00:00:45Rick Rule, and Rick Steiner will attempt to strip Lex Luger of his World Heavyweight title.
00:00:52All this and much more as World Championship Wrestling presents Clash of the Champions.
00:01:01And now live from the Civic Center in historic Savannah, Georgia, Tony Schiavone and Jim
00:01:06Ross.
00:01:07Hello again, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the Clash of Champions.
00:01:08It's going to be a tremendous night of action.
00:01:09We are live here in the Capacity Field, Savannah Civic Center, and Tony, five championships
00:01:21will be decided in the next two and one half hours, and also, Sting will receive his final
00:01:27gift box, and we'll find out the person behind this whole ordeal with the Stinger in this
00:01:33broadcast.
00:01:34Five championships, but a lot of mystery surrounds the World Tag Team title.
00:01:38Will it be Barry Windham, or will Dustin Rhodes indeed have that mystery partner?
00:01:42Well, we know that Barry Windham is here at the Savannah Civic Center tonight.
00:01:46It should be a tremendous matchup.
00:01:47We'll just have to wait and see as The Enforcers wait to defend those World Tag Team titles.
00:01:49Fans, while we get ready for our first event, which is the Lumberjack match, let's go back

00:05:09He's a former WCW champion.
00:05:10He's a former WCW champion.
00:05:11He's a former WCW champion.
00:05:13he comes down to a wrestling match, that Thomas which would win a brawl, invasion has gained
00:05:34Big Josh, humanitarian spirit, perhaps cost his team
00:05:39the Six-Man Tag Team Championship.
00:05:42You saw that event on the main event a few weeks ago.
00:05:46And there you see where the Lumberjacks will come and play here.
00:05:49Here come the Freebirds, Zayn and Todd Chapman.
00:05:57Gotta make sure that Rich gets back in the ring.
00:05:58Young pistols out here, they have had a few words with Todd Chapman.
00:06:06They want those US Tag Titles.
00:06:08Hooks one over, goes Rich to the backdrop.
00:06:12The elbow, right on the chest.
00:06:15He floats over, hooks the leg, and Rich gets out at one.
00:06:18You know, I'm very surprised that WCW permitted members of the York Foundation
00:06:22to be Lumberjacks at this match.
00:06:24Certainly, you know what their motivation is.
00:06:26They're going to try, if possible, to help Rich win.
00:06:29There's Big Josh right out there.
00:06:31Look at Morton and Taylor hammering away at Big Josh.
00:06:36Todd Chapman trying to get in there to help Big Josh.
00:06:39He was stymied somewhat by the young pistols.
00:06:44Some fireworks out here at ringside, in addition to in the ring.
00:06:48All those yellow tickets, the book was thrown right at Big Josh
00:06:51by the Sarge that time.
00:06:53Look at the young pistols taking those cheap shots on Big Josh.
00:06:58And Josh rolled back in.
00:07:02Tremendous crowd on hand here at the Clash of Champions in this capacity
00:07:07here at the Savannah Civic Center.
00:07:09And right now, Thomas Rich has regained the advantage, and
00:07:14he'll even get a greater advantage by using that tape around the throat of Big Josh.
00:07:20You know, you don't want this to become any type of tag team match, but
00:07:23you got the free burns, and you got Todd Chapman certainly sympathetic with Big Josh.
00:07:27But there are five men, apparently, with the pistol sympathetic for
00:07:31Thomas Rich, so the odds are against Big Josh in this match.
00:07:34Elbow right to the face, Big Josh down again, and
00:07:38the veteran from Atlanta, Thomas Rich, has firmly asserted himself in this one.
00:07:45Lateral press, and look at the power of Big Josh.
00:07:53Jim, sometimes I wonder about the killer instinct when you talk about these two
00:07:56former close friends battling it out.
00:07:59Because to win sometimes, you gotta be able to do anything at all costs.
00:08:03And I wonder if Big Josh can really do that in this match.
00:08:07We saw what happened in the six-man title match.
00:08:10Rich again, using that tape illegally to choke Big Josh.
00:08:15Referee Randy Anderson questioning the tactics of Thomas Rich.
00:08:23And now look, it's Steve Armstrong and the Young Pistols.
00:08:29Hayes comes around to try to assist Big Josh.
00:08:35Doesn't seem quite fair, quite frankly, for Big Josh.
00:08:39Suplex.
00:08:41Nicely done by Rich.
00:08:42Well, it is apparent from the move by Armstrong on the outside.
00:08:46Near fall there.
00:08:47It's apparent that the Young Pistols, their talk they had at Halloween Havoc,
00:08:52they mean every bit of it.
00:08:54Well, what a left hand.
00:08:59The Irish whip to the corner, but he caught him coming in.
00:09:01Boy, this has been a physical opener here at the Clash.
00:09:11Now a high-risk attempt by Rich.
00:09:16Big Josh has him, slams him right off the top.
00:09:23And there you see really the first big mistake of the match.
00:09:26Look, I don't think Rich was prepared to go up top.
00:09:28He was winded, he was dazed.
00:09:30He's still trying to do it, had his emotions going, and he's paying for it.
00:09:33Front face lock into a snap suplex.
00:09:35He could have him here, on top.
00:09:37He got two and a half.
00:09:40Side headlock, now both men crisscrossing.
00:09:50And, hey, wait a minute, he got tripped over there, and
00:09:53the only person I saw was Terrence Taylor.
00:09:56Did Taylor trip Rich?
00:09:58There's the Norton exposure, and he's got him.
00:10:00And ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the Lumberjack match, Big Josh.
00:10:07Well, Tony, maybe we'll see right here who tripped him.
00:10:14Okay, here's the crisscross that sets the timing right here.
00:10:17And now, let's take a look.
00:10:19Yes, it is Terrence Taylor holding the leg.
00:10:22The pistols reacted, and then Big Josh reacted with the Norton exposure.
00:10:27And what a turn of events here on the Clash of Champions as Big Josh wins
00:10:31the first match.
00:10:31Fans, when we come back, it's Beautiful Bobby and
00:10:33Firebreaker Chip on the Clash of Champions.
00:10:35Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest,
00:10:40it is set for one fall with a 20-minute time limit.
00:10:46Introducing first to my left, from the WCW Special Forces,
00:10:52weighing 50 pounds, the WCW Special Forces,
00:10:57weighing 50 pounds, the WCW Special Forces,
00:11:01Introducing first to my left, from the WCW Special Forces,
00:11:07weighing 250 pounds, Firebreaker Chip.
00:11:12His opponent, from Huntsville, Alabama, 234 pounds, Beautiful Bobby.
00:11:20Beautiful Bobby and Firebreaker Chip here at the Clash of Champions.
00:11:29And the bell sounds to the now standing one-on-one contest.
00:11:32Collar and elbow tie up, and Beautiful Bobby forcing Chip back into the corner.
00:11:37And we got a clean break.
00:11:39Certainly wanna say hello to all of our great fans back in our home base of
00:11:44Atlanta, and remind everyone of the big event in the Omni on Thanksgiving night.
00:11:48Good hip-hop takeover by Beautiful Bobby.
00:11:50That event in the Omni on Thanksgiving night starts at 8 o'clock, fans, and
00:11:54it's in cooperation with the Starlight Foundation.
00:11:58Jimmy Wright, the Starlight Foundation will have containers out of the concession
00:12:01stand areas for you to donate your loose change, or
00:12:04whatever, to the Starlight Foundation for youngsters and their wishes.
00:12:08Side headlock by the very muscular Firebreaker Chip.
00:12:15Beautiful Bobby, the veteran from Huntsville, Alabama,
00:12:17rolls him over on his shoulders.
00:12:19Eaton giving away 13 pounds in this contest, but
00:12:22his right hand will more than make up for any weight disadvantage he may have.
00:12:28Firebreaker Chip, good move.
00:12:31And he's taking some chances here.
00:12:34It's usually Beautiful Bobby that generates the offense there.
00:12:37He thought, boy, almost had him there, Tony.
00:12:40Well, I tell you, Chip started out by going right down to the mat with a side
00:12:43headlock, and Chip prides himself in his conditioning.
00:12:47And of course, Beautiful Bobby can really go the distance,
00:12:49his 20 minute time limit.
00:12:51So I thought that Chip would try to slow it down and
00:12:52save some of himself for at the end.
00:12:55But Chip went up top, as you said, and it was unusual.
00:12:58Overhand wrist lock.
00:12:59Chip should have the advantage here.
00:13:00He's the stronger of the two.
00:13:02He now has a side headlock.
00:13:05Nicely executed.
00:13:07Headlock takeover.
00:13:09Mike Atkins, a referee, down.
00:13:12Got another near fall.
00:13:13Beautiful Bobby turning a disadvantage into an advantage.
00:13:16Good, smart veteran move.
00:13:18And that's been one of his keys.
00:13:19When you're wrestling Beautiful Bobby,
00:13:21you cannot afford to have a lapse in concentration at any second at all.
00:13:25Because he'll, once again, there he goes.
00:13:27Again, going for the pin.
00:13:31And Beautiful Bobby ramming Firebreaker Chip into the turnbuckle
00:13:35with a lot of velocity there.
00:13:38Eaton is a phenomenal athlete.
00:13:41He has been a world tag team champion on many, many occasions.
00:13:44US tag champion and a world TV champion.
00:13:47Firebreaker Chip, but he made an adjustment in midair.
00:13:50He's going up top now.
00:13:51Another high wrist move.
00:13:52Clothesline.
00:13:53He may have him.
00:13:54He's going for the cover.
00:13:57But Beautiful Bobby is in the ropes.
00:13:59He took a big chance there, Tony.
00:14:00And perhaps if Beautiful Bobby had not been so close to the ropes,
00:14:05he would have secured the pin.
00:14:06Good point that he made an adjustment.
00:14:08But also, Chip was very fortunate that when he went into that turnbuckle,
00:14:11he did not hit flush on the top turnbuckle.
00:14:14That enabled him to make that adjustment and to come back and almost get a win.
00:14:17Good chain wrestling move.
00:14:18Single leg pickup.
00:14:19Maintaining the hammer lock by Beautiful Bobby.
00:14:22Fans up in our next segment.
00:14:25Tony's going to be talking to the man that graces the cover of the WCW magazine
00:14:29this month, United States Heavyweight Champion Sting.
00:14:32A special interview coming up just a little bit later here at the Clash.
00:14:36Hammer lock and half Nelson.
00:14:38Beautiful Bobby in a pending predicament here.
00:14:41And right now, I think we can see, Tony,
00:14:42where the strength advantage of Chip has come to play.
00:14:46It's come to play here, but it can only come to play if he wears down Beautiful Bobby.
00:14:51And Bobby is really not worn down.
00:14:54As far as coming into a win or lose situation, he could win with his strength
00:14:58if Bobby's worn down enough, but he's going to do something else.
00:15:00Chip with an aid to the midsection.
00:15:05Follows it with an Irish whip, but he got caught.
00:15:10Once again, a case of a veteran and a master at turning the tables on you.
00:15:15And Chip came in and everybody could see it happening.
00:15:20High impact backbreaker.
00:15:22He's got the leg hook and the powerful youngster able to kick out there.
00:15:27Good reversal.
00:15:30And this time, Beautiful Bobby goes to the air.
00:15:33Chip rolls through and almost had it.
00:15:36Good concentration to roll through that cross-body press.
00:15:41He blocked that with a raw power.
00:15:44Got both arms hooked, trying to get him down.
00:15:48Another near fall.
00:15:49There have been several in this contest thus far.
00:15:52That past time, Bobby maintained good balance on that backslide.
00:15:55Even though Chip is very powerful, it was all he could do to get Bobby over for it.
00:16:00Up and over goes the firebreaker.
00:16:03Rolls him up.
00:16:06Oh, he came face first right into your living room there.
00:16:10Hit the turnbuckle right with his nose.
00:16:14And he's going to hold it.
00:16:17Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the match, Beautiful Bobby!

00:16:35the Battle Bowl is shaping up to be
00:16:38one of the most exciting sporting events in history.
00:16:41The possibilities of match-ups involving 40 of the WCW's brightest stars
00:16:44are indeed fascinating.
00:16:47They're not just for show.
00:16:50They're for real.
00:16:53It's a match-up for real.
00:16:56It's a match-up for real.
00:17:00Their names will be drawn totally at random
00:17:03at the Lethal Lottery.
00:17:06Imagine Lex Luger drawing Steve's name as his partner
00:17:09or Scott Steiner pitted against his brother Rick.
00:17:12The winner of 10 tag-team matches then advances to the Battle Bowl,
00:17:15a two-ring battle extravaganza with everyone for himself.
00:17:18The lone remaining WCW wrestler in the ring
00:17:21will be declared the winner of this inaugural Battle Bowl
00:17:24at Starcade 91.
00:17:28Welcome back, everybody,
00:17:31to the Clash of Champions here on TBS.
00:17:34And, of course, the question everybody around the world wants to know,
00:17:37who's the person sending the boxes to the WCW?
00:17:40It's the WCW.
00:17:43It's the WCW.
00:17:46It's the WCW.
00:17:49It's the WCW.
00:17:52It's the WCW.
00:17:56Who's the person sending the boxes to Sting?
00:17:59And the final box, we do understand, is tonight.
00:18:02So without further ado, I present to you
00:18:05the United States Heavyweight Champion, Sting!
00:18:08-♪
00:18:11-♪
00:18:14-♪
00:18:17-♪
00:18:20-♪
00:18:24Whoo!
00:18:27Whoa! All right.
00:18:30-♪
00:18:33-♪
00:18:36All right, Stinger, here we are.
00:18:39This is it. Show me a box.
00:18:42Show me a prize. I can't wait.
00:18:45This is just like a party all over again.
00:18:48Tony, how does it feel to be involved in a party?
00:18:51Whoa, and I tell you what, we've seen many boxes.
00:18:59My man, that is a box.
00:19:01This beats the Red Ribbon for sure.
00:19:05This is good, this is real good, yeah.
00:19:12Come on, I want a prize, man, give me a prize.
00:19:27I'll tell you what, the mystery of the, wait a minute.
00:19:34Whoa.
00:19:42It's Medusa.
00:20:04Well, has it been Medusa sending these mysterious gift boxes?
00:20:12He certainly has Sting's attention and.
00:20:19A little bizarre here, I can tell you.
00:20:33And wait a minute, there's Luger.
00:20:47Lex Luger just clipped Sting right in the left knee.
00:20:51The one he had reconstructive surgery on.
00:20:54It's been Lex Luger all the time sending those gift boxes.
00:20:59Luger, what a dastardly attack.
00:21:03It has been the world's heavyweight champion, Lex Luger all along.
00:21:09He came out of that chariot, he kept Sting from behind.
00:21:16Here comes some of Sting's friends, but I think the damage has been done.
00:21:23Medusa was on the SuckerFuge, it was Luger.
00:21:28Fans, we'll be right back, don't go away.
00:21:30And we're back here, ladies and gentlemen, the bell has sounded.
00:21:47Trying to get the referee's attention here.
00:21:50And it's chaotic around here to say the least.
00:21:55Diamond Stud trying to make short work of the Z-Man.
00:21:59And we apologize for being a little bit fragmented here, Tony.
00:22:04But as the fans can see now in the back, Sting is being attended to.
00:22:10They've got him.
00:22:16You hear a beautiful Bobby telling Sting he's got plenty of time.
00:22:19He should get that knee examined.
00:22:22Apparently he's being taken away, Jim.
00:22:26This is so scary, we certainly don't want to digress from the match.
00:22:30But fans, this is much like February of 1990 when he got that knee injured.
00:22:40In Corpus Christi, Texas at a Clash of Champions.
00:22:44Dr. Jim Andrews had major reconstructive surgery for Sting.
00:22:48And look at the dejected look on the U.S. Champion's face.
00:22:52What does this do for the U.S. title match scheduled later on tonight?
00:22:56And there he goes to a medical facility here in Savannah.
00:23:01And we are back at the ring.
00:23:02And I apologize for being a little disheveled as we came on the air.
00:23:07There's a crucifix by the Z-Man.
00:23:10Got him, he's got him, pin him.
00:23:11Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner, the Z-Man.
00:23:19The Z-Man has won the match, but not the war as the 298-pound diamond stud
00:23:25continues to hammer away.
00:23:28And here comes the diamond death drop.
00:23:32He's got him up and drives him right into the canvas.
00:23:37Z-Man got the win, but the diamond stud continued the onslaught
00:23:42as he hears the boos from the fans.
00:23:44Let's take a look one more time at the Z-Man how he got the win.
00:23:49In a crucifix maneuver.
00:23:52And it's really difficult to get this big guy over, but
00:23:54he kept going with the momentum and got the shoulders down with a one, two, three.
00:23:58Fans, when we come back, hopefully an update on Sting, but
00:24:01it will be the world's first time for the Z-Man.
00:24:03Fans, when we come back, hopefully an update on Sting, but
00:24:06it will be the world television title on the line.
00:24:09Sting.
00:24:10Sting.
00:24:11Sting.
00:24:12Sting.
00:24:13Sting.
00:24:14Sting.
00:24:15Sting.
00:24:16Sting.
00:24:34Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest,
00:24:36for the WCW World Television Championship.
00:24:42It is set for one fall with a 15 minute time limit.
00:24:46Introducing first from Motown,
00:24:49weighing 403 pounds,
00:24:52the Wrapmaster,
00:24:53P.N. News.
00:24:54And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent.
00:25:15He is accompanied by Lady Blossom
00:25:18from Hollywood, California,
00:25:21weighing 258 pounds,
00:25:25the World Television Champion,
00:25:27Stunning Steve Austin.
00:25:33Well fans, before this one gets underway,
00:25:35I want to let you know that Sting
00:25:37has been taken to a medical facility here in Savannah.
00:25:41Our colleague, Eric Bischoff,
00:25:43is on the scene with the Stinger.
00:25:46And as soon as we possibly can,
00:25:48we hope to get a report from Eric
00:25:51about Sting's condition.
00:25:56Now once again, Stunning Steve Austin,
00:25:58as many have done here so far,
00:26:00wants to start off quickly, Jim.
00:26:01He must start off quickly against this big
00:26:03403 and a half pound challenger
00:26:05for the Television Championship.
00:26:08Look at the strength of P.N. News,
00:26:11holding Austin up,
00:26:13and takes him right down to the canvas
00:26:15with a great deal of velocity.
00:26:17P.N. News, as I spoke with him earlier today,
00:26:20wants to wrestle a power match.
00:26:22Austin, conversely, is much quicker.
00:26:24He wants to keep it at an up-tempo,
00:26:26but right now it's all P.N. News,
00:26:28and he may make short work of the Television Champion.
00:26:31Clothesline from behind.
00:26:35Tell you what, P.N. News has had a taste
00:26:37of this man before, the World Television Champion.
00:26:42It was on World Championship Wrestling
00:26:45when Lady Blossom gave Austin a pair of brass knucks
00:26:48and he used it to knock out P.N. News
00:26:51and retain the championship just a few weeks ago.
00:26:56But the big man from Motown, using the power,
00:27:00and that's all he's using here is raw power.
00:27:03And Austin now distancing himself from the challenger,
00:27:07rolling out of bounds,
00:27:08but P.N. News coming right out after him.
00:27:11P.N. doing the right thing, Jim,
00:27:13using that raw power, using the power continuously,
00:27:16not letting up at all.
00:27:19Austin just rammed into the steel,
00:27:21and P.N. News is starting out very strongly
00:27:24and very aggressively in this match
00:27:26for the Television Championship of the World.
00:27:29Well, I think P.N. remembers that match
00:27:31you were talking about.
00:27:32He does not want to be denied here on The Clash.
00:27:35Austin's not gonna be able to pick him up.
00:27:37Oh, yes, but he fell back.
00:27:38This may be all.
00:27:39New champion, I have the count away.
00:27:43Incredible, Austin got him up.
00:27:46Incredible, Austin got him up,
00:27:48and incredible that Austin kicked out.
00:27:50P.N. News so into this match,
00:27:52he didn't even want to wrap before the match got started.
00:27:54And the big man, with a kick right to the solar plexus.
00:28:00That one big foot right to the solar plexus.
00:28:05That face lock has him up again.
00:28:10Another suplex, but Austin, foot in the rope here.
00:28:14Every time they get up to verticality,
00:28:17every time they're back up to a vertical base,
00:28:19News has the advantage, and Austin barely able to kick out.
00:28:22Jim, that last time,
00:28:23News made sure he had that vertical advantage
00:28:26on the ramp because he grabbed Austin
00:28:29and pulled him up with him.
00:28:31Both men now out here on this ramp.
00:28:34Austin with a right hand, and here comes Austin.
00:28:39Elevated back in the ring, again falling right on his back.
00:28:43His lower back has taken a tremendous pounding
00:28:46by this huge challenger for the television title.
00:28:50Who continues to do the right thing.
00:28:52Austin goes to the ropes, he goes after Austin.
00:28:55That's what he needs to do to win.
00:28:57Another high impact move, again from that vertical position.
00:29:01Bear hug, he's squeezing it,
00:29:04and there is a belly to belly suplex.
00:29:08News on top, ladder up press,
00:29:10and Blossom puts her man's foot in the rope.
00:29:14Perhaps she just saved the title for Stunning Steve.
00:29:17And now a mistake by T and News.
00:29:21She's not the champion, Stunning Steve is.
00:29:23His emotions are getting the better of him.
00:29:28Actually two mistakes.
00:29:30He should have hooked the foreleg,
00:29:32and Blossom would not have been able
00:29:33to put the leg over the bottom rope.
00:29:35Well, while he's out there with her,
00:29:36Austin is regrouping over the top rope.
00:29:39Austin with a dynamic blow,
00:29:41he came sailing over the top rope,
00:29:43and caught T and News in the back of the head.
00:29:52Austin ramming News' head now into the security railing.
00:29:56And now maneuvers the big challenger back in the ring.
00:30:00I really hate to see this,
00:30:02because that big challenger, as you put it,
00:30:04was really on his game.
00:30:06He was staying on the offense,
00:30:07and now everything, everything is turned around on him.
00:30:14Went for another avalanche there.
00:30:16Got him wrapped up.
00:30:17Austin, feet on the ropes, and he got the pin.
00:30:19Ladies and gentlemen, the winner,
00:30:21and still world television champion,
00:30:24Stunning Steve Austin.
00:30:28Austin retains the championship,
00:30:31but what a fight he had with T and News.
00:30:35And the fans here very irate that Austin used the ropes.
00:30:39He went over the top down on T and News
00:30:41when ill-advised, he was chasing Lady Blossom around.
00:30:44And then that hit of steam at 403 pounds
00:30:47changed the complex of the match.
00:30:48His timing was off.
00:30:50Everything was off for T and News.
00:30:51And then when he went down,
00:30:53the foot went on the ropes,
00:30:54and continuing his role in WCW.
00:30:57Still the world TV champ, Stunning Steve Austin.
00:30:59Fans, when we come back,
00:31:00Missy Hyde has a very special interview.
00:31:05Fight.
00:31:10FIGHT.
00:31:17Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling's
00:31:20Crash of the Champions,
00:31:21where four major titles are still to be decided.
00:31:24But now let's go live to The Ring
00:31:26and Gary Michael Cavetta.
00:31:29Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest,
00:31:32it is set for one fall
00:31:33minute time limit.
00:31:36Introducing first, from Truth or Consequences,
00:31:40New Mexico, weighing 284 pounds,
00:31:46Cactus Jack.
00:31:49Well, I'm sure, ladies and gentlemen,
00:31:50that Cactus Jack is very happy
00:31:52that Sting is at the medical facility here in Savannah.
00:31:55And we are trying to reach Eric Bischoff via telephone.
00:32:00We hope to have that line cleared
00:32:02and be able to speak with Eric
00:32:05regarding the situation with Sting a little bit later.
00:32:09So we're certainly keeping on top of it,
00:32:11and we'll have a report for you as soon as possible.
00:32:14
00:32:19
00:32:24
00:32:29
00:32:34
00:32:39
00:32:44
00:32:49
00:32:54
00:32:59
00:33:04
00:33:09
00:33:14
00:33:15And ladies and gentlemen, his opponent from New York City,
00:33:20weighing 290 pounds, heavy metal,
00:33:25Ben Hammer!
00:33:29
00:33:34
00:33:37Heavy metal, Ben Hammer, got a tremendous ovation
00:33:40here at the Jam Pack Savannah Civic Center
00:33:44here at the Clash of Champions.
00:33:46
00:33:50You know, Jim, many times Ben Hammer
00:33:52turns his back to his opponents.
00:33:53I would not turn my back on Cactus Jack, ever.
00:33:56That's good advice.
00:33:59Cactus Jack, a very reckless, a very dangerous individual.
00:34:03Fans, don't forget, big events all around the country
00:34:06for World Championship Wrestling,
00:34:07including in our home base in the Omni in Atlanta.
00:34:12Thanksgiving night, 8 o'clock.
00:34:15And we've got some tremendous matches lined up
00:34:17for all you fans this weekend on TBS,
00:34:22the power hour, Saturday mornings,
00:34:24WCW Saturday nights, and of course,
00:34:26Tony Schiavone and Missy Hyatt Sunday night
00:34:29on the WCW main event.
00:34:36Wow, he's a tremendous athlete.
00:34:38He's gonna need everything he has.
00:34:39And he turned his back on Cactus Jack,
00:34:42just as Tony Schiavone mentioned.
00:34:44Remember, Hammer is a rookie.
00:34:51One would have to assume that he would be
00:34:53one of the leading contenders,
00:34:55along with Johnny B. Badd,
00:34:57for the rookie of the year in WCW.
00:35:00And Cactus Jack starting out viciously, as usual.
00:35:07These two have met before, as our fans on TBS know.
00:35:10Oh, what a belly-to-back suplex.
00:35:12He drove him to the canvas.
00:35:14Really hammered him.
00:35:16No pun intended.
00:35:17Cactus Jack, right out here on top of us.
00:35:21Get his 284-pound carcass away.
00:35:25Hammer over the top.
00:35:27He nailed him.
00:35:29Cactus Jack, that ugly mug,
00:35:31ran right into the security railing.
00:35:37Hammer with a lot of agility for a man that's 290.
00:35:41Foot right to the face.
00:35:43And he scoops up Cactus.
00:35:47And he wrestles on adrenaline and power,
00:35:50not finesse and technique.
00:35:51He's got the leg hooked, but Cactus Jack able to kick out.
00:35:54Jim, I was very surprised to see Van Hammer
00:35:56go on the outside with Cactus Jack.
00:35:58As we know, that's where he's done so much of his damage.
00:36:01I would let him stay out there by himself.
00:36:04Cactus drove him face-first down.
00:36:07And now Cactus Jack has seemingly
00:36:10regained the advantage here.
00:36:12There's that clothesline.
00:36:14They both go over the top.
00:36:17Here we go.
00:36:18This is where he rules on the outside.
00:36:20He can really hurt you out there with the barricade,
00:36:23using the top.
00:36:24And apparently that's what he's gonna do here.
00:36:27Cactus Jack out on the apron.
00:36:29What's he gonna do here?
00:36:31Hammer's on the floor.
00:36:33Cactus up on that second turnbuckle.
00:36:35There's an elbow drop.
00:36:37He got him.
00:36:39He drove the point of the elbow
00:36:43right into the heart of heavy metal Van Hammer.
00:36:46If championships could be won on the outside,
00:36:49Cactus Jack would be the undefeated champion of the world.
00:36:52No question about that.
00:36:53But I keep thinking back that Cactus was one of the men,
00:36:56and you mentioned earlier, who had come outside,
00:36:58who had come out of the box,
00:37:00and it was Luger all along.
00:37:02Cactus Jack, one of the craziest men in the world.
00:37:04And right now, Van Hammer's in a lot of trouble.
00:37:07Cactus Jack has apparently received a lot of money
00:37:10from the total package Lex Luger,
00:37:12as has Abdul of the Butcher,
00:37:14to put Sting out of WCW.
00:37:17And Sting, of course, still must defend his U.S. title
00:37:21against ravishing Rick Rude.
00:37:23Or will he be able to?
00:37:25That's the big question right now.
00:37:31The fans chanting,
00:37:32Hammer! Hammer!
00:37:34And there's thousands of them here in Savannah.
00:37:41Rick of the eyes by Cactus Jack.
00:37:43A reversal by Heavy Metal Van Hammer.
00:37:45And Cactus Jack went face first.
00:37:47Oh, my God.
00:37:48He got nailed from behind.
00:37:49He may be out.
00:37:51Cactus Jack may be out of it right here.
00:37:53Even more so than normal.
00:37:56He is barely moving.
00:37:59Hammer up on the top.
00:38:02A knee right to the back of the head.
00:38:05He drove it in the back of Cactus Jack's head.
00:38:08That should be all.
00:38:09He should have him right here.
00:38:10And, oh, he kicked out.
00:38:12A half a count or less away
00:38:14from Hammer securing another victory.
00:38:16Remember, he's undefeated here in WCW.
00:38:20Boy, they hit heads there.
00:38:23Cactus Jack again out here near us.
00:38:29Cactus Jack.
00:38:30He's got his guitar, Jim.
00:38:32He's got a guitar.
00:38:33He's got Hammer's guitar.
00:38:35He drove it right in his throat.
00:38:38Cactus Jack drove that guitar right in Hammer's throat.
00:38:41He's got him wrapped up.
00:38:42And Cactus Jack wins it.
00:38:44Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner, Cactus Jack.
00:38:50He's not finished yet either.
00:38:53Cactus Jack hammering away here.
00:38:58He's won this match.
00:39:00Inflicted the first defeat on Hammer.
00:39:03And Hammer comes back, though, with a clothesline.
00:39:07Cactus throwing over the top rope right out to the rampway.
00:39:16Front face-off.
00:39:17What's he gonna do?
00:39:18The slingshot.
00:39:19Oh, my.
00:39:20Cactus Jack bouncing along that rampway.
00:39:26Right shoulder block.
00:39:29What a war we're seeing here.
00:39:31Cactus has won the match.
00:39:34But they are not through fighting.
00:39:37Tony, why don't you take it over?
00:39:40We're gonna try to get this report from Eric momentarily.
00:39:44Okay, we do understand we're trying to hook up with Eric by telephone at this time.
00:39:48Jim is gonna hopefully be talking to Eric.
00:39:51But, I mean, it is wild.
00:39:52It's continuing in the back.
00:39:54Wow, Cactus Jack and Heavy Metal Van Hammer going at it.
00:39:57And as we said, now, Eric Bischoff, we do believe, at this time,
00:40:01is standing by.
00:40:02Get a report from Sting on his condition.
00:40:05He was taken away earlier to a medical facility.
00:40:08All right.
00:40:10Eric, are you there?
00:40:11Tony, Tony, get your head back.
00:40:13Eric, are you there?
00:40:16I'm having trouble hearing Eric Bischoff.
00:40:20We're trying to get our telephone.
00:40:23Eric Bischoff is at a medical facility.
00:40:28Eric, can you hear me?
00:40:32Yes, Jim.
00:40:33Yes, Eric.
00:40:34What is the status of Sting?
00:40:36Okay, I'm outside the emergency room area of this medical facility.
00:40:39And as we speak, Sting is being examined by three different doctors.
00:40:43Now, one of them is an orthopedic surgeon.
00:40:45I haven't been able to get any confirmation as to the extent of that injury.
00:40:50Hold on.
00:40:51All right, one of the orderlies just came out and gave me a quick thumbs-up sign.
00:40:54Now, you know, I don't know what that means.
00:40:56I can only interpret that as hopefully the injury is not as severe as we thought it might be.
00:41:00But on the way over to the ambulance, I'll tell you what,
00:41:02that knee swoll up three, four times its normal size.
00:41:05Sting was in a tremendous amount of pain.
00:41:07But I've never seen anybody with so much adrenaline going through their system.
00:41:10I'll tell you, he's on fire.
00:41:12All right, Eric.
00:41:13Well, certainly keep us apprised of the situation.
00:41:16And as soon as you find out something from the doctor,
00:41:18please get back to us here for all the great fans here in Savannah
00:41:21and our television audience watching at home.
00:41:23I'll stay with it.
00:41:24Okay, thanks a lot, Eric.
00:41:26You bet.
00:41:28Okay, Eric Bischoff at the medical facility with Sting.
00:41:31We'll have more of the Clash of Champions fans.
00:41:33Stay right where you are.
00:41:36♪♪
00:41:49Welcome back, everyone, to the Clash of Champions.
00:41:51Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone back here at ringside.
00:41:53We know you're all concerned about the Stinger.
00:41:55We'll give you another report as soon as possible.
00:41:57But another controversial situation here.
00:41:59Tony surrounds the World Tag Team title.
00:42:01It was at Halloween Havoc on October the 27th
00:42:04when Eric Bischoff was attempting to talk to Barry Windham
00:42:07and Dustin Rhodes when the enforcers struck.
00:42:09We're going to show the fans that piece of videotape.
00:42:11Also, another situation happened recently in Columbus, Georgia.
00:42:14What do you know about this so far?
00:42:16Well, I do know that Barry Windham wrestled with pain after Halloween Havoc
00:42:19under the, really, the doctors told him not to do it.
00:42:22And we do understand he really had severe injury to the hand.
00:42:25He continued to wrestle, further injured the hand.
00:42:27And like you said, we're going to show footage
00:42:29of when Eric was at Halloween Havoc with us and what transpired.
00:42:32We don't know if Windham will be able to wrestle tonight or not.
00:42:34We'll see that in just a few moments.
00:42:36But right now, let's go to the videotape.
00:42:39Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes.
00:42:42Welcome to Halloween Havoc.
00:42:44Barry Windham.
00:42:45I can't believe you!
00:42:47Wait a minute!
00:42:51Hey, what's up?
00:42:54Oh!
00:42:57Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham.
00:42:59Get in there, man.
00:43:00We're taking you to the hospital. Come on.
00:43:02Oh, man, what a way to start Halloween Havoc.
00:43:05Barry Windham...
00:43:08injured at the hands of Arn Anderson.
00:43:10Dustin Rhodes, they're making their way to the hospital.
00:43:15Put to the midsection.
00:43:17Windham, get him down.
00:43:23He's got it.
00:43:25Ladies and gentlemen, the winners of the match,
00:43:27the team of the Metro,
00:43:29Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham.
00:43:34You can see that Windham's in a lot of pain.
00:43:39Still a lot of pain from that injury.
00:43:42So at Halloween Havoc, and there again,
00:43:44he re-injured the wrist.
00:43:45Will he be able to wrestle?
00:43:46Will he be able to stand with his partner
00:43:48and challenge for the World Tag Team title?
00:43:50We've seen this story so many times.
00:43:52There's opportunistic wrestlers.
00:43:53They knew the challenge was there.
00:43:55They've made steps to prevent it.
00:43:56They may have done it.
00:43:57Fans, let's find out how this story unfolds.
00:43:59Let's go back up to our ring announcer, Gary Capetta.
00:44:04Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest,
00:44:06it is for the WCW World Tag Team Championship.
00:44:12Introducing first the champions
00:44:14at a total combined weight of 492 pounds,
00:44:19AA Arn Anderson,
00:44:21the living legend, Larry Zbysko,
00:44:24The Enforcers!
00:44:33Well, Anderson and Zbysko making their way to the ring,
00:44:36the awesome World Tag Team Champions.
00:44:39And we're going to find out here.
00:44:40Here comes...
00:44:41Well, let's let you see for yourself.
00:44:44It's Windham alright, along with Dustin Rhodes.
00:44:50And ladies and gentlemen, their opponents,
00:44:54first from Austin, Texas,
00:44:56weighing 258 pounds,
00:44:59the natural, Dustin Rhodes!
00:45:04His partner from Sweetwater, Texas.
00:45:09Everyone, I'd like to apologize.
00:45:12I'm not going to be able to wrestle tonight
00:45:14because this past week,
00:45:15I had reconstructive surgery on my right hand.
00:45:19But I'll tell you two clowns something right now.
00:45:22Dustin Rhodes and I didn't come alone.
00:45:25And I want to introduce Dustin's tag team partner
00:45:28in this World Tag Team title match.
00:45:37Well, it's going to be a championship matchup.
00:45:41Very unique attire, Tony.
00:45:44And this athlete making his way to the ring.
00:45:47Wow, look at that.
00:45:53Jim, the first thing, with that get-up,
00:45:55the first thing I think of is
00:45:56maybe there's someone from Japan who's here.
00:46:00Well, it could be.
00:46:01I know that Anderson and Zbysko certainly are concerned
00:46:06and rightfully so.
00:46:07This match is for the
00:46:08WCW World Tag Team Championship.
00:46:11Now, right now, Anderson and Zbysko
00:46:13are complaining a great deal to Nick Patrick, the referee.
00:46:20And I'll be interested to see,
00:46:23whoa, exactly who that is.
00:46:26If, in fact, we ever find out.
00:46:31For all we know, it could be a masked man behind there.
00:46:34For all we know, it could be a masked man behind there.
00:46:45Well, Arn Anderson above us, berating us.
00:46:51We have nothing to do with this.
00:46:52We have nothing to do with it.
00:46:53That's your problem.
00:46:54You've got to defend the belt.
00:46:55We don't.
00:46:56Talk to the referee for crying out loud.
00:46:59All right, Dustin going over to his new pointer
00:47:01along with Barry Windham.
00:47:05It's Ricky, the Dragon, Steamboat.
00:47:11The Dragon, Ricky, the Dragon, Steamboat.
00:47:15He has been a World Tag Team Champion on many occasions.
00:47:19It will be Steamboat.
00:47:20And Anderson and Zbysko are going crazy in the ring.
00:47:25This is not what they prepared for, quite obviously.
00:47:28But listen to the ovation that Steamboat is receiving.
00:47:32Here is Savannah, Georgia.
00:47:34Unbelievable fans are standing everywhere.
00:47:40Not a bad setting to look at them.
00:47:42Going nuts.
00:47:44What an entrance.
00:47:51Zbysko and Anderson do not want to relinquish the title belt
00:47:55to referee Nick Patrick.
00:47:57He is a senior official in WCW.
00:48:00And man, these people are going crazy.
00:48:09You mentioned about Ricky Steamboat,
00:48:12former World Tag Team Champions.
00:48:15He was World Tag Team Champions along with Jay Youngblood
00:48:18and with Paul Jones.
00:48:20So he has held those belts on two occasions.
00:48:23Brand new World Tag Team belts, by the way.
00:48:27Wow, what a matchup we're anticipating.
00:48:29Man, I'll tell you what else can happen here tonight
00:48:33at the Clash of Champions.
00:48:35We have had tragedy with Sting being taken to the hospital
00:48:40as Lex Luger with a real cheap shot damaging the knee.
00:48:45But now the elation that Ricky the Dragon Steamboat
00:48:51will join forces with Dustin Rhodes.
00:48:53And this is for the World Tag Team Championship.
00:49:00It will be the Dragon starting out against Arn Anderson.
00:49:04Anderson and Zbysko are masters
00:49:08at the old proverbial game of human chess.
00:49:11And they must adapt here.
00:49:12They must make some adjustments for this quick style
00:49:15of Ricky the Dragon Steamboat.
00:49:23Steamboat opening up with tremendous blows.
00:49:26Zbysko now.
00:49:27And Anderson trying to double-team the Dragon.
00:49:29But he fights out of the corner.
00:49:31Right hands to both champions.
00:49:33Both champions are down.
00:49:36Now all four men are in.
00:49:38They're starting out with tremendous ferocity here.
00:49:42All four now outside.
00:49:46Listen to the crowd.
00:49:48They're taking a rough off this place.
00:49:50The world champions being assaulted.
00:49:54The world champions being assaulted.
00:49:56Anderson tastes the steel.
00:50:05Great veteran move by the Dragon.
00:50:07There's the elbow.
00:50:09Dustin Rhodes back in.
00:50:11Nails Anderson.
00:50:12Inverted atomic drop.
00:50:14And a dropkick.
00:50:15Anderson and Zbysko have got to regroup.
00:50:19The best thing these two men could have done,
00:50:21not those two, but guys on the outside,
00:50:24would be to go on the outside and regroup.
00:50:27Jim, you mentioned they may have to change their strategy.
00:50:30I don't think so.
00:50:31I think they have to use the same thing they brought
00:50:33on the World Tag Team titles.
00:50:35And that's the relentless double-team.
00:50:37Keeping the opponent in their corner.
00:50:39Not to get unglued here and wrestle their tight match
00:50:42regardless of the opponents.
00:50:44He's just a man.
00:50:46He's just a man.
00:50:48He's just a man.
00:50:49They're psyched out.
00:50:50They are completely psyched out by Steamboat.
00:50:52Well, they're out of their rhythm right now.
00:50:54Obviously, they did not anticipate Ricky,
00:50:56the Dragon Steamboat, in Dustin Rhodes' corner.
00:50:59We had so much controversy.
00:51:01Would Wyndham wrestle?
00:51:02Would he not?
00:51:03We all knew he was hurt.
00:51:04There was a million stories circulating around.
00:51:07But it was never told to us that he definitely
00:51:11would not be wrestling.
00:51:12I saw him earlier today.
00:51:14He was closed-mouthed about it then.
00:51:16Side headlock by the Dragon.
00:51:18On the veteran, Larry Zabisko.
00:51:21Zabisko said he wanted to be called the Cruncher.
00:51:25After crunching Wyndham's hand in that car,
00:51:28just call me the Cruncher from now on.
00:51:30Okay.
00:51:31Good tackle by the Dragon.
00:51:32Side headlock takeover.
00:51:34He is so quick.
00:51:35But he did a pretty good thing there.
00:51:36Good veteran move by Zabisko.
00:51:38I tell you, Ricky's really changed things up here.
00:51:40And Zabisko almost got him for the 1, 2, 3.
00:51:42They need to go right back once again
00:51:44to keeping the enforcers off balance.
00:51:46Wear them down.
00:51:47Use the high-risk maneuvers.
00:51:48Go for the fast style.
00:51:50I don't know if wrestling on the mat is gonna work
00:51:52or not against the enforcers.
00:51:54The youthful enthusiasm of young Dustin Rhodes.
00:51:57He holds on to the arm.
00:52:00Tag made.
00:52:01And they're tagging in and out.
00:52:03Good quick exchange there.
00:52:05The Dragon up top.
00:52:08That karate thrust right to the shoulder.
00:52:12And now Steamboat taking Anderson to a neutral corner.
00:52:16They're right here beside us.
00:52:18Zabisko's arm right around the steel.
00:52:23He's got it again.
00:52:28Trying to damage the shoulder of Zabisko
00:52:31as Ricky the Dragon Steamboat.
00:52:33And now he pulls him back into his corner.
00:52:35Tags in Dustin Rhodes.
00:52:36And Rhodes comes down with a knee.
00:52:38Working on the arm with the arm bar.
00:52:40Jim, this has been good teamwork.
00:52:42And some people may feel that, hey,
00:52:44Steamboat and Rhodes, their first time together
00:52:46that we know of, maybe will not work well as a team.
00:52:50But to be a good tag team wrestler,
00:52:53you first gotta be a great singles wrestler.
00:52:55And both men are.
00:52:56So their teamwork, what we've seen so far,
00:52:59which has been good,
00:53:00comes, if I can use the term, naturally.
00:53:03There's a tag made.
00:53:06Arne Anderson in now.
00:53:09With those volatile left hands,
00:53:12shoving young Dustin Rhodes back into the corner.
00:53:17Big time left.
00:53:19Got the kid right above the eye.
00:53:21He hit him again.
00:53:22Right above the eye.
00:53:24Steamboat keeping this crowd into it.
00:53:27The emotion so important for a young wrestler like Rhodes.
00:53:30But he was overzealous.
00:53:32He made a mistake there by rushing the corner.
00:53:35And Anderson buried the knee.
00:53:37Now Anderson, right up above us,
00:53:39going for a high wrist move.
00:53:41And Dustin caught him.
00:53:44Oh, he broke the eye.
00:53:46And Anderson does come off the top
00:53:48with a double axe handle.
00:53:50Right on the shoulder.
00:53:51Anderson is a visco now.
00:53:53Trying to settle it down.
00:53:55Trying to regain the momentum.
00:53:57They've got the youngest man in the match.
00:54:00And I would think, Tony,
00:54:02to try to focus on young Dustin.
00:54:04But he came up with a great move there.
00:54:06And another one.
00:54:08That big cowboy been right to the face.
00:54:10Anderson in trouble.
00:54:12Bionic elbow.
00:54:13Got the kid.
00:54:16Just like Steve Avery pitched the Atlanta Braves
00:54:20to so many big victories,
00:54:22this young man is going to do it again.
00:54:26He has grown up in a hurry.
00:54:28And what a partner he has here on November the 19th.
00:54:32And that partner is calming him down right now,
00:54:34keeping him in the corner.
00:54:36You know what amazes me about Arne Anderson
00:54:38during that exchange?
00:54:39That regardless of the situation,
00:54:41Arne Anderson wrestles each and every move
00:54:44with such confidence.
00:54:45And even though he's on the outside now,
00:54:47he has a great amount of confidence
00:54:49just the way he carries himself in the ring.
00:54:51Anderson makes a tackle.
00:54:54Anderson makes a tag very wisely.
00:54:56Gets in.
00:54:57Zabisko.
00:55:01And I tell you, Jim,
00:55:02if anybody can slow down momentum,
00:55:03it's the mouth of Larry Zabisko.
00:55:05He'll argue with a referee.
00:55:06He'll argue with you and me.
00:55:07He'll argue with a cameraman.
00:55:08And right now, he is slowing everything way down.
00:55:11That's a good strategy, quite frankly.
00:55:14Very frustrating.
00:55:15And he wanted Steamboat.
00:55:18He gets Steamboat.
00:55:21Two great veterans that have headlined
00:55:23major wrestling events around the world.
00:55:26Zabisko with the advantage.
00:55:28Karate kick.
00:55:30A page out of Zabisko's book
00:55:32with that karate kick.
00:55:37That was insulting.
00:55:39And it has infuriated Steamboat.
00:55:42Steamboat chasing Zabisko out of the ring.
00:55:45Now gutting by the hair.
00:55:46But it's Anderson from behind.
00:55:50Here comes Dustin Rhodes.
00:55:52He's gonna be put outside.
00:55:54And a double team by the Enforcers.
00:55:56Jim, that exchange right there
00:55:58may have looked a little bit helter-skelter,
00:56:00but it was all well thought out and planned
00:56:02by a great tag team, the Enforcers.
00:56:05Great suplex, lateral press now.
00:56:07Going for the cover here.
00:56:08And the Dragon able to kick out.
00:56:10One of his great attributes has always been
00:56:12his cardiovascular conditioning.
00:56:14He can go 60 minutes if necessary.
00:56:18This match has a 30-minute time limit
00:56:20for television purposes.
00:56:23The Enforcers know about that cardiovascular conditioning.
00:56:26That is why they are going to attempt right here
00:56:28to do as much double teaming as humanly possible.
00:56:33Irish whip.
00:56:34Man, he really sent him to the corner.
00:56:36It shook the entire ring here.
00:56:39And the Enforcers, one would think,
00:56:42as long as they can control the tempo and slow it down,
00:56:45will have the advantage.
00:56:47And remember, the time limit
00:56:49is in the favor of the champions.
00:56:52They do not have to win.
00:56:53They just have to keep from losing.
00:56:55As Timo fights back.
00:56:57Karate kicks and chops.
00:57:01Anderson with a dangerous low blow there.
00:57:03Caught him around the belt line.
00:57:06Sunset flip.
00:57:07Trying to tag.
00:57:09Did he tag?
00:57:10I couldn't see it.
00:57:11He did.
00:57:12Yes, he did.
00:57:13That was a great tag executed by the champions
00:57:17as Anderson about to get in a pinning predicament.
00:57:21Now a scoop slam.
00:57:22Here comes the high impact moves.
00:57:24And the tempo is now being controlled
00:57:28by the Enforcers.
00:57:29Their championship on the line here.
00:57:32An abdominal stretch.
00:57:34And he gets an illegal assist from his partner.
00:57:37Great camera work.
00:57:38Taking you right inside the ring.
00:57:43On that tag back there,
00:57:44I'm also going to give credit to Nick Patrick.
00:57:46That was great refereeing.
00:57:47Great officiating.
00:57:48It's been a long time since we have felt
00:57:50the atmosphere that we are feeling here tonight
00:57:53in Savannah, Georgia.
00:57:54And fans, you are watching it live
00:57:56right here on TBS.
00:57:58Another tag.
00:57:59Here comes Anderson.
00:58:00And they're double teaming.
00:58:01The emotions of young Dustin Rhodes.
00:58:04Quite frankly, hurting his partner here.
00:58:07You can't blame the kid.
00:58:09He wants to win this so badly.
00:58:11Great move.
00:58:12Two big offensive moves.
00:58:13The elbow and then the back suplex.
00:58:16Great point, Jim.
00:58:17Sometimes you think it's best to try.
00:58:19He may have him right here.
00:58:21Two and a half.
00:58:22Two and a half on that near fall.
00:58:24It may be best to work on the veteran
00:58:27so the youngster will blow up on the outside
00:58:30enabling many double teams.
00:58:32I think the strategy has been good for the Enforcers.
00:58:34I think it's right to work on Steve Bowe.
00:58:36Keep Dustin on the outside.
00:58:39These fans here are really into this one.
00:58:42And we hope you're enjoying it at home.
00:58:45Anderson said early.
00:58:47He said early and he paid for it.
00:58:50Oh, this match is taking its physical toll.
00:58:54Remember, we still have more championships to be decided
00:58:59here tonight on TBS.
00:59:02Kick to the back.
00:59:04Lateral press.
00:59:05Is Steve Bowe worn down enough?
00:59:07No, he's not.
00:59:08And he comes at fighting.
00:59:10Man, you talk about fighting hard.
00:59:12That's the epitome of Ricky Steamboat.
00:59:14He will not quit.
00:59:15There's another lateral press.
00:59:17Again, a near fall.
00:59:19Zabisko would like to have a quick count.
00:59:22It was a small thing, but after Zabisko got the maneuver.
00:59:25Watch out.
00:59:27He fell back.
00:59:28Oh, a half away.
00:59:30Maybe less.
00:59:31Zabisko's placement of Ricky Steamboat
00:59:33was really key right there.
00:59:34He picked him up.
00:59:35He slammed him on the other side of the half of the ring.
00:59:39Drop toehold and a tag.
00:59:42Steamboat unable to negotiate a tag with his partner.
00:59:45A cheap shot by Anderson.
00:59:47And it has brought Dustin in exactly what
00:59:49Anderson and Zabisko wanted.
00:59:52That's exactly right.
00:59:53So regardless of the cardiovascular condition
00:59:55of Ricky Steamboat, the right man is in for this double team.
00:59:58They need to continue to work on it.
01:00:00Each and every time Dustin comes in, it hurts things.
01:00:03And Dustin really getting the crowd behind the dragon.
01:00:12Steamboat's last major championship in WCW
01:00:15was the heavyweight champion of the world.
01:00:19Bear hug.
01:00:21And I'll tell you, they are punishing
01:00:23the lower back of the dragon.
01:00:28The pain etched on the face of Steamboat.
01:00:31And now Anderson.
01:00:33Oh, he got wrapped up.
01:00:36Trying to get him in a body scissors.
01:00:38But Anderson now with a counter to a Boston Crab.
01:00:42Putting tremendous pressure on the lower back.
01:00:44No wasted movement.
01:00:45And look again at an illegal assist by Larry Zabisko.
01:00:49There's Dustin in.
01:00:52Did not get a tag.
01:00:54Anderson, in executing the Boston Crab, moved to his corner.
01:01:00And Zabisko's doing it again.
01:01:02He is walking towards the corner.
01:01:03This is great tag team work.
01:01:05And I'll tell you what, Steamboat's in major trouble right now.
01:01:08We've talked about it so many times.
01:01:10Great tag teams will draw an imaginary line
01:01:12diagonally across the ring.
01:01:14They will wrestle the match as much as they can
01:01:16in their half of the ring.
01:01:18And that's what you're seeing right here.
01:01:20This is the classic tag team strategy.
01:01:23This is what you have to employ if you're going to be a champion.
01:01:27Steamboat fighting with everything he has to make a tag.
01:01:31Crawling with every ounce of energy and determination in his body.
01:01:35Zabisko about to lose control.
01:01:37Dustin almost to make a tag.
01:01:39And their hands touch.
01:01:41He got it.
01:01:42He got it.
01:01:43But, oh, my.
01:01:44The referee didn't see it.
01:01:46Anderson saw the tag coming.
01:01:48He got the referee's attention.
01:01:49And it worked.
01:01:52Referee did not see the tag.
01:01:54Anderson is in now.
01:01:57Went for that left hand.
01:02:01Atomic drop.
01:02:02Oh, my.
01:02:03Their heads cracked.
01:02:04You can hear it right here, right by us.
01:02:06Their heads cracked like a gun exploding.
01:02:10You know, I think Anderson could get the pin if he was able to.
01:02:14Anderson crawling out here right above us.
01:02:17Right here on the apron.
01:02:20This is sheer athletic instinct on the part of Arn Anderson
01:02:23to even get up on the rope now.
01:02:25To put the dragon away.
01:02:27If he hits a high-risk move, he'll do it.
01:02:30On top.
01:02:31Oh, both feet.
01:02:33Now, can Steenbult cover it?
01:02:37Or make the tag?
01:02:38Anderson is out of it.
01:02:40The championship of the world is on the line.
01:02:43And it's in deep jeopardy here.
01:02:46Steenbult trying to get to the corner.
01:02:49The tag that can.
01:02:50The natural is well rested.
01:02:54Listen to the crowd.
01:02:56He's so close to the tag.
01:03:01There's the tag.
01:03:06Dustin Rhodes on fire here.
01:03:10Irish whip.
01:03:11The clarion scoops up Anderson.
01:03:16The 21-year-old is cooking now.
01:03:23Tremendous right hands.
01:03:25Very versatile by Anderson.
01:03:27And the bulldog.
01:03:28He got him.
01:03:29He got him with the bulldog.
01:03:31Steenbult in.
01:03:34All over the top.
01:03:36I don't understand why.
01:03:37Was there a tag made?
01:03:39Yes, there was.
01:03:41Steenbult is the legal man.
01:03:43He's up on top.
01:03:44Anderson dazed.
01:03:45Crossbody press.
01:03:47Will he get it now?
01:03:48Yes, he does.
01:03:50We've got new champions.
01:03:51We've got new tag team champions.
01:03:53Ladies and gentlemen, the winners and new world tag team champions,
01:03:59Ricky the Dragon Steenbult and the natural Dustin Rhodes.
01:04:06Almost 10,000 fans are standing.
01:04:09New tag team champions of the world have been crowned.
01:04:13Steenbult came off the top with a clincher.
01:04:17What a match.
01:04:23Okay.
01:04:24Early on, the enforcers were strong with a big elbow on the back of the neck.
01:04:29Then he converted that into a belly-to-back suplex.
01:04:33Four of the greatest athletes ever converged.
01:04:36And at the end, the big one over the top.
01:04:39As Anderson grabs me and screams,
01:04:41we're taking a look one more time at the one, two, three.
01:04:44One of the most emotional moments you'll ever want to see.
01:04:46We have new world tag team champions.
01:04:49Fans, when we come back,
01:04:50we'll have a special feature on Jushin Thunder Liger.
01:04:53And there you saw the surprise.
01:04:56Who would be Dustin's partner?
01:04:58It would be Ricky the Dragon Steenbult on a night that we will never forget.
01:05:02New world tag team champions have been crowned.
01:05:05And you have seen it live right here on TBS.
01:05:10Welcome back, everyone, to the Clash of Champions.
01:05:12Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone back down at ringside.
01:05:15And what a match we just saw a few moments ago.
01:05:18New world tag team champions.
01:05:20But they tell us from the locker room area that the former champions,
01:05:23as we see it, the enforcers are having a problem with that decision.
01:05:27So we're going to have to wait and see.
01:05:29We're going to have to wait and see.
01:05:31We're going to have to wait and see.
01:05:33We're going to have to wait and see.
01:05:35We're going to have to wait and see.
01:05:37The enforcers are having a problem with that decision.
01:05:39They are.
01:05:40You know, they were grabbing both of us during the replay and complaining.
01:05:43We do understand from the back that they say, of course,
01:05:46they did not sign a contract to wrestle Dustin and Steenbult.
01:05:50They signed a contract, they say, to wrestle Dustin and Barry Wyndham.
01:05:53Therefore, they feel they should still be world tag team champions.
01:05:56Well, many of the WCW officials are here in attendance.
01:05:58We hope to get that matter sorted out before we go off the air.
01:06:01Also, ladies and gentlemen, we hope to hear back from our colleague,
01:06:04Eric Bischoff.
01:06:05Sting is still at the medical facility.
01:06:07We hope to have a report on that very, very soon.
01:06:09But another thing that's coming your way very soon
01:06:12is the arrival here in the United States
01:06:14of one of the great light heavyweights of our time,

01:06:21between Flyin' Brian and Johnny B. Badd.

01:06:25at this great young star from Japan,

01:07:32Jushin Thunder Liger on his way to WCW
01:07:34around Christmas time.
01:07:35I've been joined by the manager of Ravishing Rick Rude,
01:07:38Paulie Dangerously.
01:07:39It looks like the U.S. title match
01:07:41may be in jeopardy this evening
01:07:42because of staying in the hospital.
01:07:44First of all, let me state this.
01:07:46On behalf of Mr. Rick Rude,
01:07:49it was a terrible tragedy
01:07:51what happened to Sting tonight.
01:07:53Both Mr. Rude and myself are ashamed
01:07:55to have ever met Lex Luger.
01:07:57We're even more ashamed to have ever met Medusa,
01:08:00to be very honest with you.
01:08:02But business is business.
01:08:05And this, gentlemen and ladies,
01:08:07is the official contract
01:08:09for the United States Heavyweight Championship match.
01:08:12Tonight, it has been negotiated by my lawyers.
01:08:16Right now, in the locker room,
01:08:19the WCW Championship Committee,
01:08:22the board of directors,
01:08:23my attorneys, and my good friend Mr. Jim Hurd.
01:08:27And they're all back there pondering over one clause.
01:08:31Page 12, section 6.1, article 6.
01:08:36You want to get a close-up,
01:08:37go right ahead.
01:08:38Too late.
01:08:39It states, and you can read it there,
01:08:41I'm not lying this time.
01:08:43Should, by accident, act of God or injury,
01:08:48the United States Heavyweight Champion
01:08:51not appear in the ring by bell time,
01:08:55the United States Heavyweight Championship
01:08:58will be forfeited,
01:09:00and the title will be assumed
01:09:02by Ravishing Rick Rude.
01:09:05Ladies and gentlemen,
01:09:07I am very sorry
01:09:08that Sting will not be here tonight.
01:09:10I had nothing to do with it.
01:09:12But should he not appear here by bell time,
01:09:15there will be a new
01:09:16United States Heavyweight Champion.
01:09:19Nothing you can do about it.
01:09:20Nothing Jim Hurd,
01:09:21nothing the Championship Committee,
01:09:23nothing WCW can do about it.
01:09:26And the new champion,
01:09:27without even breaking a sweat,
01:09:29will be Ravishing Rick Rude.
01:09:31Well, ladies and gentlemen,
01:09:32it certainly, it was exactly as he read it.
01:09:35Will Sting lose his title by forfeit?
01:09:37We'll talk more about it,
01:09:38and we'll have more in the Clash
01:09:39right after this.
01:09:40Time out.
01:09:42♪♪
01:09:58Welcome back to the Clash of Champions, everybody.
01:10:00Tony Schiavone ringside
01:10:01along with Jim Ross
01:10:02and some startling more news
01:10:04developing around Sting and his situation
01:10:06about Paulie,
01:10:07and he says if he doesn't get back,
01:10:08we saw the contract,
01:10:09Jim saw it,
01:10:10that he will forfeit the U.S. title.
01:10:12Jim right now is on the telephone
01:10:14with Eric Bischoff,
01:10:15who I understand is with Sting.
01:10:17Jim, go ahead.
01:10:18Eric, can you hear me?
01:10:19Yes, I can, Jim.
01:10:20Well, as you know,
01:10:21Paulie Dangerously has found
01:10:23some sort of loophole.
01:10:24I read it in the contract.
01:10:25It is official.
01:10:26If Sting is not back for his match,
01:10:28he must forfeit the title
01:10:29to Ravishing Rick Rude.
01:10:31But what is Sting's situation now
01:10:33at the medical facility?
01:10:35All right, Jim,
01:10:36I'm about 20 feet from the examining room
01:10:37and I can see now
01:10:38it looks like everybody's filing out of here
01:10:40one at a time.
01:10:41Evidently, they're done.
01:10:42All right, Sting is now,
01:10:43hold on,
01:10:44he's making his way out.
01:10:45Bear with me just one second.
01:10:47First of all,
01:10:48Sting,
01:10:49I don't know,
01:10:50you don't know this,
01:10:51but Paulie Dangerously
01:10:52has found a loophole
01:10:53in the contract.
01:10:54Evidently,
01:10:55if you do not make it back
01:10:56to the arena in time,
01:10:57you must forfeit the match
01:10:59and the title
01:11:00to the challenger,
01:11:01Ravishing Rick Rude.
01:11:03What are you talking about?
01:11:04It's official.
01:11:05It is official.
01:11:06Well,
01:11:07you get in there
01:11:08and get somebody to drive this ambulance back.
01:11:09I'm getting back to the building right now.
01:11:11Sting, what about the leg?
01:11:12The condition of the leg?
01:11:13I don't care about the leg right now.
01:11:14You get somebody to drive the van
01:11:15or this thing.
01:11:16I'm going to drive it myself,
01:11:17if I have to.
01:11:18But get going.
01:11:19Get somebody to drive.
01:11:20All right, Jim,
01:11:21I don't know if you can hear it.
01:11:23Sting has just commandeered an ambulance
01:11:25and he's...
01:11:26Sting, wait!
01:11:28Well, apparently,
01:11:29Eric has gone.
01:11:30Sting on his way back
01:11:31to the arena here,
01:11:32and we'll certainly keep you updated
01:11:34on that situation.
01:11:35Tony,
01:11:36you want to take it back to Gary?
01:11:37Okay, let's go back to the ring
01:11:39and Gary Michael Cappetta.
01:11:41Ladies and gentlemen,
01:11:42the following contest,
01:11:44it is for the
01:11:45World Light Heavyweight Championship.
01:11:49It is set for one fall
01:11:51with a 30-minute time limit.
01:11:5530-minute time limit.
01:12:13Introducing first,
01:12:15the challenger,
01:12:16the godfather of world championship wrestling,
01:12:19Theodore Arlong,
01:12:21proudly presents
01:12:23from Macon, Georgia,
01:12:24weighing 235 pounds,
01:12:27Johnny B. Badd.
01:12:37Johnny B. Badd
01:12:38with a lot of pageantry here,
01:12:40the challenger.
01:12:42It has been rumored that
01:12:43he and Peanut Head
01:12:46are having some problems.
01:12:49Apparently, those problems
01:12:50have been rectified.
01:12:51They had a little verbal confrontation,
01:12:53Tony, on WCW this past Saturday.
01:12:59Young ladies there.
01:13:01Putting a dollar in the old garter belt.
01:13:04Well, I really don't know
01:13:05what to say about that.
01:13:06The only thing I can say,
01:13:07thinking back to what we've just heard,
01:13:09you on the telephone with Eric,
01:13:10apparently the last thing I heard,
01:13:11Eric said,
01:13:12wait a minute,
01:13:13you can't take the ambulance.
01:13:15Well, staying not aware
01:13:16of that forfeit clause,
01:13:17quite obviously,
01:13:18and the good news is
01:13:20is that they're on their way
01:13:21back to the arena.
01:13:22The question still remains,
01:13:24will he make it back here on time?
01:13:26I'm not so sure how far it is
01:13:28from the medical facility
01:13:29back here to the arena,
01:13:31but I did see in the contract
01:13:33for once Paul E. Dangerously
01:13:35is telling the truth,
01:13:36and I know it's hard to believe
01:13:38for you fans out there.
01:13:41And ladies and gentlemen,
01:13:43his opponent,
01:13:45from Cincinnati, Ohio,
01:13:47weighing 220 pounds,
01:13:49the light heavyweight champion
01:13:51of the world,
01:13:53Brian Bryan.
01:13:59Brian Bryan to defend his
01:14:01WCW light heavyweight championship.
01:14:06One fall, 30 minute time limit.
01:14:09Mike Atkins, a referee.
01:14:13And Johnny B. Bad has
01:14:16had to work very diligently,
01:14:17Tony, to make weight.
01:14:19He only made weight
01:14:20about a week or so ago.
01:14:22Has been wrestling at about 242,
01:14:25but the light heavyweight limit,
01:14:27I believe is 235,
01:14:29if I'm not mistaken,
01:14:30or 236.
01:14:31That's correct, 236.
01:14:33As we take a look
01:14:34at the light heavyweight title,
01:14:35Jim, a couple of things
01:14:36come to mind here.
01:14:37Johnny B. Bad is so much flash,
01:14:39so much pizazz.
01:14:40He loves the show.
01:14:42He loves to intimidate,
01:14:43and you and I both know
01:14:44that there's...
01:14:46And I love you, baby.
01:14:49If one focused athlete in WCW,
01:14:51there's many,
01:14:52but primarily flying Bryan
01:14:53is that man.
01:14:54Well, I was in London
01:14:55and Dublin with Johnny B. Bad
01:14:58on a promotional tour
01:14:59the last three or four days or so.
01:15:01We got back Sunday.
01:15:02He's had one day
01:15:03to get rid of the jet lag,
01:15:05but with the emotion
01:15:06in this arena,
01:15:07I don't know how anybody
01:15:08could have any lag of any kind.
01:15:10But this kid,
01:15:11with a 58-2 amateur boxing record,
01:15:14including a victory
01:15:15over Razor Ruddick,
01:15:17three-time Golden Gloves
01:15:18champion of New York,
01:15:19is here with one thing
01:15:23on his mind,
01:15:24and that's to make history.
01:15:25A rookie winning
01:15:26the light heavyweight title,
01:15:27and those body punches
01:15:28are very, very devastating.
01:15:32Oh!
01:15:33Cops by Pillman.
01:15:37The elevator!
01:15:38Way up in the lights here!
01:15:42Drop kick!
01:15:43And Johnny B. Bad
01:15:44up and over the top rope
01:15:45out on the rampway!
01:15:46Flying Brian Poise
01:15:47over the top
01:15:48with an air Pillman!
01:15:52Flying Brian scoring
01:15:53with some high-risk offense
01:15:55in the early going here.
01:15:57You know, Jim,
01:15:58a lot of times we say
01:16:00in WCW...
01:16:03Watch out here.
01:16:04They're not gonna be able
01:16:05to pin each other here.
01:16:06Mike Agus needs to get control,
01:16:07get him back in the ring.
01:16:08A lot of times we say
01:16:09the challenger...
01:16:10Oh, my goodness!
01:16:11He took him right off the ramp
01:16:13to the steel railing.
01:16:16Johnny B. Bad
01:16:17kicking away
01:16:18at Flying Brian.
01:16:19Now, remember,
01:16:20he is a rookie.
01:16:21Flying Brian has been in the sport
01:16:23just a few years himself,
01:16:25but he's got many more matches
01:16:26than does Johnny B. Bad.
01:16:31Well, Jim,
01:16:32back to the point.
01:16:33A lot of times
01:16:34the challenger
01:16:35may be hungrier
01:16:36than the champion,
01:16:37but maybe the hungriest champion
01:16:38in WCW
01:16:39is Flying Brian.
01:16:40It's a new champion.
01:16:41He is the first
01:16:42light heavyweight champion,
01:16:43and here he is...
01:16:44Over the top!
01:16:45Crossbody!
01:16:46He hooked the leg
01:16:47but couldn't get three.
01:16:49Johnny B. Bad up
01:16:50very quickly.
01:16:54Power slam by Pillman.
01:16:57And now
01:16:58Flying Brian
01:16:59ascends to the top.
01:17:02High wrist move here
01:17:03by the champion.
01:17:04And oh, my!
01:17:05Oh, my!
01:17:07The knees
01:17:08buried to the abdomens.
01:17:11And Pillman now
01:17:12at a distinct disadvantage.
01:17:15Elbow.
01:17:17I think the longer
01:17:18this match goes,
01:17:19the more it is
01:17:21for the advantage
01:17:22of the man
01:17:23with the most experience.
01:17:24Johnny B. Bad
01:17:25trying to get it over
01:17:26early here,
01:17:27and Flying Brian
01:17:28has to be aware
01:17:29of the left hook.
01:17:30That is the key
01:17:31offensive move
01:17:32that Johnny B. Bad
01:17:33utilizes.
01:17:35Johnny B. Bad
01:17:36going up top,
01:17:37and I think
01:17:38the quickness
01:17:39that Flying Brian
01:17:40is known for
01:17:41has let him down
01:17:42just a little bit here.
01:17:43Oh!
01:17:44Pillman!
01:17:45He met him coming off
01:17:46with a dropkick.
01:17:47What a dynamic
01:17:48offensive move
01:17:49by the WCW Light
01:17:50Heavyweight Champion.
01:17:53Two things to that move,
01:17:54and that was
01:17:55timing athletically
01:17:56and athletic ability.
01:17:57Uh-oh.
01:18:00Boy, this match
01:18:01going back and forth.
01:18:03Neither man being able
01:18:04to sustain
01:18:05an advantage
01:18:06for very long.
01:18:10Johnny B. Bad
01:18:11misses.
01:18:12Missed the clothesline,
01:18:13and Pillman caught him
01:18:14with a spinning kick.
01:18:16On top,
01:18:17lateral press,
01:18:18leg hook,
01:18:19but Johnny B. Bad
01:18:20able to kick out.
01:18:22Johnny B. Bad
01:18:23with a 15-pound
01:18:24weight advantage.
01:18:25Pillman missed
01:18:26that clothesline,
01:18:27and Johnny B. Bad
01:18:28did not miss his.
01:18:29He caught Pillman
01:18:30right in the mouth.
01:18:32May have busted
01:18:33his lip.
01:18:35Loosened some teeth,
01:18:36and now
01:18:37the rookie,
01:18:38Johnny B. Bad,
01:18:39up on top.
01:18:40Another chance
01:18:41he's going to take here.
01:18:43Sunset flip.
01:18:45He's got him pinned,
01:18:46and Long
01:18:47has the referee
01:18:48diverted.
01:18:49Johnny B. Bad
01:18:50had Pillman
01:18:51in a pinning predicament,
01:18:52and Peanuthead
01:18:53is having a debate
01:18:54with Mike Atkins.
01:18:57And now they're having
01:18:58some more words.
01:18:59Johnny B. Bad
01:19:00telling him to get down
01:19:01off the apron.
01:19:02Went for that left hook.
01:19:04Oh, he ran into Long.
01:19:06Pillman's got him cradled,
01:19:07and he's going to win it.
01:19:08Ladies and gentlemen,
01:19:09the winner,
01:19:10and still light
01:19:11heavyweight champion,
01:19:12Balayan Bryan.
01:19:17Well, Pillman
01:19:18retains the championship
01:19:20with a very,
01:19:22that's a very
01:19:23unique cradle there,
01:19:24but it came after
01:19:25Peanuthead,
01:19:26and,
01:19:27oh, there's a left hook.
01:19:30I think
01:19:32the managerial career
01:19:33of Long,
01:19:34as it relates
01:19:35to Johnny B. Bad,
01:19:36may have come to a
01:19:37screeching halt.
01:19:40To a tutti-frutti
01:19:41halt, so to speak.
01:19:42Well, I'll tell you
01:19:43something.
01:19:44Well, fans,
01:19:45we know that Sting
01:19:46is on his way back
01:19:47to the arena here,
01:19:48and coming up
01:19:49right after our
01:19:50next commercial break
01:19:51will be the
01:19:52United States Tag
01:19:53Heavyweight Championship.
01:19:54Sting must be here
01:19:55in the ring,
01:19:56or he must forfeit
01:19:57the title.
01:19:58Well,
01:19:59it is really
01:20:00a terrible situation
01:20:01for Sting.
01:20:02He's been out
01:20:03of the ring
01:20:04for a long time,
01:20:05a terrible situation
01:20:06for Sting.
01:20:07We don't know where
01:20:08they are in relation
01:20:09to the building here,
01:20:10but hopefully,
01:20:11they're very close,
01:20:12Jim.
01:20:13Fans,
01:20:14the United States
01:20:15Heavyweight Championship
01:20:16is on the line next.
01:20:17We'll be back on TBS
01:20:18right after this
01:20:19brief timeout.
01:20:30Ladies and gentlemen,
01:20:31the following contest,
01:20:32it is for the WZW.
01:20:35United States
01:20:36Heavyweight Championship.
01:20:38It is for one fall
01:20:40with a 60-minute
01:20:42time limit.
01:21:06The following contest,
01:21:07it is for one fall
01:21:08with a 60-minute
01:21:09time limit.
01:21:35Excuse me!
01:21:36But I'd like to once
01:21:37again reiterate
01:21:38what a horrible
01:21:39tragedy has occurred
01:21:40here tonight.
01:21:42What a horrible
01:21:43tragedy this has
01:21:44occurred here tonight.
01:21:45I am so very sorry
01:21:46to have to
01:21:58I can reiterate what a horrible tragedy has occurred here tonight.
01:22:05And that tragedy is that Sting has let each and
01:22:10every one of you down.
01:22:13You see, the Little Stingers mean nothing to that
01:22:18bottle blonde knuckleheaded United States heavyweight champion.
01:22:25He does not care about the little children who look up to the stepping God.
01:22:33He does not care about any of you.
01:22:36He cannot appear here before bell time.
01:22:40Just keep talking, Paulie.
01:22:43Get him in here.
01:22:44And Sting does not appear in this ring by the time the bell rings,
01:22:50there will be a new United States heavyweight champion.
01:22:55He's back.
01:22:57Hey, Nick, he's back.
01:22:59He's back here.
01:23:00He's back.
01:23:02He's here.
01:23:03He is here.
01:23:04There's the bell.
01:23:08Sting trying to get in the building.
01:23:09He's limping.
01:23:10Noticeably, he went to the wrong door.
01:23:14Sting is back.
01:23:16Now, Paulie wants to match right now, but there's gotta be a ten count.
01:23:20He's administering the ten count right now.
01:23:22And Nick Patrick, listen to the crowd here.
01:23:26He broke the ten count.
01:23:27He just broke the ten count again.
01:23:28There he is.
01:23:29There he is.
01:23:30Will he make it?
01:23:31Sting, what courage.
01:23:37And Roode's going to meet him.
01:23:38Roode and Sting now, fighting in the ring.
01:23:42Sting, my God.
01:23:46Battling it all.
01:23:50He military pressed Roode right to the ramp.
01:23:53But Jim, let's talk about what's going on.
01:23:55That left knee, as you can tell, is really hurting.
01:23:58He's not 100% at all.
01:23:59Sting kicking Roode off the rampway.
01:24:05Nick Patrick trying to get him in the ring.
01:24:07Sting, he will not quit for anything.
01:24:11This is one of the most courageous displays I have ever seen in my entire career.
01:24:18Here's a guy who's obviously should not be wrestling.
01:24:21But he's not going to lose it by forfeit.
01:24:23He's going to fight like a man.
01:24:25He's going to represent those little stingers.
01:24:27He's here to win it.
01:24:28He caught Roode coming off the top.
01:24:31What do you say because of strategy here?
01:24:39He's going out of motion.
01:24:40There's no strategy at all.
01:24:42What elevation.
01:24:43What elevation.
01:24:45He is wrestling on just nothing but guts and determination here.
01:24:52Right now, Jim, no one's sitting down.
01:24:54Everyone's standing.
01:24:55And you're right.
01:24:56The most courageous tournament I've ever seen in my career in this sport.
01:25:01Roode almost out of it.
01:25:02Can Sting hang on?
01:25:04Can he keep Roode away from that left knee?
01:25:07Will he be able to overcome the pain?
01:25:15Skinheaded dangerously is beside himself.
01:25:18Over in ringside.
01:25:20What impact?
01:25:21What impact?
01:25:23A dynamic clothesline took the challenger out of the ring.
01:25:28Paul, he wanted to win it the cheap way, through a loophole.
01:25:32And now, Omar, not this, not this.
01:25:37Oh, my, oh, my God.
01:25:40Sting may have to wrestle the remainder of this match on the mat.
01:25:43He may not be able to get up at all.
01:25:45Oh, my goodness.
01:25:47Jim, that time he hit the ankle.
01:25:49And the effect, I'm sure, really got on that knee.
01:25:52You've got the leg hurt.
01:25:54You've got the leg hurt.
01:25:59Paul is saying you've got the leg hurt.
01:26:01Now, go for it.
01:26:02Sting showing unbelievable courage.
01:26:09Roode up on top.
01:26:11Oh, clothesline from behind.
01:26:14The champion now is helpless in the middle of the ring.
01:26:17And the arrogant challenger, look at those tights he's wearing.
01:26:21Boy, they were custom made for this very event.
01:26:27Here it is.
01:26:28He's going for the Roode Awakening.
01:26:30He's going for the Roode Awakening.
01:26:32He is.
01:26:32Look at the strength of Sting.
01:26:33Look at the strength of Sting.
01:26:35He's coming out of it.
01:26:38Went for a clothesline.
01:26:39Oh, he poked him in the eye.
01:26:40He poked him in the eye.
01:26:41And now, catching with the right hand.
01:26:45It's unbelievable that Sting is still standing.
01:26:47That's what's unbelievable about this.
01:26:53This crowd reacting to every move the champion makes.
01:26:57He's fighting this match on one leg.
01:27:00Oh, Roode fell right into the knee.
01:27:03Roode fell right into the knee after coming off the ropes.
01:27:08Uh-oh, dangerous.
01:27:09He got him in the back of the head with a telephone.
01:27:12What a cheap shot by that big mouth jerk at ringside.
01:27:18This may be it, Jim.
01:27:19I don't think he can get up from this.
01:27:21Oh, this is no way.
01:27:23Don't let this happen.
01:27:25One, two, three.
01:27:27Oh, he gets down.
01:27:28Yeah, yeah.
01:27:29He gets down.
01:27:30He gets down.
01:27:31He gets down.
01:27:32He gets down.
01:27:33He gets down.
01:27:34He gets down.
01:27:35He gets down.
01:27:36He gets down.
01:27:37Damien Dangers thought he had him with that phone,
01:27:41but the Stinger kicked out.
01:27:42And then the DDT, the DDT.
01:27:44It may be over.
01:27:47And Dangers is up on the apron.
01:27:49And Oh, Roode from behind.
01:27:51He clipped that knee from behind just like Luger did earlier.
01:27:56He's got it cradled.
01:27:57He's got the tights.
01:27:58He's got the tights.
01:27:59but he's gonna win it, my.
01:28:02Ladies and gentlemen, the winner and
01:28:06new United States Heavyweight Champion, Ravishing Rick Roode.
01:28:12My, no, Tony Saban is gonna go try to talk to the new champion tonight.
01:28:20This is just tragedy, this is just tragedy.

01:29:04All right, Jim Ross, thank you very much.
01:29:06And we thought about a loophole a lot, and I know you thought it would be
01:29:09the loophole, but you could not deny the courage,
01:29:12the intestinal fortitude of the singer.
01:29:14Supposed to be here because it was a set up.
01:29:19It was a conspiracy by the mastermind, by Rick Roode, the US champion,
01:29:24by Medusa, by the total package.
01:29:27Your former best friend, Lex Luger, World Championship Wrestling.
01:29:32Everybody on the committees, on the board of directors.
01:29:36Now you answer to us.
01:29:39Now the Dangerous Alliance calls the shots.
01:29:43Cuz here's a new United States Heavyweight Champion without even breaking a sweat.
01:29:47And his name is Ravishing Rick Roode.
01:29:50He wasn't supposed to be here.
01:29:51And the walls come a-tumbling down, Tony.
01:29:55A gallon effort for a very noble cause, Sting.
01:30:01Fighting to keep the hopes and the prayers of all the little Stingers alive.
01:30:06Well, the hopes and the prayers, Sting, they died.
01:30:10And what Ravishing Rick Roode has to say to you, what Ravishing Rick Roode,

01:31:04Imagine Lex Luger drawing Sting's name as his partner, or
01:31:09Scott Steiner pitted against his brother, Rick.
01:31:12The winner of 10 tag team matches then advances to the Battle Bowl,
01:31:16a two-ring battle extravaganza with everyone for himself.
01:31:20The lone remaining WCW wrestler in the ring will be declared
01:31:24the winner of this inaugural Battle Bowl at Starrcade 91.
01:31:28Welcome back, everyone, to TBS and the Clash of Champions.
01:31:50We're just moments away from the heavyweight championship of the world.
01:31:53I'm here with a guy, a phenomenal athlete that would love to be in that match.
01:31:57He came so close on October 27th at Halloween Havoc, right now with a broken wrist.
01:32:01And Ron, I know that you've got a lot of things to say to the great fans
01:32:04that have supported you so gallantly in the last several weeks.
01:32:07Well, first of all, I'd like to say it's always a pleasure to be back in my home state
01:32:11and to put on one of the best shows right here in Savannah.
01:32:13And I'm sure they've enjoyed it just as much as I have.
01:32:16And another thing I'd like to say is that I'd like to thank all the people that have sent in
01:32:20to get whale cards and the best wishes to me.
01:32:23And they knew that I had broken my wrist up at Halloween Havoc,
01:32:25and it occurred during that match sometime, I don't know when,
01:32:28because my mind was set on one thing, and that was winning that world championship title.
01:32:32And this is going to be a great match here tonight.
01:32:34And I'm here for one thing, like any good coach or any good boxer would do,
01:32:38and that's to scout this match.
01:32:39And whoever comes out the victor, Ron Simmons is still going to give that promise,
01:32:43and he's going to uphold to his word.
01:32:45I will be the first black man to wear that belt one day.
01:32:49All right, Ron, thanks for being here tonight.
01:32:51Ladies and gentlemen, Lex Luger and Rick Steiner have had a couple of dynamic altercations
01:32:55in the last few weeks.
01:32:56Let's take a look at two of those situations.
01:32:59Mr. Hughes,
01:33:06early race,
01:33:13with the vertical suplex.
01:33:21And he's going to go for it again.
01:33:28And he got him up and over.
01:33:30Oh, what a belly-to-belly suplex.
01:33:32One, two, three, pinning.
01:33:34Just like he did Luger.
01:33:35A new race is in, and Steiner is ready to fight.
01:33:38Right hands on race.
01:33:41He scoops him up and slams down the advisor.
01:33:46He scoops him up again, but here's Luger.
01:33:49And Luger with a clothesline from behind.
01:33:53Luger knows he must face this man one-on-one
01:33:56for the World's Heavyweight Championship.
01:33:59He wants to sniff out that challenge right now.
01:34:02And there's Scott Steiner.
01:34:03Scott Steiner back here.
01:34:07Scott Steiner coming to the aid of his brother.
01:34:12Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest
01:34:14on the Clash of Champions,
01:34:16it is for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
01:34:22It is for one fall with TV time remaining.
01:34:27Introducing first, the challenger,
01:34:29along with his brother, Scotty, from Detroit, Michigan,
01:34:35weighing 260 pounds,
01:34:38Nick Steiner!
01:34:45All right, ladies and gentlemen, the challenger.
01:34:47And, man, he has got his game face on.
01:34:51The heavyweight championship of the world
01:34:54about to be decided.
01:34:55You're gonna see it live as it happens right here on TBS.
01:35:02And, ladies and gentlemen, his opponent.
01:35:07He is accompanied by his mentor,
01:35:10former heavyweight champion Harley Race,
01:35:13and his personal bodyguard, Mr. Hughes,
01:35:17from Chicago, Illinois, weighing 289 pounds.
01:35:23He is the WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
01:35:28The total package, Rex Luger!
01:35:37What a night it's been here, Tony.
01:35:39We have seen a new United States Heavyweight Champion crowned.
01:35:43We think we have seen new World Tag Team Champions crowned,
01:35:46even though we are told,
01:35:49and during that last commercial break,
01:35:51that Anderson and Zabisko are still raising canes,
01:35:54so to speak, with the WCW officials
01:35:57regarding the signing of a contract
01:35:59that did not have Ricky Steamboat's name on it.
01:36:03So we'll keep you apprised of that.
01:36:04We think it is official.
01:36:06Try to have an update on it before we go off the air.
01:36:09And just as we saw at Halloween Havoc,
01:36:15it looks as if referee Randy Anderson
01:36:18is going to expel Mr. Hughes from ringside.
01:36:25Well, that is only right.
01:36:27Jim, I'd like to bring up a point here, if I could.
01:36:30I was right in the midst, as you know,
01:36:32of what transpired, firstly,
01:36:34between Rick Steiner and Lex Luger.
01:36:36Since that time, I think Lex Luger's attitude
01:36:39towards Rick Steiner has been entirely different.
01:36:41And I really think, in preparation for this match,
01:36:44Luger has been more focused and more serious
01:36:46than he has ever been in his title reign since July.
01:36:50Both these athletes, indicative of the great
01:36:54physical presence that WCW has right now,
01:36:57building the foundation
01:36:59with young, athletically-oriented individuals.
01:37:03Steiner came from Michigan.
01:37:05He was an All-American there.
01:37:07There you see him. He graduated, as did that man.
01:37:10Luger graduated with a 3.78 grade point.
01:37:14Very intelligent athlete.
01:37:16Luger signed with Penn State,
01:37:19with Joe Paterno, end up going to Miami and Florida.
01:37:23So both these guys have great amateur backgrounds,
01:37:25Luger in football, Rick Steiner in wrestling.
01:37:30But, of course, once you step into the ring,
01:37:33professional-wise, that's where it all stops.
01:37:36Luger's strong point has always been
01:37:38his overpowering strength.
01:37:40The same applies to Rick Steiner.
01:37:42Gonna have to wrestle a much different match,
01:37:44more than he's ever done.
01:37:45Wide-eyed enthusiasm by Rick Steiner.
01:37:48He's not clowning around.
01:37:50Single-leg takedown.
01:37:52And Luger very, very quickly goes to the ropes.
01:37:55I'm very happy that Scott Steiner being allowed out here.
01:38:01I would anticipate he has a one-night manager's license,
01:38:04much like Dusty Rhodes had at Halloween Havoc
01:38:07when he was in Ron Simmons' corner.
01:38:09We know that Harley Race is a fully licensed manager
01:38:13here in WCW.
01:38:14The awesome physique of the heavyweight champion.
01:38:176'5", 289, 33-inch waist.
01:38:22He is really etched.
01:38:24Double-leg pickup.
01:38:26Steiner going for the cover again,
01:38:28and again Luger goes to the ropes.
01:38:31Smart, smart wrestling by Lex Luger.
01:38:33Just scooted, let Steiner's momentum
01:38:36help him there to the ropes.
01:38:38And Luger, you're talking about being booed
01:38:40into thumbs down beginning when he attacked Sting
01:38:43early on in the night.
01:38:46Well, we found out, if you just joined us,
01:38:48that it was Lex Luger that was the man
01:38:51that has been paying Cactus Jack and Abdullah
01:38:54all that money to put Sting out of action.
01:38:59It was Luger sending the gift boxes.
01:39:02It was Luger that clipped Sting from behind
01:39:05in his rebuilt left knee.
01:39:08And obviously, that had a profound effect
01:39:11on Sting losing the championship here.
01:39:14You know, Jim, so far in this match,
01:39:16Luger kicked away in an act of frustration that time,
01:39:18but I don't think he's frustrated.
01:39:20He really is wrestling defensively.
01:39:22More so than I've ever seen.
01:39:23He's gone to the ropes many times.
01:39:25Well, this match is a one-fall-or-TV-time remaining.
01:39:29Luger knows that full well.
01:39:30He may wrestle a defensive match.
01:39:32Great tackle there.
01:39:34Great impact by the challenger.
01:39:38And the pompous champion looking rather frustrated.
01:39:41His lip has been busted open.
01:39:43His eye is blackened.
01:39:47And the pompous champion, Jim, may be very pompous,
01:39:51but every time Steiner lays into him with an offensive move,
01:39:54he stops.
01:39:55He slows things down.
01:39:56He walks in a circle.
01:39:58Rick Steiner is unable to get any momentum
01:40:00early on in this match.
01:40:02Look at Steiner in that amateur position.
01:40:05And look at Luger walking along the ropes.
01:40:08Staying near the ropes, perhaps very wisely.
01:40:10Knee to the midsection, but a side headlock
01:40:12applied by the dog-faced gremlin.
01:40:14Back in the ropes, there goes the Irish whip.
01:40:15Quick moment here in this championship match.
01:40:17And he caught him! He caught him!
01:40:19Oh, yeah!
01:40:20He's got him! One, two!
01:40:22And Luger able to kick out in the Steiner line!
01:40:26Luger all the way outside from the Steiner line!
01:40:31Harley Race, a seven-times heavyweight champion.
01:40:35The advisor to the champion is over there
01:40:38giving him some much-needed advice.
01:40:40And look at the dog face.
01:40:41He is ready, down in that referee's position.
01:40:47Luger's not gonna get in right away.
01:40:49Not at all.
01:40:53Luger taking his time, being very deliberate.
01:40:58Whoa!
01:40:59May have loosened a couple of teeth there.
01:41:02His lip being busted open from that perhaps the Steiner line.
01:41:08I'm not sure.
01:41:09A move or two earlier.
01:41:14Boy, both these guys are in magnificent condition.
01:41:17Steiner has that low center of gravity.
01:41:20And look at Luger trying to wrestle now out of the corner.
01:41:25You know, Jim, we talked on your radio show on AM 750 WSB
01:41:28on Sunday nights about who you think would win the match.
01:41:31I thought it would be Luger.
01:41:32You said Steiner.
01:41:33And looking at Steiner right now,
01:41:34he is more focused than I've ever seen him.
01:41:37Well, a lot of things have happened tonight so unpredictable.
01:41:40I thought Steiner going in had a chance.
01:41:42I still do.
01:41:44And look at Luger back away.
01:41:47I've caught a lot of championship matches in WCW,
01:41:50but never with two more supreme pure athletes than these two.
01:41:55Great elevation by the Dog Face Gremlin.
01:41:58The former Michigan All-American with a solid right hand.
01:42:01And another one.
01:42:02And a thumb to the eye by the champion.
01:42:05Sends him in.
01:42:07Going for a clothesline.
01:42:08He got him!
01:42:10Belly to back suplex.
01:42:12Luger, though, near the ropes.
01:42:14He got the left shoulder off.
01:42:16Just barely got an inch or two off the canvas.
01:42:20And again, Luger rolling near the ropes.
01:42:22You know, I think Harley Race had a lot to do with that.
01:42:25He kept screaming.
01:42:25He got the attention of Rick Steiner.
01:42:27And I don't think the pin was as secure as it should have been.
01:42:31Because of Harley Race.
01:42:35Steiner with a right hand.
01:42:36Luger retaliates.
01:42:38These men, this big, this strong, cannot exchange blows
01:42:41for any long length of time.
01:42:43No one's body can sustain that.
01:42:45Steiner again with that right hand.
01:42:47There's the reversal of an Irish whip.
01:42:49He went in chest first.
01:42:50And now it's Luger.
01:42:52Referee got him knocked out of the way there.
01:42:55Jim, top rope.
01:42:57Right between the legs.
01:42:59Real cheap shot by the total package.
01:43:01Scotty Steiner trying to reason with the referee.
01:43:04But quite frankly, you don't want Luger to-
01:43:07Oh, what a clothesline.
01:43:08You don't want Luger disqualified.
01:43:10The belt does not change hands in a disqualification.
01:43:13Right.
01:43:14Rick's got a penny, or make him submit.
01:43:18Luger a little worse for wear.
01:43:22Regardless of how tough you are, and of course,
01:43:24we've been, it's well known how tough Rick Steiner is.
01:43:27When that rope goes right between the legs
01:43:28in the groin area, it'll knock the biggest man down
01:43:31to his knees.
01:43:32Luger played pro football seven seasons.
01:43:35Youngest man ever to start in the Canadian Football League
01:43:38at 19.
01:43:41Up in a vertical position now.
01:43:43And he's raking the eyes right across the top ring rope.
01:43:49You can almost see the arrogance of the champion
01:43:51as he moves around the ring.
01:43:53He does have a mean streak.
01:43:56Since winning the championship at the Great American Bash,
01:44:00he has turned back every challenge.
01:44:03He has been a fighting champion.
01:44:06Steiner blocked that suplex, but he got him up.
01:44:08Front face lock.
01:44:09He sat down on it.
01:44:11That low center of gravity was being an advantageous situation
01:44:15for Steiner there, as he could utilize that suplex.
01:44:19Again, Luger with a poke to the eye.
01:44:24Scoop slam, and throw the elbow right down into the throat.
01:44:29Lateral press, and Steiner got his shoulder up.
01:44:32Both men back up to a vertical base now.
01:44:35And it's Luger with the advantage.
01:44:39Looked like he may have caught him in the throat
01:44:41with his fingers extended.
01:44:43I'm not sure.
01:44:44And now he throws him outside.
01:44:47And keep your eye on race.
01:44:50Scotty Steiner sees what's going on.
01:44:54And he's got him.
01:44:55He's got him.
01:44:56He's got him.
01:44:57He's got him.
01:44:58He's got him.
01:44:59He's got him.
01:45:00He's got him.
01:45:01He sees what's going on.
01:45:02He's headed that way.
01:45:04But the damage has been done.
01:45:06Luger has Scott detained verbally,
01:45:09giving race the opportunity to gain an unfair advantage.
01:45:14I'll tell you what I think, twofold here.
01:45:15To get the advantage, thanks to Harley Race.
01:45:17But also, I think Luger is really tired.
01:45:22Man, this is just an illustration
01:45:25of the great action you'll see every weekend,
01:45:27Saturday morning, Saturday night, and Sunday on TBS.
01:45:30Lateral press, another near fall.
01:45:32And Luger very frustrated that he didn't get a faster
01:45:35count from the referee.
01:45:42Hammering blow to the mid-back.
01:45:47Again, double ax handle.
01:45:50That wide back, Rick Steiner, certainly a ample target.
01:45:55But he's trying to shake it off, trying to stay vertical.
01:45:59And Dogface comes back to the right.
01:46:01He caught the champion walking in.
01:46:03Luger is addled.
01:46:05I can tell you, Luger's eyes are a little glazed.
01:46:08He got him out.
01:46:10Oh, wow, what power.
01:46:14Lateral press.
01:46:15He didn't hook the leg.
01:46:17Man, I thought he had it right there.
01:46:19Did not hook the leg.
01:46:20Both men are visibly tired.
01:46:23They've given it their all.
01:46:24So much emotions.
01:46:25Watch that.
01:46:26Bulldog.
01:46:27He got him off the top.
01:46:28Well, that bulldog, a new champion, could be crowned here.
01:46:32He's got the lateral press on the front of the rope.
01:46:36Once again, it's not only if you get him.
01:46:39It's where you get him.
01:46:40And it was too close to the ropes.
01:46:44Oh, my goodness.
01:46:49Jim, this may be a belly to belly.
01:46:52Belly to belly.
01:46:54Fans, we hope you'll stay tuned.
01:46:57For an eye for an eye.
01:46:58There's Mr. Hughes following us.
01:47:00Scottie brings Hughes in.
01:47:02Scott Steiner to Mr. Hughes now.
01:47:05Hammering each other.
01:47:06Scottie with a break in Steiner.
01:47:09Oh, yeah.
01:47:10It's chaos here.
01:47:12Scottie Steiner.
01:47:13Rick's got him.
01:47:14Rick Steiner has got Luger pinned.
01:47:17Steiner up.
01:47:18He's mailing race.
01:47:23The referee's letting it go.
01:47:25Jim.
01:47:26Jim Luger's got the belt.
01:47:28Luger.
01:47:30Oh, he's got the belt.
01:47:31He got the belt.
01:47:32That heavy championship belt.
01:47:34He got Steiner to face with it.
01:47:36And Luger, he.
01:47:37Oh, my.
01:47:38Ladies and gentlemen, the winner and still world heavyweight
01:47:41champion, the total package, Rick Luger.
01:47:47What a hell of a fight with Scott Steiner and Mr. Hughes.
01:47:51And in the chaos, Luger got the belt.
01:47:54And he hit the challenger right in the face with a darn thing.
01:48:01Luger with a black eye and a busted lip.
01:48:05Man, I'd love to see a rematch between those two.
01:48:07My goodness, wouldn't I?
01:48:10They stole that one right away from him.
01:48:16Well, fans, we have been told now that on the wrestling hotline,
01:48:20they're going to make a decision tonight whether or not
01:48:23that the new champions will be able to retain the belt.
