00:00Hello there, Lee Sobot at the Yorkshire Evening Post here from Elland Road where Leeds United
00:07have signed off for the September international break with a 2-0 victory against Hull City,
00:12a first home win of the season here for the Whites who have taken themselves now up to
00:178 points from a possible 12 which you would say is not a bad return really, not perfect
00:22by any means. But I think Daniel Farke admits that himself that this team isn't perfect,
00:26a very interesting post-match press conference we had with him where basically assessed
00:31the summer window as a whole and it was his view that Leeds can't be seen as the big favourites
00:35in this division because they've lost players like Somerville, like Routier, Archie Gray
00:40who could cut people open just with one swift movement on the attack, particularly Somerville
00:45and Routier. But obviously there's new people in now and the fact of the matter is that
00:49Leeds are favourites for the division with the bookmakers and got even stronger in the
00:53market now as a result of this victory, a 2-0 win which has seen them maintain their
00:57unbeaten start, the only defeat so far obviously coming in that defeat at home to Middlesbrough
01:01in the Carabao Cup. Obviously the season starting with a 3-3 draw here against Portsmouth which
01:05obviously again Leeds should have won but did a 0-0 draw at West Brom and then a very
01:10good win against Sheffield Wednesday which Daniel Farke called the perfect away performance
01:15and here he called it the perfect home performance and you can see where he's coming from at
01:19the end of the day, the stats tell you that. They've scored twice so a comfortable enough
01:24victory and not being more than one goal ahead with a little bit of wriggle room at the end
01:29and obviously another clean sheet which is obviously good to see as well but it wasn't
01:32entirely plain sailing to be honest. They started very, very well, three new faces here
01:37on show and one of those is Manor Solomon. He looks like being an absolute star to be
01:41honest. It's no surprise that he absolutely excelled from the beginning. He's excelled
01:45in the Premier League before and the Champions League before on loan at Fulham in the Premier
01:49League and he had injury last season at Tottenham. He hadn't actually played competitively since
01:53September so a bit of a big call to put him in from the starting line-up but he was obviously
01:58fully fit after a pre-season and what not and straight away he looked very impressive
02:01at the start. Leeds, very, very threatening at the beginning but Paul weathered the storm.
02:06It was a bit huff and puff from Leeds and in the end they ended up causing quite a lot
02:09of problems themselves. Liam Miller in particular was a big threat down the left flank and first
02:13half ended goalless and really first half either side could have been in front in the
02:16end of the interval. But Leeds got back on the front foot after the break and absolutely
02:21superb work from Solomon who really burst back into life again after the break and basically
02:25made the first goal himself. Absolutely classic wing play, skinned two men including former
02:30Leeds player Louis Coyle who got to the byline. Brilliant cut back and a fantastic finish
02:34from young Matteo Joseph with his first goal of the season. That's him up and running now,
02:38very much looks like he's Leeds United's main number nine now. Obviously Bamford's injured
02:42so we'll wait and see what happens when he gets back but Joseph's a young striker going
02:46places no doubt about that and that was fantastic for him. To get that first goal Leeds very
02:50quickly went for a second but it's got to be said that Hull did like to try and respond
02:54themselves and did cause the odd problem but in the end Leeds got a second goal and a very,
02:58very nice goal again. The second goal superbly worked. Joel Pirou with the finish, he was
03:04on from the bench and he's had his knockers and his doubters Pirou but one thing you'll
03:07always say about him is he's a very, very smart finisher on his day and that was a really
03:11cool finish after being played through from excellent work from Junior Firpo who both
03:14won and sort of finished the move in terms of he played the ball through for Pirou but
03:18also won the tackle that started a swift counter-attack as Hull looked to sort of attack it themselves
03:23and 2-0 bang that was it, game over really. New faces, seen them all. Solomon, well three
03:28or four of them anyway. Solomon obviously started, got a big standing ovation when he
03:31came off. Largi Ramazzani came off the bench, instantly looked very, very quick. Obviously
03:36he's seen as the Somerville replacement if you like, big shoes to fill but you know from
03:40what we saw here he looks like a very good player, there's no doubt about that. And then
03:43Yao Tanaka or Ayo Tanaka as sort of I think the crowd like to call him because of the
03:47songs that go with that and he came on as well. He came on a lot later into centre midfield
03:52and sort of hurried her out a little bit and stuff but obviously there'll be more to come
03:56from him. The only other signing, Isaac Schmidt, haven't signed in time in terms of deadline
04:01week, deadline day signings as such so obviously we'll wait and see when we see him. Hopefully
04:05we'll be out of the international break and that is it now, it's time for the international
04:09break and as I say they're signing off with eight points out of a possible 12. Big test
04:13coming up on the other side of the international break at home to Burnley. But I mean it's
04:17sort of generally speaking so far so good. The big thing obviously is that in the transfer
04:21window everybody wanted a number 10 and Daniel Farke himself wanted a number 10 and he sort
04:25of answered it very diplomatically in the press conference afterwards basically saying
04:28the 49ers have not spent the money in this window and wasn't going to complain about
04:32it and if that's the route Leeds are going to go down they have to find other solutions.
04:35But it did look at times like that was the obvious thing they were lacking here but I
04:38mean that's not a surprise because we could see that obviously even coming into the window
04:42that that was what Leeds needed. They've got Aronson there, they've got Nonto who we think
04:45one of the wingers can play there but generally speaking they should have enough this season
04:49with the squad they have got. The acid test now today was to get this victory here and
04:54they've gone and done that in the end as I say it wasn't that straightforward but they
04:56got there in the end and it's finished Leeds United 2, Hull City 0. See you after the international
05:00break.
