00:05:08We begin our live Clash of the Champions here on TBS with tag team action.

00:05:14Bobby the Brain, two men making their way to the ring who, for one day in 1993,

00:05:19were World Tag Team Champions.

00:05:21The winner of this matchup will get a shot at the Nasty Boy this Saturday on

00:05:25WCW Saturday night for the World Tag Title.

00:05:28So this is a very important matchup.

00:05:30Very important, Tony.

00:05:32But let me remind everybody one thing right now.

00:06:23They had a rematch.

00:06:24Another headbutt by the Assassin.

00:06:25And Orndorff and Roma won.

00:06:27They went for a rematch.

00:06:28And finally, two Colton Bagwell won.

00:06:30But this one has a lot of implications as we are set to go.

00:06:33So what you're trying to imply is that the Assassin interfered.

00:24:41Well, late last night, the Board of Governors at World Championship Wrestling

00:24:47reached a decision.

00:24:49They have chosen a man as their new commissioner.

00:24:52This guy is one of the great legends.

00:24:54He's had some classic battles as a world champion with the likes of Vern Gagne,

00:24:59Hulk Hogan, Luthez, Dory Funk Jr., and a host of others.

00:25:04With that, I present to you the new commissioner of World Championship Wrestling,

00:25:11Nick Bockwinkel.

00:25:13Mr. Bockwinkel, welcome to the Clash of Champions.

00:25:16You're obviously here for a reason.

00:25:18You've got a big task ahead of you.

00:25:20I sure do, Gene, and I first want to express to World Championship

00:25:23and all of the fans, I feel very honored,

00:25:26and I'm sure my father who wrestled before me would have felt very honored

00:25:30to be picked for this position.

00:25:32I know it's very exalted and respected.

00:25:34And I will try my very best to oversee, to look, to watch,

00:25:40to keep an eye on all these off-the-wall personalities.

00:25:43Are we looking at some new legislation?

00:25:45No, nothing right now.

00:25:47We're just going to take it as we go.

00:25:49But I'm definitely going to keep as close an eye on things

00:25:53and take the appropriate actions that have to be taken when they need to be taken.

00:25:57Well, in my estimation, it's long overdue.

00:26:27And let me add my welcome to all of you to the Clash of Champions.

00:26:30I'm here alongside of Bobby the Brain Heenan.

00:26:33And this television championship match is just now getting underway,

00:26:37so let's get to the ring.

00:26:39It is Lord Steven Regal defending his title.

00:26:42There's the bell.

00:26:43He's defending his title against the natural Dustin Rhodes.

00:26:46And, Bobby, all I can say here, a crucial match for both men.

00:26:51Yes, it is.

00:26:53But I'll tell you something.

00:26:55This man, Steven Regal, or his lordship, as he likes to be referred to,

00:26:59Steven Regal, you can just see it in his eyes,

00:27:02the way he looks at these humanoids, that he couldn't,

00:27:06he just can't stand the thought of them being in the same building with him.

00:27:10He is so above them.

00:27:12And he lets everybody know it.

00:27:14He is the WCW television champion.

00:27:16Am I correct?

00:27:17He is indeed.

00:27:18And he is a marvelous combination of American catch can and the European

00:27:22classic style of wrestling.

00:27:24Notice the way he very quickly tied up that leg.

00:27:27Now he's complaining about his ear.

00:27:31I wouldn't doubt it if Dustin bit him on the ear.

00:27:34Well, no.

00:27:35Dustin is not that kind of a competitor.

00:27:37Oh, he wouldn't bite you on the ear, right?

00:27:39His dad would bite both your ears off, believe me.

00:27:41This punk kid would bite you on the ear.

00:27:43Well, that's your problem.

00:27:45It goes back years ago with you and the American dream, Dustin Rhodes.

00:27:49They're locked up collar and elbow right now.

00:27:51And Regal drives his man back into the turnbuckle.

00:27:54Dustin tried to hook a leg around but was unable to get that shot.

00:27:58And an open slap and a return match.

00:28:00Boy, Dustin Rhodes is flying loose now.

00:28:03And a beautiful flying grunt kick by Rhodes puts Regal outside the ring.

00:28:07And Sir William is out there rendering all of the assistance he can.

00:28:11But Dustin Rhodes exploded like a tornado.

00:28:15Well, he's got that temper, Gordon.

00:28:17And you know that he's got that fire down inside to compete.

00:28:20And when you're like that, you'll do anything.

00:28:22You will do anything.

00:28:24And that's Dustin Rhodes.

00:28:26Sir William keeping Lord Steven Regal outside the ring.

00:28:29Obviously trying to break that momentum now.

00:28:32Trying to get the situation to calm down if he can.

00:28:36Dustin Rhodes gets set to charge in.

00:28:38Regal, a look of utter disgust on his face as he's watching his man.

00:28:42But I think he's also looking at Dustin Rhodes with some newfound respect.

00:28:59They match that yellow stripe down his back real good.

00:29:13And what a jar to those 26 movable vertebrae in Regal's back.

00:29:23But you never know.

00:29:25Regal is such a great competitor and such a great wrestler,

00:29:28you never know when he's playing possum,

00:29:30when he's suckering you in for a move.

00:29:32That's what I like about him.

00:29:34Well, he's an outstanding wrestler.

00:29:36Couldn't have won that title without it.

00:29:38And broken up that time by Dustin Rhodes as he tried to get some leverage.

00:29:42And Rhodes now making some comments to Lord Steven Regal.

00:29:47And Regal circles his man, backs away, is on his bicycle.

00:29:52Well, that's a good defensive move.

00:29:54You don't want to go head-to-head with Dustin Rhodes.

00:29:56You don't want to charge in and let him make a mistake.

00:29:58You know he's not real bright to begin with.

00:30:00He's from Texas. You figure it out.

00:30:05Well, I apologize to all Texans who may be watching.

00:30:09All right. Hooks that arm very nicely.
