battle Bowl and lethal lottery.
00:33:20Battle Bowl is a six-team man battle royal,
00:33:22but to advance there,
00:33:24WCW's top athletes have to compete
00:33:26in tag-team matches based on the lethal lottery.
00:33:28Random drawings are held
00:33:30and partners assigned based on the luck of the draw.
00:33:32Hey!
00:33:34Hey!
00:33:40His tag-team partner,
00:33:42get a hold of this, Abdullah the Butcher!
00:34:00Their opponents are going to be
00:34:02Ryan!
00:34:06His partner is going to be
00:34:08beautiful Bobby Eaton!
00:34:10The athletes have to function as a team
00:34:12to win their match and advance.
00:34:14This made for some unique combinations
00:34:16and exciting match-ups
00:34:18in last year's Starrcade.
00:34:26Got him waist-locked.
00:34:28Tried to go for a tombstone piledriver,
00:34:30but Eaton blocked it.
00:34:32Abdullah comes in from behind,
00:34:34and now Pillman hammering Abdullah.
00:34:36I've never seen anything like this at all.
00:34:38Ever.
00:34:42I'm surprised that
00:34:44Dangerously and Medusa are not out here.
00:34:46High elevation by Sting
00:34:48on beautiful Bobby.
00:34:50That Pillman is a ball of fire.
00:34:52Now Abdullah has his partner again.
00:34:54And Cactus Jack is in!
00:34:56Oh, there's Cactus with that stick.
00:34:58And...
00:35:00He and his partner sting the dropkick
00:35:02on Cactus.
00:35:04Beautiful Bobby.
00:35:06Barely able
00:35:08to stand. Sting off the top!
00:35:10Can he get it? One,
00:35:12two, three, yeah!
00:35:14Sting, and they're the winners!
00:35:16The winners of the match advancing to Battle Bowl,
00:35:18Abdullah the Butcher
00:35:20and Sting!
00:35:22Once all tag matches are completed, as dictated by the random drawing,
00:35:24the winners compete
00:35:26in Battle Bowl, a 16-man battle royal
00:35:28where over the top of the rope
00:35:30to the floor means elimination.
00:35:34At the conclusion of
00:35:36Starrcade 91, Sting battled
00:35:38tremendous odds, survived WCW's
00:35:40bets, and became the first
00:35:42ever Battle Bowl champion.
00:35:44Starrcade 92 Battle Bowl
00:35:46will be held in Atlanta's Omni on
00:35:48pay-per-view Monday, December 28th.
00:35:50But the drama and suspense surrounding
00:35:52Lethal Lottery begins now,
00:35:54with the first drawing to determine the first
00:35:56four names that will make up the
00:35:58initial two teams in Starrcade
00:36:0092.
00:36:04Alright, Missy Hyatt, we have the
00:36:06honor of choosing the first two teams.
00:36:10Open the envelope.
00:36:12And the first man is
00:36:14Cactus Jack. There you
00:36:16got it! The first man is Cactus
00:36:18Jack. Who will Cactus Jack's
00:36:20partner be?
00:36:22Johnny B. Badd.
00:36:24Wow! Cactus
00:36:26Jack and Johnny B. Badd will be the
00:36:28first team at Starrcade.
00:36:32Dangerous Dan
00:36:34Spivey! They will face
00:36:36Dangerous Dan Spivey, and who
00:36:38will Spivey's partner be?
00:36:42Heavy Metal Van
00:36:44Hammer. Wow! There you got
00:36:46it! The first two teams have been
00:36:48named, and at Starrcade
00:36:50the rest of the lineup will
00:36:52happen that night.
00:36:54Thank you, Missy. Job well done.
00:36:56And let's start a couple of blows, and I'mma put you on your ruff. Chop, chop, bam, then a left, right, left, and a kick, and a pin, to the one, two, three, then it's over with. So give that bell a whack, and I'mma put this man on his back.
00:37:18Ladies and gentlemen, the following
00:37:20contest on the Clash of the Champions,
00:37:22the Ghetto Odds Match,
00:37:24three men versus two men.
00:37:26Introducing
00:37:28first, soon to be making their
00:37:30way to the ring,
00:37:32first yet to be identified
00:37:34partner of...
00:37:36Well, you better get out of there,
00:37:38I can identify that you're in trouble, Gary
00:37:40Capeta, Ron Simmons,
00:37:42and some guy that we don't even...
00:37:44Who is that guy, Jess? I got no idea
00:37:46who he is. All I know is the
00:37:48champ brought him in, the champ said he'd have a
00:37:50partner, and there he is. Capetsky
00:37:52didn't tell us who he is, so I don't know what to
00:37:54call him. Cactus Jack, the Barbarian
00:37:56and Atlas having to huddle up out here, three
00:37:58men versus two, it's Ron
00:38:00Simmons and some young man.
00:38:02Well, Simmons, way all the way over!
00:38:06Simmons has
00:38:08assisted his partner with a high-risk
00:38:10move over the top, a crossbody
00:38:12on all three men.
00:38:16And again, Jim Ross, I've never
00:38:18seen this guy before, and
00:38:20I mean, I've traveled pretty much everywhere
00:38:22in wrestling here in the United States, I have no idea
00:38:24who this man is. But
00:38:26the champ, Ron Simmons, found him, and I'll tell
00:38:28you what, he went over the top rope
00:38:30like he's done it many, many times
00:38:32before.
00:38:34Well, as we all know, it was scheduled to be
00:38:36Robbie Walker and Ron Simmons.
00:38:38I do not know the story behind this one.
00:38:40Walker obviously not here,
00:38:42and Simmons in there with the Barbarian, the
00:38:44World's Heavyweight Champion.
00:38:46Now getting caught in the midsection by this big
00:38:48Barbarian, clubbing right hands.
00:38:50Simmons
00:38:52reverses the Irish whip.
00:38:54Hip block, the Barbarian
00:38:56up and over. He dropkicks,
00:38:58Atlas coming in.
00:39:00Cactus Jack, caught a bit
00:39:02right hand, and Simmons
00:39:04takes him down. Ron Simmons,
00:39:06the king of the ring here.
00:39:10Well, I'll tell you what, Simmons and his partner,
00:39:12the nameless man in the corner,
00:39:14we don't know who he is.
00:39:16The champ doing a good job right there,
00:39:18taking on all three of the opponents.
00:39:20And here's the tag.
00:39:22What are you going to call him, Jim?
00:39:24I really don't know. I don't know his name.
00:39:28Ron Simmons' partner
00:39:30again. Sounds good to me. That's what we'll call him.
00:39:32Cactus Jack catches
00:39:34him in the midsection, and a big clubbing
00:39:36right hand. Well, I'll tell you something,
00:39:38this is a situation
00:39:40three men versus two
00:39:42that Simmons wanted.
00:39:44Talked a lot about it.
00:39:48Nice move. Caught him
00:39:50with that forearm. Good move.
00:39:52A lot of explosion there from Ron Simmons'
00:39:54partner. I'll tell you, Simmons' partner,
00:39:56look at this. Whoa!
00:39:58He caught Cactus in the head with his foot.
00:40:00Did a complete flip off the top
00:40:02turnbuckle. Crossbody.
00:40:04Cactus Jack. A half a
00:40:06count away there. A dropkick.
00:40:08And Ron Simmons' unknown
00:40:10partner makes the tag, but we know
00:40:12who this man is. This man's
00:40:14the world champion. You better believe it.
00:40:16I know his buddies
00:40:18from Florida State, all his guys, the Atlanta
00:40:20Falcons watching this one. Big Ron
00:40:22Simmons, he is the man.
00:40:24Coming back with those right hands
00:40:26and lefts. Backing Cactus Jack in the corner.
00:40:28The Irish whip is reversed by Cactus.
00:40:30Simmons catches
00:40:32the bad man from New Mexico.
00:40:34Takes him down.
00:40:36And Cactus is in
00:40:38trouble now. They need to
00:40:40make a move. They got three guys in their
00:40:42court. There's the move.
00:40:44Tony Atlas hooking Cactus Jack. Simmons
00:40:46going for the dropkick. Nobody home.
00:40:48Crashes on the mat. Here comes the big
00:40:50Barbarian to do some damage.
00:40:52Power elbow drive
00:40:54from the 300-pound Barbarian.
00:40:56Goes for it again, and it finds its mark.
00:40:58Lateral press. He's got the leg hook,
00:41:00and he got a near fall on the world's heavyweight champion.
00:41:04Another tag made. You're seeing
00:41:06surprisingly, surprising to me
00:41:08the teamwork from Cactus. Cactus
00:41:10Jack-led trio. The headbutt
00:41:12by big, powerful Tony Atlas
00:41:14hammers away Ron Simmons in the corner.
00:41:18Another tag
00:41:20made. You know, I'm still amazed
00:41:22though, Jim Ross, why the champ would get
00:41:24involved in this type of match, three
00:41:26against two. I mean, it's tough enough to go
00:41:28two against two, not having a third
00:41:30guy in there. Cactus Jack just
00:41:32knocked Simmons' partner right off into the floor.
00:41:34Referee's got to restrain
00:41:36that young man. In the meantime,
00:41:38look at the double team effort
00:41:40by Cactus Jack and the Barbarian
00:41:42on the world's champion.
00:41:44There's three of them. I'd call it
00:41:46a triple team in the corner. Here
00:41:48comes big Tony into the ring. Tony Atlas.
00:41:50Look at the guns on this guy.
00:41:54Ron Simmons
00:41:56being physically challenged
00:41:58here by this trio of
00:42:00big, tough men, all over
00:42:02300 pounds.
00:42:06Simmons' head
00:42:08rammed into the knee
00:42:10of the Barbarian who gets the tag.
00:42:14Simmons elevated there.
00:42:16Barbarian got right under him, Jess,
00:42:18and now the lateral press. He's going for it,
00:42:20and he got two. Well, the one thing
00:42:22in Simmons' favor, this is a tag match
00:42:24so his title is not in jeopardy
00:42:26if the champ gets beat.
00:42:28That mare.
00:42:30And they make the tag. Here comes the leader
00:42:32of this diabolical
00:42:34threesome, Cactus Jack,
00:42:36going for the high-risk move. We know
00:42:38he'll put his whole body on the line.
00:42:40And Simmons caught him.
00:42:42A foot right to the face.
00:42:44Cactus missing some teeth anyway.
00:42:46And Simmons makes the tag.
00:42:48Tony Atlas is in.
00:42:50Spinning martial arts kick.
00:42:52A drop kick. Right up in their face.
00:42:54Another drop kick.
00:42:56Staggers the Barbarian.
00:42:58And Simmons is back in.
00:43:00And look at this. Simmons and his partner
00:43:02are taking on all three of them.
00:43:04The champ's over. Got two of them tied up
00:43:06in the corner if he can hold on.
00:43:08Atlas fires Simmons' partner out to the floor.
00:43:10And the champ's in big trouble now.
00:43:12He's getting triple-teamed in there, Jim Ross.
00:43:14Ron Simmons said it himself.
00:43:16It's a ghetto wads match.
00:43:18The Full Nelson. The kick.
00:43:20But Simmons ducked.
00:43:22Atlas got kicked right in the face
00:43:24by the Barbarian.
00:43:26Simmons takes...
00:43:28Simmons takes...
00:43:30Cactus out. Oh, what a move!
00:43:32Right now! Right now!
00:43:34Right now!
00:43:36This is going to match
00:43:38the team of the
00:43:40WWE World Heavyweight Champion
00:43:42Ron Simmons!
00:43:46What a phenomenal move!
00:43:48And we don't even know his name!
00:43:50One of the most breathtaking maneuvers
00:43:52I have ever seen!
00:43:54And we don't even know his name!
00:43:56We stand by and try to talk to him.
00:43:58Look at this again, man!
00:44:00In slow motion! Unbelievable!
00:44:02Jesse Ventura!
00:44:04Who is this man, Jim?
00:44:06Champ!
00:44:08Champ!
00:44:10Champ!
00:44:12Hey, I'll tell you what.
00:44:14Tremendous victory. Tremendous move.
00:44:16But I gotta ask you something.
00:44:18Jim Ross and I have no idea...
00:44:20Who is this guy, champion?
00:44:22His actions speak for themselves.
00:44:24Oh, my goodness!
00:44:28I told Cactus Jack. I told the Barbarians.
00:44:30I told Tony Anthony.
00:44:32It makes no difference to Ron Simmons
00:44:34what the odds are. The odds have been against Ron Simmons
00:44:36all his life.
00:44:38And I fought my way back to the top.
00:44:40Just like I did tonight.
00:44:42This man here is one of the up-and-coming
00:44:44stars in professional wrestling.
00:44:46This man has what it takes to go
00:44:48all the way to the top.
00:44:50This is what I was speaking of. My secret weapon.
00:44:52Who is this two-cold Scorpio?
00:44:54Tell him, brother. Two-cold Scorpio.
00:44:56That's right. Two-cold Scorpio.
00:44:58First of all, I would like to say
00:45:00thanks for my man Ron Simmons
00:45:02for bringing me out as your tag-team partner.
00:45:04It's a great pleasure
00:45:06to be down here with the heavyweight champion
00:45:08of the world, Ron Simmons.
00:45:10You understand me?
00:45:12I'll tell you what.
00:45:14This goes for all the wrestlers
00:45:16in the WCW.
00:45:18If you guys want to fight,
00:45:20if you want to wrestle,
00:45:22anywhere, anyplace.
00:45:24I'll tell you what.
00:45:26I am here, and I'm here to stay.
00:45:28And I'm going to try to win
00:45:30like we did tonight.
00:45:32Very good. There you see the champ
00:45:34and his new partner.
00:45:36And we'll be back right after these messages.
00:45:50The Clash of Champions continues,
00:45:52and here's a special video look

00:47:38We have so much to the King of Cable competition
00:47:40still to come. The last time we saw you and Sting nose-to-nose,
00:47:42very frankly, he had the last laugh.
00:47:44That's right.
00:47:46Sting's got one up on me verbally.
00:47:48But now it's my time
00:47:50to get a little gratification
00:47:52in a physical fashion.
00:47:54For me, it's going to be one more glorious victory

00:50:48You're a woman.

01:06:42those three, Jim Ross. I think that's a very
01:06:44valid point, knowing their past
01:06:46histories. Collar-elbow tie-up,
01:06:48and Rhodes breaks the rules first, breaks the eyes,
01:06:50the fist right to the ribs.
01:06:52Ram Stinghead into the

01:07:08Ravishing Rick Roode already
01:07:10going to work on the back of the neck
01:07:12and the head of Sting. We know Roode, the master
01:07:14of the Roode awakening. He can really put you

01:07:18the U.S. heavyweight champion.
01:07:20He's also the master of that right there.
01:07:22Six girls at ringside
01:07:24just fainted, Ross. I saw them.
01:07:28Roode with the forearm,
01:07:30catches Sting again in the head. He is
01:07:32attacking that one-up part
01:07:34of the anatomy. Sting reverses the Irish whip
01:07:36as they go left to right, and he takes him all the way
01:07:38out and breaks him all the way
01:07:40down with a great deal of velocity.
01:07:42The Stinger now is trying to
01:07:44reassert himself, Jess. Well, Sting
01:07:46definitely scored a point right there with the
01:07:48judges. Irish whip again,
01:07:50far side, and again.
01:07:52A gut buster.
01:07:54Maybe caught him in the ribs as well.
01:07:56I'm not real sure.
01:07:58High impact move by the Stinger
01:08:00as he turns this crowd over.
01:08:04You know what's interesting?
01:08:06He's going after probably the strongest
01:08:08part of Roode's body, and that's
01:08:10the ab area. I mean,
01:08:12nobody's got a set of abs like Ravishing
01:08:14Rick Roode.
01:08:16Sting just punting those ribs.
01:08:18Scott Fullage there.
01:08:20He just kicked him right in the ribs
01:08:22and stomping away there.
01:08:24So Sting
01:08:26coming back with a
01:08:28tremendous amount of
01:08:30aggressiveness,
01:08:32keeping it very basic
01:08:34at this point in the contest.
01:08:38Shoulder block again to the abdomen of
01:08:40Ravishing Rick Roode, and Roode
01:08:42in a lot of trouble here in the very
01:08:44early going.
01:08:46And Sting
01:08:48pulling the page out of Roode's
01:08:50playbook.
01:08:52I don't think he's going to get a
01:08:54point for that, though. He didn't do it
01:08:56as good as Roode does it.
01:08:58He was just
01:09:00trying to make a point, obviously,
01:09:02with Ravishing Rick Roode. That's not
01:09:04really Sting's style. And again,
01:09:06that kick right to the ribs.
01:09:08Sting has his focus on the
01:09:10ribs
01:09:12of Ravishing Rick Roode.
01:09:14Front facelock.
01:09:16Looks like he's going to set up for a suplex here.
01:09:18Got him.
01:09:20Face first, takes him right back down.
01:09:24And there you see Judge Larry
01:09:26Zabisko, the cruncher, scoring a
01:09:28point right there. You've seen him write it down.
01:09:30Sting on top, lateral press.
01:09:32Only got one. Roode able to kick out.
01:09:34Sting unable to neutralize the legs
01:09:36on that particular pending
01:09:38predicament. Again, the front facelock
01:09:40by the nose.
01:09:42Sting, again, takes him. Ribs and abdomen
01:09:44first to the canvas.
01:09:46Well, Roode started off quick
01:09:48for about the first minute and a half
01:09:50of this bout, but it's been all the Stinger
01:09:52there. He drives the foot into the rib
01:09:54area again. Look at that
01:09:56intestinal fortitude of Roode, though,
01:09:58fighting his way back up to his feet.
01:10:00Sting, again,
01:10:02takes him.
01:10:04Sting, again,
01:10:06takes him.
01:10:08Sting, again,
01:10:10drives his way back up to his feet.
01:10:12Roode really went ballistic
01:10:14this past Saturday night
01:10:16on TBS with his confrontation
01:10:18with Sting. They've had a great
01:10:20rivalry since Roode arrived
01:10:22in WCW when he won
01:10:24the U.S. title from the Stinger.
01:10:28Sting with the right hand.
01:10:30Buried it into the midsection.
01:10:32Takes Roode down again.
01:10:34Roode able to kick out before
01:10:36Sting could really get the pending predicament
01:10:38in place there, Jess.
01:10:40You know, interesting situation. Obviously,
01:10:42Sting is ahead right now. There he goes
01:10:44for a reverse chin lock right there, sitting back
01:10:46on the small of Roode's back, but
01:10:48this may be a smart move.
01:10:50If he can stall it out with these
01:10:52type of holds, he's definitely
01:10:54ahead, and I think he'll definitely get the nod
01:10:56from the judges if it goes to 20 minutes.
01:10:58There you see Hiro Matsuda,
01:11:00formerly NWA
01:11:02junior heavyweight champion of the world,
01:11:04and Sting works in the lower back
01:11:06of Ravishing Rick Roode in a move
01:11:08much like a camel clutch we've seen
01:11:10athletes over the years.
01:11:12Like a
01:11:14Skandar Agbarn Iron Sheik that used
01:11:16that particular move for a great deal
01:11:18of success, almost the same principle
01:11:20as the Boston Crab,
01:11:22working on the lower back and the neck in this case.
01:11:24And now the referees
01:11:26got it. Whoa, and look at that. Drives
01:11:28down into the back of Ravishing
01:11:30Rick Roode, and I'll tell you, Roode's in major
01:11:32trouble here. Sting again with that lateral
01:11:34press, and Roode this time
01:11:36got out of the two
01:11:38count, as the referee shows us.
01:11:40Maybe Roode's game plan is off.
01:11:42There's no Medusa here tonight.
01:11:44Sting trying to set
01:11:46the abdominal stretch. Really
01:11:48doesn't have it set in yet, Jess.
01:11:50He's got
01:11:52it hooked, but he doesn't have it hooked well.
01:11:54He needs to get... Oh, but look at that. He drives
01:11:56the forearm back to the abs,
01:11:58back to the ribs again
01:12:00on Ravishing Rick Roode. Roode needs to do
01:12:02something. He needs a major move here
01:12:04to change the tide of this match.
01:12:06Roode's got to be looking for a big counter move here
01:12:08as Sting continues to work
01:12:10on his ribs and his abdomen.
01:12:12Roode, that chiseled
01:12:14frame of his.
01:12:18Roode able
01:12:20to hip lock him over in a counter.
01:12:22Rakes the eyes.
01:12:24Roode has blatantly raked the eyes
01:12:26there, and the referee telling him about it.
01:12:28Well, he had to do it. He had to do something
01:12:30to get Sting off of him.
01:12:32And I don't care how big you are, you get a
01:12:34thumb to the eye, it's going to slow you down.
01:12:36Roode now
01:12:38fires up with those two heavy right hands,
01:12:40trying to reassert
01:12:42himself offensively, and again
01:12:44taking Sting to the top turnbuckle.
01:12:50Hear the impact as Sting's face
01:12:52comes in contact
01:12:54viciously with the top turnbuckle,
01:12:56and now Roode working on the
01:12:58lower back as he hammers
01:13:00him there,
01:13:02executing that forearm right to the kidney
01:13:04area.
01:13:06You know what else is going to be unique about this?
01:13:08What do the judges like?
01:13:10You have no idea. Do they score a point
01:13:12because of a forearm? Do they give more
01:13:14points to a good hold, or a
01:13:16move like a suplex? These guys
01:13:18have no idea what is going to please
01:13:20the three referees, or I
01:13:22should say the three judges, if it does
01:13:24go the 20 minute time limit.
01:13:26Ravishing
01:13:28Rick Roode, the United States heavyweight champion
01:13:30with a front facelock in this semifinal
01:13:32event on the King of Cable Tournament.
01:13:34Sting trying to block it.
01:13:36Again, as Roode
01:13:38tries to set Sting with a little
01:13:40counter there, takes him up
01:13:42and drops him over the top
01:13:44rope, abdomen
01:13:46first, right over the top rope.
01:13:48Well, it looked like it was going to be a slingshot
01:13:50suplex, but instead he just hung him up there
01:13:52and now he's going to take him with it.
01:13:54There's that
01:13:56front facelock again. He drops
01:13:58him over the top rope. Remember
01:14:00there's steel cable inside that
01:14:02rubber casing. And look at
01:14:04Roode, he's suspended there.
01:14:06Sting
01:14:08now, soccer style, from the
01:14:10side. There you see
01:14:12those kicks bearing
01:14:14right into that washboard
01:14:16like abdomen of Ravishing Rick
01:14:18Roode. Roode out here on the outside
01:14:20near the security.
01:14:22Sting took a chance
01:14:24and it did not pay off.
01:14:26He went for the Stinger Splash.
01:14:28Roode able to move out of the way
01:14:30and Sting found nothing but steel.
01:14:32And that is the move,
01:14:34that is the break that Ravishing Rick
01:14:36Roode was looking for. Now
01:14:38the question is, does Roode have
01:14:40enough to come back and take advantage
01:14:42of it? And it looks like he might, Jim
01:14:44Ross. He's going to fire Sting
01:14:46back into the ring and now it's
01:14:48the Stinger who is injured and it's
01:14:50Ravishing Rick Roode going up to
01:14:52the top with a high risk maneuver.
01:14:54Roode up on top.
01:14:56What's he going to do here? Comes off.
01:14:58Thick clubbing, forearm, toss
01:15:00Sting right in the head.
01:15:02Roode may have him right here.
01:15:04He hooks that leg, pulls back
01:15:06on it, and Sting is too close to the ropes.
01:15:08Got that
01:15:10foot over the bottom rope.
01:15:12I'll tell you what, the Stinger was very
01:15:14fortunate right there at where he landed in the
01:15:16ring.
01:15:18Roode having a hard time taking a
01:15:20deep breath after the
01:15:22concussion
01:15:24to those ribs. Slams
01:15:26him and that took a lot out of the U.S. champion.
01:15:28Yeah, but it took more out of the
01:15:30former WCW world champ.
01:15:32It hurts a lot more to
01:15:34get slammed down than it does to be picking
01:15:36up.
01:15:38Lateral press again.
01:15:40A near
01:15:42fall situation.
01:15:44Sting is
01:15:46really
01:15:48ramming into the steel security railing.
01:15:50Has been unable
01:15:52obviously to get on track and now it's
01:15:54ravishing Rick Roode with that modified
01:15:56camel clutch. Well, I think this is a
01:15:58move that Roode had to do at this point
01:16:00in the bout because Roode needs a little more time
01:16:02to recover. You can see he's breathing
01:16:04deep and this is going to give
01:16:06Roode a chance to recover more, put
01:16:08the pressure on Sting and go on the hard
01:16:10offense because right now, in my opinion
01:16:12Jim Ross, Sting is ahead.
01:16:14If it goes to a decision at this point
01:16:16in the match, Sting will win it.
01:16:18But this is a smart, smart move by
01:16:20ravishing Rick Roode. As we said,
01:16:22the winner of this contest advances
01:16:24to the Omni in Atlanta
01:16:26Monday, December 28th.
01:16:28That's where you'll see the finals and Roode
01:16:30Oh, he's scoring big right there.
01:16:32Well, you know, I don't think
01:16:34Matsuda or Anderson or Zabisco
01:16:36really care about that bumping and grinding.
01:16:38He doesn't look too impressed. I don't know.
01:16:40You know, Matsuda hangs out with
01:16:42a bunch of girls. He might have liked it.
01:16:46Roode scoops up Sting and
01:16:48slams him.
01:16:50Sting
01:16:52in a tremendous amount of trouble. Roode just
01:16:54measured him. A clean shot
01:16:56there and Roode drove the forearm.
01:16:58He hooks a leg and this time
01:17:00we see another two count.
01:17:02Another near fall situation and ravishing
01:17:04Rick Roode turns Sting over
01:17:06and goes right back to work. He saw he had him
01:17:08weakened, he got a two count, but he goes right
01:17:10back to work on the lower back. And if I were
01:17:12ravishing Rick Roode, I at some
01:17:14point in this bout would try to hit with
01:17:16a Roode Awakening. That way
01:17:18you take it out of the hands of the judges.
01:17:20Don't forget, ladies and gentlemen, if you just joined us
01:17:22the Unified World Tag Team Championship
01:17:24is still to come in this
01:17:26live broadcast. We are coming to you
01:17:28live from Lincoln, Georgia and
01:17:30we thank you for being with us here in the Clash of
01:17:32the Champions as Sting is trying to work his way
01:17:34back up. He needs to be vertical,
01:17:36but Roode will have none of that.
01:17:38Well, Roode put him horizontal
01:17:40right there, not vertical. And look at this,
01:17:42Roode's getting his win back now, Jim Ross.
01:17:44Look at him. You can see the confidence
01:17:46is coming back, the endurance is coming
01:17:48back into ravishing Rick Roode.
01:17:50Drives that forearm into the lower back.
01:17:52Really trying to bruise
01:17:54the kidneys, it would seem, and that is a
01:17:56very, very tender
01:17:58area. Right now in this bout
01:18:00I see Roode getting stronger and
01:18:02I see the Stinger getting weaker.
01:18:04Roode front face lock.
01:18:06He tried this earlier. Sting blocked
01:18:08it then.
01:18:10Roode hooks it up.
01:18:12He didn't block it this time.
01:18:14Oh boy. Standing vertical
01:18:16suplex with a tremendous
01:18:18amount of impact. Roode
01:18:20unable to capitalize here, Jess. I'll tell you what
01:18:22though, Jim Ross, every judge marked
01:18:24on that one. I looked around the ring and
01:18:26Roode scored there. No doubt about it.
01:18:28Roode still hurting
01:18:30in his
01:18:32ribs.
01:18:34Unable to capitalize
01:18:36there. That could have been a big
01:18:38big situation this match.
01:18:40He was unable to get a cover after the suplex.
01:18:42Slams him again.
01:18:44He is really attacking the lower back
01:18:46of the Stinger.
01:18:48And back to that reverse chin lock.
01:18:50Sitting back on the lower back and
01:18:52Roode again gaining strength.
01:18:54Sting getting weaker.
01:19:00You see Roode really
01:19:02able to use his
01:19:04obviously leverage here but his
01:19:06great upper body strength really
01:19:08comes to play in this particular situation.
01:19:12We could get a submission here.
01:19:16Roode keeps
01:19:18this on long enough and pulls it back
01:19:20hard enough which he is. Look at those biceps
01:19:22bulging as Roode puts the pressure
01:19:24on. Stinger grasping for
01:19:26air. You can see the crowds coming up with him.
01:19:28Sting has got to reach
01:19:30down here.
01:19:32And Roode again.
01:19:34He missed it that time.
01:19:36Roode trying to put him back down.
01:19:38One step ahead
01:19:40of the ravishing one.
01:19:42And the Stinger now
01:19:44hammering away. What a rush of adrenaline
01:19:46for the Stinger. And now Roode
01:19:48is reeling.
01:19:50He couldn't hold him. He couldn't hold him.
01:19:52Roode could get him. One. Two.
01:19:54Two and a half. Two.
01:19:56Two. I long two.
01:19:58Well obviously the work on the
01:20:00back has taken its toll because under normal
01:20:02circumstances Sting was in perfect
01:20:04position right there for a gorgeous body slam.
01:20:06Lower back wouldn't hold
01:20:08ravishing Rick Roode. Down he goes. Roode
01:20:10at one, two and almost a three count
01:20:12again. Roode
01:20:14with pain. Fatigue got to be setting in
01:20:16too for both these men.
01:20:18He's not going to get him that way.
01:20:20Sting though
01:20:22having to use his upper body strength
01:20:24to keep his shoulders off the canvas
01:20:26again is going to put tremendous torque
01:20:28on his lower back.
01:20:30And that may be
01:20:32taking as much out of him. That may
01:20:34be what Roode's looking for.
01:20:36Ultimately he wants the pin. But to make
01:20:38Sting use that lower back and the strength
01:20:40of his lower back is a big, big factor
01:20:42in this match at this point in time.
01:20:48Roode forces him back into the corner.
01:20:50Irish whip.
01:20:52Sting right above us here.
01:20:54Tremendous impact.
01:20:56Roode is, I mean they are shaking
01:20:58the ring with these tremendous
01:21:00whips into the turnbuckles. And I'll tell you what
01:21:02every one of those turnbuckles are scoring
01:21:04points. I think with all three judges
01:21:06they got to like it.
01:21:08Roode is clearly the aggressor.
01:21:16We're down to under five
01:21:18minutes. There you can see the clock in the lower
01:21:20right corner. Jim Ross in the big bear hug
01:21:22on the lower back.
01:21:24Again, a rest move on the part
01:21:26of Roode. A pain move
01:21:28on the part of the Stinger.
01:21:32As we've documented, Roode has
01:21:34outstanding upper
01:21:36body strength. And look at the position
01:21:38of his hands as they are locked
01:21:40right into the spine
01:21:42in the lower back area
01:21:44of the Stinger. And that has
01:21:46been ravishing Rick Roode's focus
01:21:48since the first couple
01:21:50of minutes of the match. There you see a good look there
01:21:52of how Roode has his hands locked.
01:21:54He's using his forearms and his
01:21:56big wrist there to put the pressure
01:21:58on the lower back.
01:22:02Roode, a five-time national arm wrestling champion
01:22:04has great strength in his forearms
01:22:06and his hands. Roode
01:22:08has great strength everywhere in his body.
01:22:10Again
01:22:12throwing Sting back into the corner.
01:22:14Ravishing Rick Roode.
01:22:16As you see in the lower
01:22:18right part of your screen
01:22:20about coming up soon
01:22:22on three and a half minutes left of time limit.
01:22:24But I'm not so sure Sting can hold
01:22:26up to three and a half. I'll tell you what Jim Ross
01:22:28I had Sting far ahead about
01:22:30seven minutes ago. But I think right
01:22:32now it's getting very close to
01:22:34flip a coin. Because in the last
01:22:36six minutes of this bout, it's been
01:22:38ravishing Rick Roode dominating
01:22:40scoring points. And I'd have to say
01:22:42it's about even Steven right now in my opinion.
01:22:46A look of pain and agony
01:22:48etched on the face of the
01:22:50Stinger. A look of determination
01:22:52on the face of ravishing
01:22:54Rick Roode for one man.
01:22:56The winner will go to the finals
01:22:58at Starrcade. The loser
01:23:00will have to fight another day.
01:23:02Sting fighting
01:23:04back as best
01:23:06he can.
01:23:08Both these men.
01:23:10You know what it is now
01:23:12Jim Ross? It's gut check time.
01:23:14The guy who can pull it out of the fire
01:23:16in the last three minutes will win it.
01:23:18It's even right now. Got to be.
01:23:20Sting reverses
01:23:22the whip to the center of the ropes.
01:23:24He has the swing.
01:23:26On ravishing Rick Roode.
01:23:28Can he lock it in?
01:23:30And get
01:23:32Roode in a somewhat stationary position.
01:23:34Roode is slowing down.
01:23:36And slowing down. And
01:23:38but he counters. He drove his own head
01:23:40right up into the face of the Stinger.
01:23:42Causing right under the jaw.
01:23:44Excellent move by ravishing Rick Roode.
01:23:46About the only move available to him
01:23:48to get out of the sleeper hold.
01:23:54Ravishing Rick Roode
01:23:56with over, just over
01:23:58two minutes remaining in
01:24:00this 20 minute time limit event.
01:24:02Against
01:24:04taking Sting's face right to
01:24:06the canvas with tremendous impact.
01:24:08You know
01:24:10what makes wrestling so great, Jim Ross?
01:24:12When we get to the
01:24:14two minute warning, there ain't no stop
01:24:16and there ain't no time out like football.
01:24:18They got to keep going.
01:24:20That's what I love about it.
01:24:22Me too, Jesse. Got to keep on gutting it out.
01:24:24And now ravishing Rick Roode
01:24:26surprisingly was in control of the
01:24:28ground game. Going up top.
01:24:30High wrist move. The Stinger is there.
01:24:32Oh my!
01:24:34Sting just
01:24:36brought him off the top.
01:24:38Gut first.
01:24:40And Stinger, oh
01:24:42inverted atomic drop.
01:24:46Roode now is in
01:24:48trouble. The Stinger
01:24:50atomic drop.
01:24:52Drives the knee right up into the spine.
01:24:54Depressing the vertebrae.
01:24:56And now the Stinger is building
01:24:58the momentum offensively. He's
01:25:00going for the cover. One, two and a near
01:25:02fall.
01:25:04Well, Stinger as exhausted as he was
01:25:06got the strength to try to hook the leg there
01:25:08and it allowed ravishing Rick Roode to
01:25:10kick out. But here goes Sting up to the top.
01:25:12If he hits it, it could be over.
01:25:14Less than a minute to go.
01:25:16High wrist move. Sting caught him with the crossbody.
01:25:18This should be all. He got the
01:25:20leg hooked. One, two and a half.
01:25:22Roode kicked out. Roode kicked out.
01:25:24Sting now again.
01:25:26Each guy trying
01:25:28to score any way he can.
01:25:30Oh, Roode caught him.
01:25:32Roode sidestepped and caught him with a gut
01:25:34shot. Big fist right into the abdomen.
01:25:42Roode the knee lamp.
01:25:44Both men desperately trying to
01:25:46secure a pin here.
01:25:48Roode needs to go for the Roode Awakening.
01:25:50He's going for it. He must have heard me.
01:25:52Roode trying to set Sting
01:25:54for the Roode Awakening.
01:25:56He's got it hooked. He's got
01:25:58enough.
01:26:00Sting able to counter.
01:26:02Sting going for the Stinger Flyer.
01:26:04He hit it. He hit it. Will he have time?
01:26:06There's a scorpion. Will he have time?
01:26:08He's got it hooked.
01:26:10Oh, no.
01:26:12Time has run out.
01:26:14The 20 minute time limit
01:26:16has expired.
01:26:18And we will get
01:26:20Gary Capetta
01:26:22back up in the ring
01:26:24and collect the score sheets.
01:26:28The referee will collect the
01:26:30score sheets.
01:26:32We have Mr. Matsuda's
01:26:34score sheet. Matsuda's score sheet
01:26:36is already in. There goes Ole
01:26:38Anderson and the referee coming
01:26:40over to the cruncher, Larry Zabisco.
01:26:42Now, ladies and gentlemen, because this match
01:26:44went to the time limit,
01:26:46the decision will be decided
01:26:48by the referee,
01:26:50judges, ballots at ringside.
01:26:56Well, both athletes ready for teams here.
01:26:58Ladies and gentlemen,
01:27:00we have a split decision.
01:27:04Judge Hiro Matsuda

01:27:16Judge Larry
01:27:18Zabisco
01:27:20has scored this match
01:27:22in favor of
01:27:24Revishing with
01:27:26Blue.
01:27:30And the final and deciding ballot
01:27:32to determine which
01:27:34of these wrestlers advance at
01:27:36Starrcade to the finals
01:27:38of the King of Cable,
01:27:40referee, excuse me, Judge
01:27:42Ole Anderson
01:27:44has scored this
01:27:46for Sting.
01:27:48The winner of the match
01:27:50is Sting.
01:27:52Fans, a heavyweight
01:27:54championship tag team event.
01:27:56Well, it's still breaking down here.
01:27:58Rude tried to attack Sting.
01:28:00Caught him with the atomic drop.
01:28:02Rude tried a cheap shot
01:28:04on the Stinger.
01:28:06Sting advances to the finals
01:28:08of the King of Cable.
01:28:10Well, I'll tell you, I'm not so sure
01:28:12it was kind of a hometown decision
01:28:14as far as I'm concerned.
01:28:16The Unified World Tag Team Championship
01:28:18is next on the Clash of the Champions.
01:28:24And you don't want to make it bad.
01:28:28He's as pretty as the picture.
01:28:30He looks just like
01:28:32Little Richard.
01:28:40Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest
01:28:42on the Clash of the Champions
01:28:44for the Unified
01:28:46World Tag Team Championship.
01:28:48It is at 4-1
01:28:50with TV time
01:28:52remaining.
01:28:54Introducing versus the challengers
01:28:56for the combined weight
01:28:58460 pounds
01:29:00from Charlotte, North Carolina
01:29:02Ricky
01:29:04the Dragon
01:29:06Steve Bowe.
01:29:08His tag team partner
01:29:10from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
01:29:12Shane
01:29:14Douglas.
01:29:16You know, fans, we talk
01:29:18to you every Sunday night on AM 750
01:29:20WSB in Atlanta on the radio
01:29:22and a lot of you think that
01:29:24this team has a great opportunity
01:29:26to upset the champions. Before we talk
01:29:28about that gist, let's go back to Gary Capetto.
01:29:30And ladies and gentlemen, their
01:29:32opponents, they are the
01:29:34Unified World Tag Team Champions
01:29:36at a total combined
01:29:38weight of 535
01:29:40pounds.
01:29:42First, from Sweetwater, Texas
01:29:44Marie
01:29:46Windham.
01:29:48And from
01:29:50Hudson, Texas
01:29:52the natural
01:29:54Dustin Rhodes.
01:30:00Dustin Rhodes still showing those battle scars
01:30:02from his confrontation
01:30:04in the locker room before
01:30:06he met the Barbarian
01:30:08in the King of Cable competition.
01:30:10I can guarantee you his mind
01:30:12is far Jesse Ventura from
01:30:14King of Cable.
01:30:16On the line right here, the Unified World
01:30:18Tag Team title. Well, this is what it's all about
01:30:20right here for tag team wrestling
01:30:22Jim Ross and the natural
01:30:24Dustin Rhodes is going to start off with Shane Douglas
01:30:26should be an interesting bout
01:30:28should be fairly scientific Jim Ross
01:30:30but I'll tell you one thing, when you're going
01:30:32for the gold like this, at some point
01:30:34in time, somebody's going to cheat, I know it.
01:30:36Ha ha.
01:30:38Collar and elbow tie up, Dustin Rhodes
01:30:40getting the better of the situation now.
01:30:42Youngster from Austin, Texas will have a big leverage advantage
01:30:44in this particular matchup.
01:30:46Douglas may be the quicker of the two.
01:30:48Douglas from Pittsburgh, as you heard.
01:30:50Face quickens here.
01:30:52Good move inside cradle.
01:30:54Whoa, we almost had that title
01:30:56change right there.
01:31:00Good counter there.
01:31:02Hooks both arms.
01:31:04Backslide situation. Now they've got a
01:31:06near fall, so both men in the early
01:31:08going, exchanging near falls.
01:31:10Absolutely, that's what you're going to see.
01:31:12A lot of good scientific wrestling
01:31:14right here. You're not going to see a lot of cheap
01:31:16shots, but mark my words, Ross
01:31:18at some point in the bout, it's going to happen.
01:31:20Somebody's going to crack somebody
01:31:22because you've got to. You're going for
01:31:24the world titles.
01:31:26Shot headlocked by Shane Douglas and
01:31:28Dustin Rhodes able to counter
01:31:30to the hammerlock.
01:31:32Douglas, duck under.
01:31:34Counters.
01:31:36Dustin in the ropes.
01:31:38And a clean break
01:31:40right there.
01:31:42Shouldn't surprise anyone. Both these young men like to
01:31:44follow the rules.
01:31:46Jocking for position there. Dustin
01:31:48muscling Douglas into the corner.
01:31:50And good clean break there.
01:31:52Well, it's interesting. Whoa, good
01:31:54arm drag takedown there by Shane Douglas.
01:31:56It's interesting, and a nice clean break
01:31:58after the arm drag.
01:32:00Back up to the standing position again.
01:32:02And Dustin Rhodes
01:32:04with the arm drag, and both men back up quickly.
01:32:06Well, what they're doing now,
01:32:08Jim Ross, is they're earning each other's
01:32:10respect.
01:32:12Saw some verbal
01:32:14fireworks between these two teams
01:32:16on WCW Saturday night
01:32:18this past weekend.
01:32:20Of course, Dustin Rhodes won his first major world
01:32:22title with
01:32:24Ricky Steamboat.
01:32:26And that was at a Clash of the Champions
01:32:28in Savannah, Georgia. Isn't that interesting?
01:32:30And now they're facing each other for the titles.
01:32:38Rhodes controlling the
01:32:40tippo here. Back up.
01:32:42You see the leverage advantage he has
01:32:44when they're both in a vertical
01:32:46situation, Jess. Dustin's about 6'5",
01:32:48maybe 6'6".
01:32:50Nice shoulder block.
01:32:52Gets some added momentum
01:32:54going far side. Douglas missed the
01:32:56clothesline. Nice cradle there by Dustin.
01:32:58And Douglas able to kick out.
01:33:00Douglas
01:33:02with the aggressor there.
01:33:04Oh, beautiful move
01:33:06right there by Shane Douglas.
01:33:10Oh, and they both go for a dropkick
01:33:12and both of them miss. The feet met
01:33:14the air and the heads met the mat.
01:33:16And they both make the tag. Here
01:33:18comes Steamboat and Windham in.
01:33:22Ricky the Dragon, Steamboat.
01:33:26Arm drag takedown by Barry Windham.
01:33:28Steamboat counters into the head scissor.
01:33:30Windham, good counter for the big man.
01:33:32Couldn't get him down.
01:33:34Oh, they both go outside.
01:33:36Windham landed on his feet, but Steamboat did not.
01:33:38And a little shoving going on here.
01:33:40Look at this. Look at this.
01:33:44Come on, mix it up. Mix it up.
01:33:46You're going for the titles.
01:33:50This is for all the marbles, Ross.
01:33:52You got to be aggressive. You got to go for it.
01:33:56Yeah.
01:33:58Indeed,
01:34:00there is no prize in tag team wrestling
01:34:02more valued than
01:34:04the Unified World Tag Team Championship.
01:34:06Dollar and Elbow tie up.
01:34:08Windham with a big size advantage.
01:34:10Manhandling Steamboat into the corner.
01:34:12Caught him with a chop. Steamboat retaliates.
01:34:14I love it.
01:34:16Now they're going for it, Jim Ross.
01:34:18They're pulling it all out now.
01:34:20We're going to find out who the tougher team is.
01:34:24Atomic drop by Steamboat.
01:34:26Steamboat,
01:34:28so quick and so fluid
01:34:30in his offensive movement,
01:34:32takes down Big Barry Windham.
01:34:34Windham's 6'6", I would say about
01:34:36the 280 pound mark.
01:34:38Takes him down. Steamboat
01:34:40holds on and makes a tag.
01:34:42Very timely and a very good
01:34:44tag there.
01:34:46And look at Shane Douglas with a cheap shot
01:34:48kicked to the abdomen area.
01:34:50Double elbow right there. I love it.
01:34:52Now they're starting to go for it.
01:34:54You can hear Steamboat communicating with his partner.
01:34:56Steamboat looking to
01:34:58win a championship with his fourth
01:35:00tag team partner.
01:35:02Another tag, quick tag. Here comes
01:35:04Shane Douglas back in.
01:35:06And Steamboat, obviously
01:35:08the leader of this team, of his team,
01:35:10almost like calling out
01:35:12signals like a quarterback, but Windham
01:35:14just tags Shane Douglas
01:35:16with a right hand. Front face locks
01:35:18him, trying to get him up in that big
01:35:20suplex, but it's Douglas that counters.
01:35:22Good move as Douglas set underneath.
01:35:24Able to counter. Now the lateral
01:35:26press, and Windham able to kick
01:35:28out before the 3. I'll tell you
01:35:30that was a remarkable move right there
01:35:32by Shane Douglas because he's giving up
01:35:34about 35-40 pounds in
01:35:36body weight and about 5 or 6 inches in height.
01:35:38And yet, he was able to
01:35:40block Barry Windham's attempt for a suplex
01:35:42and reverse it and
01:35:44suplex Windham.
01:35:46Windham with
01:35:48those strong
01:35:50forearms to the
01:35:52side of the head of
01:35:54Shane Douglas.
01:35:56And Douglas
01:35:58slipped out of Windham's grasp. The perspiration
01:36:00there, I'm sure, had a factor there.
01:36:02And that allowed Douglas then to be able to move
01:36:04quickly out of the way as Windham came
01:36:06to the corner. It's Ricky Steamboat with the tag.
01:36:08And Steamboat comes off the top
01:36:10with, oh, good martial arts blow. Got him in the
01:36:12ribs. He's going for the cover. And you saw
01:36:14Steamboat reaching back to try to hook the leg
01:36:16and Windham wouldn't have any of that.
01:36:18And Steamboat controlling it here on the mat
01:36:20where he needs to have his bigger opponent.
01:36:22But I'll tell you what makes Windham tough to
01:36:24pin. He stands about 6'7".
01:36:26He's got that leverage
01:36:28to kick out of just about anything you
01:36:30can put on him. And they're going to have to wear
01:36:32him down a lot more than they have
01:36:34to get a three count on Big Barry in there.
01:36:38Young Dustin Rhodes
01:36:40looks on.
01:36:42And Windham
01:36:44with Steamboat
01:36:46holding on pugnaciously.
01:36:48And, I mean,
01:36:50held on right through the
01:36:52attempted counter. Makes the tag.
01:36:54Whips him in.
01:36:56And both men, double
01:36:58team offense. High elevation.
01:37:00And Windham in a lot of trouble
01:37:02as Douglas tried to cinch in on that
01:37:04leg. Couldn't quite do that. And goes
01:37:06back to work on the arm. Exactly what
01:37:08Steamboat was working on. But again,
01:37:10notice how Windham kicked out of that.
01:37:12He got back dropped by both men.
01:37:14High altitude, but yet they couldn't
01:37:16keep Barry Windham's shoulders on the mat.
01:37:22Douglas executing the arm
01:37:24bar. But Windham
01:37:26able to push him back in the ropes.
01:37:28They come out. It's countered by Douglas.
01:37:30And Douglas! Oh! His neck
01:37:32snapped back. I mean, like a whiplash
01:37:34in a car wreck or something.
01:37:36It happened right above us. And now
01:37:38Windham makes a quick
01:37:40tag. And a smart one to Dustin Rhodes.
01:37:42Can Dustin capitalize? Absolutely.
01:37:44Dustin Rhodes is fresh. He's going for it.
01:37:46I thought he had it. I thought he had it right there.
01:37:48Dustin Rhodes
01:37:50a fresh man in the ring. Smart move. Now
01:37:52he tags Windham. I'm not sure about that.
01:37:54Windham took a lot of punishment. Double drop
01:37:56kick. Shane Douglas down right in front
01:37:58of us, Jim Ross. Don't get your head
01:38:00kicked off now.
01:38:02Windham the lateral
01:38:04press. You saw and
01:38:06heard the count. He got two out of him.
01:38:08Barry with that front face
01:38:10knock. And he tags in Dustin.
01:38:12But he suplexes Douglas before he leaves.
01:38:14Look at the teamwork of Rhodes
01:38:16and Windham. The elbow. The referee
01:38:18in position. One, two! And a
01:38:20long two. A long two. And
01:38:22look at Steamboat running in the ring
01:38:24to break the rules and make a save.
01:38:26Very interesting.
01:38:28Flip! Good quick
01:38:30move by the speedy Shane Douglas.
01:38:34As Dustin
01:38:36and Barry make
01:38:38a tag. Windham in with the elbow
01:38:40and the tricep of Shane Douglas.
01:38:42Forces him back in the corner.
01:38:44Catches him with a knife edge chop.
01:38:46Brings him out of the corner.
01:38:48Still working on the arm.
01:38:50Taking that wrist around.
01:38:54And Rhodes
01:38:56measures him with a forearm off the second rope.
01:38:58Drives him down. Look at him hook the hammer lock in there.
01:39:00And believe me,
01:39:02Jim Ross, people think the hammer
01:39:04lock is nothing of a hold. You can get a
01:39:06submission from a hammer lock.
01:39:08You apply it right. You get a guy
01:39:10down like that. Drive him into the mat.
01:39:12He's got nowhere to go. He may have to quit.
01:39:18Hammer lock and a half Nelson
01:39:20into a pinning predicament.
01:39:22A very sound
01:39:24wrestling move
01:39:26executed by Dustin
01:39:28Rhodes.
01:39:32Continuing to focus on the arm.
01:39:36And the tag as you saw made.
01:39:38Windham back in.
01:39:40The champs are doing a good job
01:39:42cutting off the ring.
01:39:44And there's a cover.
01:39:46The champs are doing a good job
01:39:48cutting off the ring on Shane Douglas
01:39:50and tagging in and out.
01:39:52Douglas needs to make a tag pretty soon.
01:39:54He's trying to fight his way out of there.
01:39:56But those punches not having a lot of effect
01:39:58on Barry Windham.
01:40:00Windham makes the tag. Rhodes will be coming in.
01:40:02But again, it's the double team offense
01:40:04and another
01:40:06near fall situation.
01:40:08And Shane Douglas desperately needs to make a tag
01:40:10to Ricky the Dragon Steamboat.
01:40:12As Dustin
01:40:14snaps Douglas over
01:40:16and then applies
01:40:18the reverse chin lock.
01:40:20And Steamboat
01:40:22all the way out of his
01:40:24corner area
01:40:26was just really not allowed
01:40:28quite frankly. That's right.
01:40:30The referee's going to send him back to his corner
01:40:32where he belongs.
01:40:36It's nice that he goes over there
01:40:38for vocal support but the Dragon
01:40:40is not allowed to do that. He's got to stay in a neutral
01:40:42corner.
01:40:48Dustin holding on
01:40:50with the reverse
01:40:52chin lock but
01:40:54Douglas has worked his way back up vertical.
01:40:56Trying to put something together as
01:40:58Douglas. He hit the cross body.
01:41:00And another near fall.
01:41:02And Dustin
01:41:04back up very, very quickly.
01:41:06And makes another tag.
01:41:08Look at the size difference
01:41:10Jess and Windham and Douglas
01:41:12here.
01:41:14Windham got him up.
01:41:16He muscled him up.
01:41:18And took him down with that
01:41:20suplex.
01:41:22Now on top.
01:41:24And Douglas showing great
01:41:26fight and determination.
01:41:28And look at that. Perry Windham shaking a
01:41:30finger at Steamboat saying,
01:41:32Hey, stay out of here.
01:41:40Windham caught him with that lariat.
01:41:44Turned his head around and again
01:41:46Ricky Steamboat comes in.
01:41:48The emotion of this whole situation
01:41:50seems to be affecting
01:41:52Ricky the Dragon Steamboat
01:41:54very negatively as
01:41:56Dustin Rhodes back in. He's keeping
01:41:58it very basic. Side headlock
01:42:00takeover. Nice move.
01:42:02And to pitting predicament. Douglas in so much pain.
01:42:04I'll tell you what the problem is.
01:42:06Steamboat's a veteran. He knows
01:42:08Douglas is in very, very serious
01:42:10trouble right now. So he's gonna
01:42:12jump into the ring any chance he gets
01:42:14to try to make a save because
01:42:16if he don't, Shane Douglas could get the
01:42:18three count at any moment.
01:42:22Dustin drove his knee
01:42:24into the upper arm
01:42:26of Shane Douglas and that
01:42:28has been the focus of the
01:42:30unified champions for the past
01:42:32several minutes. They are
01:42:34really trying to
01:42:36incapacitate the arm of
01:42:38their challenger, Douglas.
01:42:50Douglas showing a lot of competitive
01:42:52spirit here, but
01:42:54the Irish hips reverse. He caught him again
01:42:56with a crossbody. Second time in the
01:42:58second near fall from the crossbody.
01:43:02But again, Douglas cannot get to the
01:43:04corner and make the tag.
01:43:08Dustin went for the dropkick.
01:43:10There he made the tag. Here comes the Dragon.
01:43:12Steamboat
01:43:14with that tackle on his former partner.
01:43:18Another great shoulder block.
01:43:20Another lateral press.
01:43:22Steamboat knows it may be up to him for
01:43:24quite some time.
01:43:26Steamboat really
01:43:28trying to quicken the pace.
01:43:30Good
01:43:32counter move by Dustin. He caught Steamboat
01:43:34with that dropkick and now Dustin
01:43:36goes for the cover. Trying to put his former
01:43:38partner away.
01:43:40Inside cradle. Dustin
01:43:42good. No. Did he get it? No.
01:43:442-2.
01:43:46Another good shoulder
01:43:48block.
01:43:50Nice high impact move by the bigger Dustin Rhodes.
01:43:52Steamboat's got to either get Dustin
01:43:54on the mat or get
01:43:56to control the tempo offensively.
01:43:58He's been unable to do either.
01:44:00Oh, gosh. Oh, wait a minute.
01:44:02That caught him.
01:44:04That was inadvertently, but it caught him in the groin.
01:44:06Yeah, it did. Inadvertently
01:44:08Steamboat went for a leapfrog right there.
01:44:10Dustin Rhodes, 6'7",
01:44:12his head caught the Dragon
01:44:14in the groin area.
01:44:16And Dustin's not going for a pin.
01:44:18Well, Wyndham is livid.
01:44:20He wants Dustin to pin him.
01:44:22Well, Wyndham's right. Hey,
01:44:24you go for it. Things happen.
01:44:26You got to take the pin if you can get
01:44:28the shot. Well,
01:44:30Dustin knows all the miles he traveled
01:44:32with Ricky Steamboat. He knows this man
01:44:34can't win the World Title.
01:44:36That's irrelevant. That is irrelevant.
01:44:38They are the champions.
01:44:40Wyndham makes the tag.
01:44:42He just tagged Dustin. I don't think Dustin
01:44:44can make the tag. Wyndham's got him. No, he doesn't.
01:44:46Steamboat able to get the left shoulder up.
01:44:48And Wyndham
01:44:50is livid of this whole situation.
01:44:52I agree with Wyndham.
01:44:54You go for the win. You can't help it
01:44:56if a man gets hurt in there. This is a tough
01:44:58sport. You go for the win.
01:45:00I understand that. I'm not arguing that point.
01:45:02Oh, inverted
01:45:04atomic drop.
01:45:06But you can't just eliminate
01:45:08the emotion of young Dustin and Ricky Steamboat.
01:45:10Now, there's a lateral press.
01:45:12No, it's not.
01:45:14It should have been all of it.
01:45:16And now Douglas in, having some words
01:45:18with Barry Wyndham, but Steamboat
01:45:20who was inadvertently hit below
01:45:22the belt
01:45:24is writhing in pain.
01:45:26And look at this. The two champions are
01:45:28having words here.
01:45:32Well, it may just be a matter of time
01:45:34now for Ricky Steamboat.
01:45:36Quite frankly, I don't know if he can even defend
01:45:38himself. Look at this.
01:45:40Oh, another inverted
01:45:42atomic drop. Is that really called for?
01:45:44Hey, he hasn't
01:45:46pinned him yet.
01:45:48He will now.
01:45:50Dustin Rhodes coming in.
01:45:52Look at that. I can't
01:45:54believe it. What is going on here?
01:45:56Dustin
01:45:58said he's hurt. Uh-oh.
01:46:00Now Steamboat
01:46:02made the tag. Steamboat made the tag
01:46:04to Shane Douglas.
01:46:06Douglas is the legal man now.
01:46:08And Douglas caught him. Douglas caught him
01:46:10with a belly-to-belly. He got him with a belly-to-belly.
01:46:12Oh, unbelievable. We got two champions.
01:46:14Ladies and gentlemen, the winners
01:46:16and new
01:46:18Unified World
01:46:20Tag Team Champions,
01:46:22the team of Shane Douglas
01:46:24and Ricky the Dragon
01:46:26Steamboat.
01:46:28Well, this
01:46:30crowd here cannot believe
01:46:32the sadness
01:46:34that this
01:46:36one ended. Dustin Rhodes
01:46:38obviously
01:46:40is just
01:46:42so emotionally involved
01:46:44in this situation. Steamboat
01:46:46perhaps now aware
01:46:48that they've won the Unified World
01:46:50Tag Team title. Rhodes got
01:46:52so emotionally involved, Ross,
01:46:54it cost him the title. It
01:46:56cost him the title.
01:46:58Barry Windham went for
01:47:00the win, and his own partner
01:47:02cost him the title.
01:47:04Well, that's your opinion. You're
01:47:06darn right it's my opinion. I don't
01:47:08agree with it. If any competitor
01:47:10gets in the ring, you go into the ring
01:47:12to win matches.
01:47:14Steamboat's going to have to be helped back
01:47:16to the locker room area.
01:47:18We've got new Unified Champions,
01:47:20and we've got a very tense
01:47:22situation here.
01:47:28Dustin Rhodes cannot believe
01:47:30that he and Barry Windham have lost
01:47:32right here live in the Clash of
01:47:34the Champions, the Unified World
01:47:36Tag Team Championship. Well,
01:47:38I don't care what you say, Jim Ross.
01:47:40Dustin Rhodes cost Windham
01:47:42and Rhodes the title.
01:47:44He cost it for him, because
01:47:46he had to be Mr. Nice Guy.
01:47:50Well, Dustin dejectedly walking back
01:47:52to the locker room area.
01:47:54Dustin!
01:47:56Dustin!
01:47:58Dustin!
01:48:00Look at that.
01:48:02Windham yelling for Dustin Rhodes.
01:48:04Uh-oh.
01:48:06We've got a volatile situation
01:48:08here, Jim Ross. He wants his partner
01:48:10back in the ring.
01:48:12They can settle the situation right here.
01:48:14They'll get a rematch,
01:48:16and Dustin's trying to explain
01:48:18to Barry that Ricky Steamboat
01:48:20was hurt. He didn't want to take
01:48:22advantage of him.
01:48:24Well, and this is
01:48:26again
01:48:28so shocking.
01:48:30Hey, sucker! He kicked him in the gut!
01:48:32Uh-oh.
01:48:34Windham with a right hand
01:48:36on his own partner.
01:48:40There's the DDT!
01:48:42He got him with a DDT!
01:48:46Oh, come on!
01:48:48Whoa!
01:48:50Dustin Rhodes now, after that
01:48:52grueling match,
01:48:54he can't defend himself.
01:48:56That's gonna cost Windham some money
01:48:58for selling a ref. He's got him
01:49:00setting up for that superplex.
01:49:04Jesse Ventura's
01:49:06going to the locker room.
01:49:08There's that superplex off the top.
01:49:10This kid can't even defend himself.
01:49:12Here come fans.
01:49:14We've got to get some order here.
01:49:16We'll be back in a moment. Don't go away.
01:49:18We've got more time left, and we'll be back.
01:49:22♪♪
01:49:24♪♪
01:49:26♪♪
01:49:28♪♪
01:49:30♪♪
01:49:32All right, ladies and gentlemen, we just got a few more
01:49:34moments here on the Clash of the Champions.
01:49:36We've got new Unified World Tag Team Champions,
01:49:38and they're back in the locker room
01:49:40with Jesse the Body Ventura.
01:49:42Thank you, Jim Ross.
01:49:44We're back here in the locker room.
01:49:46Ricky the Dragon, Steamboat, tremendous victory
01:49:48out there. You're the new World Tag Team
01:49:50Champions, but I'll tell you what.
01:49:52Some strange circumstances happening
01:49:54in that bout. You got injured in there,
01:49:56and Dustin Rhodes actually came
01:49:58to your defense in the bout.
01:50:00You know something, Jesse? That's right. Shane and I
01:50:02did win the bout. We would have loved to
01:50:04win them under different circumstances, but
01:50:06we got the one, two, three.
01:50:08Douglas, who was in there, fought tooth and nail, and
01:50:10finally got the belly-to-belly on
01:50:12Barry Windham. But I've got to say this about
01:50:14Dustin Rhodes, even though that you were a
01:50:16competitor against us out there, my friend!
01:50:18That's right, my friend.
01:50:20You showed...
01:50:22Good grief!
01:50:24Barry Windham attacking the champions
01:50:26with that... Oh, my gosh!
01:50:28He's wearing them out with that steel chair!
01:50:32Windham ramming Douglas
01:50:34into the lockers.
01:50:36Good grief!
01:50:38He's annihilating
01:50:40the champions!
01:50:42Oh, man. What a situation, fans.
01:50:44Listen, we're going to talk more about that
01:50:46this weekend. For everybody here in
